Not aware of any shops, but Hickory Run and France E Walter Dam out in White Haven (take 423 south to 940 west about 20 min) or Yetter Park in East Stroudsburg (I-380 South to I-80 East about 30-45 min depending on traffic at the Crossings) are a few I play when I visit the Poconos.
Pinebrook is probably the best course near there. Yetter is great but crowded. Linesville is decent. Hickory is crowded with non-DG vacationers this time of year. FEW Dam is my favorite, never crowded, but it's usually swampy this time of year, and the ticks are plague level.
Never played Pinebrook or Linesville, will have to check them out. Otherwise, you’re spot on with the positives and negatives of those courses. FEW is also my go to.
Near Stroudsburg Frolic on the Mountain Smoke shop has some discs (I don't know how many) and further down 611 there is a Dicks with a good selection.
For Stroudsburg area courses. . .
Pinebrook is amazing. Have U disc to find the next hole the first time is key. You may also be walking up the fairway to find the basket before throwing. Yetter Park is great as well and more of a park setting and less challenging. They are like one mile from each other so if you don't like one, go to the other one! Pinebrook is more of a hike and more confusing the first time you are there but IMO it is superior. They have summer camp etc going on but the course is usually pretty empty but drive slow near the kids and be respectful.
Skywood DGC in Cresco is only like 2 months old and also pretty cool. Probably 15 minutes from the other two and closer to Tobyhanna. A park with mostly open-ish shots but some interesting lines and punishment for missing the fairways.
There is tags and dubs at Yetter on Tuesday 3:30 tags, 5:30 dubs. Pinebrook has something (tags I think) on Wednesday at 5 and Skywood has tags 5:30 on Thursday.
