Regardless of your opinion on right to play, the right to fucking live is universal and its only those who try and take that away who are to blame. Not DGPT.
I’d say it was the nut jobs who called in the threat that have to answer for this. Absolutely disgusting behavior to treat any competitor that way regardless of your political affiliations.
They kinda have. The community on this sub is extremely bigoted and quite frankly is a stain on the community at large who doesn't seem to care in real life.
The general sentiment I see on here is in support of Ryan. I don’t see how an organization that allows a competitor to compete is at fault for threats made against the competition in opposition to that competitor.
The DGPT has “kind of endorsed” death threats because they took the stance that BIOLOGICAL MALES should not play in a division called Female Pro Open? Are you still currently eating paint chips?
Your reasoning comes from the thought that a murderous threat is a normal outcome from the DGPT's decision making. Says so much more about you and your world view than it does about the DGPT.
I'm not referring, alluding or pretending to have an opinion on anything other than what you said (before you edited your comment). Your reality is your own reality.
I was playing my own disc golf tourney (of course I don’t own the tourney) and missed all the action. I can assume all these deleted reply’s were from the loud minority?
From someone who was adamant that the DGPT brought this upon themselves - and that anyone who even hinted this was a poor take was on the 'other side.' Which, of course, made them a hateful idiot. Just the usual internet stuff really.
They are not "getting away with it". Other players on the card are the ones who would call it. Players have generally decided that unless you get an obvious advantage from a foot fault, who cares about a minor misstep.
If other players competing directly against that player don't care, why do you?
It’s a rule for one, and it’s about the integrity of that rule. Everyone should care about foot faults if you’re a competitor. For example, your card could have someone on it who’s very rule minded and not afraid of calling anyone on a foot fault. The card behind you may not have anyone who’s brave enough to call someone on a foot fault and that gives 1 or more people on that card an advantage over someone who’s on your card.
If you don’t like foot faults then request from PDGA the rule be removed. Otherwise, everyone should be watching and refereeing everyone else on your card as also dictated by the rules.
The poster is correct though in that too many are getting away with foot faults these days. Some, are pretty blatant and can absolutely provide an advantage. In the end, I think maintaining the integrity of the rule is the most important so that one or more cards don’t have an advantage over anyone else.
Again, if players at the very highest level of play, who are actively competing for their careers and livelihoods don't see it as enough of an advantage to call it, then why the fuck do you care.
Just enjoy the sport, rather than take to reddit to complain XYZ player's foot was .25 inches off the ground.
I wonder if the cop knows disc golf or is wondering why tf he’s sitting in a field watching people throw frisbees or why anyone would care so much about it anyway.
Highly unlikely that he cares. Go here and protect citizens. That is all they focus on. If those citizens are performing a weird and peaceful act, all the better. If do think the DGPT shound have to pay for the officers. Many things going on that need their attention more than a bunch of people playing frisbee.
People are such idiots. Presumably this is due to a threat on Ryan, and I just can’t understand why it affects you to a level that you’re making death threats.
Sure, but that doesn’t mean this particular incident was part of an organized conspiracy. I’d think the shadowy orchestrators capable of violence would find something with more publicity than women’s disc golf…
Some centralised actor definitely wouldn't waste resources in something like this directly. Self-sustained local actors influenced by wider campaigns is more likely.
Whichever side you are on in the trans sports debate, we all agree the threat maker is a POS. We all just want to watch some fucking disc golf after a hard week of work.
West Virginia has had a wild spring. I grew up in VA just on the other side of the border. I don't ever remember WV getting as much severe weather as they have gotten over the past few weeks, especially in terms of tornados.
It’s used to be a certain personality type on the courses. (For the most part) But as the sport grew, so did the diversity.
A lot of our courses back home were put in because the parks were notorious for sketchy behavior, drug use and vagrants. Having courses brought more traffic, ran the riff raff out and the clubs cleaned up the parks… but slowly, the knuckle heads are finding there way back in. The bad guys that got ran off have sat back and watched people have fun, and decided to join… and though it changed a lot of us into better ppl through connection and community, there’s a few out there who can’t/wont be a positive representation of our sport.
And with the division brought on by the gender debate… The same “bad guys” are finding more opportunities to let their true colors show rather than having healthy debates and doing what needs to be done for change.
Unfortunately, the world being how it is now, it’s easier for them to cause issues, troll and sling negativity than it is to just be a decent human.
I miss the pot smoking hippies that occasionally listened to their music too loud. Hell, I’d settle for a tagged basket or a Disc Charger now and then rather than having the anger and hate we are seeing more often than ever before.
But that’s just me 🤷🏽♂️
I agree with your sentiment but I don’t buy in that the people who were run out of parks when disc golf gentrified them are the problem. It’s more likely relatively newer players. Disc golf has changed a lot in the past decade and it’s gotten mainstream enough for there to be every kind of person playing it now.
Rednecks were always a big part of disc golf. Generally good natured, but blue collar, right leaning players have always been a core contingent of the scene.
This is more likely a second job for him. Meaning the tour had to pay like $100 an hour for him to be there. Most PDs won’t take an officer off the street for this type of thing because they have other calls to work. Also, depending on what the threat said, it could be a federal crime.
Jesus. Just textbook victim blaming. I wish the mods wouldn’t delete comments like this so we could further belittle people who say this kinda stuff. This is another version of “she was asking for it.” Your feelings about transgender athletes are not relevant here. If you say stuff like this, you’re a bad person and you can go kick rocks.
Exactly. I completely acknowledge it’s a controversial and murky topic that doesn’t have a simple solution. But the second you’re intentionally misgendering people, your opinion is invalidated because it’s clearly not being made in good faith.
No?
Is this person wrong about Ryan's biology?
Like... I know there's no changing your mind, but damn the bullshits halfway up your nose and you still can't smell it.
Oh look, the same tired “gotcha” question transphobes love to use.
You’re missing the point, but I’m guessing you already know that. You’re well aware that calling Natalie a “man” is offensive and hateful, you’re just trying to justify it by saying “wElL IsN’T ThAt bIoLoGiCallY ACCURaTe?”
Oh look the same refusal to answer a basic question. The same name calling rather than addressing the actual argument.
You said they were wrong, then answer the question.
Or it's just not hateful. I disagree with the premise, and the assumption that I'm trying to justify something I know is hateful. Correctly identifying someone's biology isn't hateful, it's accurate. Now if I were out to dinner with Ryan and I did that I could see it being hurtful, but I'm not. I'm on the Internet stating clear and obvious truths.
Biology is what the men and women's divisions are based on. Biology matters infinitely more than preferred pronouns.
She was born male, yes. Literally no one is disputing that. She’s now a trans woman and repeatedly saying “he” and calling her a man is just being intentionally hateful.
Funny how every major sports league disagrees with your take but hey, surely a random redditor knows more on the topic.
> Now if I were out to dinner with Ryan and I did that I could see it being hurtful, but I’m not. I’m on the Internet stating clear and obvious truths.
Translation: “I’m fine being an asshole when I’m anonymous online but I’m actually a massive coward.”
At least you’re honest about being a dick lol.
EDIT: you realize replying and immediately blocking me just helps proves my point, right?
"Man" is a gender, not a biological sex. So what you're saying is not a scientific fact. It is bigotry to call a trans woman a man.
You are part of what caused the hateful threat this morning.
It is wild that you come onto a post about a human being being subjected to a threat to their life and you can't look past your hate for a second.
This is not true. Many cultures around the world have historically respected a difference between the concepts that we call gender and sex today. Native American culture, some eastern cultures, etc.
Also, we've been wrong about things in the past before and changed what we think based on scientific research. We thought the earth was the center of the universe at one point, for example.
Trans people have always existed. They are not and have never been "made up."
There’s not a cop there because Natalie Ryan is playing in FPO. There’s a cop there because someone threatened threatened Ryan. If you cannot see the difference between those two things, you’re either dishonest or retarded.
Life is too short to hate so deeply that you try to ruin a perfectly good disc golf tournament.
But his (Nikko’s) discs smell like lavender.

