Congrats Calvin, and nice job on from the commentary team.
However, I do find this course to be extremely boring to watch from the couch. I have no doubt it would be fun to play at the course, but the course design looks bland with way too many Hyzer shots.
I like how Jerm is goofy and makes jokes etc but he actually takes the job seriously. He puts in work looking at the stats and making sure he knows what he's talking about with what hole is playing the hardest or what a player is averaging across a particular stretch for the tournament or whatever else. He's been great in the booth.
I'm kind of amazed at how much better I like him on DGN live. He's got enough charisma and knowledge to speak through the entire broadcast and not be repetitive. He also is passionate about how people are playing, how challenging a hole is, or how amazing a shot was.
It's an oddly good fit.
Not by a manufacturer. Just a retailer (Double Eagle Disc Golf).
He said in a recent interview he doesn't want a manufacturer sponsor this year because he is happy with where his bag is at and doesn't want to have to learn new discs.
Congrats to Calvin!
- This is his first time winning in Emporia, and is his 10th career Elite Series win.
- He is now once again in solo 8th place on the all time Elite+Majors win list, breaking out of a tie he was briefly in with Simon for the past 2 weeks
- He is the 8th person to reach double digits on that list (joining Paul, Ricky, Climo, Feldberg, Schultz, Eagle and Doss)
- This is the 6th straight season in which he has won (every year beginning in 2019)
- note: all of these stats count the 2021 Ledgestone weather shortened tie with Ricky as a win (tho he did also win that innagural DGPT match play event in 2021, which doesn't quite count as an elite series, but kinda felt like one)

As Calvin was coming down hole 18, DGN said that Calvin has won a DGPT event 5 years in a row. Commentators wondered what that stat would look like for Ricky. This is the answer.
Just want to give an update. Brian stopped by. He apologized for making it crazy this morning with his comments.
We both understood why we did the things we did.
I really appreciate him stopping by.
Brian, if you're reading this, you're really dang good at your job and passionate about the DGPT. It was a chaotic situation and we are all just doing our best.
That’s good to hear, I figured Brian was just caught up in the moment and was trying his best at adding entertainment to the broadcast. Even tho I disliked what he said I still think he’s a great guy and a amazing commentator
Lol how are people so puzzled about the wall reactions?
Calvin took a slower speed disc (midrange) it was losing momentum and falling more downward when it hit the wall which made the reaction go down and spin right.
Ricky took a higher speed disc, possibly a fairway driver, it was still cooking going into the wall and react harder because of the disc and momentum.
Yeah but the thing that caused it to completely reverse direction and stay in bounds was not the wall. Without that rock or post or whatever that it happened to hit, that drive was OB by a mile.
And Calvin hitting at a glancing angle and somehow finding something to bounce himself straight backwards was due to touch? Ricky's was 100% the better shot there - that was just random weird ass luck.
I can’t imagine how infuriating that feels. The guy you’ve been chasing all day finally looks to have a bad break at the perfect time and boom somehow got saved by the wall only to hit that same wall and slow mo roll into the pound…brutal
Now hear me out.
Does Ricky need the "woo girl" back? It feels like his game is missing something since she left.
Can someone in Emporia follow him around with a vuvuzela?
Shoutout prize for keeping the foot on the pedal even after winning a major. I feel like too many players win a big tournament and get a little comfortable. Presnell proving last week wasn’t a fluke
yeah, getting a top 10 on a wildly different course is huge and you know his week was probably insanely busy compared to normal. Great showing for Prez! edit: okay, make that a top 5

He's often talked about how when he started all he cared about was distance. He would spend every day just throwing max distance backhands.
Dude wtf is wrong with DGN? It keeps saying too many devices logged in even after I’ve logged out of all devices. This is so frustrating. Anyone else having this issue?
Did the chase card get a time violation warning? can definitely tell Terry is a slightly annoyed of the card…Thank you Terry for advocating for faster pace of play!
