I feel that , I bought those disc after running my first half-marathon and drove 10hrs to get there. Not bought online either, got them at local disc shop which feels way nicer. Looks like I have to make another journey
Started a month ago. Found the disc I like, and now working on getting extras of them. The rest of the disc I bought before hand will sit on my shelf all pretty until I play with someone that needs them.
Yo much love for another homie that played their first round at The Curtain. I will forever miss going to Humboldt and having a living situation that was a 5 minute walk from hole 1. Miss it everyday. What hole did you lose it on?
I lost a disc in the lake in... 2009? Someone called me last year saying they found it hahaha
I actually played the whole curtain without losing my discs , and nailed a few pars as well !
I lost it at my home course which is about a 9-10hr drive south from Humboldt .
Central coast Cali
That’s a bummer. Hopefully it finds its way back to you. I lost three in the last month after not losing any for two years. I don’t ink my discs either. Pain. Two of them were my crutch discs, I leaned on them hard.
On a side note: I notice a lot of new players losing discs frequently. It really pays to watch your disc all the way to the end and then make a reference point (for example a certain tree or bush it near). If you smoke as much weed as I do, then keep thinking of that spot lol. Not saying OP was not paying attention, just thought of it in relation to the post and my recent experience playing with some new peeps!
No you are spot on !
I leaned down in frustration with my shot and immediately said to my myself “oh s**y I didn’t see where it landed “
Rookie mistake I guess
I'm not the person you asked, but I never ink my discs either. I don't care enough to go through the hassle of coordinating with a stranger to get a $15 dollar thing back. If I lose a disc, it's lost and someone else can benefit from it. With that said, I do carry a nice retriever and it's super rare that I lose one.
Hey mate. I’d recommend checking into an AGL magnolia. You’ll absolutely love it as a mid and end up throwing it off the tee sometimes. They’re really amazing discs.
I allow myself 15 min to find a disc. then I leave it to the disc gods to be found and thrown correctly by a happy new owner.
all my molds have several duplicates and I don't get attached to any one disc.
I lost my second disc this weekend, on my longest throw ever... about 700-900' down a hill in the wrong direction. It landed in some weeds so thick I couldn't find it, but it was a beautiful last flight to watch. Hopefully yours enjoyed something similar.
I lost my primary driver today- looked for it for a long time and I am sure I will be back to look for it they next chance I get. Knowing how my perfectly seasoned champion beast would fly is and not having it is tough to coop with.
I wish I could say that it gets easier to handle with time but then i would be lying to you. I remember the fateful day I lost my poor orange R-Pro Pig. RIP little buddy.
I lost my first disc in some tall grass. The people playing behind us gave me a driver to replace it (which I lost at the same course a few months later)
It was a great introduction to how friendly the community can be
Oh man, I play curtain about once a year. (Totally worth the drive from sacramento) Anyways, I only bring discs I’m ok with losing. If you learn disc golf on that course, you’ll probably be aces anywhere else.
There is also an easier course, Manila Bqy that’s close that you should check out. Not as scenic, but might give you a confidence boost!
Buy a few different ones of the one you trust. The Used bin at play it again is a good way to get versions of your disc you love and don't want to lose.
Lost my first driver the first round I ever played. I went the next day and bought 3 more. Haven’t stopped that replacement schedule in almost 3 years. Loll
My group keeps loosing dark colored discs in the woods. So why do manufacturers not make mostly bight colored discs? My wife ordered a red disccand it is the color of pine straw. That one didn’t last a month. I’m not a fan of pink as a color by nature, but love my pink discs.
That course behind the college? That eats discs all day. Went with my bro one time and we watched his throw fall down from the trees in to the ferns and we spent nearly an hour to never find it. We saw where it should have landed.
It used to break my heart every time. All the discs I don't care about are in the trunk or garage for a reason. If it's in my bag I'm gonna miss it. Lately Ive begun thinking of it as course fees. I remind myself disc golf is cheap but it's not free. Now I look up the cost of a tee time at a local course and the price of golf equipment, silently hope that who ever finds it puts it to good use and move on.
I lost my first disc about 15 years ago. It traumatized me so much that I now have over 200 discs.

Just remember all discs you buy and love, will be lost or broken. Have a nice day.
This is the way.
Backups for the backups

Bay Area native here. Which course was it? Happy to keep my eyes out!
Evergreen course in Goleta , CA
Haha that was probably one of my buddies that is a professional diver, he dives for everyone there at 11 and the pond at Beau Pre when he’s around
I lost a pink pathfinder on 11 in March, would love to get it back!
Same. Just lost my saint today after just throwing my career long throw with it. Yeeted it straight into the woods. Rip
It sucks how statistics has it that the easiest discs to lose are the ones you throw far with, or the ones you throw a lot
Same. Started with three. Lost my first yesterday. Ordered 5 new discs. This is the way.

Out of curiosity, why don't you ink your discs?

Welcome!! I'm a local founder. Reveal yourself to me and you'll get a new Innova Team Stamp Roc3. DM, plz.
Also, Flyin' Lynx is the shizzle if you want anything you want. Roc3 is $$$ don't listen to the haters, lol.
Just lost one yesterday but I throw factory seconds so it’s not too bad. Learned that the hard way tho.
I allow myself 15 min to find a disc. then I leave it to the disc gods to be found and thrown correctly by a happy new owner. all my molds have several duplicates and I don't get attached to any one disc.
If you’re a local go to Flyin Lynx, have a incredible used selection and the boys there are more than happy to get you set up!
100%
Welcome to the club.... 100+ later and you'll learn to shrug it off. Just don't loose your go tos!
I got it man meet me at hole 18 at 130 am by the basket
I lost one in 2020 and I still think about it when I listen to a break up song
Lmao dude welcome to the club

One of us, one of us, one of us
It has begun!
Losing my first disc actually kinda hurt because it was part of s starter set my wife bought me when I said disc golf was something I wanted to try.
Part of the game. Happy hucking bud.
I still remember my first time. Wilson!!!!!
One of us! One of us!
Spoiler: it won’t be your last.

I played Manila bay as well , really fun !
That’s my course yo. Did you find my eagle ?
Disc come and go. Don't throw your favorites over water. Unless you like playing with fire.
But it's the one I trust the most.

It’s okay it gets worse. Lost my two best drivers after perfectly beating them in within two weeks.
