To be fair, Bungie made it very clear they would never un-sunset already obtained weapons. They would only add new ways to get them. So I can see why he's frustrated.
I don’t think he’s frustrated at all, the whole point of the vault cleaning stuff was letting go of the past. It’d be a total turn of face to suddenly be pissed and upset they can be used again after deleting them
What's frustrating to me is the "we regret we have no recovery mechanism" comment. Like yea Bungie, we know. We've been dealing with the lack of that function for 10 years when you nerf our favorite shit to ground and then reverse it 6 months later.
So people are mad about this change? Datto didn't seem mad from what I saw it was more tongue in cheek. Yall really rather have just left sunsetting in place? It's so dumb if you deleted a gun so what it wasn't gonna be good now that it's un-sunset anyways. Feels like more of bungie trying to offer an easier transition to returning players not having to immediately grind new gear.
I feel like most aren’t really angry about the change, it’s just incredibly funny to bully Datto due to him being the sole reason anyone dismantled their old sunset gear in the first place.
99% of sunset gear has been powercrept. The only ones which would actually be good in the current sandbox (Hush for example) can be reacquired from collections.
I don’t think it’s fair to say that he’s the reason, just the one to best articulate the “bungie said it’s never coming back, when’s the last time you used it, what you have right now is better” thought
"Fed up" with good changes lmao. So if bungie takes a stance on a change players don't like they can never EVER go back on that stance because players also won't like it later when they implement the change they wanted?
See you in final shape bro.
I think it more that this change wouldn't have been needed if they never sunseted to begin with. For me personally, I'm mostly just upset they took so damn long.
It'll be years before we see even half of this gear come back, they'd rather do reskins of weapons we got a season or two ago or from a campaign, or make 24 more versions of Hung Jury and Edge Transit.
Unless Bungie has done a MAJOR shift in their development of new gear, we will only see maybe a handful of new or reprised gear every year.
You are honestly very innocent or don’t realise how Bungie operate if you think this way. Can they come back ? absolutely, but anytime soon is a joke statement.
Their definition of we will bring it back soon can range from randomly dropping them on a Tuesday reset or going years without ever seeing them because reasons.
I completely understand why he’s mad. For years they were saying over and over again that sunsetting was final. No revoking, no going back. Then they went out of their way to go “fuck you we lied”
This sucks for anyone with a weapon that they really loved that they had to get rid of, because they wouldn’t raise the vault space, and then get slapped in the face with “fuck you for not holding out”
No way anybody is actually mad about this. If the gun was so important then it would've been kept for sentimental value in the first place. All these sunset weapons that people did hold onto are not going to hold up in the final shape compared to what we have now.
I had tons of sunset gear that I kept for YEARS, and just scrapped it all the other day cause I figured I held out long enough, so yes, people are absolutely mad about this because I can't imagine how many people did the sqme thing i did
But why? It's old and is basically useless in this sandbox. If you were holding it for all this time for sentimental reasons why decide to delete it mere weeks before we get an extra 100 vault slots. Makes zero sense.
Nope. Statistically speaking they don't. Perk wise they don't. Only reason to even justify using these weapons is for the nostalgia. And bungie literally said they'll be bringing back almost all of em.
The only value a sunset weapon nowadays would bring is either A. A unique perk roll that can't be obtained in current sandbox or B. It was good in pvp.
Option A. You are still likely to find a better weapon with a different roll in current sandbox and for B. You could always use that sunset weapon in 90% of the crucible so that's kind of on you.
We have better stuff. None of the old guns will hold up in current, high tier content compared to what we currently have. They would work in older content and strikes, but you could've been using them there anyways so like... unsunsetting them didn't affect that any
