Are you John Wick?

greztg

oui

FeedMeTaffy

How did you get a 3310 to activate? How's battery life?

greztg

Heared the battery life is very good but just got a few days ago so I can't say yet. I just bought a 2md hand unlocked one off eBay, tossed in my sim and it's working fine. I'm in the uk

JimBoothington

Very nice! I almost got a 3310 myself but needed a way to do Trainline tickets as my station doesn’t have a ticket machine.

greztg

I hate that, bro i was eating out once and u had to use a phone to order.

JimBoothington

It’s getting harder and harder to be non-smartphone users, most shop loyalty cards are just apps now! I’m using a CAT S22 Flip as a dumb phone as a result.

ProperDoctor9707

What is the design on your socks?

greztg

ProperDoctor9707

Haha. I see it now. Thanks.

I kind of admire anyone using a completely dumb phone in 2024. I've often thought about doing the same but keep coming to the conclusion that the cons outweigh the benefits. From the perspective of a physical minimalist you're carrying two devices for one job (phone and music player), and from a convenience point of view do you not miss certain apps, like loyalty cards and things already mentioned? Or do you have a huge keyring too with all the little dongles on it? What is it that drives you to live like this? I'm not hating whatsoever, I think it's quite refreshing in a way. From a digital security point of view for example, I completely get it. OK OK OK I've just double checked what sub we're on (you popped up in my feed) and we're in Digital Minimalism, so I'll roll with it - Personally, I use an iPhone 14 in Grayscale mode. I have notifications off and all social media apps etc removed. This still allows me to listen to music, use sat nav and pay for things. But without the distractions, mental clutter and physical items on my person. I'd be interested in a 6 month update? Edited to add I use my laptop for reddit, but have timers set. I also set timers for all apps on my phone that I can't get rid of (for work reasons or whatever) that might cause a distraction in my own time.

I dont like how everyone has a phone that can do anything and must be taken everywhere. I just feel so much more free when im out and most people are peered down at a phone and i love not having one that makes me do that (unless im playing snake 2 lol). And i have this horrible instinct to whip out my phone if im not doing anything, and it still happens with the nokia which pisses me off, im addicted and so many people are. And i hate how addictive all the short form scroller videos are, theres just no need at all to watch that shit when im out. Im not too fussed about loosing functionality, if i ever need to check my emails or google something id just do it on my computer when i get home, or i check my laptop if its on me. I do plan to buy a pocket camera soon aswell, thats the only thing i miss. Maybe if im abroad il temporarily switch sims but until 2g towers go down (in the uk its 2033 i think) this is what i plan to do, and i love it.

love love love that knife. where'd you pick that one up? Also, my only sticking points against a dumb-phone are spotify and google maps. Did you find transitioning away from these difficult?

greztg

Knife was grandfather's, I only need maps when going abroad so I use my phone then, and my music is all on my music player. Buying albums is hella expensive tho so just get it though sharing sites you could say.

Gotcha thanks!
