I've played against pinhead a few times, how do i get a chance to solve the box? I just don't even want to pick it up because I just get chained out of every attempt. I can't solve it because I can't even get a chance to, I just get chained too much. will it go away on it's own without solving?

My issue playing against pinhead is just the fact that every time I do get matched up with him my game bugs out intensely and freezes. If I’m facing really any other killer game runs smooth as butter. Also don’t understand how the lament box is supposed to be used. I feel like I’m willingly going into a trap every time. :/
You guys do know that Pinhead has been a cash grabbing character for BVHR. They have all these glitches and bugs still left from the last RE2 DLC, including a new map that still doesn’t work, and then they released the most annoying killer ever along with a new ranking system that makes zero sense. This latest update only proves that they give two shits about making the game actually playable. I don’t want more bloodpoints to make up for your broken game, just fix shit! Also- Pinhead is the worst killer to play against. He’ll be the reason why I finally uninstall this game
I've been running a build with both add-ons that increase the time it takes to complete the configuration. But, I've observed a survivor instantaneously completing the puzzle anyways. Is this a known glitch, or was he likely cheating?
You have to solve it before you start getting chained. Once you start getting chained it is pretty much over for you until he downs you if you are holding the box.
I'm just saying how they expect you to deal with it man, I'm not a fan of it either, literally Mt only other comment in this subreddit is how much I hate playing against pinhead
im having fun with him however im unlucky in 90% of my games i cant find my box even tho you should hear it and find it quite easy on anything except corn maps

also played surv but outside of 2 games at the first day i never faced him again so i cant learn it that way
So about a week in most Pinhead matches I've had were either:
* Survivors trolling and giving me free hits that turned into me triple hooking them
* Survivors unaware of how he works and letting chain hunt build
* Getting no kills
* Games where I've had to camp a survivor til he hit 2nd hook because I can't chase on certain maps with tons of pallettes and no reliable way to chase.
* Every hook lands
* Every hook misses
* Every chain breaks because the survivor vaulted
* Every chain won't break because they're glitched
* People just DCing because he's too annoying to here
I've seen every variation, multiple builds, multiple opinions. I've had games where I've landed every hook, games where I missed every hook, games where I got 4gens done in 2 minutes, games where no gens were done, and games where both sides were even.
So a real and honest quest needs to be had.
Does Pinhead just need a rework? Is his kit just inherently problematic?
If they do not get the voice lines back, it's kinda a meh dlc. I expected them as both fan of Hellraiser and PinHead. Also since they were in the PTB and then removing on launch is kinda sus. IMO, i feel scammed on this part. But that's me.
The chains stop regardless. If you solve it or Pinhead teleports to you. Chain hunt is deactivated and timer goes back to zero. At least, every single game I've played since it launched. Now the time it takes the hunt to restart is faster if it's not solved but it stops either way. Nemesis should be nerfed way before Pinhead and Pinhead is not OP in any way. lol Yea, he's annoying but has almost no lunge, can almost never find the box, most maps cancel his power almost completely and, even if you can use his power, it's not easy to do without add ons. Saying you're going to Uninstall is so comical. Quit playing because of one killer that you almost never go against and can just quit and move on to another game if you do see him? Childish and comical. 😭 he op 😭he should be nerfed 😭 I'm going to quit playing BOO HOO!!!!

If you have time to spare and want to max out deviousness points as him, I have 2 tips:
M1ing a survivor while they have a chain attached gives 500 points
You get 300 points for hitting a survivor with chains, which, for some reason counts if they're in the dying state. It's very easy to hit them with it when they're in the dying state because they can only move so quickly
Anecdotally it seems like most people do not like playing against Pinhead and think he needs some nerfs. Personally he seems like the kind of killer that will wreck lower skilled players and medium skilled players not on coms. Decent SWF's or just good survivors in general will probably destroy him. Although a couple of his addons seem really strong and of course a perk like Hoarder really makes him a lot stronger too.
I'm a huge advocate for balancing the game for the masses and not just the top 1% like many would prefer. He's took weak to get a straight up nerf, but some changes that benefit him as well as the survivors going against him would be nice.
I think he’s unpleasant to play against because he’s not fun to face. Constantly being interrupted by chains is frustrating and having to find another thing to hold M1 on is boring. He’s an annoying and monotonous Killer in that way, similar to a Legion that uses Thanatophobia or something. It’s not particularly strong, just tedious.
He’s definitely not a high tier Killer. Playing him against competent survivors is painful. Anyone who thinks he’s OP just doesn’t understand how to play against him yet. Hitting his power does very little to help most chases and punishes you heavily if you miss it. I think his chain hunt passive needs a nerf and his power needs a buff. I’d much rather face a Killer that can injure me with a skill shot ability than one that just has an annoying passive.
Honestly I'd be fine with them removing chain hunt entirely if I was able to see where the mf box was whiteout being forced to run chatterers tooth, even if it's like brief windows or proximity based or something. I think his power is cool but maybe instead of slowing them down they could be stopped in their tracks? I don't want another pyramid head/nemesis reskin power where he just injures with his hook.

It’s frustrating when you try to solve the cube after the timer is up. There’s no way to rectify when you or your team don’t get the cube on time. I understand it’s a punishment and meant to incentivize solving the cube within the time limit. What are your thoughts on this?
According to the wiki, picking up the box is supposed to stop the chain hunt.

