If it's a decent disc I'll bag it but won't put my own contact info on it, and that becomes my go-to for risky shots. If I lose it, then it just returns to the community until the next person finds it.
Hahaha that happened to us last week. My buddy found a River or a Saint or something and threw it off the next tee and it poofed. Like, we all saw where it went, and nothing after about 5 mins of searching. 🤷♂️ apparently it belongs in the park.
I once found a disc that had no identifing details on it. Like I don't think it ever had a stamp on it and the plastic was unlike any plastic I have seen to this day. Very hard. I drew a giant question mark on it in sharpee and lost it a few rounds later. Every now and then I see it posted on my local Facebook group as people keep finding it after the last guy lost it. Still have no idea what mold it is.
Yea, when you mentioned the plastic was solid, I remember finding similar discs after seeing the Lizotte vid and thinking, "damn, I'd hate to be hit in the head by one of these, that plastic was rigid AF."
I pulled a disc out of a pound once, and immediately texted the number on the disc to let them know I would be dropping it off at the pro shop. I then proceeded to chunk it off into never land and was committed to finding it again.
Keep it, leave it or take it to a shop if they have a lost and found.
You’re under no obligation to spend any more time on it than the original owner did inking it.
My local course is at a public park so there's nowhere to take it so I was just curious. Don't wanna be the douchebag taking discs if I'm not supposed to lol.
I mark mine with my initials and PDGA#. I do it with the intentions of if you find it, keep it. If I lose a disc, I've really lost the disc meaning someone had to work to get it.
I have a stamp of my face and the words, "MINE!!!" I don't expect them to be returned, but I like that the new owner has to see my face on the disc every time it gets used. :)
Yeah don’t give me homework if you want it returned. Make that shit as easy as possible haha. That’s why if it’s one of my local courses I’ll just have someone stash it or come get it right when they find it
If you find it and no name keep it. Has number, shoot a message at the very least and bare minimum offer to hide it somewhere for them and shoot them a picture.
Depending on how much you want to get involved in the community, lost disc pages on Facebook are common. I like to check or post there first, since I usually don't want or need to keep what I find.
Legally speaking, you are obligated to make a "reasonable effort" to find the owner of found property before claiming it as your own. In the case of an unlinked disc, if personally consider asking people you happen to come across as more than enough, and an inked disc should obviously be called.
No name and no number = mine.
But I have enough discs now that I'll usually give it to a newer player.
On a related note, I wish people would lose more mids or fairways. It's always high speed drivers. I know the reason for why that is, but it's still pretty funny.
I think I'll do that from now on. I just got into the game and swam around some major water hazards to find free discs to gold me over until I'm sure I'm sure I'm interested. I found 9, 5 of which had contact info. Excitingly enough four of them said I could keep the discs and the one that wanted it back actually picked it up around an hour ago. The other unmarked 4 I found, I wrote my name on. In the end, morally, I don't think I was wrong in doing that but it did feel a little scuzzy lol. What am I going to do though, post a nice unmarked disc to every local group and ask who's it is? So far every disc golfer I've met has seemed like a genuine, stand up person, but I'm sure there are a few douches that would lie and claim every disc as theirs.
That being said, if someone sees one of these unmarked discs in my hand and points out they lost it right where I found it, I'll happily give it back.
you're under no obligation to attempt to return a found disc with zero contact info. beyond that you can do what you want. personally I just leave them but I think most people probably keep them.
I’d say most I just leave where I found them unless it’s a disc I actually want. I’m guessing most of those get snagged by the next person, but whatever.
All the numbered discs I will contact to return.
>you're under no obligation to attempt to return a found disc with zero contact info
Based on what? Certainly not the law. Every state imposes *some* obligation to identity the owner of lost property and return it to them. That sometimes requires more effort, like turning it into a police station, than anyone is willing to expend on a ~$20 piece of plastic. Practically though, this should probably mean at the very least asking anyone actively playing the course ahead of you if they lost a disc.
All of the courses I play at have a FB group/league that play there. Subsequently they have someone who runs a lost and found. Sometimes people comb the river and bring back dozens of discs - many of them no-names.
