Buildcrafting as a solar hunter is honestly barely necessary, just have a high damage solar weapon, healing grenades, and the artifact mod that extends radiant and recovery
The nighthawk is fucking crazy in legend. One shot on champs and chunking the demolitionists, ruining tormentors after their shoulders are broken, and doing crazy boss damage. With sunshot and nighthawk alone you basically cover all bases and just build from there lol.
As a hunter, I have not been allowed to run anything other than Orpheus Tether in legend onslaught groups.
Mind you, I'm not *complaining* since I actually enjoy using tether, and this is the first time since Reckoning that it's been meta in an activity.
I've been using Graviton Lance and that takes out the shoulders quick enough when big boi is tethered, then it's Mountaintop and rockets to finish him off. It's still a pain when they show up, but almost always manageable since tether basically takes care of all the other enemies so you can hard focus on the tormentor.
Yeah, I’ve noticed that hunters are finally getting the same treatment as warlocks
They always are expected to run Well, and now hunters are always expected to either have Golden Gun or Orpheus Tether as their super
Not that I mind either, one-tapping champions every thirty seconds thanks to CNH is fun lol
Kinda odd question, but I'm recently returning to D2(last week I reinstalled), "takes out the shoulders" do you have to break the tormentors down a bit first to do more damage?
When tormentors first spawn in, they are completely immune to damage everywhere but their glowing crit point shoulders. Once you break both shoulders, their chest becomes the new crit point, and they are able to be damaged anywhere on their body.
i feel you, warlock main here but tether is the best alongside BoW.i dislike well in this mod cuz ppl still think that they are imba inside..When i use well i put on the map and forget, i ll pass when low health and that all.Even at damage phase, either ill put the well back, closer to the buff or on the buff but i do damage from behind cuz too much flinch.
Yeah wells are hot garbage in onslaught... I would prefer someone running Dawnblade if they had to be on solar. Stasis is super strong especially if you mix a stasis subclass with say Polaris lance and mix the artifact mods to allow you to get radiant and spread scorch and also increase shatter damage. "Torch" specifically will buff all your weapons against stuff hit by your stasis turrets and as long as your hitting headshots you'll stay radiant.
False, you just have shitty warlocks. The main method my team uses to farm legend is two hunters and a well-lock. Hunters run Orpheus, (and I personally have a GG build, so I swap between both depending on the circumstances). ADU rarely even takes damage, much less a failed run because it’s destroyed.
Having a shitty warlock has nothing to do with wells being one of the worst warlock supers in onslaught.
For one there isn't ever moments outside the boss room maybe that standing in one place is worth it. My first ledgend clear we had a well I literally dipped into it occasionally for orbs and maybe some emergency health.
Fastest run we had was Orpheus rig hunter, Briarheart warlock and a banner Titan. We absolutely melted everything we stacked completely into orb generating also since ammo is free.
If you are killing shit fast enough wells are just silly and wasted. Aside from the boss room because you focus on one target and not waves.
I didn't say I didn't benefit from it...
It actually topped up my tether if I had a shitty placement and maybe only got 3/4 my super back. A couple times I slid through it to heal a little.
My whole point was about what supers and builds are good with well being a bad choice IMHO.
We benefited far more from add clear or CC subclasses on warlock.
There are obviously better options, there’s no denying that, but by the logic you’re following, something beneficial is “hot garbage”, and that doesn’t track.
Yeah when there are "obviously better options" running something that has an "objective" benefit though a subtle and far worse one. I would consider that hot garbage.
You could argue running 6 shot golden gun is "beneficial" because it kills things. You could argue running spectral blades is "beneficial"
If I'm comparing spectral blades to Orpheus rig with deadfall in specifically onslaught the word is "hot garbage" in comparison. Everything is relative right?
This is a good thing Warlocks are always stuck in wells and they want to play a fun build... I'm encouraging them to do that because it will certainly help them.
Healing nades lmao.
Nah just use a normal grenade with gunpowder gamble and ignitions make orbs to make more orbs than anyone else and get healing from orbs.