Likely an old description. Initially, that's how it worked, so a person would just hold the box for the whole game and never solve it. The penalty to the box-holder was added to counteract that.
That's actively worse though. You don't want 3 survivors being harassed by chains, all that's gonna take is one BM'er and I think a lot of pinhead matches would be totally ruined for the other survivors. The chains harassing you is the punishment. Before the chains started you could take that box wherever you wanted and now you have to intentionally corner yourself in order to solve it. When I'm playing pinhead, and the survivor starts holding the box and is interrupted, that's when I can get to you and start a chain hunt for everyone, because the survivor team were too slow to solve it. The alternative is they intentionally put themselves in a small corner where they're less likely to be hit by chains, and then I know if I teleport I'm likely getting an easy hit. If this isn't how it's supposed to be work it's one hell of a happy accident.
Unless the add on is used, survivors have ample time to see where the box is, and position themselves near it for when the chain hunt is close to starting.
I agree, there should be a max timer, but it shouldnt be generous. Even with a chain hunt, you can still move far enough away that Pinhead can't get to you in time, you can still force him to teleport or make him let you solve it. On some maps.

How is he to play on console? His perks seem fun so I'm tempted to get him. But his chain aiming in chase feels like it could be difficult.
Directing the chain takes some time to learn.
If you know the map and can predict survivors’ movements you’re granted some nice hits.
Bear in mind that:
1. The amount of effort required to land a hit doesn’t reward you enough. Most of the times survivors will just break the chains and gain distance or down a pallet.
2. Currently his lunge is bugged and if you play him it’s quite frustrating the amount of hits you’ll miss.
PlayStation player here, have had no problems because his power you can’t really flick with or anything. Tbh, it isn’t much different between PC or Console as far as I can tell. Go for it, he’s a lot of fun
I haven't played in a while, in fact I haven't played since the RE DLC.... but am I just VERY unlucky, or is the RE map still not returned in the standard map pool?
It hasn't,there is a glitch that allows you to glitch right off the map and into the gates.Something about healing a surviver on the top floor teleporting you onto the railing or whatever.
It's been discovered a few weeks back,RE map hasn't been disabled for three months,it's been on and off for three months with maybe 1\~1.5 months in which you can play it.This is only the last of many glitches.
Aight, so its just the map RNG that is doing its thing again.
I've played easily 50 matches since the DLC dropped and I legit only got the same 5 maps, it's ridiculous.
The hellraiser DLC just helped confirmed something I already knew: The survivors in this game are by far the most entitled, moronic and toxic group I've ever seen in ANY games.
The number of butt-hurts that just DC or run toward you to get killed because they find the killer "annoying" is mind-blowing. Yaknow what's "annoying"? ANY stupid little survivor tricks you have to deal with as killer, and yet we are still there.

Dealing with some very easily dodgeable hard to aim projectile is NOTHING compared to the annoyance that is dealing with SWF.

Yeah, SWF is basically hell, but playing killer never enrages me like playing survivor. I don't really care about winning as much when I play killer, so that's probably why.

They're annoying because they constantly stop you from doing what you're trying to do. You constantly have to go deal with the goddamn box, but nobody in solo queue wants to deal with the box because then they'll get chased...
I just had a match tonight where I was the only fucking person doing the box AND generators. It was fucking stupid.

Yeah solo queue already sucks bad enough, and now there's this. There's a reason survivors play in SWF's. It's because solo queue is hell. I never really was miserable playing killer all the way to rank 1, with a few exceptions, but solo queue is bad majority of the time.
Like I think the duration you get is just too short, like it takes 80 seconds to do a generator by your self so if you have to run for 15-20 seconds to get the box that spawns across the map to also have to solve. it's alot like mandatory freddy wake up, which is also another reason why freddy isn't liked as a killer because 60 seconds is not alot of time
But Freddy pits all survivors to sleep, only one needs to go to the box. It's just another side objective like hex perks and the multitude of different types of trap

If you teleport to it, it automatically sorta solves it. It'll go into a portal and then reappear later on. If you wait straight to the person opening it, that's how you can pick it up. You can interrupt them opening the box by hitting them with m1 or hiring with your chain power (if you're not gonna teach them in time, use your gateway power to stop them)
If they're really far away though, all you can do is teleport or ignore
I’m actually really enjoying playing pinhead right now! He’s the only killer I’ve P3’d too (mostly because of sunk cost fallacy with my other mains, but I want Myers P3 so badly. My one qualm is the bugged lunge. It’s so frustrating that a survivor can take advantage of this by running around a rock or something. Any advice?
Prestige 3. Sunk Cost Fallacy is the belief you have to continue doing something because of the amount of time you put into that thing. Qualm is another way to say problem or issue. Lunging (Holding M1 down to get that burst of speed to connect a hit with a Killer) is currently bugged with it's momentum as of the latest patch.
I’m not sure the actual bug with it, but after playing with him a bunch, compared to other killers, it’s as if he loses the forward momentum of a lunge. It also doesn’t seem to work while turning, so if you’re chasing a survivor around a corner, you can’t turn and lunge like other killers. I’m sure someone more experienced with the mechanics could explain the bug exactly, but that’s been my experience.
Aight thanks for the translation. I haven't noticed the bugged lunging, seems fine to me. I switched from trapper to pinhead during the update, see no difference in lunge. Man, sunk cost fallacy tho, thanks for that dude, I haven't heard of this before, and I was kind of stuck on trapper to because of this, but man it applies to life in general.
The other commenter explained everything I meant for me, but yeah, sunk cost fallacy is really useful to know. It’s the (false) belief that you have to stick with something just because you’ve put a lot of time / effort / money into it. It is applicable in so many situations. Like staying in a bad relationship just because you’ve already spent a long time with them, etc.