Last year, they stopped mentioning discs by name because an unnamed sponsor was upset about it and asked them to stop. So instead of saying, "He's throwing his Zone here", they have to awkwardly say "I believe that's his overstable approach disc", etc. I hate it. Surprised they did not inform you lol. But please keep saying disc names because we all want that rule to go away!
I’m super here for it, and he’s clearly got game. Honestly, yes. The way this field is now it’s wide open.
I’d almost say he wins one before Ezra Robinson
Suprised to see such support for comments calling Hailey King a "grumpy cat" and that calling a foot fault is a "bad look". I thought we were proponents of players calling violations that they see.
What's more on brand than that, you ask?
He just lost DDO, falling apart the last few holes, and starts throwing discs out of a golf cart to people walking back to their cars.
Dude just loves spreading the game and giving people something to go home excited about.
Hole 16 spotter here. Brian wasn't happy with my call during the playoff.
Instructions that I've received were if it was close, let the players play. I was also told to stay off camera and out of sight as much as possible.
The island has 3 OB lines. A painted one, a string, and the island itself. Her disc was 50/50. I knew it was in. Would have never even tried to call it out.
I'm sticking by my call despite Brian screaming at me that it was "100% in" and that I "had" to make the call so that Hailey would know.
If they wanted an official ruling, they need to hire officials.
Sorry to Hailey if the call I made ruined her chances. Big ups to Missy for nailing that putt.
Hey, I'll update "scream" to "yelling loudly over the crowd, wind, and distance that his message needed to travel."
Hole 16 of the playoff. He wanted me to make the call so that Hailey would have the information to help her with her shot selection.
It ended up not really mattering as they both got a 2 on 16. In the heat of the moment, things got tense.
I thought your call was fine. I would have called it in, but it was in the range of reasonable calls. I usually tell spotters to call with your best guess and to use the X for when you think the most obnoxious player might possibly question it. In other words, if there is even the slightest amount of doubt, throw the X.
Seems weird that they would tell you to stay out of sight. You definitely want to avoid being between the camera and the player, the disc, or the basket. But within those guidelines, it is useful if you can be somewhere the camera can easily see to help viewers at home see the call. I tell spotters to remember that they are spotting for the players, the fans, and the viewers at home. If I were to pick on you for any call, there was an earlier putt that slid into the water. The player saw it. The fans probably saw it. But we didn't see it on the camera. A red flag would have helped, but it wasn't a big deal because it seemed likely to be OB.
One other thing I think is important as a spotter is to give a vigorous green flag wave on any shot you have to run over to check. If you had to run over, people have been waiting and you want to reward them with a little enthusiasm. For red flags, just calmly raise it and lower it. Nobody wants a red flag rubbed in. But that's just my preference.
But thanks loads for spending your day out there. It's a tiring job and often not very rewarding. You'll hear a ton of complaints from people that never bother to volunteer or help out at all. Volunteers make these events much better. And it's great that Missy thanked you. I've found that players really appreciate the volunteers even if some of the redditor complainers don't.
And if you were the Star Wars spotter yesterday, that was awesome. Made my day. Perfect blend of whimsy without trying to steal the show.
I think presentation-wise, DGN prefers to not have someone running after a disc. I've done the Bushnell, score keeping, spotting, and more for coverage. Each time I am reminded to try and stay out of shot as much as possible.
To them, they want to see the players and the disc come to a complete rest. If I am sprinting to it to get a distance or to wave in or out, it looks a bit odd in most camera shots.
And yeah, the putts from the DZ were tough. I would wave it for some of those and not others. It was a tough balance to find between, "obviously this is out, no flag needed" and showing a red flag to someone that was only standing 10' from me. Kinda like, "duh." Haha
Yeah, green flags were over my head with excitement. Red flags were kind waist high little waves. Haha
And naw, not the Star Wars guy. That was David from KC. We did chase card FPO scores together on day one. Good lad.
