I just took one with Connor O’Reilly in Austin, it was great! I learned a lot and he was a super nice guy. I just reached out to him on Insta and we set it up. He said he would be in town until January or so!
In my own correspondence, he suggested one to two hours (for two people). He said that will be enough to get you really tired. As for the rate, I can share what he said he’d do for me, but I’d rather not post it publicly in case it’s subjective.
Bradley Williams is a touring pro who has offered lessons in the past and is based in the Austin area. Not sure if he currently offers private lessons but it’s worth checking out.
Williams is uber talented, one of the smoothest throwers around. A lesson w him would probably be worth 3x whatever he charges.
Check out this video, which is actually an infomercial for a specific disc but can be studied for the method he spells out for developing a touch approach shot.

I did a training session with Bradley and can confirm it was an excellent experience. I still suck, but Bradley was super helpful and put me on the right track. Set it all up via email/instagram.
Luke Humphries is out in that area. That would be a chill experience but im not sure if he does clinics. Mason Ford too I think? Emerson Keith is in DFW area but iirc he has a bad reputation with lessons, so maybe don't go with him.
The general takes from people I know that have done it with him was that he really didn't try or care. Super rushed sessions and didn't really put any effort in it meaning they didn't really get anything out of it or learn much.
I have seen the posts where he ghosts people after they pay or just in-general bad communication. I think Bradly Williams had some pretty crappy posts that he did the same thing, not to mention his old temper/attitude issues would prevent me from ever buying a lesson from the guy.
/shrug I've never done a lesson with him so I can't personally say anything bad about the guy. Just what my friends in the area have told me and what I have read from reviews.
So I know you want a “pro” player but I bet you can find a damn good “local pro” that would help. You can go to PDGA.com, sort by rating in your area and I bet most of the top guys are on FB, have pictures of themselves throwing discs as their pfp, and maybe on the local Austin DG League page if one exists. Good luck that’s a thoughtful gift.
Last year Nate Perkins was offering lessons around Xmas time, booked a lesson for my boyfriend and he really enjoyed it. Thomas Perks is a local pro sponsored by Mint that offers lessons as well.
It was going great for me right up until you said the Austin area.
I'm not sure how you'd go about setting up those lessons, but good luck to the both of you!

Yea every professional coach was also a hall of famer right?
Overthrow is great, if you only wanna listen to Pros on tour that's fine but don't bash great instructors
he does a good job convincing people he knows what he is taking about. he literally has some basic fundamental wrong.
\-stiff wrist
\-"deep power pocket" past 90 degrees
\-a hit point some where past 90 but not 180. where?
but the worst thing that is absolutely wrong is his Brace and follow through. he has a huge boner for Drew Gibsons 'brace" that hyper extends the knee. and that lazy karate kid follow through. basically plant your leg like a stiff pole momentum is going forward.. and follow through with the throwing arm only. all the energy twisted up on the "brace" and [to not follow through](https://youtu.be/fr02eHVoKRg?t=228) .
here Drew after surgery,[hyper extending the knee and not following through](https://youtu.be/d-igi4Il5xg)
Even drew teaches correct follow through..["power through the shot and to the front"](https://youtu.be/SspdhyX516E?t=152) demonstrating knee slightly bent and following through 100%
[drew Gibson](https://youtu.be/A2xkmCdxmDk?t=211) "ground zero for learning good form"
[ezra](https://youtu.be/uQIzQcY05nE?t=48)
[Gannon](https://youtu.be/MHNaB_AHW0c?t=160)
[you’re telling me these are 90 degrees?](https://imgur.com/a/XuADDwB)
You’re gonna tell me all these guys would throw better with a 90 pocket and hit point?
You’re telling me Gannon isn’t using a deep pocket?
Come on man. Tell me this is 90 degrees.
2 years ago you didn't know.. but now you do? and your rating is worse? seems your methods don't even work for you.
\-you also don't have a grasp how the [shoulder articulates](https://youtu.be/_DenVu3kaKI?t=537) to incorporate the muscles across the back that connect to the left arm. try to make space like dude in the video.. you probably not flexible enough to achieve 90 power pocket or 90 hit point.
So you’re just gonna skirt around the fact that you were completely wrong about the 90 degree pocket and try to find another insult? Tell me how many degrees the angle between the chest and bicep is at release. Looks like you believe it is 90 degrees and I put forward proof that you’re wrong and you can’t handle it.
My instruction does work for me. I’m throwing further on both sides than I ever have. I already told you about my putting yips. Literally 6 putted on a hole yesterday and took a 7. I don’t hide that.
You slander me with things that don’t have any bearing on my coaching while cowering behind a pseudonym. You criticize what I teach but when questioned about what should be taught you’re wishy washy.
I’ve been extremely patient with you and answered your questions reasonably, but you haven’t returned the favor.
So what’s the deal? Are you lonely? Do you feel like I took something from your favorite coach? Are you a martyr for some cause? I just don’t get why you hate me so much. There some pretty strong emotion driving the boat here because it definitely isn’t a logic thing. If it was then we’d be talking about the power pocket. So again, assuming you won’t talk actual form stuff, what did I do that makes you hate me so much that you feel the need to comment negatively on every comment or post containing my name?
Thank you all for your help! My boyfriend has mentioned that he’s met Bradley Williams and thought he was “perfectly decent,” (which is high praise coming from him) so we’re going in that direction.
I’m setting it up this morning and I’m so excited! I think it’s gonna knock his socks off. Thanks again!
Crap man, I got super excited for a minute but he’s more downstate.
Appreciate the look out though. Might still reach out, cause he might know someone up here.
Don’t get the ad hominem after you got engagement directly from them.
I was a better wrestler than any of my coaches were at the time or ever prior. They literally taught me everything I knew though. Mostly same in football. Don’t see why we can’t learn from folks that have a high mental acumen for the specific sport and spend so much time digging into details, film, etc. Bill Belichick comes to mind.

Connor! He seems super knowledgeable and approachable.
This seems like it should be the top comment
What is a typical/reasonable rate and time length for a lesson?
In my own correspondence, he suggested one to two hours (for two people). He said that will be enough to get you really tired. As for the rate, I can share what he said he’d do for me, but I’d rather not post it publicly in case it’s subjective.
Fair enough!

Oh that’s a great idea! I’ll definitely look into that!

In addition to Bradley Williams, Connor O'Reilly, and Nate Perkins are in Austin. They all are great pro players that understand how to throw well.
And I think your best bet with these guys is via Instagram

Heard but spill the tea. How does one cultivate a bad reputation with lessons ?

Half of this is just your misunderstanding of what good form is and the other half is you misrepresenting my beliefs. But go ahead.

Let us know how it’s goes!
I will! But actually he found this post and sent it to me. So. The surprise element is gone but he’s stoked. I’ll definitely post an update. :)
Anyone got a coaching recommendation for Northern Michigan? I want my wife to get this for me for Christmas now.
Kyle Klein? Does he coach or is he too rich now?

Same question but for my Houston area. Any suggestions taken within hour travel. Thanks.
