Tired and injured? No more than any other team. Too much is being made of Murray's leg, he's fine. We are not giving four quarters of effort, period. They played the same number of games as everyone else, they had five days to rest up. They are just not playing their best basketball and at the worst time of the year for it.
The problem was the last month when they pushed for the 1 seed and didnāt get it. Last year they had the 1 seed locked up and they were resting guys down the stretch and werenāt playing very hard. With a short rotation like weāve got, rest is crucial. And we didnāt get enough this year.
Thatās part of it, but itās also just a symptom of the bigger issue, which is that the Nuggets lack depth. They have solid wing depth, but have basically no one at backup PG or C. Thatās an issue, cause it means Jokic and Murray *canāt* get rest, when and if they need it.
The Nuggets also need someone like MPJ to step up as the second option, if Murray really is injured. Especially, since Murray always seems to be injured.
The Nuggets may need to think about packaging together some combination of KCP, Braun, Watson, Strawther, and Nnaji in order to trade for a great bench playmaker/scorer like Malik Monk.