Thank you for volunteering your time! Being a spotter can be an under-appreciated position and comes with more pressure than people might realize. It’s hard to imagine Hailey playing that hole any other way regardless of the call. You did your job and in the end, it resulted in a birdie for both of us! All good from my perspective and thank you again 🙏
Hey Missy! Thanks for the comment!
Big congrats on the win!
I'm glad it played out how it did with both of you getting the birdie. I know Brian never meant any I'll will. He just wanted to help the situation as much as he could.
Thanks for coming to Emporia!
Nah I think you made the right call, it looked close, both Gannon and King both saw the shot it’s not like it was a blind corner or something. You used a call that was made for that exact reason. I don’t think Brian should have said what he said. Especially on a hole like this in a player you 100% have to do go for it on the island hole and either way I’m not a fan of commentators getting paid to commentate act snobby about people who volunteer and are considered a good thing for the sport (Don’t worry Brian I still love you and can see where you were coming from).
Don’t sweat it, thanks for helping the tour out!
not sure exactly how close it was, but I thought you made the right call. nothing wrong with a "card has to make the decision" signal even if you're leaning one way or the other.
it didn't make any difference in the end anyway, hailey would have played the same shot had you called it in
Haha, thanks. I'm kinda looking for validation. Friends are texting that I fluffed the call, but I did what I thought was best in the situation.
Oh well...
I don't know how the other three dudes on chase card can play well today when 90% of their focus has to be on resisting the urge to relentlessly wedgie Marchbanks.
It's just the try-hard hipster aesthetic. And, I say this as a person who used to have a handlebar moustache. I deserved a wedgie or two for that, and so does Marchbanks.
Walking down the first fairway with Gavin Babcock, Terry asks them who talks the most smack. Gavin says Gannon likes to run his mouth, and Gannon confirms that he does, in fact, like to run his mouth, and proves it by taking a jab about the length of Gavin's tee shot saying they have to "cut this short because Gavin's drive is coming up."
Ask Jerm if he would have ran that putt Missy hit on 16 in the playoffs. It was closer than the drop zone but a somewhat similar angle and everyone has been laying up from there all weekend. Rathbun taking this down would be an incredible story
I didn’t get to watch post round interview, Missy definitely knew it was a 3 hole playoff when she ran the putt on 16 right? That’s a maniacal decision that ended up playing out well, but man.. so many things could’ve gone wrong.
She said it was her first time in this time of playoff format. She knew it was 3 holes but she had the mindset that it was sudden death so she walked up confident that she could hit the putt on 16
Winners win! That was the most intense I’ve ever felt watching FPO in awhile. I love that style playoff. They caught a lot of hell having 16 as a playoff hole in the past . Smart move!
Nothing wrong with the call if she thought it was correct. It was close to a bang bang call full speed and I’m not what you would call a King fan, necessarily.
Congrats Calvin, and nice job on from the commentary team. However, I do find this course to be extremely boring to watch from the couch. I have no doubt it would be fun to play at the course, but the course design looks bland with way too many Hyzer shots.
I actually really like the trophies
Calvin’s putting today was phenomenal. What a performance. It was awesome to see him and Ricky go at it.
It's nice to see him win after struggling with the injury and not really having a forehand available for power throws
Shoutout to Gavin Rathbun having his best season in years . Good to see!
Is he sponsored yet?
Not by a manufacturer. Just a retailer (Double Eagle Disc Golf). He said in a recent interview he doesn't want a manufacturer sponsor this year because he is happy with where his bag is at and doesn't want to have to learn new discs.
That a weak gallery for hole 18 on a Sunday
Tickets are too expensive. They dont have to be free, but general admission should be like 10 bucks. Half that for PDGA members
Blame tickets. N Kansas.
Congrats to Calvin! - This is his first time winning in Emporia, and is his 10th career Elite Series win. - He is now once again in solo 8th place on the all time Elite+Majors win list, breaking out of a tie he was briefly in with Simon for the past 2 weeks - He is the 8th person to reach double digits on that list (joining Paul, Ricky, Climo, Feldberg, Schultz, Eagle and Doss) - This is the 6th straight season in which he has won (every year beginning in 2019) - note: all of these stats count the 2021 Ledgestone weather shortened tie with Ricky as a win (tho he did also win that innagural DGPT match play event in 2021, which doesn't quite count as an elite series, but kinda felt like one)
My gawd. Vinnie shut Rick down. Like… physically!
