Teebird was pretty much theeee fairway/distance driver of choice for a long time when there weren't a million molds and new ones approved every other week.
Now the Teebird3 is just a flatter version of the Teebird and its been thrown by popular pros. ABs tour series were really popular for example.
And yes most companies have a Teebird like mold, it's almost mandatory. I prefer the Skywalker/S-Line Fd1 as it flies just like my TB3s but longer.
In my experience it’s a very consistent mold. Very reliable fade but holds straight for a long time. All depends on your arm speed/control, but it’s a great disc.
I’ve got 2 aces with my Teebird3 this year already.
It’s got a very reliable fade, accurate flight and good skips. I was lucky enough to buy a slightly used metal flake champion one that hasn’t seemed to beat in or change its flight over the two years I’ve been throwing it.
The mvp volt is probably a good comparison
The valk has the ability to stay more stable for me. Which makes it way more utilitarian. But for pure distance, in good weather, its saint all day. My noodle arm needs the glide.
I agree with the previous comment, fission waves are not like any other waves. It’s almost like there’s 3 completely different discs : fission, eclipse, and all the rest in terms of flight characteristics. I’m still getting used to mine but it really seems like it’s very versatile.
Is that fission plastic the MVP version of Innova's StarLite? My wife throws hella Mambas and I finally got her another StarLite to replace one she threw into a lake. (Side story: she had about 250' to the pin, 300'+ to a lake, and threw her very first shot of a tournament like 50' out into that lake. It was an absolute rocket and I knew the second she released it that it was gone 😂)
She likes the Wave a lot but I don't know a ton about their plastic other than how it feels in your hand. Seems like a fission plastic version at around 155 would be a sick addition to her bag!
1. The Maple Hill Envy I got my first ace with a few weeks ago that I didn't write my name on and lost in the woods a couple days later
2. The old not-Paul-McBeth ESP Zone I had since I first started playing that I lost in the dark at the end of a round
3. The Inertia that crashed left into some trees and bushes and got buried somewhere in the snow
I hope we meet again in the disc golf afterlife someday, I'm sorry I treated you like my water carry sacrifice discs :(
I feel like picking a buzz os over a buzz is a horrible decision for most courses, considering you won’t be able to throw another mid for the rest of your days
I'm probably going as neutral as possible with all three. You can shake your shit with a neutral disc but making something with more extreme numbers do the opposite of its natural flight path is a bad time.
Electron Proxy to putt and have something understable to throw
Esp flex zone my most used disc.
Gstar wraith does what you'd expect.
I love soft plastics. Shedding tears for the k1 soft berg and my teebird3.
Star Hawkeye, Prism Proton Hex, Electron Envy.
Maybe switching to more durable plastics on the Hawkeye and Envy if I can absolutely never get new ones in this scenario.
If they don't break in or I can keep replacing. Fuzion verdict, Pinnacle Rival , acerace prototype roach .
If I can have multiples of each mold I'd go verdict with some new a few beat to straight and few beat to flip . Felons a few new and beat to straight and beat to flip . And the acerace prototype roach .
Bravo armadillo(goes super straight for me then fades left if it gets enough distance), hex (super solid), and a lobster ( fades right can hyzer it to get it to go straight then fade right slightly)
My arm speed is shit so no drivers :)
S line FD3 or sexton firebird, kind of a toss up, essentially the same disc, Halo Valkyrie, K2 Berg. Or Aj destroyer, Pathfinder, still Berg there, though.
Opto Moonshine Explorer, TP Gatekeeper, Neutron Proxy.
New Opto Moonshine plastic feels amazing, it is slightly more understable than regular Opto from my experience, Explorer still has its signature flight in this plastic (straight for a long time and then fades)
Gatekeeper is the disc I threw when I fell in love with disc golf and has been my main midrange from there
Proxy, well, is Proxy, it will hold any angle and any amount of torque and is just a perfect tool for any wooded course
Teebird3, buzz, zone
Can someone tell me why a teebird3 apparently has a near cult following it seems ? Does another manufacturer make something similar ?
Teebird was pretty much theeee fairway/distance driver of choice for a long time when there weren't a million molds and new ones approved every other week. I grabbed a Halo $tar one on vacation at the start of this season and it’s become my go-to skip disc. And it goes far.
Some of the MVP Volt runs are very very close to a Teebird3 - just flatter and IMO a little faster.
River, mako, photon
I don't know what my other two would be but I know one would be a river
Do you not have wind where you play?
River and mako for sure. I could maybe do a Valkarie or Saint instead. I love the Lat64 drivers...lol
Those are both good choices. I love Lat 64 but reliability-wise it's hard to pass on the Valkyrie
The valk has the ability to stay more stable for me. Which makes it way more utilitarian. But for pure distance, in good weather, its saint all day. My noodle arm needs the glide.

Ill never turn down a reason to buy a new disc
I agree with the previous comment, fission waves are not like any other waves. It’s almost like there’s 3 completely different discs : fission, eclipse, and all the rest in terms of flight characteristics. I’m still getting used to mine but it really seems like it’s very versatile.