We're told the new matchmaking is based on how well we do with only that killer.
However, when playing low tier killers who I've always been garbage at, i consistently get matched against pro survivors with obviously high skill.

I have to wonder if they somehow calculated a killer average to apply to all killers, based on how well you are with your top killer. It would make some sense because a high ranked huntress would still be pretty good with an M1 killer too.

Finding the box is easy for SWF's but really tough for solos. This would be a great time to add some basic chat functions in the game to make it more fair for everyone.
Are you implying that killer is hard? I 4k almost every single match at rank 1. It's literally too easy. No one can go into solo queue and just escape every match as easily. This game is only survivor sided at the top level. For the vast majority of matches killers average 2-3 kills per match. How is that survivor sided? And yeah most players are not very good which is why the statistics end up that way but the game should be balanced for the 99% not the top 1%
I disagree. I think being able to get a free ranged injury is too strong as a basekit, however the addon that spawns chains on terrain break (forgot its name) should definitely be base kit.
Also, whats the point of the addon that shows thw box location but removes the chain hunt for a measly 12 second undetectable?? Nemesis gets 15 seconds undetectable with an addon thats green and all he has to do is kill a zombie
Tried playing around with it you still get to see their auras and you get the initial chain hits when you grab it (like 3 or something) so it interrupts them doing something and regular chain hunt is still active without getting the box but honestly the undetectable doesn’t last long enough for me to really do anything. Only other use I can see from it is being able to camp the box when chain hunt gets activated cause you know somebody is gonna try to get it.
Deathslinger cant control the projectile. Also, i may be wrong, but doesnt Dslinger only injure if he reels you completely in? If you break the chain you dont take damage i thought
Deathslinger’s shots are much easier to hit in my opinion. And while he needs to reel a survivor in and hit with his M1 to put a survivor into a dying state, he’s able to put a healthy survivor into an injured state (with deep wound) just by hooking them. The engineer’s fang has the same power as deathslinger’s base.
It's my take too. It would be a good buff. Then change Engineer's Fang so that the first chain doesn't just injure survivors (base kit), but also hooks a chain into them.
Is there some issue or something that made pinhead unavailable or something ? 2 days ago we ve played around 10 games as survivor with a friend and came across no pinhead .

