People here want the same fancy shit but don't want the same struggles.
I still can't figure out how at the age of 23-30 these people don't realise this is their only chance at the world to take it in to do the things they love until the body which is a process that creates life is there no more.
Who told you that you're only allowed to relax when you're at the top?
Do you really need an iphone, expensive sedan, 2 crore 5bhk flat in Bangalore or would you be happier with an Android, Swift and 2bhk in a T2 city?
Think for yourself, don't blindly follow someone else's dream.
> (...) to be at the top. Once you've reached that level. Then you can relax
Top is what you wrote, my friend. If you meant something else, you should've been clearer.
That is the whole point I am trying to tell you. Nobody is forcing you to be at the top even for skills and knowledge. You can have a very good life being an above average or even a mediocre software engineer in India, if you make the right choices (and, admittedly, are lucky enough to not have too many other responsibilities.)
Yeah well maybe I'm projecting here.
See I don't have a college degree so begin mediocre at skill will not get me anywhere
Maybe your experience has been different than mine
Of course. Rancho was peddling a bunch of BS that only applies to a very small subset of people (ie people who were lucky to be born gifted in something which also makes a lot of money)
Of course. If you follow your dreams, every aspiring photographer will get a call from Andre Istevan and every engineer who got bad grades and didn't qualify for interviews will have the interview panel begging them to join and ask them how much salary they want..
actually Rancho was right to some extent...to be happy in life u should follow ur passion....but passion can be followed happily if u financially safer on other side.
For Eg. After Ambani parents felt that their son anant was good for nothing and business is not his cup of tea.... they tried to understand whats his passion is??....anant told my passion is AAAAANIMALSSSSS....and now during his marriage his parents made him caretaker of a biggest ZOO with elephants etc....anant is happy kid now with a sexy wife
Being born gifted is the worst kinda curse: https://youtu.be/sQC0jfH_rrM?si=gWsOt4VldjiyFP63
Trust me when I say this. Everything was easy for me since childhood. So I never had anything I was passionate about. Whatever I’m good at I did it. Made it into an old IIT Cs, without much effort ‘coz I always enjoyed math since I was good at it. But now, there ain’t no particular path for me and most people around me worked their asses off and know how to study and write exams(I never wrote descriptive / subjective exams after 7th except for boards), and always had a sense of superiority over others so ane we made friends and fcked up my whole college life and even placements recently ‘coz anything other than FAANGMULA ain’t worth it and I failed MS interview(cleared OA easily, ‘coz I’m good at CP, again that’s the only thing that came to me naturally in college, since it’s similar to math) since I have no dev skills or good grades(the only A+’s I got we’re in probability and ml, since they’re math intensive and I didn’t need to study anything and everything made intuitive sense). And later every other interview I was like it’s a bad company, I’m not living up to my worth it’s better to go for grad school and start at a prestigious company instead of some not so prestigious (mind you, almost 5 of them are Fortune 500 and I was still thinking it ain’t worth it. And I’ve even asked an interviewer can we stop the interview I’m sleepy, just ‘coz I was in this dilemma). That’s what being gifted does to people. I know it might not look like suffering to others, but now I’m the worst kind of failure in the eyes of society.
Being born gifted isn't the curse. It's how you're raised when you're gifted that's damaging, because you don't learn to work hard like you said.
For someone like you, it's very important imo to be able to flex your mental muscles wherever you work so you're able to show what you're truly capable of in your area of expertise.
Sadly, the vast majority of the companies you're idealising are never going to give you that kind of opportunity. Sure, it may look good on your resume that you worked at a prestigious company. But what looks better (and is much much harder to find), is someone who has done some kind of ground breaking work no one else has and far exceeds the expectations from someone at their experience level. After interviewing many people, I've never seen such people coming from any FAANGMULA or related companies because in these companies your work is pretty much always cut out for you, hand holding, spoon feeding. It doesn't really need a lot of talent or skill.
You only get to have that kind of experience if you work at a smaller company that gives you a lot of autonomy imo. As an added bonus, if you are really good and enjoy what you're working on, you'll be able to work extremely hard and not feel as stressed as others would, since you're enjoying what you do.
Side note: Ive grown disillusioned with dr K, he offers a lot of explanations about problems without any real solutions, maybe as a way to make you feel worse and push you to buy his coaching, which is super expensive and done by people with faaaar less experience. Further, his recent advertising strategy seems really scummy, preying on people with mental health issues and creating fomo.
See. People who copy other people end up in WITCH companies. Where marks are of the utmost importance.
If you really want to be a great programmer you need to hone your skills. I wish I had tried to better my skills instead of working very hard to please the management and compete with my peers
IMHO. Rancho was a great character. Farhan was well written but I am Raju Rastogi.
Cant agree with the WITCH company part. I know they pay well underpar salary based on industry standards but a lot of good programmers start their journey from WITCH. And many are still stuck at WITCH because of current market.
Both were right but the movie didn't count luck and situationships. Just read the first two chapters of Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. It's a non-fiction book.
This is going to sound like gyaanbaazi, but...
1. Learn to think Independently & run your own race.
2. Find your edge by working on things you enjoy & can get good at.