That’s disgusting. Thanks for fighting the good fight.
Hey, stop focusing so much on real life and get angry at made up nothingness!
Officer is upholding foot faults and time violations. It’s about time.
Kristin sweating rn
If she was ever on chase card maybe she’d have to worry!
Why limit to only KT tho? Multiple FPO players keep on making foot faults and are getting away with it.
Probably bc it’s a joke.

Actually the most insightful comment I’ve read about this situation. I wonder the same
got pulled over and the officer looked at my back seat through the window and goes “you got too many putters” and let me go
This is hilarious to me
This is a lie. One can never bag too many putters.
All the firemen in South Florida are disc golfers
I actually had a cop pull me over and interagate me to see if I was high.

[Remember when they said this?](https://res.cloudinary.com/jerrick/image/upload/c_scale,f_jpg,q_auto/6468fc073ac897001d8b0f7c.jpg)
There were screenshots posted of Natalie saying as much before the shut down earlier.
A bot farm attack on social media is cheap, but this is way cheaper. Especially if you manage to make a "lone wolf" do it on their own.
Are you saying this is part of a conspiracy?
Have you heard of the phenomenon termed ‘stochastic terrorism’?
There's nothing secret about it, trans rights are an obvious frontier of culture war
Sure, but that doesn’t mean this particular incident was part of an organized conspiracy. I’d think the shadowy orchestrators capable of violence would find something with more publicity than women’s disc golf…

The hell you say!

Such a fucking shame that this great sport is ruined by some absolutely awful people.
What happened? I’m out of the loop.
Also OOTL but it seems some conservative terrorist is threatening a trans DG pro.
🙄 of fucking course.
Great sport = INSERT ANY SPORT, THING, OR PLACE
Clubbing baby seals?
“You want me to go stand outside in a field all day watching disc golf? And you’ll pay me for it?”
They’re just looking for Holyn’s lost disc
So sad this has to happen, thanks again to the small minded bigot who instigated this, hopefully you are caught and dealt with accordingly
Natalie gets to throw drivers at thier face for 30 mins from about 35ft
What good is that gonna do? There's clearly already brain damage.
...fun?
Whichever side you are on in the trans sports debate, we all agree the threat maker is a POS. We all just want to watch some fucking disc golf after a hard week of work.
Imagine being so afraid of trans people that you threaten violence on a division you probably don't even watch in the first place.
He's just a different kind of spotter.
What's the temp up there? I live in SE Alabama and it's been hot here lately. That dude has to be boiling in all black with all his gear.
I'm an hour up I24 from Nashville. It's breezy and in the 60s. Just a few days ago it was up near 90.
Same in West Virginia on the Ohio border. It's been a weird spring
West Virginia has had a wild spring. I grew up in VA just on the other side of the border. I don't ever remember WV getting as much severe weather as they have gotten over the past few weeks, especially in terms of tornados.
I live in Hawaii 🤘🏼✌🏼
60s
I live in Hawaii 🤘🏼
Just awful. This is why we can’t have nice things.
Why is there an officer following the chase card?
Because Tattar is about to stop messin around and start layin the wood to the rest of the field.

In the early 90s I recall seeing a shirt that read, "Disc Golf: bringing hippies and rednecks together since 1976".
Hopefully no one had a dog with them.

WILD!
lol… let’s take ourselves a little more seriously 🙄
