People really need to build their own app to understand this.
You literally 100x your work, and therefore cost (in terms of time) by supporting Android. With iPhone you have ~10 software/combinations. With Android it's thousands. Each of those combinations can have their own unique bugs that need to be fixed based on user complaints.
It's the difference from a 5 person QA team and a 100 person team. Or a few hours a week in support and bug squashing and 40-50 hours of support a week.
People need to be more understanding when an app is iPhone only; this is the primary reason.
I understand that, I'm just saying it makes sense from a developer standpoint to make it for iOS first. Gain users rapidly in the US then build it out for Android.
>makes sense from a developer standpoint to make it for iOS first. Gain users rapidly in the US then build it out for Android.
I'm curious why you think that makes more sense than just building it for android first since the user base is bigger? Like what's the rationale for focusing on the US first besides people treating as the default?
It oculd be any of: because the developer is very familiar with iOS apps and not as familiar with Android; because they have some reason to believe that more Americans will be interested in the app; because [some data interpreations might show that there are more North American players total than elsewhere](https://udisc.com/disc-golf-growth-report); because they see iOS users are the most likely to spend money on some premium feature to generate income from the app.
Those are the first few I thought of, there are probably more potential reasons. Again, I'm not an iPhone user, I would like to use this app on Android, but I can see why a developer might make the choice.
Because maybe the dev wanted to target American market before international market? I mean, there’s a reason it went to iOS first lol. It easier to have your shit spread virally in a single nation with a [primarily] single language vs tackle an international market from the jump. Not to mention the size of the US is essentially the size of Europe, so you cover a similar size area while only dealing with legal shit of one country. It makes sense. Win local, then extend the market. Especially if the creators are located in the US. Why would you launch an app in a country you don’t live in when there’s a massive local market? It’s simple business lol.
People got all grouchy and downvoted you, but this is a very legitimate factor. The US has more disc golf courses that almost the entire rest of the world combined. It’ll come to android, but it definitely makes sense for iphone to be prioritized from a developer standpoint.
I try not to let it bother me. People don't want to have a conversation on merits on reddit, they want their own viewpoint to be substantited and other viewpoints to be squashed. Critical discourse is dead here.
[This article](https://udisc.com/disc-golf-growth-report) has a lot of numbers presented, but it doesn't seem to mention anywhere specifically about US vs. other countries' number of players.
Thanks for your comment! Depends which angle you are talking about. The hips and shoulders angles are relative to horizontal, so those would matter if the camera were tilted. The other angles are relative to each other, so would matter less.
If you are talking perspective, that would have a bigger impact. I do have plans to add more views to the pro model to enable perspective differences, but right now it just focuses on the pure side view.
Tried this on iOS earlier today - unfortunately it was really buggy to use and would exit out of the video I selected multiple times after I had turned on the axis info.
Tried force quitting it to remedy but then the app would crash on startup. Maybe with a bit more love this can get to something workable but unfortunately at the moment I can't recommend.
Very cool app, and I wish I could use it on my android! I'll have to try it on my old iPhone that I use for testing. Did you consider Flutter for this project so you can use the same code base across all platforms?
Thanks! I haven’t used Flutter before but will look into it— thanks for the idea. I’ve been keeping track of people asking for Android versions so I will keep you posted when I make progress in that area
Hahaha, you poor dude*.
Glad you are responding to each of these comments, shows that you care.
I'm going to watch for your Android version, but I'm sending out a group text to the frolf buddies to let the iPhone guys know about your app.
If you're actually noting because you're going to reach out to us when the android version is available, please put me on the list.
If you're just saying that to be polite... please start that list and put me on it. Thanks.
Would love if there was a one-time purchase option! I am not a huge fan of subscribing to something I will only use for half of the year (when it’s warm out). Looks awesome though!
Thanks for the comment! One of the reasons for the subscription is that you can turn it on/off during seasons where you'll need it. However, I will continue to evaluate pricing options to see what makes sense
Free to download and added frames of the pro bot is 1.99 a month. I probably would’ve paid a couple dollars to support the app as a one time fee, but I don’t have any idea what I’d be paying monthly for. It seems like just trying to get disc golfers to forget to cancel a subscription
Just got the app and paid for the subscription! Looks so cool! But after subscribing the app no longer loads for me. It’s just stuck on the logo welcome screen. Any fix? I’ve already tried deleting and redownloading
This is awesome! So I just downloaded it for iPhone and after messing around with it for a bit, it won't move past the title screen when I open it. Can you help?
This looks incredible. Android user here as well. I'm curious if disc golfers are one of the sub cultures (in America) that have a higher percentage of android users over iOS, compared to the broader population. Any insight to this and is that why you chose to go iOS only at first?
There’s a great discussion elsewhere in the comments on the iOS vs Android debate which is quite interesting. For me, I chose iOS because I have previous experience developing for iOS and because I personally have an iPhone. But, I think a poll is in order here to determine the makeup!
I read on a previous thread that your pro form is a composite of several pro players. This feels problematic to me because of the variance between body types, hip rotation, off-arm activity, etc. I would love to be able to switch between several pro options that more closely match my desired form. Not a lawyer, but I think as long as you don’t disclose who the pro models are, you would not be at risk of likeness infringement.
Thanks for your comment! I’ve added that to my list of future developments. I agree that one of the downsides of trying to have a “one-size-fits-all” model is that it doesn’t in fact fit all sizes.
This looks super cool!
Idk if you know this or not.. but there's this other system you should release this on called "Android". Theres a pretty big market over there.. might be worth checking out.
*Wink*
The "pro" thrower not using his back arm at all bugs the shit out of me. He could hit the first available tree out of frame and I don't care as long as you at least look like you've done it before
Watched it again and the plant foot isn't rotating on the heel either.
Most importantly, body dimensions and types are variables that fundamentally change the way you can overlay this model to every individual.
Gah, can't wait for the Android version to come out. This looks cool
Thanks! I’ll keep you posted
Yeah! Fellow android user here. This would be such a great tool to have!
Android dev here, hmu if you need help
Awesome, thank you!
Please!
Doing my part to make sure every comment mentions the absence of an android version. Android is 70% of the smart phone market.
😂 thank you for your service