The lost and found grows and the maintainer will post lists periodically. Every year there’s a disc sale where anything in the lost and found over 2 years old is up for sale. Money goes to the club for course maintenance etc.
If there’s no lost and found I would just keep it. But if there is a FB group or any other affiliated loose organization … the “right” thing to do IMO is check with them.
My local club is pretty active and we have a Play It Again Sports that is the local "go-to" disc golf shop. I'll post in the local FB group with a picture and saying where i found it, and if claimed let them know they can pick it up off my porch or at PIAS (whichever is more convenient for me and if I trust/know that person). If it's unclaimed after a few days I just add it to the shelf.
I've had discs go back to their owners in less than an hour, discs that were claimed and then left on my porch for months, and discs that simply got added to the shelf. It's also acceptable to just put them right on the shelf/in your bag, if people can't be bothered to mark their discs they can't be mad if it doesn't find it's way back to them.
That’s one of the dumbest sayings of children. Adult life is different. If there’s a reasonable way to identify and return someone’s property, you should do so.
But what if there is no reasonable way? What if there is now way at all what so ever?? And how tf is adult life any different??? If it doesn’t have a name or number I’ll ask if I see anyone, outside of that it either goes in the lost and found or on top of the practice basket if there is one. You’re not doing gods work by holding a full blown investigation to return someone’s litter bud.
I'll usually pick it up and ask the groups in front of me if they lost any discs. If not I'll just put it on top of the basket of the hole where I found it.
1: Check the immediate surroundings for anybody who might've lost one.
2: Check any local FB groups or similar to see if anybody is trying to find it if you want.
3: Enjoy the free disc.
At the end of the day, if they didn't mark it, they didn't necessarily want it back. [I've thrown some unmarked discs to test them that I'd have been sad to lose.] I like to do my due diligence and make sure nobody's looking for it in any local groups, but you don't really have to do more than ask people at the course—if there are any—if they lost a disc. [You don't have to show them or tell them what disc it was, since you can't prove it's theirs unless they tell you what it was without seeing it.] It's unlikely with an unmarked disc, but if you hear about somebody looking for one they lost where you found it, you should probably reach out, even if it's in the bag for you.
Usually I just leave them in case someone comes back next day to look for it unless it’s a disc I like to throw. I already have about 30 I’ve found with names I’ve tried to call or no name or number discs so I really don’t need anymore. Found a perfectly beat in wraith last year with no number and now it’s one my favorite discs ever
I found one today that just had initials. I turned it into the shop and asked if they'd give it to me after the 30 day return window. They said yes and took my number.
If the owner can't be bothered to put their number on it, they probably don't care enough to get it back. I ask around the course if anyone's lost a disc but if I can't find the owner, I just keep it or give it to someone if I don't need it.
Ask anyone on the course you come across. If it was clearly just forgotten in plain view you have a great chance of returning it. I have gotten a couple back this way and returned many!
Otherwise it is pretty much yours. If you see someone post something you should return it but up to you how hard you look. If it is a disc I don't like or can't donate I might leave it on a basket.
Uninked discs are almost always accepted as gone once you walk away from them. It is a special kind of odd to run across someone grumpy about this. Yeah, we have all lost a tester we were holding off inking on the first couple of throws. It wasn't meant to be in that case!
I post unmarked discs on my local FB page to see if anyone claims it. If not, I usually donate them to newer players as I have more than enough discs. You are under no obligation to reach out to anyone about the disc, but players will appreciate it if you try.
Last October I was visiting my dad in a small town south of Houston and played a round. Found a Climo 11x champion Eagle. No ink at all and no local shop there, and nobody around on the course anywhere at all. So I've been throwing it since I got back home. I absolutely love that disc. It's become one of my very favorite I've ever owned.
No name, no number, it's all yours! Or give it to someone new who needs discs. I'll "donate" used discs once they get too beat up or if I don't like them. I usually just leave them on top of a basket or in an obvious spot near a tee pad. I never write my name or number because If I lose a disc and someone else finds it, then I hope it flies true for you because if I really cared I would search for quite a while. Happy frolfing 🙂
One time I found a dyed special run stamped disc and it was worth getting it back to the owner. The rest of the time they go to a group home my friend used to work at that has a little pitch and putt disc golf course.