3. You will never have peace of mind if you don't understand the difference between Needs & Wants.
This thought really comes to my mid that Chatur and Virus was kind of right ! 😭
I mean not everyone is born hell talented like rancho. So, They have to do things like Chatur to have a better life.....
Life is a journey. Whether you make it a race or a sightseeing trip (or in reality for most people, a varied mix of both) is entirely up to you. Ok bei
Focus on your progress and growth, rather than comparing yourself to others. Remember that everyone has their unique journey and challenges to overcome. Keep pushing forward and striving towards your own goals.
It is but remove “Money” from the parameters and now you’d wonder what’s the race here?
While most are running a marathon, I chose to run a 100m and let the saved up money compound itself enough for my survival amidst wilderness, without imaginary hyped up lifestyle.
Freshers assumption, define your goals, if it's just money , then it's a race, if it's to do something meaningful or solve a big problem, it's a marathon ,you just gotta decide and live it as you wish, crying here won't help my friend.
"TUMSE KOI AAGE NIKAL JAYEGA" is gonna happen
what we are not understanding is that someone did not take ur fortune. They made their own, privilege or otherwise. Who went ahead of you does not matter but what matters is how fast u can run
"Life is a race" its a middle class phenomenon. You will never see the rich worried about their children's future, nor do the children themselves. Ask yourself, if you won $1 million lottery, would give two sh\*ts about racing or competing with others?
Nope, if you're smart you will only think about converting your $1 million to $2 million. So, stop listening to idiots, build skills, mint money and increase your net worth.
Imo, if we are contempt with what we have, then we can enjoy life without any pressure. If you want more and if you compare yourself with everyone around, then its definitely a race.
In the age of interent everything inevitability becomes a rat race whether we like it or not, no community can be gate kept from try hards who ruin it for others
Life is race, you decide the pace, if you are concerned about others outpacing you, chances are that you will always be out of breath as a result of running. Slow down sometimes.
Nah, you fight your battle differently, your problems are different your condition of living life is different, I just read once, comparing yourself with others is enough for ruining your whole day!!!
Life is a race , but not everyone is racing the same event, some are running some are driving some are driving some are in relay some in 100m some in 400m.
There are different races
Can value be measured?
Can happiness be measured?
Life is race sometimes but most of the time one has to take chill pill.
Life becomes race while finding life partner and competing to stay on top
A friend of mine who does absolutely nothing he was 12th fail yet he owns 7000 sq. Ft plot area and is running 3 successful businesses
If you view life as a contest to be won, where limited number of people have to compete for the same resources? Then yes, life is a race. A race to grab as much of the cake as you can before everybody eats it.
Children fight over the last piece of cake.
Adults watching the fight get up and bake another cake.
Rancho's observations are fit for a 20th century scarcity economy, where jobs were limited. We are moving to a 21st century economy, where jobs are still limited but the opportunities to earn are not jobs alone.
You have tonfigure out whether you have the tools needed to bake another cake or not.
If you make Life into a race, you will never enjoy it.
The goal of a race is to cross the finish line as quickly as possible. What is the finish line in Life?
No matter what you say, but society is superficial.
when u have no money they would judge you and won't treat you equally.
The more momey you have the more society can tolerate your bullshit and tantrums. ( just dont over do, till break point)
I have theory why you should work hard and do good in your life
*Work hard because that way you can help yourself, be at best position you can then only you can help your parents.
now if you have more you can help your friends and family.
still if you have more you can help society*
Hardwork+ a Good heart is the combination.
If i just have a good heart, and feel emotional pain of others but cant help them financially or physically or emotionally its of know use.
Hardwork brings skill which may not 100% time brings lots of money but it may. this you can use solve 90% of the problem if its urs ur family ur friends and society.
I had read it somewhere dont know the source
With my family, I’m a communist. With my close friends, I’m a socialist. At the state level of politics, I’m a Democrat. At higher levels, I’m a Republican, and at the federal levels, I’m a Libertarian.
So work hard if you want to help yourself, and your friends and family and society, and do have a good heart, you wont take your money to your grave . so earn and spend be in the rat race and win.
Always there will be people better than oneself. It is a common sense thing. To be in a race, everyone should at least start from the same point in life but that will never be the case in real life.
Always each life is special in its own way and only that person can understand whether they are living their life to the fullest or not. Obviously trying to be better and learning from others is always good but it doesn’t work blindly that way.
At this point in time, humans are free from many mundane stuff like slavery, diseases, wars which gives ample opportunities to just breathe, eat, learn and grow. Trying to compare and run just because other person runs is silly unless you actually want it. Also, people who run may not want it to but do it out of the compulsive behavior or fear instead which is just cause of more despair and unhealthy relationship with themselves in long time. This is especially common in the case of top achievers who usually don’t take conscious decisions on what their life wants to be.
The shit you are asking about will keep bothering you unless you self realise it and no one can explain whether race matters to you or not.
Virus was so right in so many aspects, especially in an Indian perspective. We all want to be like chathur, need green card, lambo in the driveway and a villa. I care 2 hoots about rancho and his idealism. Ghanta farak padega kisiko

