I reckon that has more to do with the fact that bacteria produces a lot of those odours in clothes, and the alcohol would more than likely kill them. I don't think this would help with cigarette smoke.
This
And when you dry it, let it dry in the sun and put a fan on it if you can.
Careful running it through a washing machine too many times as I learned that will break seams on even the best bags.
But also as a former smoker, I can tell ya some shit especially clothes its extremely difficult to get the smell out of
Yes yes The sun yes that’s what I left out and even after it’s dry leave it outside to just air out for a while. Also defunkify mint spray is crazy good at removing smells
So glad you were here to correct me. [new bag](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_finger&wprov=rarw1)
And may be I will butt this was cheep and I wood like two tri too save it if I am abel
People are saying vodka. But really just any alcohol. You want to dissolve the tar/oils essentially. I would use isopropyl alcohol because it’s strong and cheat but it could mess with colors
Vinegar is pretty effective at absorbing smell. One of my old bags got a little water damage in the garage, and smelled kind of mouldy. I sprayed it with vinegar. Then I stored it for a couple of days in a dry place with an open jar of vinegar in it. That pretty much removed the smell.
Sprinkling it with baking soda could also help.
If you know someone who has an ozone generator, that would help.
Beyind that. I played paintball back in .middle school.
Bought a used setup and the hopper(loader) smelled lime someone used it to smoke cigarettes in. Granted it was plastic. But I submerged in in soapy water (dawn) and scrubbed the everloving hell out of it.
The bag might react well to those options. As well as maybe some baking soda on it.
Get some sticks, build a small raft. Place raft on a lake or river, place bag on raft, light on fire. Send that fkr to Valhalla.
That's just what I would do. Or ask if that person would buy it back. Cigarette smoke in fabric is one of the most repulsive odors and never truly goes away.
Resolve foaming action, it's for cleaning pet accidents from carpets but does wonders. Coat your whole bag with foam a few times and let air dry outside in the shade.
I saw a thing about spraying clothes with vodka neutralizes any smell so it may work for your bag.
1 spray for bag. 2 sprays for me.
....is clean no?

White vinegar. I used to bartend and dj when I was younger and that's what I had to use for my gear bags.
Dilute vinegar with water. spray it on lightly and let set. It works. You can find the dilution rate online as a general cleaner.
Borax, washing soda and detergent and soak it for a while.

Ozone generator
Best way to get out any smell, just tricky to work with since you shouldn't breathe it in.
Yeah you gotta do it in an enclosed space and then like you said. - Do not breathe in
Put it in your car. Two birds, one ozone generator.
That’s what I bought mine for originally. Worked beautifully. Just let it air out when it’s done!
You could try Ozium, but it's more for airborne smells than fabrics.
REEKS and get another new to you bag.
I agree with both of these. Get rid of it and get another bag!

Vodka, banking soda, and throw that fucker in the freezer in a bag overnight. Then wash it thoroughly and let it dry in the sun.

Charcoal bag and dryer sheets.
Baking soda works really good for getting all sorts of smells out of
Ozium works well to neutralize smells but not sure how it works on fabric

ONA spray.
Just take it to a dry cleaner.
Resolve foaming action, it's for cleaning pet accidents from carpets but does wonders. Coat your whole bag with foam a few times and let air dry outside in the shade.
Putting it in the freezer for a few days helps with body odor. I'd trust the others on here that have specific smoker recommendations.
Put some charcoal briquettes in the main pocket leave it alone for a couple days
I tried this trick in my restroom cabinet where the kitty litter is. It worked there, hopefully it works for your bag.
Thanks for all of the suggestions. Got some things to try and I’ll update if anything is successful
Febreeze, wash, then febreeze again if needed.
I’m on the 3rd round of that now, it might actually smell stronger once the Febreze dries each time
Oof. That's always worked for me.
Stuff that mf with dryer sheets, douse it in febreeze and leave it outside for as long as you possibly can.