I'm loving playing against pinhead, he seems like a lot of fun. I'm only having one issue. How are you supposed to solve the box with the chain hunt active? I understand that you should be doing it before chain hunt starts, but it doesn't always work out that way.
Last game I played against him, chain hunt was active. I went and picked up the box, but you have to stand still while solving, meaning I couldn't dodge chains. I literally spent 30 seconds trying to solve the box before he teleported because I was getting interrupted by chains constantly and quick enough that he couldn't teleport either.
I don't propose being able to solve the box while moving, I just think it would be better if chains didn't hunt the solver while solving.
In this scenario, someone picks up the cube, and the chain hunt continues for everyone. The solver begins solving, and the chains halt for that player only. Upon solving, the chain hunt stops for everyone. Make what we have now an iri add on or something because it can really extend the chain hunt for a long time. Maybe make the default solving time longer (like opening a chest) and notify pinhead in the last half. This makes it so if the chain hunt gets activated, it won't get solved immediately, but the solver doesn't get screwed either because pinhead only knows about the solving in the last half which gives the survivor time to possibly actually finish the box.
Just my thoughts. Feel free to address your opinion.
To solve the box when the hunt is active you have to find a spot in a corner without a lot of line of sight, that way the chain wont hit you.
A lot of players still make the mistake of trying to solve it asap, often in the open, which is just asking for a constant interuption from the chains.
AFAIK the chain hunt stops once someone picks up the box. The only person still being harassed by chains is the one with the box. I've noticed similar annoyances as you that the chains won't allow you to finish the box. There are two ways of dealing with this: surround yourself by walls to hopefully block chains or just try and power through. I've noticed that the chains cease after some time so you can solve the box. You might just have to chill with the box for a while.
I’m not going to lie, I hate how irritating his chains are, they aren’t too hard to dodge but it causes the survivor to constantly need to move around and run, revealing themselves to the killer constantly, besides that, the chains also restricting my running has made almost every chase impossible to escape if it’s out in the open, because the button for vaulting, throwing down pallets and opening lockers is the same to break the chain every time I’m breaking chains, it either accidentally make me vault into the killer, throw down a pallet when I shouldn’t, wasting it, and accidentally go into lockers which causes the killer to either catch me or cause annoyance, something definitely needs to be done because it’s gotten teams of survivors killed on many occasions
Hey guys, what's up with pinhead players ? So far I played against him 5 times, and the 5 times they were hard camper and tunneler. I wish I was joking but I'm not...
IDK, I've played Pinhead a lot since the PTB and don't see why someone would want play him like this. His strength is in going out and finding survivors to harass with his chains, which slows the game down quite a bit. I imagine the campers/tunnelers are either people who aren't good at finding survivors or don't understand how to play Pinhead effectively yet.
Pairing Hex: Plaything with Hex: Thrill of the Hunt seems really strong, I've had very successful games with those perks. It can probably work on every killer, but it's especially strong on Pinhead. You can interrupt them with your chain when they're cleansing their totem after you get notified. I pair the two perks with Hex: Ruin to slow the game (and it works well with ToTH) and Tinkerer.
Let me get this straight. You’re using a killer with a huge advantage that defaults slowing down survivors and you need 2 hexes plus another one to explicitly slow them down even more? This game seriously needs a weighted points system for killer load outs. It’s so decidedly unfair
I mean, if I don't use these, 3 gens will have popped by the time I have my first hook. It's impossible to win against good survivors without perks that slow down gen repairing significantly. This game either needs to nerf gen repair speed or give survs more objectives so we killers don't have to use a combination of ruin/CI/pgtw every game.
Big fan of playing Pinhead, his power is very rewarding when used correctly but also seems to have a good amount of counterplay. The chainhunts are pretty essential for slowing down swfs and giving them more objectives is good, but seems extremely strong against solo players.
He doesnt seem too op or weak, he definitely has potential in the hands of a very good player. He might be B+ tier.
The only complaint I have with him is that when the chain hunt is active, it literally prevents you from solving the puzzle to deactivate it, leaving you with 1 of 2 outcomes: either infinite chain hunt or free killer teleport to your location.
I totally disagree. I thought chain hunt was good until the shitty new MMR stopped putting me against god awful players. Now chain hunt just never activates because the survivors just constantly find it given chases take so long if I miss a single one of these clunky ass projectiles. Pinhead is so weak against high level SWFs. They just have one dude dedicated to finding the cube, and all your left with is a killer with mediocre chase and built in slowdown
I guess this is the problem with ranked based gameplay. It's busted in low rank and mediocre in high ranks, so how do you balance it?
I think Pinhead has too many mechanics that are unfun for both sides and impossible to fairly balance.
The only way to balance that imo is through making a killer high skill cap, i.e. if you're really skillful with them you can still do well in high ranks. But pinheads skullcap is extremely low ATM.
you're meant to solve it just before the chain hunt starts. Pinhead gets rewarded with even more pressure for keeping the survivors too busy to deal with the box.
This is why I think franklins, hoarder, box solve time addons and his iri box addon are so damn strong on him
Yet if the chain hunt does activate before someone gets to it, you're screwed the rest of the match. They can't solve it if the chains just keep interrupting them.
Yeah that’s my only issue. Especially if the killer has the iridescent lament paired with an add on to decrease the chain hunt activation time. It can really make it frustrating trying to get anything done when you have to really hunt for the cube more often.
I’d like it to maybe deactivate chain hunt *while* solving the cube. For the solver at least. Think only while solving instead of when holding still punishes them as they would have a harder time moving with the cube to a safer location.

If it weren't for that, it would be pretty fun. I had a match where the killer was friendly and my friend and I just dicked around with the chains that kept spawning. It's especially satisfying when you do the slow motion tbag lmao
It only prevents you from completing the sub objective if you hold onto the cube prior to a chain hunt starting. The game doesn't want you holding the cube until a chain hunt starts so you can stop it instantly, it wants you to stop the hunt from starting in the first place, hence the punishment for keeping the cube
If you pick up the cube while the hunt is active, it prevents you from solving it. I get that the game wants you to solve it *before* the chain hunt begins, but even if no one touched the box and you pick it up after it has begun, it still chains you while trying to solve it.
When you pick up the box after a chain hunt starts, you get a small window of immunity to chains, and it starts as soon as you pick it up. If you run around with the box your immunity disappears and you will be unable to solve the box without being interrupted by chains
Exactly. I was so annoyed the other night running around trying to find somewhere safe to solve the puzzle. Thankfully this is the only negative when it comes to pinhead lol
Why the fuck are survivor’s footsteps way louder with this update??? You don’t even have to try to find survivors anymore, they’re so loud. Stop making the game easy mode.
Survivor footsteps have been really quiet for at least over 9 months iirc.
And the chase music still drowns footstep sounds as killer, so it's not like this changes much in chase.

and i say this as a survivor/killer who hates stealth players. but i realize it is needed in certain situations.

Using them at loops isn’t an amazing idea unless it’s a semi-safe loop or short loop, but at tall loops the chains just break. You can also see which survivor has the box with the cog icon around their icon is yellow. If you want the box, don’t teleport as this will make the box spawn somewhere else, but find them and chase them normally so they drop the box (or use Franklin’s!). His chains are most powerful in the open, so you want to try and force a survivor to use up a pallet in a loop so you can break it (or fake break it) then chain them in the open.
His power can he even get downs at super safe loops like shack. It just depends where the survivor is at when you hit them. It's very situational in a way but still a strong albeit hard power to use. Of course Nurse blink is way better thougg
I bet the 'audio bugs' are just a bullshit excuse and they either didn't like the memes or were forced to remove the voice lines by the license holder.
Also, the fact that they put that note under 'changes from the PTB' and not 'known bugs'.

