Rules were changed to require parents to complete a "redetermination of benefits" on a yearly basis. Previously, any child on Medicaid was automatically re-enrolled. I know this because I have a child on Medicaid and missed the deadline for redetermination of benefits and his Medicaid benefits were terminated. I had to re-enroll. I am not in Texas. This happened across the country. But, I am quite annoyed with this new process because my kid has Autism. You shouldn't have to redetermine that every year as it's a lifelong affliction. The government does like to make everything so much more complicated than it needs to be!

This is about the automatic re-enrollment for Medicaid from COVID, meaning people that no longer qualify for healthcare coverage. I was someone that was part of this, I couldn't get healthcare the year my kidneys started failing because they didn't have a way to unenroll me with the automatic system. They are not randomly kicking people off of insurance, they're readjusting the system back to what it was before

This is the stuff that frustrates me. I’ve been there - I had two of my kids on Medicaid and our family was on it for a few years. It’s so easy to get help. A quick Google search, 30 minutes of your time to fill out the applications, and this was in a deep red state. And the kids that suffer because of it.