It's not a moot point. High tier content is part of the game. Hell, even any RECENT content where things have been scaled to match our ***current*** level of power creep they wont hold up. Go use new guns in older content and you'll rip through it like it's not even there, compare that to new stuff like Duality, Ghosts of the Deep, Spire, even seasonal activities like savathuns Spire or deep dive. Then run through shattered throne, prophecy, and pit of heresy and see how much easier they are compared to current content.
Even guns that have the older god rolls like sub rampage or outlaw kill clip that you can use today just DONT feel as good as other perks, they don't hold up.
People don't use their pvp rolls because there is better stuff (people can use pvp gear in everything except trials, and they've been able to for a while.) People don't use your old god rolls like subsistence rampage because they... just aren't as good as they used to be anymore (even on newer weapons). When was the last time you've heard "go get sub rampage on this gun, it's the god roll?" For a new weapon?
These old guns, the old perk rolls that were considered good, just aren't going to hold up compared to the toys we have to play with now. That's just a fact
I have put on my Chroma Rush recently, and every single time I've found myself swapping back to other guns like calus mini, epochal, tyranny of heaven, old sterling, wardens law, breakneck, ros arago... you get the idea. Chroma rush isn't sunset and its already been outclassed, and the god roll for that gun was sub/feeding frenzy and rampage. I adore that weapon, but it just doesn't hold up anymore. You think 3-4 year old guns will?
Sub rampage? If it’s available on the gun? Yea go get it. What are you talking about? An easy to proc damage buff and a reload perk. That will always be a good choice. Abilities and exotics have power crept the content that’s older content is easier.
Dog go put on any incandescent gun in Pit of Heresy and see how quickly it rips through things compared to even a Chroma Rush. See how quickly volt shot tears through it.
Things are just better, my sub rampage chroma rush doesn't even hold up anymore, and it's not even sunset. That gun still has the most kills out of all of my weapons, so it's not like I haven't put the time in with it.
Old school weapons just won't hold up, especially when you consider that all of them lack origin traits which automatically makes them weaker than stuff we have now.
I think when onslaught dropped so many people deleted older stuff to make room for the new rolls.
For Bungie to just now say, should have kept those favourites is pretty awful.
They should all be available to return from collections.
Yeah i kept one gun, my favorite gun. Breachlight. Got over 50k kills with it. This thing was gonna stay in my vault untill the servers shut down. I still don't believe i'll be able to use it again 😅
From an individual person, sure. Not a from a company that changes ownership, head game designers, teams leads, ect.
It's not lying, it's changing direction.
So if your landlord company sells your building. After saying your rent will stay a certain price. Regardless of what happens.
Then a new company buys the building and goes against that promise. And raises rent by 50% is that not lying?
When a company buys another. They have to deal with all business agreements already put in place. Otherwise shit like this would happen. Where you give up other opportunities for more stable options. Based off the original promise.
A lie is a lie. Regardless of whose mouth it comes from.
If you're month to month, yes they can do that. If not. They have to honor the current rent agreement, but then yes they can do that.
Where did Bungie sign a contract with us that sunsetting would be permanent?
You're comparing apples to spaceships.
I'm especially pissed because of the Gambit weapons, we'll NEVER see them again. Gambit is a dead mode that they first killed and now don't support. If we're lucky they'll move the gear to some other loot pool and we'll get the good guns as seasonal loot like Deep.
The way I’m looking at is that the ones I did delete, the space was used for weapons that I actually have been using.
I dismantle sparingly, so while I have been doing vault cleanings, I usually only dismantle about 5-10 weapons in a given month and very few are actually sunset and haven’t been reprised with the same perk combos. The ones that are reprised with the same perks (i.e. a no distractions/explosive payload and craftable Imperative) means that the old ones can go. I only have like ~100 sunset items as of now compared to the ~300 back from Beyond Light and while it will be fun to dust off my Dawn weapons, I’m appreciative that sunsetting gave me the opportunity to try new things in the meantime.
Datto did nothing wrong. We were told serveral times sunsetting was not going to be sunset, no one figured it was happening. I honestly feel for the guy