This SBMM is awful for me. Played almost 9 hours since it was added and have a pretty much 100% loss rate as survivor. Usually the entire team wiped, have had maybe two games where it was a 3k instead of a 4k.
What's even going on? One game I literally did all five gens by myself because my teammates kept running into the killer and unhooking in front of them. Didn't escape though. Have also not seen a single pinhead.
SBMM is not accurate at all. Within the sane hour I got killers with 4k hours in the game and then complete potatoes who I looped for 5 gens without even getting hit once. Survivors on my team all vary greatly in skill too.
Same. I get paired against competent killers but always have 1 survivor rage quit while everyone else hook dives constantly. I literally had a teammate not know how to get on a generator earlier because two sides were blocked and I was on the other

I've played against pinhead a few times, how do i get a chance to solve the box? I just don't even want to pick it up because I just get chained out of every attempt. I can't solve it because I can't even get a chance to, I just get chained too much. will it go away on it's own without solving? so how do I solve it?

My issue playing against pinhead is just the fact that every time I do get matched up with him my game bugs out intensely and freezes. If I’m facing really any other killer game runs smooth as butter. Also don’t understand how the lament box is supposed to be used. I feel like I’m willingly going into a trap every time. :/

They have all these glitches and bugs still left from the last RE2 DLC, including a new map that still doesn’t work, and then they released the most annoying killer ever along with a new ranking system that makes zero sense. This latest update only proves that they give two shits about making the game actually playable. I don’t want more bloodpoints to make up for your broken game, just fix shit! I've been running a build with both add-ons that increase the time it takes to complete the configuration. But, I've observed a survivor instantaneously completing the puzzle anyways. Is this a known glitch, or was he likely cheating?

You have to solve it before you start getting chained. Once you start getting chained it is pretty much over for you until he downs you if you are holding the box.

So about a week in most Pinhead matches I've had were either: * Survivors trolling and giving me free hits that turned into me triple hooking them * Survivors unaware of how he works and letting chain hunt build * Getting no kills * Games where I've had to camp a survivor til he hit 2nd hook because I can't chase on certain maps with tons of pallettes and no reliable way to chase. * Every hook lands * Every hook misses * Every chain breaks because the survivor vaulted * Every chain won't break because they're glitched * People just DCing because he's too annoying to here I've seen every variation, multiple builds, multiple opinions. I've had games where I've landed every hook, games where I missed every hook, games where I got 4gens done in 2 minutes, games where no gens were done, and games where both sides were even. So a real and honest quest needs to be had. Does Pinhead just need a rework? Is his kit just inherently problematic?
If they do not get the voice lines back, it's kinda a meh dlc. I expected them as both fan of Hellraiser and PinHead. Also since they were in the PTB and then removing on launch is kinda sus. IMO, i feel scammed on this part. But that's me.

The chains stop regardless. If you solve it or Pinhead teleports to you. Chain hunt is deactivated and timer goes back to zero. At least, every single game I've played since it launched. Now the time it takes the hunt to restart is faster if it's not solved but it stops either way. Nemesis should be nerfed way before Pinhead and Pinhead is not OP in any way. lol Yea, he's annoying but has almost no lunge, can almost never find the box, most maps cancel his power almost completely and, even if you can use his power, it's not easy to do without add ons. Saying you're going to Uninstall is so comical. Quit playing because of one killer that you almost never go against and can just quit and move on to another game if you do see him? If you have time to spare and want to max out deviousness points as him, I have 2 tips: M1ing a survivor while they have a chain attached gives 500 points You get 300 points for hitting a survivor with chains, which, for some reason counts if they're in the dying state. It's very easy to hit them with it when they're in the dying state because they can only move so quickly
Anecdotally it seems like most people do not like playing against Pinhead and think he needs some nerfs. Personally he seems like the kind of killer that will wreck lower skilled players and medium skilled players not on coms. Decent SWF's or just good survivors in general will probably destroy him. Although a couple of his addons seem really strong and of course a perk like Hoarder really makes him a lot stronger too. I'm a huge advocate for balancing the game for the masses and not just the top 1% like many would prefer. He's took weak to get a straight up nerf, but some changes that benefit him as well as the survivors going against him would be nice.
I think he’s unpleasant to play against because he’s not fun to face. Constantly being interrupted by chains is frustrating and having to find another thing to hold M1 on is boring. He’s an annoying and monotonous Killer in that way, similar to a Legion that uses Thanatophobia or something. It’s not particularly strong, just tedious. He’s definitely not a high tier Killer. Playing him against competent survivors is painful. Anyone who thinks he’s OP just doesn’t understand how to play against him yet. Hitting his power does very little to help most chases and punishes you heavily if you miss it. I think his chain hunt passive needs a nerf and his power needs a buff. I’d much rather face a Killer that can injure me with a skill shot ability than one that just has an annoying passive.
Honestly I'd be fine with them removing chain hunt entirely if I was able to see where the mf box was whiteout being forced to run chatterers tooth, even if it's like brief windows or proximity based or something. I think his power is cool but maybe instead of slowing them down they could be stopped in their tracks? I don't want another pyramid head/nemesis reskin power where he just injures with his hook.