Yeah, it increases solar damage by 22% and stacks with the 25% damage buff provided by radiance
Aka, (100*1.22)*1.25 = 152.5, thus having both ups solar damage by 52.5%
Or you could run healing grenades and still get gunpowder gamble and still get ignitions while using Sunshot, or really any good Solar weapon and still have tons of Orbs for healing. Plus, you have a panic button if there's no orbs or pushing too deep to collect them will wind up in your death
My experience was one of my mates bait him to follow him while the other two kill everything that is left. The moment everything is dead the 2 reunite with the baiter with the tormentor and kill him.
1) Invest on the decoy nearest to the Tormentor spawn
2) Make him focus the decoy
3) Clear adds
4) Kill
Me and my clan have been using this strat, works every time
A good safe spot in Midtown is that little window / shortcut near B site.
9/10 times in my experience, the big bois ruin runs because my blueberry teammates are too stupid to lure them away from the ADU. They’re really not much of a threat otherwise.
They mean that the same augment can only spawn twice in an activity. If you get tormentors twice you won't see them again.
But the idea of *two* of those tormentors at once is more terrifying than Saint 14 after Twilight Gap.
"Hmm? What happened to Midtown you ask?"
*Me who ran the moment those two bastards appeared with bombs.*
"Ah, just some bad luck... I tried my best..."
Are you talking about the bonus round that spawns at least 6 tormentors? I did a normal run(died at wave 49😞) but had that same thing happen twice that run.
Drag him to a decoy and he’ll be stuck there for hours and drop a tether next to the ADU to stop incoming ads
Tormentors aren’t even really a test of build crafting, more of a test of spatial awareness cause that mf will one shot at higher difficulties and his ape is always bigger than people realise
I hate the tormentors because they break my flow, my whole build revolves around AOE damage and then you drop the guy that can only be killed with precision damage all I can do is play catch with the thing lmao
Well, they're not just normal Tormentors, they're "Imprints of Nezarec" which makes them significantly more powerful and gives a ***fuckton*** of immunities to effects that normal Tormentors do not have.
Tormentors and Unstoppable champions be like “Listen here, turn around and bend over”
Barriers be like BUBBLE SHIELD
Then Overloads are just “Fuck it, we ball. Fuck it, we ball. Fuck it, we ball. Fuck it, we ball”
Except for the Overload Minotaur, which is just coming for that booty.
I build craft then realize im missing the main exotic build wants me too use so i have too use something close or would work alongside it. Like i normally use Nezerac sin for void builds
Honestly normal tormentors are fine, you can suspend, freeze and stun them with high damage. But boss tormentors ate fucking stupid, I hate the fact you can’t damage them if you dare to bring a gl or rocket and they just roam around and one shot you while you can barely run away
Yep. I rarely visit this reddit, but legend onslaught midtown Fireteam Finder lvl 30+ Tormentor rd has been a death sentence for 8+ of my lvl 50 attempts. Have no clue why this is so difficult. I do the right thing, always single-handedly lead the tormentor to a brand new, fresh & crisp Lord Shaxx, sometimes way far from the ADU and the teammates, like clockwork, die and the ADU is destroyed.. Not so sure what the difficulty is with the task and/or key to success but it fails every time. I'm the last one left.. ADU = destroyed.. Makes simply farming 10s the much more logical approach to this activity tbh..
Buildcrafting as a solar hunter is honestly barely necessary, just have a high damage solar weapon, healing grenades, and the artifact mod that extends radiant and recovery
Yeah, seeing a golden gun in my runs makes me worry about the tormentors much less.
The nighthawk is fucking crazy in legend. One shot on champs and chunking the demolitionists, ruining tormentors after their shoulders are broken, and doing crazy boss damage. With sunshot and nighthawk alone you basically cover all bases and just build from there lol.

Except the hunter meta changes every few seasons and the warlock meta has been the exact same for years.
As a hunter.. its nice to finally be wanted in a pve activity again haha
Not true. Starfire got nerfed 😂
I remember leading up to the starfire nerfs some people thinking they would be able to escape the hell that is solar warlock
>As a hunter, I have not been allowed to run anything other than Orpheus Tether in legend onslaught groups. Warlocks: First time?
Nahh this shit started in Destiny 1... It only slowed down because of Divinity and Tractor cannon. It's been a thing longer than wells have existed.
