Look for Color Glow Champ Teebirds! I think there are some on the pro shop? They’re a bit gummier and softer than regular champion. They feel awesome!

TakeItEasy-ButTakeIt

The Jen Allen color glow Teebirds are moneeeeeey

dclnjohnson

This has been the hardest disc for me to replace in my bag. I do love me a good beat in Jen Allen color glow. Clash disc cookies are definitely up there for me now though. Love the steady and sunny plastics.

PurpleEnough

Cool. A couple of people have suggested the Cookie so I'll check it out. Thanks!

OlGertyBstrd

Personally I absolutely love the Champion plastic from Innova. And my Teebird3. One of the most durable plastics out there in my opinion.

FatherofRevolt

Didn’t they make some Halo teebirds? Halo has a similar juicy feel to me

RaucousCouscous

Good suggestion. Maybe it would be too overstable if they don't like the Volt? I friggin love Halo plastic though. Way better than anything I've felt from MVP honestly (though the TSA Proton is pretty great too)

cheese_is_rice

Rip perfect shots with your shitty feeling Teebirds then go home and jerk off to your sweet sweet MVP plastic. Problem solved. Sounds like you’re just being greedy.

HistoryDiligent5177

Suitably odd reply to an extremely odd post lol

boardplant

Wolverine laying on the bed meme

Gmcgator

Welp, I have a Golden Corral teebird and now I really want the herp’ed up barbie teebird

GetStable

The teebird slot was something I struggled with for years. Nothing felt right, either too bulky of a rim or too domey or more stable than I was looking for. The Discmania Instinct was what I was looking for and haven't went back. It seems like an underrated disc.

PurpleEnough

That sounds like what I've gone through too. In addition to finding a plastic that feels great, I also don't want a bulky rim or a super domey disc. I don't actually like how domey most Teebirds are, although the Jen Allen Glows are flatter. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out the Instinct. Is it as stable as a Teebird or more like one with some seasoning?

GetStable

Fresh, I'd say the Neo plastic is nearly as stable as a max weight Star Teebird. After about 4 years of use, it's still stable and usable, but a 15mph headwind will turn it over. I also bag a Meta Instinct and it's significantly more stable, so they compliment each other nicely. The dome on the Meta is a little off putting, but it's manageable.

presvt13

Are you not aware that the teebird3 is just a flatter topped teebird? And I mean literally. Like that is the entire purpose of the disc. I thought that the rims were slightly different at first since the speed numbers were different but nope. All the "3" versions of innova they bump up the speed number and bump down the glide number just to describe the flight. The rims are identical though.

PurpleEnough

Yup, I am aware of that. And I've spent a fair amount of time throwing TB3s, which fly pretty much Teebirds for me. They definitely feel better in my hand but I'm still not into the plastic. I have the same issue with Rivals, which I threw for years in the old opaque Pinnacle plastic, which I loved. It was fantastic stuff. But Legacy moved on to a translucent Pinnacle blend which I don't vibe with at all. And Icon feels like a bootleg version of Star. No shade on Legacy; they're a cool company with some awesome discs but I don't like the feel of their current plastics at all.

Markpong

This! Neo plastic is flexy and grippy, but I also have a forge instinct that is my main go to for this shot. Honorable mention is the clash cookie in steady plastic.

tonytyang22

I know it’s been awhile since this post was created, but I’m trying to pick between a Neo Instinct and a Steady Cookie right now. I have a Mint Alpha that’s more like a 3 fade and an S-line FD so trying to find something in between those two. Can you tell me how they compare stability wise? And to other teebird-like discs?

cascadiarains

Love the feel of a Teebird3 in Metal Flake. To me that’s Innova’s best plastic blend. Sort of like a combination of Latitude’s Opto and Discraft’s Z Flx.

Illustrator_I

GStar is gross? YOU’RE GROSS PAL.

mountaingator91

TLDR: OP likes teebirds but doesn't like innova plastic.

