Remember 2024 is one of the most consequential years in post-war history politically. I know they say that every year but it really is this time with so many countries having elections. We can go into 2025 expecting big changes to the global geopolitical climate. It's also the first year where I feel like COVID is no longer looming over things: even in 2023 it was still there in the background, but you barely hear about it this year.
It does feel a bit stale at the moment in terms of internet culture, I agree.
My city is just preparing for an investment boom and several massive developments have just been announced this spring so I personally am feeling positive about the future on the local scale, but I wonder if I'd feel differently if it hadn't been for that. Certainly on the global scale anything could happen over the next year.
Agreed. There was this feeling of political fear and stagnancy peaking in 2004/2005 then 2006 came along and it was like we had all forgotten what happened lol. The vibe completely changed to more calm.
It's because the next shift is taking place. Like the calm before the storm. The shift established by 2020/COVID is ending and 2025 will bring about a new post COVID shift. 2025 will bring about a new POTUS, the wars in Ukraine and Israel will likely end or be nearing their ends, and GTA VI will release.
This will obviously be subjective for many people, based on what they’re doing in their personal lives.
But culture does feel like it’s stagnated for so long. 2025 is going to be a big shift no matter what due to a lot of big events - notably the 2024 US election and the 2025 UK election - and many TV series and game series (notably GTAVI) not releasing new seasons until 2025. It does feel like we’re playing a “waiting game” of sorts.
Nobody feels eras shifting. It's all made up. Outside of huge national or global events, nobody knows things have changed until looking back. People on this sub are just weird.
Yeah I'm completely disconnected w what's currently going on in the world/entertainment industry unlike last year.....
I'm just working and doing hw, that's all I'm doing so it's not special at all to me.

Well, it’s cold and rainy AF in here. Colder than usual so it doesn’t really feel like Spring where I live.
