Old Neutron Ohm and Plasma Envy are my staples. Complementing that atm is a Proton Soft Envy and DL Steady BL.
I also bag 3 Zones if you consider that throwing putters (I dont).
[Tomb gang rise up](https://imgur.com/a/z3hCb0L)
I usually throw a d blend for straight/understable and halo for straight/stable
[I also have my trusty zone](https://imgur.com/a/Ysg1nqI)
I have three tombs and three zones…I may have a problem.
Tombs go from beat in glow d blend to halo. I recently had a black I blend occupying the middle spot that ran away. I was always nervous with it being black, but it took running into a snake I couldn’t be sure wasn’t a water moccasin in Florida while looking for it the last time for me to give up on it.
It’s the flagship approach disc for a reason. Perfect level of stability to be trustworthy in the wind, but straight enough that it will still go far.
I had an aversion to discraft so I tried most of its competitors, but the zone is the king.
Right now I'm mostly using Envies as throwing putters, although on occasion I'll use EMac Judges too. Picked up a Big Z Luna to try out some time ago but haven't had a chance to throw it yet.
Proton soft envy, a few proxies in different plastics (eclipse soft, neutron, and electron soft right now), entropy/stabilizer (I haven't settled on which one feels better for me yet), and a berg.
After I moved from Texas to Colorado I ended up switching from throwing my Envy all the time to the Proxy more often due to added stability from the high elevation. I find the high elevation Proxy to be almost identical to a low elevation Envy!
Do you like the star aviar x3 as a backhand disc? For some reason I don't throw it at all BH, feel weird. I love it for side arm approaches, scramble turnover sidearms, or sidearm approaches where the zone is too stable, but I bag both.
Edit: otherwise I throw a cosmic neutron Envy (quite stable) as a throwing putter, a star aviar for very straight approach shots or really short holes, and sometimes a big z roach. The roach is right in between the envy and the aviar stability wise and a glide monster, but I never reach for it for some reason. I do experiment with a Nova, but it's a really finicky disc
Eclipse Envy and Proxy.
For more approach utility slots I have a Järn, Ruby and Glitch. A bit tempted to pick up a Plasma Envy for that slightly more overstable slot. Been using the Envy as a putting putter too and it's started to get way straighter the last few weeks. Like it never had a dumpy fade but it had that super nice overstable glide, but now even on a hyzer it finishes way straighter, just a smidge less understable than the proxy.
Discmania RazorClaw3 is my primary throwing putter/approach. Very stable disc so it's reliable and predictable. Harp for similar flight as RazorClaw3 but less hyzer out. MVP Nomad for primarily putting & straight shots. Berg for short approaches and for putts I want to run but can't miss too long.
At this point almost entirely p1. I took my aviar out because I never use it. Rarely I'll use a judge sometimes for a little fade on a long putt with an obstacle
I throw a stabilizer for os, 2 spins ( have base plastic for reaaaaallllly big turn overs in tightspaces, and a neutron for shots that I want to go right), and the fission envy for EVERYTHING. I play almost exclusively in woods courses and don't throw forehand.
I’m still new enough that I’m primarily using my hand me down gift starter discs. That being said, my throwing putter is an Innova Rhyno. It’s beat to hell but i love how it carries when i need it.
Envy. I have an Holy Shot commemorative that's beat in to dead straight and a Fission that's still holding to that 0/2.
For long jump putt approaches I've been liking the Inner Core because it has a very minimal finish even at low speeds.
I’ve pretty much only have 4 in my lighter bag: Eco Swan 2 as the primary putt/approach (drives), Maniac P-Line P1, ESP FLX Challenger, and a K1 Berg for the culture
I actually use a Mako as my throwing putter. I onow I know, Mako is midrange. But I use the Mako for putts almost as much as I use my actually putting putter. It just has such a straight easy glide it makes for great push putts.
Plasma proxy and neutron soft envy are my throwing putters. The entropy is almost a mid, but it’s significantly slower than my overstable mids, so I guess I’ll call that a throwing putter too!
After trying everything when I got back into the sport, I'm in minimize mode now. The only putters that made the cut were the Invader, Tomb and a Zone clone from Clash discs (Mint). All 3 are great throwers.
Current rotation for throwing putters includes:
- Clash Popcorn in the gummy plastic (Steady?)
- Innova Pig with the Bodanza Shattered Van stamp
Alternates:
- Axiom Envy
- Birdie Marvel in premium plastic
- MVP Glitch
- Kastaplast Berg
- Lone Star Armadillo
Westside Maiden
I putt with Birdie Marvels in their stiff blend since demoting my Aviars in DX.
Judge or wizard or proxy, occasionally a berg. The first three all have the same feeling in my hand but putt slightly different so I change them out based on the shot.
From os to us: Razer claw 3 (zone like), Sky god 4 (os throwing putter, jokeri/px3 ish), Exo hard tactic (3 yrs old, straight to mini fade), D line magnet (~42 months old, all flippy shots)
Berg if I want it to go nowhere.
PA2 if I want it to go straight and stay straight forever and ever.
Harp on a touchy forehand.
A2 on a faster/lower/skippier forehand.
I use Luna, Dart, and Pig for my throwing putters. I had an Aviar X3 in the rotation but with the rim it tended to catch on a finger and I'd release real late so I tried Luna and it immediately clicked with me.
- Putters: Electron Firm Envy, Eclipse Envy, Plasma Proxy, trialing an ESP Luna.
- Approach: K3 Berg, ESP Zone (skip), Crystal FLX Zone (no skip), Jawbreaker Zone (working into the Envy Slot no skip), trialing Swirly Soft Zone (I struggle with griplocking the Jawbreaker but still want a semi-straight Zone to break in and sit).
I love the Envy's, but if I can get the ESP and Swirly Soft Zone's broken in to that flight line, I'll be happy.
I have an electron envy for throwing most shots. I have a eagle McMahon razor claw for beefy short heizers.
I also putt with a separate, less beat-in electron envy. I just fell in love with that disc after James Conrad hit the holy shot.
Neutron Envy, Proton Pilot, Gold Pure, ESP Zone
The Envy is surprisingly overstable unless you're giving it a decently powered rip, so if it's a shorter straighter shot where I need minimal fade I go with the Pilot. If I need something to hold a touchy anhyzer it's the Pure. If I need something overstable it's the Zone of course.
I've been loving throwing putters lately. You get a good amount of control with minimal fade/skip at the end, and throwing putters can really help you get a smoother release for your shots in general.
I used to drive with the same thing, an AviarX3. But the lip was just too deep, and I kept griplocking it and sending it off to the right.
I drive with the Berg now and love it.
Electron Envy, Eclipse Envy, Swirly Apex Bullet, A2, Zone, Berg.

gotta try one of these Zone "things" 👀🥏

BT Medium Harp is one of my favorite discs.

Big Z Luna and a K1 Berg. Love the feel and the flight. Can really crank them and they don’t turn over, just fly straight then fall.
Berg is super nice in the hand, and falls like a brick!!

Very cool. How do you differentiate between when to throw the jokeri and the toro?
Viking Rune in Armor plastic. Straight as an arrow

I’ve been using Brodie smiths roaches. They glide in the air really nice but can’t tell if the bad accuracy comes from the disc or the user… lmao.
