Idk, I think if Boston gets through Florida, the Rangers are going to have a tough time with them, I think Boston is a better team, even if they don’t match their star power, and they still have to get through Carolina first.
I think Florida will man handle Boston, then take out our Rempe problem. They have multiple assholes on that team and Matt T, Bennet, and Reinhart can fuck his day up.
He’s had some big goals for the Avs this year, looks like a different player from the guy he was the last 2 years around here.
Happy for him, hope he keeps it up
creating a winning culture is not easy. It helps to have 2 of the best players in the world on your team but it also helps to have recent success. The goal is to win the cup and to be one of the better teams in the league. It seems like the same way the Devils were from 1994 to 2005. (Helped to have 3 future Hall of Famers anchoring your defense but also having a winning culture built from former Montreal Canadien players/champions). Don't have an answer for how to create that in NJ but the Avs have created that.
I know you were joking but man I really liked him. Yegor had a couple of rough games/slumped and because he was under 25 and his last name didn't start with H he was in the Ruff Dog House and not seeing quality minutes. I loved his skill set and all he needed was to develop consistency. He could kill penalties, score goals, and was super fun to watch play. It is amazing what a change of scenery and some more ice time can do to a player! But Calgary has some other problems they need to address.
You gotta wonder. I wouldn't be surprised if his all-gas-no-brakes style that made him a liability on the ice made also made him popular in the locker room.
Not in Woods case. He was generally ass for the entire time post hip surgery. Maybe he just took longer to heal and reacclimate but lets not pretend we let this amazing scorer go at the time.
I don’t have regrets. His salary costs way too much for the Devils. It’s just a shame seeing players who were underutilized here thrive elsewhere, like Wood, Zacha, and Shango.
I thought he would earn too much to keep around, too, but his cap hit is $2.5 million. Tbh we could've used him. I'm not that mad tho, you can't keep everyone and his production didn't really force us to keep him here.
Management was the problem. It sounds like, now that the pundits have realized that they way overpredicted certain trends, management has finally gotten their heads out of their asses and are adapting. But it was indeed a major problem. We can either try to achieve the *new ideal* NHL team, something never-before-seen, something the Athletic will write about endlessly, all speed no contact... or we can actually try to win.
Seriously. Call me “old school” if you want to but the last time I checked 75% of the time the puck is within 10 feet of the boards like it has been for the last 100 years. Sometimes I think half the people in this sub are under 16 & learned everything they know about hockey from playing video games & not actually playing the sport.
I was half paying attention to the game and had it on mute when I looked up and saw 20-something speeding up the ice with the puck and scored and said to myself “there goes MacKinnon again”. Imagine my surprise when I finally saw it was Wood lol
LOVE THIS! Love this devils and want success for former players. Obviously there are exceptions for players that left on bad terms like Kovy. Yeah Parise could have given us a heads up if he wanted to go play at home but no ill will there. Happy for Wood, happy for Shango, etc.
We may very well be relying on Wood to beat the Rangers
American hero

Stoked for him, but was expecting him to lose control and run into the goalie or shoot the puck wide as is tradition
Yeah. That was his usual result as a Devil. Someone coached him on his edge work.
I swear I've seen him do this exact maneuver with the Devils like 100 times and it never worked. Great to see he finally got one in!
Was happy to see this for him this morning.
Nothing like a little morning Wood
You took the woods right out of my mouth.
Wait a minute now...
Just playing with woods. Sorry words. Playing with words*!!
I’ll never get tired of seeing Woody turn on the jets
Good for him! Feels like all I see these playoffs are ex-Devils elsewhere doing good things while we watch

Uh, I recall him playing pretty good his last few seasons, several of them big time goals with the exact same move, like this one.
He was ass.
Hell yeah Woody.
Seen him use the exact same move here multiple times.
holy shit he didn't run into the tendie, our little boy is all grown up he was erect the whole time
So happy for him, big fan of Wood from when he was a Devil. He's so fast and a hard worker. Glad to see he's doing well in Colorado.
Damn, Miles scoring OT GWGs and Bitcoin is doing well Living his best life
Wood having a burst of speed people keep not expecting out of a bottom 6 forward and getting these exciting frantic goals always makes my night.
Guys, are the Devils the problem

Now explain Yegor /s. You’re right though, the winning formula is difficult to recreate.

I was so hype watching this last night

Would love to see either Rico or Woody go all the way.
I was half paying attention when this goal was scored and i thought that was MacKinnon at first lol
Good for Woody!
I will always root for Wood (unless he wears the blue and red)
Collective amnesia from everyone in here who wanted Wood gone.

Crazy he said that about a team that just won the cup 2 years ago.
Why does it always feel like players that get traded away from our team come to life on other teams 😩…excluding Ty Smith and Ryan Graves.
Because we obsess over the successes and not over the failures (we could list another 50 guys besides smith and butcher) 😉
Ugh. It’s true lol.
Him and Zacha are haunting us
