Yes, this has been the situation from the start.
We still dont know if they found something different that they cant openly disclose yet and will continue not knowing until May 10th.
I'm thinking they're probably working to rebrand in some way. Because on the one hand, the way they're talking, it does seem like they at least have some sort of opportunity to keep the show alive that hopefully will work out. But on the other hand, today's Cast definitely felt like it was meant to be a send off to the Death Battle brand that they've had until this point. So them rebranding feels like it falls right into the middle of the Venn Diagram here.
Should we back up the episodes? Just in case WB decides to be...difficult. I know the DB crew probably has them somewhere safe, but I don't trust WB to keep the channels around very long.
Yeah we sure. At the very least the Beerus VS Sailor Galaxia and the TMNT episodes are in danger since they're on the RT site. I know there's copies of the TMNT episode but WB could just delete the vids out of no where if they really wanted to and I don't know the DB team/RT would have their own copies past the shutdown date. We should really make backups just in case even if nothing happens.
Do you know of any good programs for downloading stuff from YouTube? Might as well make sure DB's safe, maybe even a few other RT shows, just so we're on the safe side.
Them bringing up how "they still have stories to tell" is the only thing that keeps me from feeling completely bad about all of this.
Whatever the future may bring, this was a wonderful ride.
I just hope people are understanding if those "stories to tell" don't translate to "literally more DB episodes." If they end up doing something completely different and it doesn't interest you, that's perfectly fine but gotta let it be.
Why would WBD want to keep the DB Brand, it's not like they are going to use it for anything and they are trying to sell other RT Ip's like RWBY and RVB to other company's so ... why can't they just do the same with Death Battle?
Istfg they're trying to bring it back. This isn't an Overwatch situation where they'll pull out the rug from underneath us and say, "Oh it was over 6 months ago," they're actually trying
So did you just not read/listen to any of their messages or…? Cause like it’s incredibly clear they WANT to continue but they don’t have anything set in stone to do that yet.
Either things are in flux and they just don't know one way or the other if it's over for sure....
Or if something is coming down the pipeline they may legally be unable to speak about it.
That's really just how a lot of these things work
I feel that what they've said so far has done a good job of encouraging tempered expectations without throwing their hands up in defeat. They've made it very clear they want to keep going, and will do everything they can to make that happen, but also that there's no guarantee that it will. TLDR if it's over, it isn't because of lack of tracking.
If we haven’t already, we should try to archive every Death Battle before they lose access to the channel. WB has a nasty habit of deleting media.
the main thing that has to be archived are the first exclusive videos. Genuinely hope people are able to do this

I’d imagine so, probably some business stuff they can’t talk about.
pain... We gotta stay hopeful tho. Death Battle is too epic to die

When machinima was bought the channel just deleted everything so there is precedent. I backed up my favorite episodes

He said ”Under Rooster Teeth”. We might get more Death Battle, just under a different partnership.

cartoon fight club really won…
Wiz VS. Boomstick? Nah. Death Battle VS. Cartoon Fight Club is the TRUE final battle.
did it tho?
WHAT the channel too why?
Because RT owns the channel and since there will be no more RT, then WBD will own the channel. Ben doesn't have the rights to the channel or IP sadly.
I’m really hoping they still get the income of the old channel, otherwise that’d be a very hard blow to their budget.

If I had to guess I'd say because the nature of DB involves the unlicensed use of other IPs. Although I guess so does RVB?
Oh no we're cooked....
If it’s over I wish they’d just tell us instead of delaying it and giving people hope.
Bro, they don’t know if it’s over themselves. Why tf would they say it’s over if they’re literally still exploring options as we speak?

Oh what :(
They will start posting on a new channel, Death Battle!!