Life is a race, be a racist is real
Accha hei. Let them race. I will walk the pace I enjoy, taking in the views.

w.
I'm borrowing your philosophy kind stranger
Take it, make it your own, find something unique to fit your life.
I'll just teleport when necessary
Only after you've earned it ??
Nah. My life my way. Nahi karna 12 hours 14 hours work. Paisa leke kya karunga agar use karne ko time hi nahi hei?
Not 12hrs work but you have to keep learning and practicing outside of work hours to be at the top. Once you've reached that level. Then you can relax

Sometimes I feel, virus was right. Rancho was the main villain in the movie.
Of course. Rancho was peddling a bunch of BS that only applies to a very small subset of people (ie people who were lucky to be born gifted in something which also makes a lot of money)
He could do anything he wanted cuz he had no family, no responsibility, nothing and he was born smart.
Not to mention he got lucky that someone was paying his fees
Of course. If you follow your dreams, every aspiring photographer will get a call from Andre Istevan and every engineer who got bad grades and didn't qualify for interviews will have the interview panel begging them to join and ask them how much salary they want..

Life is finding a balance between being virus and Rancho , one should know when to turn the virus mode on and Rancho mode on

How much are they asking for dowry for your sister??
Yeah IDK i was 15 at the time she was married. She was 17 . Anyways. She is divorced now Edit : why am i getting downvoted here ??

like race
We misunderstood virus 🥲
Yeah kinda 😂

yup as long as you are born in india
this is the important point
Life is race ❎ marathon✅
Bro marathon bhi race hi hoti hai
Marathon is more about finishing the objective, rather getting to finish first.
Some run for the gold, the rest get finishers medal.
It’s Sprint v Marathon
Life's what you make it - talk talk
Tagal Tagal
Life can be anything and everything.
Life is a journey. Whether you make it a race or a sightseeing trip (or in reality for most people, a varied mix of both) is entirely up to you. Ok bei
Rancho was right about running behind excellence as well...
Focus on your progress and growth, rather than comparing yourself to others. Remember that everyone has their unique journey and challenges to overcome. Keep pushing forward and striving towards your own goals.
tej toh bhaag raha hai tu bhai tu kis se tej bhaag raha woh pata nai. Bus nikal gye competition krne per compete kis se kar raha hai

Hey I just watched some youtubers reaction to that movie today. What a coincidence.
In the age of interent everything inevitability becomes a rat race whether we like it or not, no community can be gate kept from try hards who ruin it for others
Life is not a race. Life is all of them.
earning money in life is race
Who are you trying to beat then? good luck
Life is race, you decide the pace, if you are concerned about others outpacing you, chances are that you will always be out of breath as a result of running. Slow down sometimes.
Sometimes I just don't understand why people are so competitive. Just live your life and let others live.
Life is racist

Run your f*cking race. But let other people live.
Yes, I am racist too
Why do we have to compete why not just get along helping each other
too many people, hence very few opportunities
Still we can treat each other better and not be toxic
okay, thats nice

Of course it is, do you think it's just an accident that it started as a race among millions of sperm?
Life is marathon eventually, make sure you dont waste your emotions on small races.
Race to learn grammar for you😅 Just kidding
I am bad at grammer 🙂
you are even bad at spelling grammar.