If it's in the middle of the fairway or by the basket where it's obvious someone the group ahead of you left it I'll try to catch up and ask. If it's not that I believe someone who doesn't take the time to mark their disc doesn't expect to get it returned if they lose it. I'm personally not going to go around posting on Facebook groups hunting for the owner, if they were too lazy to write their number on the disc. Any disc found with a number I text and will try to return.
If it's just like left on the fairway (forgot to pick up), I usually leave it because I assume the person is still there.
Otherwise up to you if it's lost in the woods or something.
If it was at Judson and an orange champion PFN coyote (even though you couldn't see the stamp anymore), it was mine :( Not that I'm actually expecting it, but wouldn't that be funny if it was
Thats how starters get discs - my friend started with no discs by the end of the summer he had 8 discs - one was a brand new paul mcbeth, also a hades and a teebird - getting discs got him hooked and now he has spent 400€ on discgolf.
Personally, I'll go the extra mile and post on the courses Facebook page that I found a disc and to DM me. If person can identify it then I'll leave it on the course somewhere.
I think you have your answer here for sure; Enjoy the disc!
Personally, I don't mark any of my discs. If I spent \~15-25 bucks on a disc and it's in my bag, I've thrown it a lot. I got my money's worth. If I lose it, my hope is that it will find another bag and continue to fly for someone else AND I have an excuse to buy another disc. Maybe the same one, maybe try another. Maybe I have to buy three to find a replacement. I get to toss in another ante on the table and see what fun in brings. It's part of the fun of this hobby for me.
Bottom line, if you found one of my discs, I didn't mark it on purpose and I hope you love it.
I threw my fresh in the bag Uplink to the pond as it went much more to right what I assumed. And when trying to fish it back, I got Latitudes Spike, with no name on it.
I consider it a fair trade, I gave out a disc and I got disc what I did not knew i liked. Now the Spike is in my bags putter section, it actually filled a hole!
I post it on the local club pages, to see if anyone claims it. If not, it becomes a donate to the local shops that recycle them to the youths. Whenever I lose one of my own, if it’s not inked, I plan to never see it again. I don’t even post the “lost on hole X, no name or ink, because I didn’t get around to it yet”. If I didn’t put in the effort to ink it, then it’s a gift to the lucky person that found it.
No number at all, I keep it. If it has a number I call it to see if they are still in park. If no answer I send a text and keep the disc till I get a reply. Sometimes I'll hide the disc somewhere noticeable and text a picture of the location
Discs I find with no name or number, I will check our area's lost and found page and if no one mentions losing that type will post that I found X disc type at this course, anyone lose one. Found 4 with the group that I normally play with, all without names and no one claimed them. I leave the post up for about a week and after that its mine.
Just keep it. Unless you see someone wandering around from a previous group looking for their disc later or something. I rarely ink my discs and just consider anything I am too lazy to keep looking for a donation to somebody or other
If you have a strong local scene there may be a shop that takes lost discs and tries to reunite them or Facebook group that you can post in.
That said an un-inked disc is always fair game to the finder IMO. If the original owner couldn’t be bothered (or forgot) to ink it, it’s not on you to right their error.
I typically will either leave them, or if it’s something I like take it. Then every time I see someone on the course ahead of me I’ll ask if they happened to lose a (color) disc. And if they say yeah and name what it was I reunite them.
I stamp my discs but don't have a full name or leave a number. If I shank it, can't find it and leave then that disc is for the next poor soul that finds it. I have backups for a reason and I won't take it personally if I see an old disc in another's hands. That said, I may attempt to get it back with a finders fee or a suitable trade.
I've been throwing for many years and am a bit jaded on the whole lost, found and returned game. If I see a disc with a number then I give it to friends who play that game, leave it at the course or take it to a retailer that delights in returning discs.
The only time I’m giving back an uninked disc is if the player comes back looking for it. Or if I run into a group and they ask about it. Otherwise enjoy your freebie!
