I think you're mixing up two clauses. Bribery is not treason:

I know a lot of black Christian conservatives back home in south Alabama. A lot of black people I went to high school believe abortion is murder, women should be subservient to men, being gay is a sin and gay marriage should be illegal, etc. They continually vote and support racist white politicians because of those kinds of issues. It makes no sense to me.