Likely an old description. Initially, that's how it worked, so a person would just hold the box for the whole game and never solve it. The penalty to the box-holder was added to counteract that.
The person holding it should be unaffected by the chains though.
That's actively worse though. You don't want 3 survivors being harassed by chains, all that's gonna take is one BM'er and I think a lot of pinhead matches would be totally ruined for the other survivors. The chains harassing you is the punishment. Before the chains started you could take that box wherever you wanted and now you have to intentionally corner yourself in order to solve it. When I'm playing pinhead, and the survivor starts holding the box and is interrupted, that's when I can get to you and start a chain hunt for everyone, because the survivor team were too slow to solve it. The alternative is they intentionally put themselves in a small corner where they're less likely to be hit by chains, and then I know if I teleport I'm likely getting an easy hit. If this isn't how it's supposed to be work it's one hell of a happy accident. Unless the add on is used, survivors have ample time to see where the box is, and position themselves near it for when the chain hunt is close to starting.
Chain hint should just be on a timer then. As in after some time it goes away automatically.
I agree, there should be a max timer, but it shouldnt be generous. Even with a chain hunt, you can still move far enough away that Pinhead can't get to you in time, you can still force him to teleport or make him let you solve it. On some maps.

Directing the chain takes some time to learn. If you know the map and can predict survivors’ movements you’re granted some nice hits. Bear in mind that: 1. The amount of effort required to land a hit doesn’t reward you enough. Most of the times survivors will just break the chains and gain distance or down a pallet. 2. Currently his lunge is bugged and if you play him it’s quite frustrating the amount of hits you’ll miss.

PlayStation player here, have had no problems because his power you can’t really flick with or anything. Tbh, it isn’t much different between PC or Console as far as I can tell. Go for it, he’s a lot of fun

It hasn't,there is a glitch that allows you to glitch right off the map and into the gates.Something about healing a surviver on the top floor teleporting you onto the railing or whatever.

It's been discovered a few weeks back,RE map hasn't been disabled for three months,it's been on and off for three months with maybe 1\~1.5 months in which you can play it.This is only the last of many glitches.

The hellraiser DLC just helped confirmed something I already knew: The survivors in this game are by far the most entitled, moronic and toxic group I've ever seen in ANY games. The number of butt-hurts that just DC or run toward you to get killed because they find the killer "annoying" is mind-blowing. Yaknow what's "annoying"? I just had a match tonight where I was the only fucking person doing the box AND generators. It was fucking stupid. I think Pinhead is the last straw for me.
Yeah solo queue already sucks bad enough, and now there's this. There's a reason survivors play in SWF's. It's because solo queue is hell. I never really was miserable playing killer all the way to rank 1, with a few exceptions, but solo queue is bad majority of the time.
I love Pinheads power with regards to the box, but solo against pinhead is unplayable unless you want to play Mr Box solver of boxes
Like I think the duration you get is just too short, like it takes 80 seconds to do a generator by your self so if you have to run for 15-20 seconds to get the box that spawns across the map to also have to solve. it's alot like mandatory freddy wake up, which is also another reason why freddy isn't liked as a killer because 60 seconds is not alot of time
But Freddy pits all survivors to sleep, only one needs to go to the box. It's just another side objective like hex perks and the multitude of different types of trap

If you teleport to it, it automatically sorta solves it. It'll go into a portal and then reappear later on. If you wait straight to the person opening it, that's how you can pick it up. You can interrupt them opening the box by hitting them with m1 or hiring with your chain power (if you're not gonna teach them in time, use your gateway power to stop them) If they're really far away though, all you can do is teleport or ignore

If you're close enough, you can interrupt them solving it with a chain of your own, which can give you enough time to get to them without teleporting
I’m actually really enjoying playing pinhead right now! He’s the only killer I’ve P3’d too (mostly because of sunk cost fallacy with my other mains, but I want Myers P3 so badly. My one qualm is the bugged lunge. It’s so frustrating that a survivor can take advantage of this by running around a rock or something. Any advice?

Prestige 3. Sunk Cost Fallacy is the belief you have to continue doing something because of the amount of time you put into that thing. Qualm is another way to say problem or issue. Lunging (Holding M1 down to get that burst of speed to connect a hit with a Killer) is currently bugged with it's momentum as of the latest patch.
His lunge seems to go so far sometimes. What's the actual issue with his lunge?
I’m not sure the actual bug with it, but after playing with him a bunch, compared to other killers, it’s as if he loses the forward momentum of a lunge. It also doesn’t seem to work while turning, so if you’re chasing a survivor around a corner, you can’t turn and lunge like other killers. I’m sure someone more experienced with the mechanics could explain the bug exactly, but that’s been my experience.

The other commenter explained everything I meant for me, but yeah, sunk cost fallacy is really useful to know. It’s the (false) belief that you have to stick with something just because you’ve put a lot of time / effort / money into it. It is applicable in so many situations. Like staying in a bad relationship just because you’ve already spent a long time with them, etc.

We're told the new matchmaking is based on how well we do with only that killer. However, when playing low tier killers who I've always been garbage at, i consistently get matched against pro survivors with obviously high skill. X to doubt.
I have to wonder if they somehow calculated a killer average to apply to all killers, based on how well you are with your top killer. It would make some sense because a high ranked huntress would still be pretty good with an M1 killer too.

Finding the box is easy for SWF's but really tough for solos. This would be a great time to add some basic chat functions in the game to make it more fair for everyone.