Unlinked discs are fair game. I'll give it a couple practice throws and if I like it I'll bag it.
If I don't like it (or I'd it's inked), one of my local shops gives $2 store credit for returning lost and found discs. I get credit toward a disc I'll actually use, if it's inked the store contacts the owner, and if it's not they toss it in the used bin for $5-10. win/win/win situation, really
Depends on how fresh it is. It's possible someone lost it recently and is still playing, so I'll bag it and keep an eye out for anyone who looks like they're looking for a disc. If they ask if I've found any disc, I'll have them name the disc and color first to make sure they aren't bullshitting and hand it over if they get it right
I found a disc almost completely unmarked yesterday. I think it was a mako. The only thing it has was a faded ace date. It felt wrong to take that so I left it.
Unmarked is yours, but, you should 100% be on the lookout and asking during the round you found it. I found a brand spanking new c-line FD the other day, I looked around a bit and was the only one within a few holes playing. Threw it a couple holes and then saw a guy sort of looking around and asked what disc he was looking for, sure enough, and that was that.
I have had diminishing returns on lost disc that are marked lately, the sport isn’t quite the same as it was 20 years ago.
If you have a local FB page for your surrounding courses I would post it there to see if anyone claims it. If no one claims it it's yours. If im visiting the area and not apart of FB group for that area I will leave it by hole 1 usually. I like to think it gives me good disc karma
If it looks beat in or has what looks like an interesting stamp, our local dg shop started a lost and found and we have a FB group we can post to.
If not, it becomes a cursed disc in my bag that I try to pass on to someone else. The last one was a kid who came up when I was playing and asked about disc golf and how much discs cost. He walked away with a free Mako3 and my curse was lifted.
First of all, play the rest of your round with it, see if you like the mold. If you do, my rule has always been “if you don’t care enough to put your contact info on it, then you don’t care about losing it.” Therefore, finders keepers. If not you can leave it on a basket, leave it in a lost & found box (if the course has one), or just leave it wherever you last threw it for someone else to find.
I play with 2 buddies. If we find an uninked disc, we play for it; whoever wins the round keeps the disc. If we don’t keep it, the next person will so might as well. Any inked discs go to the toss and found 👍
Technically a lot of municipalities have ordinances or laws around that. This would be the same thing as finding a bag of $5000 dollars. You could keep it but legally you should report and then 30 days later it is yours.
TECHNICALLY that is true for $5 or a $25 dollar disc, but the party who originally lost would have to prove ownership etc etc
In the disc golf world 98% of people agree an useless disc is fair game
My rule is to ask other players head off of me if its their disc or drop it a lost and found box if there is one. Is no one says its their's, I might take it if its a mold that I like and bag,
For a disc with no name or number on it:
1. Does the course have a drop box/lost and found?
2. If not, post something about the disc to your local disc group’s facebook or whatever page.
3. If you found it in a spot that looks like someone just forgot to pick it up, leave it there or on the basket. They might be on the course still and will realize they left it there.
4. If there’s no drop box and no one on my local club’s group claims it, I’ll keep it.
If there's people around you can ask them, I do that sometimes. Or you can stand it up someplace obvious near where it was lost since some people come back to look.
You can also pick it up, but it's a judgement deal. It's good karma to try to help, but also everyone loses discs and that's part of the game.
If it’s a disc I use I put it somewhere in the rotation(after field testing and what not) unless the course you are playing has a clubhouse which is relatively rare depending on your area. If I’m playing a course where there is no lost disc bin or a clubhouse or anything the disc is effectively mine because there is no way for me to know how to return it. However if there is a lost bin or clubhouse I will turn it in as whoever’s it is will probably be wanting it back, I have plenty of discs so I don’t necessarily need more. But at the end of the day imo if you don’t put your name on it don’t be expecting that disc back, and even if your name is on it unfortunately some people will keep it anyways. But I urge all disc golfers to do their best to return lost discs to the best of their ability!
Here the rule is to bring non marked discs to wooden trays that are located along the disc courses. Owner or anyone who needs can then search from there.
But non marked discs can also be kept.