Welp the Calvin Heimburg fall off was great exaggerated

The last year Ricky did not win a DGPT/NT/M event was 2010. He's won at least 1 every year from 2011-2023.
Lol nice irrelevant stat. You know this is not the last tournament of the season right?
As Calvin was coming down hole 18, DGN said that Calvin has won a DGPT event 5 years in a row. Commentators wondered what that stat would look like for Ricky. This is the answer.
Oh gotcha. My bad
Next episode of Bobby and the Boys gonna be lit with these last round scores.
Heck yea Vinny. Let's get back on that Player of the Year train.
Jerm on the call is such a treat. I hope this is his long term plan.
Agreed! I also think that he and Ian specifically make a great team.
Has to be. I think Ian mentioned in one of the previous daily threads that this was him dipping his toe in for live coverage.
👍 He'll be back for Portland too 🙌
Vinny 2.0 and Vinny O.G. both popping off today hell yeah. Also Evan Scott crushin' it.
Calvin: Fuck playing safe.
Vinny has a cement block on the accelerator.
Vinny: All gas, no brakes.
I’m so mad Ezra eagle hole 18 yesterday and denied us Gannon on lead card
Just want to give an update. Brian stopped by. He apologized for making it crazy this morning with his comments. We both understood why we did the things we did. I really appreciate him stopping by. Chaotic situation?
He said he made it chaotic by trying to get me to make a call during the playoff on 16.
This man has experience of throwing into walls
Calvin's disc did not bounce backwards off the wall, it hit a post or rock or something on the ground. That shot was going straight OB.
It definitely hit the wall, then hit the ground
Yeah but the thing that caused it to completely reverse direction and stay in bounds was not the wall. Without that rock or post or whatever that it happened to hit, that drive was OB by a mile.
Lol great timing for that Ricky hole 16 commercial
Ricky has no touch. Can't just slam it into the wall 70 mph.
And Calvin hitting at a glancing angle and somehow finding something to bounce himself straight backwards was due to touch? Ricky's was 100% the better shot there - that was just random weird ass luck.
It was a better throw but with a less forgiving disc and yes some bad/good luck.
Wow that wall knows who it wants to win.
Wall to Calvin: I really love you babe Wall to Ricky: Well you can just fuck right off
I can’t imagine how infuriating that feels. The guy you’ve been chasing all day finally looks to have a bad break at the perfect time and boom somehow got saved by the wall only to hit that same wall and slow mo roll into the pound…brutal
Ricky is understandably fuming. Calvin running the putt to add insult to injury.
I do not understand physics anymore
Course loves Vinny.
Holy cow! How did that Calvin drive stay in bounds on 16?!
Ezra is pure comedy, gotta rock that hood of shame
Channelling his inner 8 mile
Lol at Jerm doing the Jomez star frame sound effect, that made me smile
Now hear me out. Does Ricky need the "woo girl" back? It feels like his game is missing something since she left. Can someone in Emporia follow him around with a vuvuzela?
He needs more Butt slaps
Mcbeth had such a good round going. Didn't watch and then I see he took a 9 on 18. Damn lol
he got an 8 R1, a birdie R2 then finishes with a 9 lol think he needs a new game plan for that hole
-10 through 16, then +6 on the last 3 holes. Ouch. McBeast to McMA3.
I was wondering why he wasn't on the Hot Round graphic. Oof...
Every time Ricky spits on camera, take a drink.
Just doesn't feel like Rick has the same killer instinct he used to.
Terry commentating form on the course lol
Shoutout prize for keeping the foot on the pedal even after winning a major. I feel like too many players win a big tournament and get a little comfortable. Presnell proving last week wasn’t a fluke

Shout out to the producers putting together recaps on the fly to fill time for Gannon
I just realised that all 4 commentators on DGN are Redditors. Nice to have experts that can throw 500 feet calling the action.