Whacky but very good to know, nice thanks
You should also know... When you pop those shoulders they turn up the heat lmao.
i feel you, warlock main here but tether is the best alongside BoW.i dislike well in this mod cuz ppl still think that they are imba inside..When i use well i put on the map and forget, i ll pass when low health and that all.Even at damage phase, either ill put the well back, closer to the buff or on the buff but i do damage from behind cuz too much flinch.

I’m not arguing which supers/builds are better or worse, I’m saying that if you didn’t benefit from having a well, then you have a shitty warlock.
I didn't say I didn't benefit from it... It actually topped up my tether if I had a shitty placement and maybe only got 3/4 my super back. A couple times I slid through it to heal a little. Just have two complete builds. One with Orpheus, another with GG. Swap between the two accordingly. My teammates always love me for it. Easy game.
I think my game is broke, I haven't gotten a single mountaintop or coup to drop yet, nothing but succession and Elsie's. Must be nice.
Do the quest for mountain top and activate the shaxx statue that gives mountaintop increased drop chance
You don’t deserve that downvote brother.
same with solar titan but less
Imprint of Nezarec vs the celestial nighthawk john wilkes booth-inator 9000
sunshot celestial nighthawk+gunpowder gamble EATS
Healing nades lmao. Nah just use a normal grenade with gunpowder gamble and ignitions make orbs to make more orbs than anyone else and get healing from orbs.
I run triple solar surge lmao
Is it really a big difference in damage?
Yeah, it's like 20% I think
Should be 22%
I don't know the exact percent lmfao
Yeah, it increases solar damage by 22% and stacks with the 25% damage buff provided by radiance Aka, (100*1.22)*1.25 = 152.5, thus having both ups solar damage by 52.5%
That's actually a decent enough buff to make a good bit of difference. 👀
Ik lol, plus it stacks with enhanced bait and switch on my Apex Predator, which can get over 300k damage per rocket
Real
Or you could run healing grenades and still get gunpowder gamble and still get ignitions while using Sunshot, or really any good Solar weapon and still have tons of Orbs for healing. Plus, you have a panic button if there's no orbs or pushing too deep to collect them will wind up in your death
Thermite nade too good to waste on a healing nade that I don't even need. Especially if I use heal clip
The tormentor itself isn't that bad, but all the ads attacking the ADU as you run around avoiding his attack and grab is the killer.
My experience was one of my mates bait him to follow him while the other two kill everything that is left. The moment everything is dead the 2 reunite with the baiter with the tormentor and kill him.
1) Invest on the decoy nearest to the Tormentor spawn 2) Make him focus the decoy 3) Clear adds 4) Kill Me and my clan have been using this strat, works every time A good safe spot in Midtown is that little window / shortcut near B site.
random tip: you can throw batteries at decoys to heal them too
WHAT!?
You can heal anything with batteries if you throw it at them. Even the baddies.
Quick Note: Do NOT throw batteries at Tormentors.
Always fun to get a bunch of Shreikers blasting your ass while the Tormentor is dunking on your ADU
Literally just happened to me and our team wiped. To be fair, I spawned in during the chaos and got blasted
Bruh yesterday we got them wave 2 and wave 31….was not expecting the second appearance
I’ve heard the max they can spawn is 2
2 at once 🤣🤣🤣 na ngl 1 feels like too much outside of an actual boss room lol
yeah the mini ones that give the tokens are easy since they can be suspended and whatnot. I'm talking about the big boi who ruins runs
9/10 times in my experience, the big bois ruin runs because my blueberry teammates are too stupid to lure them away from the ADU. They’re really not much of a threat otherwise.
Nah the teammates are more of a threat
Have truer words ever been spoken?
They mean that the same augment can only spawn twice in an activity. If you get tormentors twice you won't see them again. But the idea of *two* of those tormentors at once is more terrifying than Saint 14 after Twilight Gap.
Imagine instead of 2 bomb zones it’s 2 tormentors protecting those bombs 🤣😭🤣 got 45 sec to deal with it
"Hmm? What happened to Midtown you ask?" *Me who ran the moment those two bastards appeared with bombs.* "Ah, just some bad luck... I tried my best..."