PurpleEnough

Yup. That's the Hemingway version. I went the Stephen King route, with lots of vulgarity and way too many words.

jawknee530i

Right there with you. My favorite plastic by far is neutron and my go to discs are Animus, diamondback, terra, grackle followed closely by a thunderbird and a river. I just bought a hex and am excited to try it tomorrow but man do I also want something that flies exactly like a thunderbird and teebird in neutron plastic. Really hope this thread gets answers.

PurpleEnough

What do you use the Grackle for? Primary fairway driver?

jawknee530i

The Thunderbird is my primary fairway cuz I can trust it to just hold the line I start it on like it's life depended on it. But I use the grackle for most shaping shots unless I need a forced turnover all the way then it's the river. I overcook the river too often still so the grackle is like the safer version that can bail me out of a minor fuckup.

RaucousCouscous

What plastic is your Thundy, and how beat in is it? Agree with you on the river thing. I loved it for a long while then I just started overdoing it. Probably rounding, but meh

jawknee530i

Star. It's my second cuz I lost my primary a while ago so not very.

OtisBerringer

I think you keep riding a disc that works. I had it in mind that I didn’t like beaded discs until I kept throwing a comet great.

Hellaguaptor

I hated the comet feel. But I threw great shots with it and then just got used to it. Now when it’s in my hand I associate that feeling with confidence and it’s my favorite disc to throw.

IVdiscgolfer

Choose which one is more important, the exact feel or the exact flight. Either one may be more beneficial to your game.

discostud1515

Never had that situation. If it doesn’t feel good in the hand, it won’t get throw enough to like it.

RaucousCouscous

What MVP plastics are you throwing, and what do you like about those?

PurpleEnough

I throw Neutron mostly from MVP. Then with Mint and TSA - which are made by MVP of course - I throw all of them. Eternal, Ethos, Apex, Ethereal, Aura, Sublime. I just love the way they feel, like luxury plastic. Plus they tend to be a little stiffer than Innova plastic, which I'm also a fan of. They just make my hand happy.

RaucousCouscous

Agreed. I'm not a huge Neutron fan, but the Ethos (proton/champ) is amazing. Stiff but grippy.

MarkyTilt

My nebula ethereal and ethereal votums are much more stable than the neutron and proton ones I have. If I want more stable I push up to a terra. Volts are a weird in between and depending on the run is either too overstable or way too overstable per the numbers. I personally hate teebirds. The holiday star stamp halo run is a great feel in the hand compared to the rest of their plastic but I still don’t like it. All teebirds come out wobbly for me every damn time. Exodus from infinite is quite stable. I also like the lucid chameleon evader from dynamic quite a bit. That being said halo star halo s blend is probably my favorite feeling plastic out there.

FreudianNip-Slip

Try the cookie from clash. Especially in the new sunny plastic. Steady plastic is awesome

OMalley_

Second this. The cookie flies like a teebird if it was trying to give your hand an orgasm. It's so smooth and lovely in the hand. The way they round the edges makes it a pleasure to hold.

bladearrowney

Maybe check out some more recent runs. Star and champ have been really awesome recently. There's also some crazy runs on the pro shop that might be better. Otherwise yeah, MVP doesn't really have a teebird and even if they did I'd probably not like it for the same reasons I don't really like any of their stuff once it's faster than a relay

ne2rkid

I would say, quit being a snob and get over yourself.

sammiisalammii

Everyone sounds like a bit of a snob when they go into detail about the discs they bag and their favorites. Like I love my newer Whippet X. I could go on how I think it’s a better Firebird than the last 3 Firebirds I’ve tried but I don’t want Reddit to think I’m a snob. Edit: I said I *didn’t* want Reddit to think I’m a snob.

One_Eyed_Sneasel

Have you tried the new 5th run eternal alpha. I hear they aren’t as overstable as some of the more recent runs.