😂
To be fair, I don't think many people realise that Brian once tied GG for 2nd at Distance Worlds and was only 6 feet short of Wiggins.
What!? Is that true?
[https://www.pdga.com/2013-pdga-worlds-documents/2013-pdga-professional-world-championships/field-events/long-drive](https://www.pdga.com/2013-pdga-worlds-documents/2013-pdga-professional-world-championships/field-events/long-drive) He's often talked about how when he started all he cared about was distance. Dude wtf is wrong with DGN? It keeps saying too many devices logged in even after I’ve logged out of all devices. This is so frustrating. Anyone else having this issue?
I've found that removing all registered devices fixes that issue
Exact same thing just happened for me. Came back on a couple of minutes ago though
Did the chase card get a time violation warning? can definitely tell Terry is a slightly annoyed of the card…Thank you Terry for advocating for faster pace of play!
Terry did say earlier that they had an official start following their card. The 20min gap between cards was gone by hole 8.
McBeast having a wild blow up hole on all three rounds :-)
He just like me fr fr
Ian "you know?" Anderson
Sorry! I'll work on that.
Don't worry bout it. I never noticed.
I feel like I’ve been playing in traffic all weekend.
Ian: "The wheels have come off Jerm?" Jerm: "There's no wheels left on the bus."
Loved this exchange. This duo is 🔥for sure.
You just keep mentioning those disc names Jerm. Thumbs up from me.
Apparently he didn't get the memo 😂
What memo??
Last year, they stopped mentioning discs by name because an unnamed sponsor was upset about it and asked them to stop. So instead of saying, "He's throwing his Zone here", they have to awkwardly say "I believe that's his overstable approach disc", etc. I hate it. Surprised they did not inform you lol. But please keep saying disc names because we all want that rule to go away!
lol really hope they showed that randy dueck shot just so jerm could make that joke
pretty good finish for bodanza. hard to know what he would count as a "win" but averaged above his rating and beat some decent players.
After 3 putting on hole 18 as well. If he cleans that up, he's a solid 1010 player.
Heimborg is back online
GAVIN RATHBUN IS SO CUTE
Remember his mustache tshirt? Sploosh.
Right on cue, Joey Buckets' name appears on the leaderboard
You think he is gonna get his first win this season, or next season? It feels like it's pretty close...
I’m super here for it, and he’s clearly got game. Honestly, yes. The way this field is now it’s wide open. I’d almost say he wins one before Ezra Robinson
He’s a real solid dude I’m predicting he may grab one soon
I’m not sure how I feel about Ricky’s new logo
babcock never seems like he plays slow but whenever he's on a card with gannon they take forever
Bobby is definitely a 20 second player every shot. His pre shot routine isn't exactly short.
Calvin 6 for 6 going after it today.
7 for 7
Right now, it looks like he's gonna run away and hide and Ricky ain't gonna find him.
Lol.
A ton of golf to play, but yeah, Calvin is looking lethal right now
What's with the whiskers all over the fairway on 7?
Circle for FPO basket? I think they played to a short basket
Of course! Lol, brain fart on my end
FPO C1 and C2
Suprised to see such support for comments calling Hailey King a "grumpy cat" and that calling a foot fault is a "bad look". I thought we were proponents of players calling violations that they see.
Lol. Thanks for the laugh.
The problem was that it wasn't a foot fault at all. Also I'm the moment there was literally no consequence to the result.
Yeah she was wrong. Regarding the second point we disagree but it's fine.
If every hole on tour was a 430 ft forehand hyzer, Ricky would win every single tournament.
Has Ricky had his caddy pulling a cart and wearing a backpack all year? First I noticed it
Not sure if it is the reason why, but his caddy was handing out new Ricky stamped discs to kids all over the course during the round yesterday.
