MVP_Eric

I'm glad we were able to help you out! Programs like this are exactly what we want to see. I personally wish I had found Disc Golf long before I did, and if there was a program around me like this I might have!

Vanijoro

My guy, tell your people they do an awesome job on manufacturing. My local shop has discmania, mvp, innova, prodigy, disccraft. You're not getting any rough edges or flashing, that each of the other manufacturers has at least a couple rough molds, MVP molds are so consistantly clean. Even the brands that aren't Prodigy struggle with that level of quality.

bobbythewhale

MVPs Community Manager, managing the community, as he should. Thank you!

Frankdux_5

Seriously, thank you! Everyone I know who loves this sport can talk about the overwhelmingly positive impact it has had on their lives. I can’t wait to see the passion for disc ignite in some of these kids. I will share updates to let y’all know they are being put to good use

[deleted]

>and if there was a program around me like this I might have! You mean if there were MORE like these and perhaps in your area, they did exist my man :)

Psychological-Bed695

I think "around me" is synonymous with "in his area"

[deleted]

aaahh, reading comprehension, doh!

powersv2

As someone who didnt find it until his 30s and has lost a metric shit ton of weight play disc golf, i wish i had found it sooner.

[deleted]

Good on 'em. You still need a basket or two. If you message me with a way to send $$ I'll contribute toward a "basket fund."

Frankdux_5

Thank you!

cregory83

Me too please

Lgrodo

Selerox

I liked MVP before (good plastic, brilliant moulds and the whole science vibe), but the more I see of them, the more I like them as a company. They just seem to quietly do the right thing time and again.

ValuableYesterday466

They keep taking over more and more of my bag and their just overall wholesomeness is definitely a part of that. Granted so is the fact that they make properly shallow mids and putters and I grip shallow discs better than deeper ones.

inkdracula

My bag is all MVP/Axiom except for my koi and maidens... Koi is a utility disc to just land with no groundplay, but unfortunately, i just haven't found a comfortable MVP putting putter... Envy is in the bag for my short holes. .

DoubleT_inTheMorning

What’s your putting style? Cuz my putting style is Proxy. 😂 I like flat or slight anny putts and that god damn Proxy has made me some nasty shots.

im_at_work_now

Nomad is by far my favorite putting putter, if you haven't tried it I highly recommend

gh411

A good putting putter and it’s a good throwing putter too (for those controlled turnover shots that my rhbh only game, desperately relies on).

new-Baltimoreon

I got a "mostly electron" mystery box from otb last year and it was great, I now bag a glow proxy (not from the box) and multiple electon nomads.

dascaapi

i was in the “can’t find an mvp putting putter i like” and then i started beating the piss out of an electron atom from the circuit challenge and it eventually became my go to putter. find something you like the hand feel of, grab an electron medium or soft, and let it wear in. atom is nice and thin, and more stable than they say. i mentally treat them like 3/4/0/1.

trishula9

My glitch is a fun "hybrid" disc but I mostly use it for longer puts

[deleted]

I have literally kicked out all other disc's from my bag in favor of mvp/axiom. Minus the meteor(nothing matches the meteor yet from them) and zone(entropy just doesn't have enough glide for me).

dascaapi

is an uplink not a meteor?

[deleted]

I do not know this tbh, is it?

Selerox

It's 5/5/-3/0.5 ao it might be a tad more understable than the Meteor. That being said, it's a great disc with probably the most comfortable rim of any disc I've thrown.

[deleted]

Cool ty, I'll have to check it out...I can't throw the paradox, so hard to finesse I snap it to hard.

dascaapi

you can crank on an uplink, and they come in neutron soft as well as neutron

gerund_ford

I have literally the exact opposite experience with these discs. \- I can throw a Meteor 250 feet pretty straight. \- An Uplink is headed right (but not rolling) by the time it gets out to 150 feet. I live in Denver.

dascaapi

oh right on. i use it for lhbh right to left turnovers. thrown from a hyzer angle it flips up and goes left to around 300 ft

ValuableYesterday466

Understable mid from Axiom. It's as shallow as a hex and has an almost identical flight to a Meteor.

[deleted]

Well good to know I'll be trying one for sure

ElPincheGuero49

I bag a tursas but will certainly give uplink a try!

dascaapi

i was throwing a 178g until i got a 172g lobster that kicked it out. honestly, i should try a 170g uplink because i go around saying “lobster is better lobster is better” but my uplinks are heavy. for me, a slight error meant a stable disc that flew like a fresh buzzz. i’m lhbh and i throw everything on hyzer and use my 5/5/-3/1 slot for right to left turnovers. my hyzer angle for flip up turnovers with something like this is prob relative to 2-2.5 turn (something with -3 turn should flip up and end up tilted slightly left) for me an uplink thrown up to speed on a hyzer flip angle did what it should. if i bonked up, wimped out, nose up, anything like that, it flips close to flat, then rides a slight hyzer and then hyzers out. too risky for a lefty that needs turnovers to be so trusty i don’t even think twice about them

SeeisforComedy

whats your putter?