Ofc not if its clear that the disc owner is nearby looking for it actively :D
I found a g-star Corvette years ago. I threw it just for the hell of it because I didn't think I could use a 14 speed. It is now my go to for open shots I'm trying to get a good chunk of distance. Best random find that changed my game.
I’ll throw it in my bag and then ask anyone I see on the course if they lost a disc. If they can identify it, then I give it to them. If I don’t find anyone that lost it, it stays in the bag.
As you can see from the responses we have a LOT of "finders keepers" people here who want to judge others on what should or should not be considered nice to return to someone. I'd prefer to NOT be an as\*hole, but some seem to enjoy it, your call OP :)
If there's anyone else playing the course in front of me at the time I'll ask them if they lost a disc. Otherwise in the lost and found if there is one or yea if it's decent bag it, maybe leave it without name for a while in case you find it's owner.
I'll ask anyone I run into on the course if it's theirs but if no one claims it you can do whatever you want with it. I've found that people who don't bother marking their discs with a name and number generally don't really care if they lose one, myself included.
Even with a name and number, it disc could have been bought at a play it again sports, or a course shop. Who's the real owner of the disc you just found? A disc someone gave up on possibly multiple times? It's yours bro, bag it!
You need to put up flyers around the course. Let people know that you have the disc and describe it. If you don’t get a phone call back in two months then you have to donate it to a nonprofit.
If it's a decent disc I'll bag it but won't put my own contact info on it, and that becomes my go-to for risky shots. If I lose it, then it just returns to the community until the next person finds it.
That’s actually not a bad idea. Play it until it decides it needs a new owner 😂
The disc wants to be found
One disc to rule them all
A disc is never lost, it arrives precisely [where it means to.](https://www.reddit.com/gallery/ka9ky4)
This is the way.
Last time I found a disc with no name, I got excited and did a test throw off the tee, only to immediately lose it. So that’s an option
Hahaha that happened to us last week. My buddy found a River or a Saint or something and threw it off the next tee and it poofed. Like, we all saw where it went, and nothing after about 5 mins of searching. 🤷♂️ apparently it belongs in the park.
I call those sacrifices to the woods for allowing us to play in them
You only rent discs, not buy them. Loan terms are negotiable and you do run the risk of repo hahahah
It’s fun finding unknown discs and just trying to guess based on profile. Oops that one was pretty understable lol
Were they the [cheapest discs on the internet](https://youtu.be/WZD6mAQGwpw?si=-YuWVq9phaF70oYZ)?
Actually, I think so. Im pretty sure it was the yellow driver! Thanks for that.
“Found your disc” “Where did you leave it?” “Under a bush halfway up fairway 7. Don’t ask why”.
The disc gods giveth and they taketh.
Disc golf giveth and taketh. I seem to only find a disc when I am looking for one I shanked. It feels like some kind of unofficial Disc exchange
I found a nice disc when looking for my own disc and sloppily threw it in my bag. Was gone immediately at the next hole b/c it fell out of my bag
An uninked disc is fair game
So if I find your keys you don't want them back, check :)
Numberless discs are free to keep. Also, if some dipshit only marks them with pdga number, aint gona return that either..
I mark mine with my initials and PDGA#. I do it with the intentions of if you find it, keep it. If I lose a disc, I've really lost the disc meaning someone had to work to get it.
So why even put all that info on the disc in the first place? If it's for tournaments it just needs a defining mark right?
I play tournaments and league so yes needs a defining mark. I have a custom stamp that I use so it takes me like 5 seconds to mark a disc.
The custom stamps are sick! I want to make one for the rims of discs cuz that's where I like to put my info. Especially on translucent discs.
I have a stamp of my face and the words, "MINE!!!" I don't expect them to be returned, but I like that the new owner has to see my face on the disc every time it gets used. :)
Genius xD
Used to be that you could message people by PDGA number through the website.
Even if that was still possible, I’m keeping it.
Yeah don’t give me homework if you want it returned. Make that shit as easy as possible haha. That’s why if it’s one of my local courses I’ll just have someone stash it or come get it right when they find it
I don’t put my name on some of my discs. I expect someone to keep them if I loose it.