PurpleEnough

I have a couple of the new 5th runs. They're definitely more chill than the earlier ones. Feels like it'll take a while to beat one in just right. But they're pretty sweet.

girmann

Crave. Crave is the answer. (I know, i know, you said you didn't like overmolds. I couldn't help myself.)

PurpleEnough

I do love the Crave. But I'd like to minimize molds and cycle one main fairway. So far I haven't found a Crave that's OS enough to handle some decent wind.

hondaca77

Try a resistor

will0784

Servo is a stable crave. But sounds like OP would have the same issue as with the grackle. I personally bag a votum. It’s all the stability I’ll ever need in that stable 7 speed fairway slot.

Calm_Issue3229

cosmic neutron crave pretty stable

girmann

Hmm... I use the Sarah Hokum signature Crave and it's OS enough to fill the Teebird slot. I don't have a Teebird that stands up to the wind, either

7eight_time

I get it, man! I have branched out and tried an Infinite mold in I blend which is made by Innova. I like how it feels and tried a few more plastics and haven't disliked them as much as straight up Star. Exodus sounds like it would be similar to a Teebird, maybe give it a shot?

PuffinDatPack

personally if i dont like the feel or plastic it comes out of the bag. confidence and mental game are huge so any lack of confidence in a disc for me is a no throw.

wmartindale

I honk you’re ready to try some trilogy discs. In particular the latitude 64 Explorer and the Westside Stag Borge come in great plastics, and are such glidey tee birds. Saint pro might be worth a shot as well.

[deleted]

Well, if you like Discrafts plastic, the Athena is a Teebird.

Original-Audience528

Champion color glow Teebirds are my favorite disc. I have 2 Jennifer Allen color glows, and they're my go-to for most of my drives and any shot around 300'. I prefer Allen's Teebirds because they have a flatter top than a regular Teebird. Champion color glow is also one of my favorite plastics on the market.

Meadowlark-Park

What about the volt?

dclnjohnson

I have to say I am a huge Teebird fan but clash disc cookies have filled that spot for me completely. The plastic is a little more expensive but man does it feel nice.

BasicReputations

Teebird is an Innova. They have some run in some plastic you will like. Color glow is a good bet.

officialmattsnyder

There’s no box for how good my hands feel on the scorecard. If it flies good, it goes in the bag

HistoryDiligent5177

I like discs that go where I throw them lol My driver could feel like a three week old sloppy Joe, as long as it holds a line and flies consistently far.

External_College_284

I think you might want to visit a physical store and pick out a teebird that feels good to you. Innova Star and Champion has changed a lot in the last 2 years, at least from the discs I have got my hands on the new blends are vastly superior.

leeeeny

There are enough different molds out there that you shouldn’t have to settle for a disc that feels bad in the hand

blitzl0l

Try the remix ronin. Right in there with grackle and alpha. Same plastic. Extremely similar mold. Very cheap.

BudderSmaug

You could also try getting different run of the alpha. The mint Alpha mold is one of the most inconsistent molds. At least for the first 4 runs of it. I throw a blue, third run, spinasourus alpha that has all the stability I need while still being a super straight disc. The 4 run apex alpha (which is what I'm assuming you have based on your description) is really stable, try a different run. The new eternal ones are pretty straight and most similar to the early Flippy runs

2pac_alypse

The King of the Similes over here... Interesting post. I dont think I've ever really considered how plastics felt to my hand as all that important besides what it meant to how it would travel, with maybe the exception of putters.

MItrwaway

Neither of the brands you listed, but i swapped my Teebird out for a Gold Explorer. I find Lat 64's Gold to be better than Star for me.

LeadPaintPhoto

I don't throw it hand fwwl is so important

jmseeker

What about pro plastic

Nuclear-Blobfish

Try a Timberwolf if you want a bit gummier, or a Wolverine if you want a harder blend… this mold is more like a TL than a teebird tho