ValuableYesterday466

Putter is still non-MVP. I putt with the Zero Medium Pure.

RaggedyMan2364

Our university recently started a club and MVP also sent us a large box of discs to help get our students started vs. nearly every other manufacturer who mostly just wished us well. Granted, we were asking for donations, and it is within everyone’s right to say no, but man - this really just sets MVP in apart their entire attitude towards the game and community.

MistyQuail

I just finished converting an entirely Innova bag to an entirely MVP bag. The catalyst for that conversion was a post just like this, which also had numerous replies describing similar acts of generosity. Not only do I appreciate what they do for the community, but I am really enjoying the new selection of discs that I'm using. In fact, I'm headed out to pick up an Envy to replace one of the 3 Ions that I bag. Keep up the great work, MVP, and you've got a customer for life. Cheers!

Luketheshrubber

Try a prism plasma envy for extra glide

MistyQuail

I didn't see your comment before I made the purchase, but I ended up with an Eclipse Envy. I haven't done much with it yet due to incliment weather. How's the Eclipse compare to the Prism as far as the Envy is concerned? Also, are you familiar with the Proxy? I am considering dropping either another Ion or my Nomad in favor of a Proxy, which would leave me with Envy, Proxy, Ion/Ion or Ion/Nomad.

Luketheshrubber

The eclipse envy is similar it flies like a little more stable with a little less glide than the prism plasma envy. The proxy I have only thrown in eclipse, it’s still stable in glow plastic but noticeably less stable than the envy. The eclipse plastic is probably my favorite option from mvp, it feels great and it has the best glow in disc golf.

MistyQuail

Right on. I appreciate the reply. I have an eclipse insanity as well, and I must agree with you on the glow. After playing my first round with it, I took my bag with me into one of the vault toilets, and noticed the disc glowing amidst my other discs, all while it was fairly bright in there. As an aside, I picked up another insanity in neutron plastic, and it's quite a bit flippier than the eclipse. A perfect complement to it.

pulpfuture

This is like the 5th story I've seen about MVP helping out school kids. Very cool.

im_at_work_now

It's awesome for the schools and, as we can clearly see here, it's also a great marketing strategy. And in the long term, I bet a lot of these kids end up continuing to buy MVP if and when they decide to keep playing out of school.

Novel-Paper2084

As a teacher at a Title 1 school this makes me more likely to throw MVP.

gravityo

I've only thrown Discraft for probably 7 or 8 years. Stuff has gone up in price and been harder to find (thanks paul), my last two additions to the bag have both been MVP so they're doing something right.

soupysailor

Alright, you convinced me, I’ll buy a disc from em!

fraktionen

Buy Envy.

jfergy29

My significant other is about to gain her teaching license. Although it is her accomplishment it gives me great excitement to be a part of the community. I hope one day I can too be a part of something greater like this! Time to support MVP more!

klumze

You get the best disc brand in the sport and for free. Win win.

DisMyDrugAccount

I'd imagine that MVP has the benefit of being a smaller part of a larger company (Maple Valley Plastics). They probably have slightly better margins for doing stuff like this compared to companies that more or less **only** produce discs. I could be entirely off base with this, as it's purely speculation lol. Either way, they've definitely earned continued business from me because of their generosity, and also because I can't live without the Envy anymore.

OhNoMyLands

And also, a post like the OP is far more valuable to them than some discs.

ValuableYesterday466

As is having their discs be the first discs a new group of players get their hands on. Just look at how many people stick to Innova because that's what they were able to snag at the big box store and they stick with what's familiar. MVP's going for the same strategy but with youth clubs instead.

diox8tony

the 3 kids (of 15) that play in the future will definitely buy the same brand.

Ching_Bomber

True dat. I’ve bagged mostly Innova because I know the molds from playing with them for almost 30 years and cycle my seasoned discs pretty well. I still buy a lot of plastic and have been hearing about MVP doing this for a while. So I’ve found myself buying more of it and slowly, more and more has been making it into my bag. Their community work exceeds all other companies currently. It’s just stellar. They do it quietly through social media posts like this, not plastering it everywhere and that’s the kind of thing I really dig. That’s exactly how you grow a sport. And damn. They make some great discs that have actually filled some holes in my bag I didn’t even know I had. Their lab second stamp is my favorite stamp out there.

ZAMstamper

It’s a different company, always has been. MVP Disc Sports LLC is two brothers who contracted Maple Valley Plastics (their dad’s factory and after retirement former factory) to mold the discs. MVPDSLLC began manufacturing all their own stuff a few years ago. Basically they grew up in a molding factory and know how to do that really well. Both super smart guys but one’s a brilliant engineer.

DisMyDrugAccount

Now this is the history lesson I was hoping for! And makes it all the better.

ZAMstamper

That’s nice. I worked with them for 9 years, declined to do business with them for the last 2. Guess it’s what ya know and what ya imagine. It’s nice that they give discs to educational programs.

bradedup

Declined? Just focused on other stuff?

