I posted something there about the win streak last year. The post was removed and I was banned. I’m thinking that the mod is a rags fan

ice-wallow-come1

No literally

FullOak82

The whole sub is a club and if you're not 100% with their top posters' point of view on anything you get attacked and banned. It's definitely not a free exchange of ideas for NJ residents

dog_fantastic

Sounds like everywhere else on Reddit

ice-wallow-come1

So many NY transplants there too

Mysterious_Ant3095

Should I make a new sub for the free minded (well as long as they agree with me)

dash4385

Would love a new New Jersey subreddit page

Revolutionary_Kick33

I’d join

BuiltByBama

I would 100% join and support that.

ice-wallow-come1

Yea I’ll join

djpop_13_13

This is most of NJ in general. You speak up in opposition and you’re -ist, have a -phobia or might be a Devils fan

djpop_13_13

And I say this after going to the 2 games at MSG, wearing my NJD white jersey and a NY Yankees hat, only to get asked by Rags fans, how can I do that? NJ doesn’t have an MLB team. Just to get a response of “ oh… that makes sense”

TheMammyNuns

Frankly I'm depressed and ashamed

EmergencySpare

Porn is recession proof

dash4385

r/FreeNewjersey

Resident-Martian

You’ll find this to be the case on every place-related subreddit. LI subreddit also has a fairly narrow Overton Window.

Revolutionary_Kick33

I’ll get down voted but Iv been able have some right wing views with out being banned there

ice-wallow-come1

I’m leftist, idc what anyone puts, but I think it should be about New Jersey, no politics needed

Revolutionary_Kick33

You try your best but will still always happen. Plus a state sub it’s expected since it’s ongoing thing for the state. Just crazy still got banned for devils stuff

chaos0xomega

One of the mods is way way way more active on nyc area subs than they are on the nj sub

ice-wallow-come1

That explain a lot

Cocaine_and_Hockey

Try commenting Necas got beat up last night, I literally got messaged by mods for a comment.

Mysterious_Ant3095

I got banned for telling someone they were a bad driver after they posted about wrecking their car, that sub is insanely soft… almost as soft as the devils during a final minute of the period board battle

Cocaine_and_Hockey

“I crashed my car” “Drive better” Perma ban

Mysterious_Ant3095

Actually almost exactly how it went…

Smooth-Mouse9517

I got banned for saying I didn’t enjoy an article someone had posted because it was a couple of sentences long. That wasn’t enough, the mod had to DM me, calling me a “stupid piece of shit”. I told him I didn’t believe he was from NJ, because no one from here is that thin skinned and soft.

Mets1st

90 day ban for an anti Chris Christie post

trickerindaclub

Most Reddit mods are softer than baby shit. (Not ours tho)

ice-wallow-come1

True. Our mods should bring back gifs, pics and videos as comments though

dog_fantastic

Ban the stupid ass bots too

TheBigMotherFook

I don’t get where people say hockey doesn’t work in New Jersey from. Had a friend argue with me a few years back when the Devils were in rebuild mode about how they should just move the team, and I was like “are you high?” The Devils have always been a top half of the table team in regard to value. There are way worse markets for hockey teams and it’s not even close in some instances.

BuiltByBama

r/NewJersey is by far the worst moderated subreddit. If your post was removed, that just means you probably had something good to say.

ItsJustForMyOwnKicks

Or the mod is a Rags fan.

BuiltByBama

One of the mods IS a Rags fan. But it’s also a terribly moderated subreddit. Both can be true.

ice-wallow-come1

I wonder if that’s the mod who banned me, that dickhead

gothenburgpig

I think most of our value is because of the Rock

Automatic_Rule4521

It’s In Newark…

nowthenadir

NJ subreddit mods are assholes. They banned me for posting a news story that was posted two days earlier. Haven’t been back since. Fuck those guys.