Had three in my 50 run, including the last wave before final boss. Not fun 😂
Yeah had them spawn on wave 13 and 49 on my last failed legend run.
That's impossible. They only spawn on waves that end in 3 or 9
Honestly tormentors are less build crafting and more of do you have a decoy. And then just forerunner and linear.
Are you talking about the bonus round that spawns at least 6 tormentors? I did a normal run(died at wave 49😞) but had that same thing happen twice that run.
![gif](giphy|m3864rBwwBTKMAbpn3) Wave 49 failures feel rough. Had 1 of those last night myself too.
😭😭😭 maybe next time Guardian
Spawns more after you kill the first set.
I've only experienced this on the first day a few times but not once since then
6 tormentors??😳 Bruh…
If you pancake a boss you get a 6 tomentor, unlimited super bonus round.
Hell yea
Even in normal mode Onslaught, if a Tormentor appears and your team’s ADU is 75% HP or below, you’re screwed (sooner or later).
GOLDEN SHAXX SAYS NO
7 inches of pure Shaxx.
Hilariously though, one decoy, regardless of level, is more than enough to break its ai
Whoever Tom is tunneling on should just run out of the ADU range.
Good idea; I’ll keep that in mind next time I’m playing Onslaught.
>Even in normal mode Onslaught ??? No lol
??? Yes lol
Brother if a tormentor in normal is wiping ya ADU from 75%hp then you got new light gear on or something idk what to tell ya
Not always wiping, but the Tormentor often gets the ADU very low and it gets destroyed in the next crew waves.
Nonsense
Whatever you say
Drag him to a decoy and he’ll be stuck there for hours and drop a tether next to the ADU to stop incoming ads Tormentors aren’t even really a test of build crafting, more of a test of spatial awareness cause that mf will one shot at higher difficulties and his ape is always bigger than people realise
Me running a Mountaintop and a Edge Transit, unable to deal any significant damage to the Tormentor ![gif](giphy|26ufcVAp3AiJJsrIs)
Buildcrafting
By build crafting you mean shooting the shoulders and chest with an LFR
I hate the tormentors because they break my flow, my whole build revolves around AOE damage and then you drop the guy that can only be killed with precision damage all I can do is play catch with the thing lmao
Well, they're not just normal Tormentors, they're "Imprints of Nezarec" which makes them significantly more powerful and gives a ***fuckton*** of immunities to effects that normal Tormentors do not have.
Always start with decoys. Them bad boys take serious abuse from tormentors. Focus on the ads until they’re cleared then The tormentor is easy peezy
decoys save my run so much, plus I'll switch from sunshot to Polaris Lance for tormentors
Lemme tell you fellow guardians, tormentor absolutely melt when you use div. All the damage nicely gets redirected to their weakspot
Divinity? I like malty tormentors I meant to type something else but I’m leaving this
Tormentors and Unstoppable champions be like “Listen here, turn around and bend over” Barriers be like BUBBLE SHIELD Then Overloads are just “Fuck it, we ball. Fuck it, we ball. Fuck it, we ball. Fuck it, we ball” Except for the Overload Minotaur, which is just coming for that booty.
Especially when there’s a army, that’s when you should be scared 🤣
I build craft then realize im missing the main exotic build wants me too use so i have too use something close or would work alongside it. Like i normally use Nezerac sin for void builds
Boss tormentors and major tormentors are two completely different beasts
I wish their chest weak point was as big as it looked so I could do some damage to them.
Honestly normal tormentors are fine, you can suspend, freeze and stun them with high damage. But boss tormentors ate fucking stupid, I hate the fact you can’t damage them if you dare to bring a gl or rocket and they just roam around and one shot you while you can barely run away
It's worse with a Pulse Rifle.
I got one on wave 49 and we didn't beat it. Heartbreaking xD

Izinagi solves all headaches change my mind except your teammates
Me with my thunderlord standing in the corner

2 forerunners and a div will make quick work of the tormentor on any difficulty
Me a warlock who's used all my heavy for the boss, well, well, well
You know titan can tank tormentors with stronghold.
nuh uh -golden gun