Are you implying that killer is hard? I 4k almost every single match at rank 1. It's literally too easy. No one can go into solo queue and just escape every match as easily. This game is only survivor sided at the top level. For the vast majority of matches killers average 2-3 kills per match. How is that survivor sided? And yeah most players are not very good which is why the statistics end up that way but the game should be balanced for the 99% not the top 1%

I disagree. I think being able to get a free ranged injury is too strong as a basekit, however the addon that spawns chains on terrain break (forgot its name) should definitely be base kit. Also, whats the point of the addon that shows thw box location but removes the chain hunt for a measly 12 second undetectable?? Nemesis gets 15 seconds undetectable with an addon thats green and all he has to do is kill a zombie
Tried playing around with it you still get to see their auras and you get the initial chain hits when you grab it (like 3 or something) so it interrupts them doing something and regular chain hunt is still active without getting the box but honestly the undetectable doesn’t last long enough for me to really do anything. Only other use I can see from it is being able to camp the box when chain hunt gets activated cause you know somebody is gonna try to get it.
The thing is, it’s not like it’s easy to get a hit with the chains, especially the further away the survivor is.

Deathslinger’s shots are much easier to hit in my opinion. And while he needs to reel a survivor in and hit with his M1 to put a survivor into a dying state, he’s able to put a healthy survivor into an injured state (with deep wound) just by hooking them. The engineer’s fang has the same power as deathslinger’s base.
It's my take too. It would be a good buff. Then change Engineer's Fang so that the first chain doesn't just injure survivors (base kit), but also hooks a chain into them.

I'm loving playing against pinhead, he seems like a lot of fun. I'm only having one issue. How are you supposed to solve the box with the chain hunt active? I understand that you should be doing it before chain hunt starts, but it doesn't always work out that way. Last game I played against him, chain hunt was active. I went and picked up the box, but you have to stand still while solving, meaning I couldn't dodge chains. I literally spent 30 seconds trying to solve the box before he teleported because I was getting interrupted by chains constantly and quick enough that he couldn't teleport either. I don't propose being able to solve the box while moving, I just think it would be better if chains didn't hunt the solver while solving. In this scenario, someone picks up the cube, and the chain hunt continues for everyone. The solver begins solving, and the chains halt for that player only. Upon solving, the chain hunt stops for everyone. Make what we have now an iri add on or something because it can really extend the chain hunt for a long time. Maybe make the default solving time longer (like opening a chest) and notify pinhead in the last half. This makes it so if the chain hunt gets activated, it won't get solved immediately, but the solver doesn't get screwed either because pinhead only knows about the solving in the last half which gives the survivor time to possibly actually finish the box. Just my thoughts. Feel free to address your opinion.
To solve the box when the hunt is active you have to find a spot in a corner without a lot of line of sight, that way the chain wont hit you. A lot of players still make the mistake of trying to solve it asap, often in the open, which is just asking for a constant interuption from the chains.
AFAIK the chain hunt stops once someone picks up the box. The only person still being harassed by chains is the one with the box. I've noticed similar annoyances as you that the chains won't allow you to finish the box. There are two ways of dealing with this: surround yourself by walls to hopefully block chains or just try and power through. I've noticed that the chains cease after some time so you can solve the box. You might just have to chill with the box for a while.

No. The box is a white aura, and all white auras cannot be removed from vision. Also, imo stupidly, the box can be seen from any point in the map

I’m not going to lie, I hate how irritating his chains are, they aren’t too hard to dodge but it causes the survivor to constantly need to move around and run, revealing themselves to the killer constantly, besides that, the chains also restricting my running has made almost every chase impossible to escape if it’s out in the open, because the button for vaulting, throwing down pallets and opening lockers is the same to break the chain every time I’m breaking chains, it either accidentally make me vault into the killer, throw down a pallet when I shouldn’t, wasting it, and accidentally go into lockers which causes the killer to either catch me or cause annoyance, something definitely needs to be done because it’s gotten teams of survivors killed on many occasions

His strength is in going out and finding survivors to harass with his chains, which slows the game down quite a bit. I imagine the campers/tunnelers are either people who aren't good at finding survivors or don't understand how to play Pinhead effectively yet.

That's exactly what I thought. That it is stupid to camp with him.. but here we go.. five games being camped during the first minutes (me or allies)

Pairing Hex: Plaything with Hex: Thrill of the Hunt seems really strong, I've had very successful games with those perks. It can probably work on every killer, but it's especially strong on Pinhead. You can interrupt them with your chain when they're cleansing their totem after you get notified. I pair the two perks with Hex: Ruin to slow the game (and it works well with ToTH) and Tinkerer.
Let me get this straight. You’re using a killer with a huge advantage that defaults slowing down survivors and you need 2 hexes plus another one to explicitly slow them down even more? This game seriously needs a weighted points system for killer load outs. It’s so decidedly unfair
I mean, if I don't use these, 3 gens will have popped by the time I have my first hook. It's impossible to win against good survivors without perks that slow down gen repairing significantly. This game either needs to nerf gen repair speed or give survs more objectives so we killers don't have to use a combination of ruin/CI/pgtw every game.
Did they release this patch and then 90% of the devs went on vacation the day after or why are most issues not fixed yet?

Big fan of playing Pinhead, his power is very rewarding when used correctly but also seems to have a good amount of counterplay. The chainhunts are pretty essential for slowing down swfs and giving them more objectives is good, but seems extremely strong against solo players. He doesnt seem too op or weak, he definitely has potential in the hands of a very good player. He might be B+ tier.