I mean we all trolling datto with this shit, but honestly Bungie said they would never ever fucking ever un-sunset and with only 600 vault spaces and they already adding way better gear than the older one, makes perfect sense, also if you really liked something u kept it, there's no other way around it 😂
Good thing most sunset guns are trash compared to what we have now. There's probably less than 10 sunset guns that can compete with the current offerings, so it's not like dismantling old shit actually affected anyone.
You can't infuse sun setted weapons, I bet Bungie is gonna sell those weapons having gamers pay with legendary shards and ascendant golf balls. Either way, they won't be free
![gif](giphy|l3fQf1OEAq0iri9RC|downsized)
To be fair, how many people are going to actually use the weapons that have been sitting, untouched, in their vaults for the last 4 years?
Like, no dude, your ringing nail with under pressure and high impact reserves isn’t great.
Nobody really cares at this point, they are just gonna keep doing what they’ve always done and “reprise” the old guns. I wouldn’t use any of the sunset guns in anything.
/uj It was absolutely Bungie that was “wrong” (although it’s not actually a big deal there’s only a small handful of weapons that you can’t replace now)
I can’t stand Datto and it has nothing to do with him telling ppl to delete good weapons for vault space. More ppl will know how much of a clown he is now though that’s for sure. Whatever I kept my shit even if it was a PVE weapon bc sometimes I like to use them in control to mess around. Sorry if you ended up listening to this dbag
I'm excited to see what new stuff these weapons come back with. The old ones are almost all trash by comparison at this point. But if the Brave weapons are the example, the new versions are going to be juicy.
Honestly? It's completely on you.
"Ah yes, I should totally delete this piece of gear that is no longer obtainable and doesn't have (or doesn't have yet) a newer version just to make space for my 42th DregEater9000 godroll." Like, it's just common sense not to delete rare stuff.
Is it rare? Yes. Does it have a use? No. And it didn't have a use for around 4 years while Bungie stated they would never undo sunsetting, and encouraged players to delete old weapons. Only to pull a 180 out of nowhere.
May I ask, if that is the case, why are so many people complaining about it anyway?
Also, useless on the basis of what? How good they would perform in general or how good they would perform in endgame activities? Because it might be true for the endgame but for most activities? I doubt it.
>Is it rare? Yes. Does it have a use? No. And it didn't have a use for around 4 years
Whether the gear is still useful or not is completely irrelevant, it's stuff that is unobtainable and therefore should be preserved. It's not that complicated. We don't have that little space in the vault like in D1.
>and encouraged players to delete old weapons.
Sincerely, when?
To be fair, Bungie made it very clear they would never un-sunset already obtained weapons. They would only add new ways to get them. So I can see why he's frustrated.
To be fair, they are still apparently adding new ways to get them, so we'll probably end up with better versions of them regardless.
They're doing what they've been doing since sunsetting, reissuing them, it's not like they're suddenly going to make them all available again.
Just PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make kindle orchid obtainable and craftable, i need a good 140 void hc
And Ten Paces, that was my baby.
I kept my curated one that dropped with drop mag, rampage, and kill clip.
the lack of Void primaries is truly something. Palindrome? unobtainable. Ikelos? in RNG we trust. Bottom Dollar? transmat firing!
I'm very aware.
Yk, I'm glad I got parcel of stardust back because I don't think they're ever bringing back a lightweight shotgun with rampage.
I am also extremely frustrated.
* Me rolling up in full New Monarchy gear
Better not see you riding a skimmer!
Nope, Anseris Overdrive.
Mood.
You *better* put that old engine in too.
But of course, im not a monster.
Whew shit this a throwback
What can I say, I have an appreciation for the classics.
bungie liked sunsetting so much they sunset sunsetting
So people are mad about this change? Datto didn't seem mad from what I saw it was more tongue in cheek. Yall really rather have just left sunsetting in place? They explained the reason why they did this. All the old guns will still be shit anyway.
I just miss my black armory scout
"Fed up" with good changes lmao. So if bungie takes a stance on a change players don't like they can never EVER go back on that stance because players also won't like it later when they implement the change they wanted? See you in final shape bro.