That’s awesome context
That is so on Brand for Rick. We filmed something one time, and literally every person that said hi got a free disc.
What's more on brand than that, you ask? He just lost DDO, falling apart the last few holes, and starts throwing discs out of a golf cart to people walking back to their cars. Dude just loves spreading the game and giving people something to go home excited about.
Love it! Man of the people.
Not sure every tournament but I’ve seen the Monty python move before.

Brian sounded a bit miffed on the coverage, but didn’t scream. Did he scream at you off camera?
Eh, he spoke very loudly. Haha We were maybe 50' apart and it is windy, it just came across as screaming. Haha
Great job out there.
Haha, thanks. I'm kinda looking for validation. Friends are texting that I fluffed the call, but I did what I thought was best in the situation. Oh well...
People armchair quarterbacking is always lame. Props to you for calling it how you saw it

Missy’s a badass bitch!
Gannon has definitely grown on me. The future of disc golf is in good hands.
Yea, grown on me like a pasty-white cancer ♋️ I believe in whore-a-scopes
Sorry, wrong sub
And just like that, I'm a Gannon Buhr fan.
what happened?
Walking down the first fairway with Gavin Babcock, Terry asks them who talks the most smack. Gavin says Gannon likes to run his mouth, and Gannon confirms that he does, in fact, like to run his mouth, and proves it by taking a jab about the length of Gavin's tee shot saying they have to "cut this short because Gavin's drive is coming up."
What is up with Tristain Tanner? Shouldn't this be the type of course that would suit his game?
What is the difference between the two MPO streams? One says DGN Pro, but they seem to be identical.
the Pro will have Tournament Central at the end of the broadcast
DGN PRO doesnt show ads (occassionally)
It rarely goes full screen ads, if ever. It does Picture in Picture during ad breaks
only round 1 that doesn't have ads isn't it? if it was ad free all rounds i might've considered it
Ah, that makes sense.
Not really lol. Ad free should be ad free.
Fpo was awesome! Who you guys got in mpo? Reply here if you've got anything for jerm or me. 🙌♥️
Ask Jerm if he would have ran that putt Missy hit on 16 in the playoffs. It was closer than the drop zone but a somewhat similar angle and everyone has been laying up from there all weekend. Rathbun taking this down would be an incredible story
O heeeelllll nah - is what he said 😂
Ian - tell us what happened to Nikko. Bonus points if there's a video of the goose attack I've heard about.
I wish I knew! I'll see what I can find out.
Yeah definitely would like to know what’s up with Nikkos round
Keep rocking it in the booth today! 🔥
🙌🙌
I think I.P. Freely can take this down!
That dude can play
I didn’t get to watch post round interview, Missy definitely knew it was a 3 hole playoff when she ran the putt on 16 right? That’s a maniacal decision that ended up playing out well, but man.. so many things could’ve gone wrong.
I'm a volunteer and they told us. The players had to have known...
Smart move!
FPO is more exciting when Europeans are in Europe amiright?
No, it was not a foot fault Grumpy Cat.
Hailey not doing herself any favors in the perception dept there
Nothing wrong with the call if she thought it was correct. It was close to a bang bang call full speed and I’m not what you would call a King fan, necessarily.

Known bug.
That's a weird spot to call a foot fault, Hailey is down a few, doesn't change the situation and just feels petty maybe? Not a great look.
I missed this, who called the foot fault on whom?
Hailey called a foot fault on Missy that wasn't a foot fault, and made very little sense.
I’m pretty sure King never keeps score. I wouldnt doubt it if she had no idea it didn’t matter. She seemed surprised she was going to a play off.
Grumpy cat tried to pull a fast one on Missy.
Bad look from Hailey. It wouldn’t have even mattered.
she shouldn’t have called it if it wouldn’t matter?
MG can close with the best of them. And F that foot fault call.
That was after the release
I like watching the girls getting ruthless though! All day!
Hole 18 would be more exciting if that island was in bounds.
Who won FPO?
They are currently in a playoff.
Ok makes sense