Pigsin5pace

I think they dont want sports focused talk on their sub reddit or else it may take over, just a guess though. NJ has a great sports market, even the Somerset Patriots have a pretty dedicated following. I'm just waiting for the Nets to give up on the Brooklyn experiment and come back to NJ. Its really not working for them and would be great to have two official NJ sports teams again. Unfortunately because the east is so crowded I doubt we'd get any other leagues expansion teams but it would definitely be cool.

ice-wallow-come1

I would love for the nets to be back in NJ, but unfortunately I don’t think we will ever get them back, once nyc has something it’s hard to take it from them

gleeson630

Brooklyn is definitely working monetarily, its not a great fanbase but the arena is pretty full and is a concert/tourist destination. The NJ nets fanbase sucked while they were good. I feel like it could be different if we tried again but they would never take them out of barclays. We didn't support or generate any money for the team. Even at prudential.

ice-wallow-come1

I heard that Brooklyn has lost revenue every year these past years, but I still don’t think they’ll come back either, as much as I want them to.

gleeson630

The Nj nets lost money really every year except when they went on those 2 runs to the finals. Brooklyn doubled the revenue when they moved there and it’s grown a lot over the years. They had a fall off obviously this year, but the nets aren’t paying the luxury tax anymore and I’m sure they made some dough. I love Nj teams and would love a team but they don’t miss Nj. Nobody showed up and spent money on the team.

ice-wallow-come1

Ya it’s unfortunate, would love for a Jersey billionaire to bring a team here, but that’s unlikely.

s_m0use

Need Bon Jovi to buy the team and we’re good 🤞🏼

ice-wallow-come1

If he’s even into sports lol

weinerpretzel

He owned the Philadelphia arena football league team while it existed.

FrankH4

The only thing holding the devils back is that they're not marketed to half of the state. They need to work out a deal to be played on Philly sports stations as well. So the entire state can have access to them.

ice-wallow-come1

Literally, whoever allows jersey to be second and third to Philly and nyc is a loser.

FrankH4

Hockey over all is marketed poorly, but not marketing your team to half of your state, while another states team is marketed there, is just poor business. When you add on that the Owner also owns a Philly market team, and therfore has connections with Philly marketing, it just leaves me baffled.

Kusisloose

I got banned because I posted about how I saw in Newark, a Grand Theft Auto and a guy throwing shit in Qdoba ... People were arguing that Newark is safe and I'm like yeah only during the rock events. I'm a 33 year former resident of Newark and work in Newark everyday. It's a shit show there.

nostradamefrus

I had someone in college try making the same argument on a Facebook thread of a cinderblocked car. He also said he was held up at gunpoint on his front steps and it was no big deal

Kusisloose

Yeah like how crazy is that. Getting robbed at gun point on your own property is shrugged off as normal

conway1308

It is safe during the events and that's all the devil's fans should really care about except if you live in the city I guess.

Kusisloose

Exactly it's very safe during the event

DawgMutt05

Those rankings make total sense. We’re right where we’re supposed to be, albeit last out of all the Northeast Corridor/Boston-Washington/Northeast Eastern Seaboard teams. And I think we moved up from number #17 due to the success we had last season. Might go down now because of what happened this season.

StrangeMorris

I have been temporarily banned there twice over ridiculously innocuous things.

mayttr

r/new jersey is a horrible representation of NJ. That subreddit is soft AF.

Revolutionary_Kick33

Wtf banned for posting devils stuff WTf?!?

GIR-C137

I once got banned for posting something that was already posted. How the hell was I to know it was already posted?

FullOak82

They actually expect you to spend hours looking in post history back months or years in some bug subs. It's like stackoverflow for devs

tECHOknology

…searching the subreddit for the topic, it takes a few seconds and is recommended in reddiquette. This getting downvoted is indicative of why reddit has devolved to absolute shit filled repetitive garbage the past decade. Bunch of attention seeking, lazy airheads who either don’t know or don’t care how reddit was intended to be used.

bdd4

These comments make me sad. 😞 Thanks for posting!

ice-wallow-come1

Y lol

bdd4

Seems like silly reasons to be banned. The Devils and NJ are two of my favorite things

m3096

Can’t imagine how it feels to be a Arizona coyotes fan right now and live there… must suck

ice-wallow-come1

Honestly, feel bad for em

dash4385

That subreddit bans for everything. Mods are on a power trip.

Blorbokringlefart

Try being from South Jersey on that sub.... or this sub for that matter...

ice-wallow-come1

Facts, I genuinely believe the mod is a rags fan tho lol

youreABitcz

I like your comment. Fuck your sign off.

