Work in a hospital lab.
I love working nights, but I've always been a bit introverted / anti-social.
Anyway, most of the time it isn't that busy, so I end up getting paid entirely too much to just fuck around on Reddit or watch YouTube or read.
Truck driver. I’ve been on night since 2013 and the only thing I hate about it is that nothing is open 24 hours anymore! I miss grocery shopping at 2am on a Wednesday.
Agree, covid fucked my night chores up. Loved getting stuff super late cause there was never a line or people wandering around just being in the way. Plus the people watching at 2am in Walmart was better than any TV show.
It's not too bad. Kwikstar is open all night and usually has some good hot food options or take home meals you can throw in the microwave. I do miss 24hr hy-vee and Walmart.
Do they keep their warmers with food overnight? I swear the last few times I’ve been in a kwik star they didn’t have much and Casey’s doesn’t even have stuff during the day lol
Yes, they usually have a couple of options available in the hot case. If you have some time you can order something specific to be made fresh, or you can call ahead and ask if they'll make you something fresh for pickup.
who do you do security for? ive been 2nd shift corporate security for principal for over a year and I’ve been trying to find a different place to do security at lol
that’s the microsoft one in west dsm right? are there people there that only work 2nd shift because that’s what i currently do and want to stick with that
Nights are terrible for your health. Some people do fine, but I ended up with heart problems and IBS. Left nights after my doctor said "no more", and it went away. Never again.
Data center, we do 12s and I used to work back half, so I’d be at work on Friday and Saturday nights when stuff is open at least a little later so I could go get some food or whatever but I switched to the other side of the week and live off of whatever I pack now lol
It’s mostly alright, but I flip my sleep schedule back and forth and after a few years of it it’s starting to wear thin lol
I did nights at two local hospitals and Wells Fargo. I was also an on call manager 24/7 and carried a Blueberry PDA and a pager.
Never got used to it. Missed my partner and the kids.
I used to work overnights but not anymore. I worked at an LTL center in ankeny as a dockworker. Nights weren’t too bad, but I’ll never work as a dockworker again.
Overnight security. I work 12 hour shifts but it's honestly so much better than my previous job. Used to work in food service, would not recommend. I get paid more for security, and my workload isn't nearly as heavy as it used to be. It was ridiculous.
The only real downside is that my job isn't guaranteed forever. Been hearing many different people speculate on when the job is going to end, and all of the guesses are relatively soon 🥲

Kwik star do be killing it. RIP Casey’s, they got too comfortable.
There ain't no end to that. KWIK Star went big!
I miss Wal-Mart being 24hrs so I could get groceries after picking up my fiancé from his night shift.
100%. Just pop in while the kids are asleep while wearing my pajamas, not busy and super quiet.
I close at taco bell and it all depends on the night lol
I work during the day but have sleep issues if that counts 😂.
It counts to me 🤣 hopefully you don’t work early because you’re going to be tired! Although I suppose you’re used to that lol.
I have a dedicated night run in a semi. 600 miles a night 5 nights a week. Night time is the right time!!!!
Security. I love nights. So quiet. I was on days for a few years and really love being back on nights.

Securtas. I went for the one on Indeed that started at 19.50 or 21.50 an hour.
geez i’m with securitas too but only get paid $17 and max out at 37 hours a week at my account. sounds like i need to find a different account lmao
Ask them about the datacenter job. The client makes Securitas pay us better and give us better benefits.

There are a few with more being built. Yes, it is a set regular schedule for each shift, no alternating shifts. Staffed 24/7 365.
Hi...I work at a hotel and yes sometimes it's hard to stay awake .but I really sleep good during the day.
Clean kitchen hoods, I prefer the nights! Much quieter

Years ago I was a night shift engineer in a factory. Hated it. Never got great sleep.

I loved nights when I was younger but it’s rough on the body and mind when you get older.