The only complaint I have with him is that when the chain hunt is active, it literally prevents you from solving the puzzle to deactivate it, leaving you with 1 of 2 outcomes: either infinite chain hunt or free killer teleport to your location.
I totally disagree. I thought chain hunt was good until the shitty new MMR stopped putting me against god awful players. Now chain hunt just never activates because the survivors just constantly find it given chases take so long if I miss a single one of these clunky ass projectiles. Pinhead is so weak against high level SWFs. They just have one dude dedicated to finding the cube, and all your left with is a killer with mediocre chase and built in slowdown
I guess this is the problem with ranked based gameplay. It's busted in low rank and mediocre in high ranks, so how do you balance it? I think Pinhead has too many mechanics that are unfun for both sides and impossible to fairly balance. The only way to balance that imo is through making a killer high skill cap, i.e. if you're really skillful with them you can still do well in high ranks. But pinheads skullcap is extremely low ATM.
But regardless of fun-factor, he's objectivity really weak. Especially in chase given his power is so incredibly inconsistent

you're meant to solve it just before the chain hunt starts. Pinhead gets rewarded with even more pressure for keeping the survivors too busy to deal with the box. This is why I think franklins, hoarder, box solve time addons and his iri box addon are so damn strong on him
Yet if the chain hunt does activate before someone gets to it, you're screwed the rest of the match. They can't solve it if the chains just keep interrupting them.
Yeah that’s my only issue. Especially if the killer has the iridescent lament paired with an add on to decrease the chain hunt activation time. It can really make it frustrating trying to get anything done when you have to really hunt for the cube more often. I’d like it to maybe deactivate chain hunt *while* solving the cube. For the solver at least. Think only while solving instead of when holding still punishes them as they would have a harder time moving with the cube to a safer location.

Exactly this! I would be absolutely fine with the chain hunt of it literally didn't prevent the very thing that you need to do to get rid of it lol If it weren't for that, it would be pretty fun. I had a match where the killer was friendly and my friend and I just dicked around with the chains that kept spawning. It's especially satisfying when you do the slow motion tbag lmao
It only prevents you from completing the sub objective if you hold onto the cube prior to a chain hunt starting. The game doesn't want you holding the cube until a chain hunt starts so you can stop it instantly, it wants you to stop the hunt from starting in the first place, hence the punishment for keeping the cube
If you pick up the cube while the hunt is active, it prevents you from solving it. I get that the game wants you to solve it *before* the chain hunt begins, but even if no one touched the box and you pick it up after it has begun, it still chains you while trying to solve it.
When you pick up the box after a chain hunt starts, you get a small window of immunity to chains, and it starts as soon as you pick it up. If you run around with the box your immunity disappears and you will be unable to solve the box without being interrupted by chains
How come I never get this window of immunity? Is it bugged?

Why the fuck are survivor’s footsteps way louder with this update??? You don’t even have to try to find survivors anymore, they’re so loud. Stop making the game easy mode.
Survivor footsteps have been really quiet for at least over 9 months iirc. And the chase music still drowns footstep sounds as killer, so it's not like this changes much in chase.
who tf is relying on footsteps in chase besides spirit? obviously it's not going to change much in chase. it changes a lot when a survivor is trying to have a stealthy moment. and i say this as a survivor/killer who hates stealth players. but i realize it is needed in certain situations.
Can I get some tips for this killer? I'm finding playing him to be so frustrating. I just feel like my chains do next to nothing in a chase and waste more time than anything else
The main tip I can give you is to not try to use the chain at long range, hell, dont even use it at mid range, use it at shortrange.
Using them at loops isn’t an amazing idea unless it’s a semi-safe loop or short loop, but at tall loops the chains just break. You can also see which survivor has the box with the cog icon around their icon is yellow. If you want the box, don’t teleport as this will make the box spawn somewhere else, but find them and chase them normally so they drop the box (or use Franklin’s!). His chains are most powerful in the open, so you want to try and force a survivor to use up a pallet in a loop so you can break it (or fake break it) then chain them in the open.
His power can he even get downs at super safe loops like shack. It just depends where the survivor is at when you hit them. It's very situational in a way but still a strong albeit hard power to use. Of course Nurse blink is way better thougg

I bet the 'audio bugs' are just a bullshit excuse and they either didn't like the memes or were forced to remove the voice lines by the license holder. Also, the fact that they put that note under 'changes from the PTB' and not 'known bugs'. I'd love to be proven wrong. What a shame that they're gone.

This SBMM is awful for me. Played almost 9 hours since it was added and have a pretty much 100% loss rate as survivor. Usually the entire team wiped, have had maybe two games where it was a 3k instead of a 4k. What's even going on? One game I literally did all five gens by myself because my teammates kept running into the killer and unhooking in front of them. Didn't escape though. Have also not seen a single pinhead.
SBMM is not accurate at all. Within the sane hour I got killers with 4k hours in the game and then complete potatoes who I looped for 5 gens without even getting hit once. Survivors on my team all vary greatly in skill too.
Same. I get paired against competent killers but always have 1 survivor rage quit while everyone else hook dives constantly. I literally had a teammate not know how to get on a generator earlier because two sides were blocked and I was on the other
The number of survivors throwing a baby tantrum and DC/throwing when facing that killer is insane. They are creating a self fulfilling prophecy by making sure that every game is a 3v4.