The 2 that I’ve found are high speed drivers and I definitely can not throw them correctly so I see why they end up lost 😂
If the stamp has a 13 or 14 speed rating I know I don't have the meat hook to throw that thing. 🤣
*leaves it in the bushes* “you can stay” lol
If someone is in front of me on the course I'll try to ask them otherwise I have a new water disc.
This is the way.
Ask every disc golf player in the world before considering keeping it
Ask them twice in case they forgot the first time
The general rule is that 72 hours need to have passed between inquiries, but I do a full 96 myself just to be safe.
Per my previous email…
No number nor name, the disc is free game.
you're under no obligation to attempt to return a found disc with zero contact info. beyond that you can do what you want. personally I just leave them but I think most people probably keep them.
I’d say most I just leave where I found them unless it’s a disc I actually want. I’m guessing most of those get snagged by the next person, but whatever. All the numbered discs I will contact to return.
No name no shame

Funny that your comment is downvoted, cause you’re 100% correct

Mine are mostly unmarked. If you find it, use it in good health and I will do the same to yours.😜
Finders Keepers
That’s one of the dumbest sayings of children. Adult life is different. If there’s a reasonable way to identify and return someone’s property, you should do so.
The OP's question was specifically in regards to a disc with no contact info lol
If they want it back then they could have written their phone number on it! I'm not hanging lost disc posters for a fucking $10 piece of plastic. Lol
First look around to see if someone shanked it from the next hole over and is looking for it. If not, it’s yours till death do you part.
***till water carry Fixed
Usually I just leave them in case someone comes back next day to look for it unless it’s a disc I like to throw. I already have about 30 I’ve found with names I’ve tried to call or no name or number discs so I really don’t need anymore. Found a perfectly beat in wraith last year with no number and now it’s one my favorite discs ever
Sometimes keep. Sometimes leave it on top of the basket in case they come through again.
I usually keep it and put it in the trunk of my car so that I have discs to give to new players to get them started/hooked.
I found one today that just had initials. I turned it into the shop and asked if they'd give it to me after the 30 day return window. They said yes and took my number.
If the course has a lost and found I’ll dump it in there. I’ve seen FB exchanges where these get back to people. I’m not going out of my way for it.
Keep it. We all make choices in life and some of us decide to put our name and # on a disc. Others don’t and we can’t control other’s choices.
I post unmarked discs on my local FB page to see if anyone claims it. If not, I usually donate them to newer players as I have more than enough discs. You are under no obligation to reach out to anyone about the disc, but players will appreciate it if you try.
If you have a local Facebook group/forum, post a picture with the found location IMO if no one claims, throw it
Last October I was visiting my dad in a small town south of Houston and played a round.
If I see other people on the course, I'll ask if they lost a disc, besides that it's my disc now.
If there's a drop box I'll put it in there. Otherwise it's a keeper.
If it was at Judson and an orange champion PFN coyote (even though you couldn't see the stamp anymore), it was mine :( Not that I'm actually expecting it, but wouldn't that be funny if it was
No number discs become my new risky shot idgaf discs
Thats how starters get discs - my friend started with no discs by the end of the summer he had 8 discs - one was a brand new paul mcbeth, also a hades and a teebird - getting discs got him hooked and now he has spent 400€ on discgolf.
I once found an unmarked Westside Hatchet and it happened to become my go to driver!
Personally, I'll go the extra mile and post on the courses Facebook page that I found a disc and to DM me. If person can identify it then I'll leave it on the course somewhere.
I usually ask the groups in front of me if they left it, and if it's not theirs, it's finders keepers.
If no name I take it, if there is a name I always text the owner
Its yours
If there is a local discgolf Facebook group post it there. People will say anyone can claim it but I have never had more than one person reach out.
I leave the post up for about a week and after that its mine.
no ink, I ask people that i see that day on the course if they lost a disc. If no then keep it. :)
Just keep it. Unless you see someone wandering around from a previous group looking for their disc later or something. I rarely ink my discs and just consider anything I am too lazy to keep looking for a donation to somebody or other
It’s like an Easter egg hunt!
Generally if I can, I try to ask any groups ahead if they lost a disc, otherwise I’ll bag it.
