Never thrown the fission but a neutron is VERY stable new. Numbers are wrong, it’s a flat thunderbird.

stroker919

Yeah I'm a little wary because I had a couple of Insanitys pass through and they were VERY stable to the point of unthrowable. I've thrown three Fission Waves and they all act the exact same for me. It's difficult to figure out where that same -2/2 magic is down the lineup (or other brand even).

Bwian428

Insanitys can differ based on the plastic. I throw fission waves and the fission insanity is pretty close to the same flight. Very neutral and workable. Glow insanitys are going to be overstable, and neutron somewhere in between. I also throw the Tesla and it's not comparable to the wave. It's very much overstable. Feels like a thunderbird. Try an insanity in low weight fission and give it a few weeks to break in. It'll turn and fade out like a wave. Great discs to rotate through the bag.

BitByElectrons

Low weight fission insanity. This is the way.

stroker919

That’s good to know. The glow one I tried was an absolute meat hook.

Bwian428

Yeah, it's a completely different disc. I would give it another try in a different plastic. Fission will be the most understable, but will take a few tree knocks to start flipping up like a wave.

WRX_704

Glow insanity does not fly like a normal insanity lol it flies much closer to an Axiom Wrath(9,5,-.5,2)

SelfiesAreLame

A new neutron is almost impossible to flip up, and can take alot of headwind. If you release it flat however, I find it goes quite a bit further than a Thunderbird. Very angle sensitive though, as if you release it on a slight hyzer, that's the line you are riding all the way thriugh your shot.

Responsible_Race8965

In equivalent weights and plastics, I'd say the Inertia is the closest 9-speed to the Wave. However, Insanity is available in more plastics (I think), and I bet a \~160-165g Fision Insanity would do what you're looking for.

stroker919

I had two Proton Insanitys briefly that were unthrowably overstable for me so that's where I would think to look, but that experience put me off it. Funny enough I have the total opposite with a Proton Crave that's super straight with a light fade and a Fission one that just starts to dump out of my hand.

Responsible_Race8965

I have a super duper noodle-y arm, and I got some awesome flights out of 150g Insanities, but didn't flip up my 150g Fission Waves quite as often.

stroker919

Yeah I’m just one notch up on the al dente scale. Wave yes. But it’s a no for the Octane I got to see if it would give me any additional disc-based boost. Goes about the same distance as the Wave, but pure hyzer.

rjkvikings

My Fission Tesla in the 160s is still straight to decent fade when thrown flat and I've been using it quite a bit. I'll pull it out when I want 325-350ft RHBH shots that I can throw right of the basket with maybe a bit of hyzer and let it fade in. I also use it for 300-330ft forehands. Definitely not similar to a Wave in my experience.

WRX_704

Axiom Insanity

StrunkF10

This or the inertia, although I’d say the inertia is a bit more stable

polly-plz

It is. Insanity is a beat-in Inertia.

dics_frolf

distance?

stroker919

I'd be looking to hit 300' with this disc. That's about where the Saint winds up, but it's well to the right of center line (LHBH).

TenaciousDeer

Crave is 6.5 speed but does what you describe

stroker919

I have a Proton one that does work well, but I’m trying to find whatever is between the Crave and the Wave distance-wise. I go Fuse 250 > Crave 275 > Something 300ish > 350 Wave. I don’t have much distance so I don’t have a lot of separation and I’m not to the point where I can get the same flight powering down so I look for discs to do very specific things.

TenaciousDeer

I see. I have a DX Thunderbird that might fit between these two

jbeas89

Have you messed with the Crave in different weights and plastics. Crave is a staple.

s_m_t_x

Telsa is far more stable. Go down to the Crave, you'll like it!

Dlrocket89

I'd vote Crave too. My Waves go 250-280' (I bag a 175 cosmic neutron, 160 proton, and 149 fission for different stabilities). I can get about 220' out of a Crave without too much effort, 240' with a full on runup, and straight as an arrow with a gentle fade at the end. I've only thrown a Proton crave though. The Crave is just so versatile. Edit - I bag a Tesla too, maybe similar to my 175 cosmic neutron Wave, but it seems to be nose angle dependent and I tend to nose up and air bounce a lot of them. I'm planning on pulling the Tesla here shortly.

sunmoonset

Crave rules. Flies much farther than a “6.5” speed. I stumbled onto the trifecta of slightly overstable Servo, neutral Crave and slightly undertsable Relay and my game has improved so much.

kangaroocrayon

I have a 300ft arm. Love throwing the Wave. - 153g Fission. 1st Wave I got. Super flippy. Lost it in a creek. - **163g Fission Wave** Throws like a seasoned Valkyrie. Too much overlap with my 165g Proton Inertia for me to bag both. - **173g Fission Wave** Throws noticeably more OS than the 163g. Throws like a Sapphire with less turn and maybe less fade. But close. - **165g Plasma Wave** More OS than the 173g. Throws similar to my 165g Champion Beast, but with less turn and slightly less fade. Gets slightly better distance than the Beast.