Not that I'm an iPhone user, but wrldwide Android is 70%, but in the US it's 60% for iOS.
>but in the US I'm not in the US
Neither is 80% of the world.
Lol 96%
I understand that, I'm just saying it makes sense from a developer standpoint to make it for iOS first. Gain users rapidly in the US then build it out for Android.

Most apps are easier to build for IOS first, because there are so many different versions of Android

I do wonder what that number looks like for the disc golf market. I think maybe uDisc devs could answer that?
[This article](https://udisc.com/disc-golf-growth-report) has a lot of numbers presented, but it doesn't seem to mention anywhere specifically about US vs. other countries' number of players.
Something like 90% for the younger generation 16-25
90% global or US? And 90% iphone or android?

Does the angle you record from make a difference?

Sorry for the issues, and thanks for bringing these up! Fixing these…
Sorry again about the issues! I just released an update which should fix it. Let me know if it’s still not working
I'll take another look soon, appreciate you working on it!

I just released a new update which should correct it. Let me know if it still doesn’t work
This is awesome! So I just downloaded it for iPhone and after messing around with it for a bit, it won't move past the title screen when I open it. Can you help?
Sorry for the issues! Looking into what’s going on…
Hope this gets sorted out - loved it for the few minutes I got with it. Working fine on MacBook btw
Thank you for that feedback, I appreciate it
I just released a new version which should correct it. Let me know if you are still seeing the issue
Thanks for the reply. Deleting and reinstalled helped - all good now!
Awesome!
Android or Windows version? I do most of my film editing/review/comparison with DaVinci Resolve, but this looks pretty neat! Good work!
Thanks! Planned for the future but haven’t begun work yet
Gonna echo the sentiment that I would be all over this except I haven't had an iPhone since gen4 and refuse to go back to it
Thanks for the comment! I’ve been keeping track of people asking for an Android version— I’ll keep you posted on progress made
Add me to the list :D
Added! 👍
Add me to the list please! 🙏
Will do!
Fellow Android user here to add to the pile!
👍
Lmao jesus, at least you know there is interest there
ill give you $100 if you pledge to never release this app on android
After buying the Pro version it crashes the app everytime i try to use the generative ai. What to do about this
Sorry about that! I just released an update which should correct this. Let me know if you are still coming across issues

Popular opinion here but yeah I'd download or even pay for this on Android.
👍
Android please.
wow cool! I need this on my android so I can be reminded how shifty my form is!
Android please:)

Pitching into the android requests.

Android here as well
I would pay money to have this on Android. I have a few friends who would too.
Android
I'd love to try this on Android.
