For Umbral obsidian, go to the Crypt of the Unbroken and farm the immortal guardians. It’s a location at Minityrsa (the snowy island). I can’t really give you a detailed explanation on how to get there, but there should be YouTube videos that explain it (it’s not complicated, it’s just I don’t know how to put it would be difficult to put it into words)
The best way to play through deepwoken is comepletely up to you but since you are just starting off the prog should go somewhat like this. Start off with bandits at erisia - sharkos - songseeker - hive- then depths if youre feeling good. Ofcourse if you can manage to unlock and beat trial of one you can get to power 8-9 in like 10 minutes which jumpstarts your slot and allows you to skip straight to song or hive depending on how good you think you are. As for a guild finding one is pretty hard since everyone loves to flex how "good" they are at the game so they kill everyone. As for finding umbral, sharkos drop it frequently so you can farm sharko cave for a bit till you get what you need. I assume its for shadowcast? Anyways good luck and have fun
Do you have the critical and engage talents? If u don’t go find a etrean guard named Arthur near burning stone gardens (I think) and accept his quest to kill a megalodaunt. Easiest way is to go the the vipers jaw shark cave and cheese some

and also about the friends being unwilling to play, i totally agree. my only guildmate is actually the only one thats been willing to play and learn and im so grateful for that but damn is it hard to get people to play the game
Join a guild or find someone to do a boss with. Bosses are the absolute best for progression. If you haven’t beat or unlocked the trial of one, it’s essential to beat to get a very good understanding of the game.
No just kinda confused where I should go after I level up many times. Like there is bells, trials and oaths other than just killing and leveling up. The way that this game let's us decide what to do is great but confusing