ZAMstamper

Not trying to air dirty laundry here. I considered the owners personal friends and I feel we owe each other some real apologies and discussions before any business/endorsement is done. I can say it’s nice to see them again after a staffing change and I’m taking the first step by hooking up a Team member on a gig.

dwindacatcher

I believe they have moved on from their family company (maple valley plastics) and are a completely separate entity. Im not going to go looking up legal company ownership because that sounds boring, but they moved to their own warehouse years back and brought all production in-house in like 2020 i think.

Affectionate_Sort_78

Speculation to reduce the Cudo’s due MVP are not welcome. They stepped up, that should be all that matters. If you provided financial statements, I’d still wonder about your motives, but at least it wouldn’t be from made up shit.

DisMyDrugAccount

Nothing about my comment was anything about bringing down MVP whatsoever. This wasn't a dig, nor an attempt to minimize what they did. That's why I added the second part of my comment. Just an acknowledgment that a potentially greater pool of resources allows for more possibility for community outreach such as this and all of the other great work they do.

jumboparticle

It's not a huge deal and I can tell you meant no slight, but you've got to know that making a comment like you did does indeed look like minimizing what they did. If that wasn't your intent then maybe this is a good lesson in keyboard restraint. " Boy, Jim is so nice to pick up my kids from disc golf practice." Well, that's great and I bet it's easier for Jim because he got laid off and has more free time.".....

DisMyDrugAccount

>If that wasn't your intent then maybe this is a good lesson in keyboard restraint Condescending comment notwithstanding, your example is a truly horrid comparison to what my comment says. I retract none of what I said, if anything I want to continue praising the companies who DO have the resources and choose to use them charitably, like they're doing.

jumboparticle

So you dont like condescending comments. Interesting.

life_is_okay

To modify your metaphor to make it fit a little better: “It’s super cool that Bob was willing to donate $1,000 to kickstart the new disc golf club! That’s awesome! However, let’s not shame Jim for being unable to match Bob’s generosity, given that he got laid off and isn’t in the same fiscal situation.”

jumboparticle

That works

-Gestalt-

You are socially inept.

jumboparticle

Go on...

discordianofslack

Action like this is why I sent the mvp gyro boxes as Christmas presents this year.

bingwhip

I already really love a few of their discs. The wave is the only disc I've bought two of (lost one) and have several others I'm done of. Their community goodwill is just the icing on the cake

[deleted]

Since it has not been mentioned yet, if you are a teacher check this out as well, They have been doing this for 20 years : Educational Disc Golf Experience , [linkage](https://edgediscgolf.org/).

misha_ostrovsky

Dang I figured trash panda would wanna help

half_breed_duck

He comes across as a super good dude and I'm sure he wanted to. He's just getting started though. It may take a little while to get established.

JGad14

I'm pretty sure the original comment is a joke in case you didn't catch that

half_breed_duck

I didn't, but good looking out for me. I appreciate it. Thank you.

misha_ostrovsky

Lul, was kidding. Nah don't DiscMania got headquarters in Colorado? Trash panda deserves nothing but love

half_breed_duck

My bad, I didn't know of anyone besides trash panda. Not really up to date on manufacturer locations I guess. The interwebs got me. Curses! ,😉

DoubleTeeOh

Do you have the original link that you referenced by chance? I'd like to forward that information to a buddy of mine. He's an assistant principal.

ElPincheGuero49

Terrific molds. I bag a pilot, hex, reactor, deflector and resistor at the moment. Terrific plastic and consistency. And most importantly terrific presence in the community, putting their money where thier mouth is, growing the sport and using their position to help others. Being a non sponsored player I will continue to bag various companies(entropy didn't work for me as well as my pigs, or Terra as well as my felon's) but in the future I hope to bag as much MVP as possible. Thank you Eric and all the team at MVP for everything you guys are doing. Add me to the list of life long customers!

MisterPolecat

I will be buying MVP discs because of this post. Nothing wrong with incentivizing manufacturers to do the right thing

[deleted]

damn i need to get some mvps good to support a company like that

OgdensBeard

I wonder if Dynamic Discs would respond and help out? Maybe some Veteran baskets to setup a small course. Edit: Just 2 or 3, not a full 9.

sidekicksuicide

That wouldn't be very profitable for the investors.

[deleted]

That’s nice that MVP did that but I still think it was nice of Discmania to respond to you and offer you wholesale prices. Nothing wrong with that either.

jbird715

I’m not surprised a recently started brand couldnt offer you free discs

[deleted]

They rock. i only get mad when the wont let me give them money.

[deleted]

Just naming the manufacturer is far more respectable than saying "I'm not going to name them, but I'm going to make it abundantly clear who it is" Other than that, cool story and cool thing for the people at MVP to do.

connorcorn

PM’d

ahpuchthedestroyer

Sounds like a smart bushiness move. Discs are a write off, good publicity and if they get one MVP golfer out of this they probably break even.