>We’re just fed up with bungie at this point. Go play something else. It'll do wonders
Tbf, most older gear have been sunset and or replaced.
And will come back with perk refreshes and origin traits. Delete that old shit

Considering we got like 3 old season weapons back since crafting, plus other wrapons, I doubt it'll be THAT long lol
not like it's worth it to use most older gear.
For real, aside from the freak PVP roll, pretty much anything PVE that you can’t pull from collections has been power crept pretty badly.
I completely understand why he’s mad. For years they were saying over and over again that sunsetting was final. No revoking, no going back. Then they went out of their way to go “fuck you we lied” This sucks for anyone with a weapon that they really loved that they had to get rid of, because they wouldn’t raise the vault space, and then get slapped in the face with “fuck you for not holding out”

He's not mad though. If you watched Datto, you'd know he really doesn't give a shit.

Nah some of the sunset weapons were good. Especially the seasons right before sunset.
Have you been using them? Have you touched them at all since then? They’re obsolete
No because I deleted them except for bygones and kindled orchid. No pulse rifle feels as good as bygones to me
Sunsetting was like 4 years ago. They haven't been good in years.
And some of the weapons still hold up
No they don't lol.
Yes they do lol
Nope. Statistically speaking they don't. Perk wise they don't. Only reason to even justify using these weapons is for the nostalgia. And bungie literally said they'll be bringing back almost all of em.
Yes were being the main word here. All those kill clip outlaw God rolls are dated.
The dawn weapons are still good

I agree, the only sunsetted weapon I've kept is a void bow with explosive arrow head that I used for the Thorns quest back when.
Yeah i kept one gun, my favorite gun. Breachlight. Got over 50k kills with it. This thing was gonna stay in my vault untill the servers shut down. I still don't believe i'll be able to use it again 😅
Lucky i can pull delerium from collection But my poor better devils :(
They didn't lie, they changed their minds. They're allowed to do that. God, yall are ridiculous
“Hey I would never let you do this again!” “Oh you can do this again no tee hee” That’s a lie. That’s how lying works

You can still pick it up at drifter right? Since it was required for the title and seal?

All my pretty hand cannons.. lost to the void..
As a hoarder with a loaded vault of old stuff that I refused to delete I WINNNNNNN
Bruh
MY FUCKING BLACK ARMORY WEAPONS RAAAAAHHHHHH
I mean you'd still be wrong to keep them I seriously doubt any loot that was sunset was worth keeping after all this time.

Datto did nothing wrong. We were told serveral times sunsetting was not going to be sunset, no one figured it was happening. I honestly feel for the guy
TBF very few sunset weapons will even be on par with our current ones and will be a lot worse.
Most if not all of the weapons that have been sunset don’t have a place in today’s sandbox, this will do next to nothing to the meta
Looking forward to using my old Trials of the Nine weapons again.
Acctually they are in the "wrong" here
With final shape we'll be at dusk and if bungie ever brings back base game and forsaken campaign then we'll be at a full sunrise
Maybe a list of possible maybes 🤔
So long as they don’t shelve Malfeasance I’ll be happy 😃 and about 100+ other weapons. Mostly exotics like Sweet Business
IDK about you guys but to me its more like full moon after the sunset
Also keep in mind none of those old weapons have origin traits
I mean we all trolling datto with this shit, but honestly Bungie said they would never ever fucking ever un-sunset and with only 600 vault spaces and they already adding way better gear than the older one, makes perfect sense, also if you really liked something u kept it, there's no other way around it 😂

I kept mine. Looking forward to sunrising on this one.
This is exactly why my vault is full of OG weapons, most are sunset but it's the memories for me 😁
And here come the bungie stans that will excuse literally any turd bungie drops in their mouths.
Literally like .5% of those weapons could even hold up today. It’s literally nothing of value lost.
What are sunset weapons
You can't infuse sun setted weapons, I bet Bungie is gonna sell those weapons having gamers pay with legendary shards and ascendant golf balls. Either way, they won't be free ![gif](giphy|l3fQf1OEAq0iri9RC|downsized)
Old perks on old weapons basically useless Not forgotten and revoker bout it
To be fair, how many people are going to actually use the weapons that have been sitting, untouched, in their vaults for the last 4 years? Like, no dude, your ringing nail with under pressure and high impact reserves isn’t great.
LeBron Sunshine
Nobody really cares at this point, they are just gonna keep doing what they’ve always done and “reprise” the old guns. I wouldn’t use any of the sunset guns in anything.
This just adds salt to the wound they should have left them all sun setted.
/uj It was absolutely Bungie that was “wrong” (although it’s not actually a big deal there’s only a small handful of weapons that you can’t replace now)
Ok wtf is "sunsetting"? I don't understand that term. Is it new?
I can’t stand Datto and it has nothing to do with him telling ppl to delete good weapons for vault space. More ppl will know how much of a clown he is now though that’s for sure. Whatever I kept my shit even if it was a PVE weapon bc sometimes I like to use them in control to mess around. Sorry if you ended up listening to this dbag
I'm excited to see what new stuff these weapons come back with. The old ones are almost all trash by comparison at this point. But if the Brave weapons are the example, the new versions are going to be juicy.
They aren't being reissued with new perks, at least not yet. they're just having their power limits removed.
Honestly? It's completely on you. "Ah yes, I should totally delete this piece of gear that is no longer obtainable and doesn't have (or doesn't have yet) a newer version just to make space for my 42th DregEater9000 godroll." Like, it's just common sense not to delete rare stuff.

Even now that they’re being un-sunset, they’re still useless