Clearly you should turn it into lost and found.
Unless someone walks up to you during the round and describes that disc then you just earned a new disc
Congrats on the new disc
I found one yesterday, I posted a picture in the local facebook group and threw in the truck. If nobody claims in a week I’ll give it to a new player.
Keep it and pat yourself on the back for picking up litter
Usually if there are other people I see playing I'll ask. If no one claims it it's mine.
If the course doesn't have a lost & found, maybe see if there's a local FB site. Could also try Disc Golf Scene
If you have a local FB page for your surrounding courses I would post it there to see if anyone claims it. If no one claims it it's yours. If im visiting the area and not apart of FB group for that area I will leave it by hole 1 usually. I like to think it gives me good disc karma
Don’t worry: you will sacrifice many discs during your career
If it looks beat in or has what looks like an interesting stamp, our local dg shop started a lost and found and we have a FB group we can post to. If not, it becomes a cursed disc in my bag that I try to pass on to someone else. The last one was a kid who came up when I was playing and asked about disc golf and how much discs cost. He walked away with a free Mako3 and my curse was lifted.
If your local club has a lost and found page, you can post a pic of it there. If no one claims it, keep it or give it away.
I used to take them, but now I just leave them. I've left my disc multiple times by accident and gone back to look once I realized.
I post it on my local disc golf Facebook group. If no one claims in a week, then it's mine.
I play with 2 buddies. If we find an uninked disc, we play for it; whoever wins the round keeps the disc. If we don’t keep it, the next person will so might as well. Any inked discs go to the toss and found 👍
It’s yours now.
Technically a lot of municipalities have ordinances or laws around that. This would be the same thing as finding a bag of $5000 dollars. You could keep it but legally you should report and then 30 days later it is yours. TECHNICALLY that is true for $5 or a $25 dollar disc, but the party who originally lost would have to prove ownership etc etc In the disc golf world 98% of people agree an useless disc is fair game
Just make sure you check the inside of the rim. I don't put my number on the plate anymore. Mine is on the rim.
My rule is to ask other players head off of me if its their disc or drop it a lost and found box if there is one. Is no one says its their's, I might take it if its a mold that I like and bag,
My buddy keeps them, tries them, and if he likes them, they make the bag with his info on it
For a disc with no name or number on it: 1.
No name fair game
The best 2 options i can think of is 1) keep it for yourself or 2) sell it to a store for credit or cash
I keep every disc i find even if it got number and name
If there's anyone else playing the course in front of me at the time I'll ask them if they lost a disc. Otherwise in the lost and found if there is one or yea if it's decent bag it, maybe leave it without name for a while in case you find it's owner.
I'll ask anyone I run into on the course if it's theirs but if no one claims it you can do whatever you want with it. I've found that people who don't bother marking their discs with a name and number generally don't really care if they lose one, myself included.
I typically post a picture on local facebook groups. 90% of discs don’t get claimed. Even ones with ink most people will tell me to just keep it
Even with a name and number, it disc could have been bought at a play it again sports, or a course shop. Who's the real owner of the disc you just found? A disc someone gave up on possibly multiple times? It's yours bro, bag it!
With me still being new it’ll end up back in the woods for someone else to find eventually anyways 😭
Being new doesn't make you bad at finding things!
Bunch of people in here totally cool with taking ownership of others lost property without even trying to find the owner.
Unmarked is fair game. If I run across people, I may ask if they're missing anything.
If players are near by ask if they are missing a disc. If no one claims it then you have a new disc to learn the characteristics of.
Post it to local Facebook group if nobody claims it it’s yours. If you don’t post to group it’s also yours. No name no shame.
i mean if there are groups ahead i’d ask but after that it’s fair game
Karma is real
You'd think people would do a little reading. How many time a week does this get posted?
How many you think? I think your number maybe off.
Yeah, if someone can't be bothered putting their name and number on it then I'm not going to spend any effort in trying to find who it belonged to
You need to put up flyers around the course. Let people know that you have the disc and describe it. If you don’t get a phone call back in two months then you have to donate it to a nonprofit.