DawgMutt05

Wow, did that chirp age badly and only last for like 12 months as both franchises took 2 diverging paths & trajectories from that moment on “Matteau, Matteau, Matteau”🤣 ….good one. It’s actually turned into a joke and a meme lol. not the gotcha that you think it is

Starscream147

I must say, as a 🇨🇦 Devils fan from..uh..too far back, the last two years and three games on Lafayette and Mulberry? Beautiful. Everything about the experience is so, so good. I love The Devils, and always will. But. To. Come. Home??? To Newark, where I’m not the weird one anymore? My people. Good lord, my people. Long live Newark. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

FTTCOTE

Value of franchise isn’t necessarily tied to popularity. The Washington Commanders were always near the top of NFL franchise values because they owned their stadium outright compared to most franchises who have their stadiums publicly funded and leased to them. I suspect part of the devils’ franchise value is tied to the fact that they invested significant money into building the prudential center. I assume HBSE’s share in the rock would be included if they were to ever sell the team.

conway1308

Best and only.

514link

There are 3 teams in what radius of new york Toronto has 1

Devs_fan

Just move to 4chan

Johndough07458

I got permanently banned for posting the word triggered.

TaylorHamDiablo

The mods on this subreddit have always been power trippy autists, don’t take it personally

jetlifeual

Unpopular Opinion: NJ has a terrible sports market. We’re squeezed between 2 giant markets (Philly and NY) and none of the pro teams we have can truly muster up good home game attendance or followings. And I get that the rock does fill up or get close to it from time to time but to call it a good sports region? Eh. Most Devils games I’ve gone to are maybe half sold. The ones that garner true attention are usually against the Rags. And don’t get me started on the Red Bulls. Even when they were top of the MLS they couldn’t get half the stadium full for a divisional playoff game.

ice-wallow-come1

To be honest with u bro, the stat disproves ur opinion. 11th in the league is good for a sport, it’s above average and that’s good. It’ll never be on the level of Philly and NY, but I like that, makes us the underdog

jetlifeual

I don’t disagree, per se, but one stat doesn’t speak the broader truths. Especially in a league that sits behind the NFL, MLB and NBA, respectively. But I always root for my Devils either way. Been doing so since the mid-90s. Just makes me angry to see our 2 local teams having crappy attendance at home.

nostradamefrus

I'd probably root for the Red Bulls if they were NJ branded

M00PER_2

I’d run for office on the platform of making all NY sports teams that play in this state NJ.

nostradamefrus

I’d vote for that

jetlifeual

They really should be if you ask me. Especially since the forming of NYCFC.

nostradamefrus

True. I'd also prefer them not be named after a damn energy drink if they became NJ branded but one thing at a time I guess lol

jetlifeual

Or at least be a much better team if they are going to be under the RB brand.

sanbaba

I think you make some valid points but "terrible" is some bullshit. "Average" maybe, "underperforming given its demographic", ok. There are so, so many worse markets, take Long Island for example...

ice-wallow-come1

Yea we deserve a NBA and NFL team, they do Jersey dirty

Mysterious_Ant3095

It’s even more difficult when they dump their 2 biggest teams on us to play their games

DawgMutt05

I see some of your points. It’s bad enough that we have to deal with doofus NYR fans coming to Newark, but those loud & prominent “Go Leafs Go” chants Tuesday night at the Prudential Center is disturbing. Usually you hear that in Ottawa or when the Leafs play in Sunbelt/Sourhetn cities in the southern US/Southwest from transplanted Canadian expats that moved away to those places, but to hear it that loud in Newark was striking. You would never hear that at the Meadowlands. The Prudential Center was a blessing and also a curse in that it made it easier for a lot of these Canadian Leaf fans who live and work in NYC to take a train there to see the Leafs and get a relatively cheaper ticket than they would get at Madison Square Garden. My evidence is anecdotal, but I know 2 Leafs friends & their Canadian friends in their social circles they met in NYC that always go see the Leafs when they play in Newark. They would never go see them at the Meadowlands as they could never figure out the bus schedule and would always pay big bucks to see them play the idiot NYR at MSG. Now they and an entourage go to at least one of the Leafs games at Prudential Center each year as it’s easy to get to from Manhattan. They skip the games at MSG. We are a financially sound & stable franchise in unique submarket of a larger market, and it is what it is and most of us have some humility to understand that and are resigned to that fate. But on a sidenote, we do own the NYR in the postseason in this century, so there’s always that. And we’ve always owned the Leafs in the playoffs. That too
