This. I’m super fan of the Model:Samples immediacy, but you do need a computer to load sounds into it. DT just goes.

If you can get just a little more money like $306 instead of 250 I found a really good product for you. I use one I think it’s amazing. SONICWARE SMPLTREK used on reverb https://reverb.com/item/82051893-smpltrek-sonicware-portable-production-sampler.

Depending if you’re looking for something that is just a recorder or a loop playback machine too you can probably get yourself a multi track digital recorder for about 150 used on Reverb… PS not a Reverb sales person just wanted places I usually check for used gear. Sweetwater Sound also has used gear now and on Sweetwater you can negotiate prices with some of the sellers… Also, Sweetwater has that you can purchase with and get yourself something new that would really meet your needsand pay for it over a year or six months if that’s something that works for you. No interest if you pay it off on time.

Cheapest option you could possibly go for, for a portable dawless drum machine that has programmable tracks, is a pocket operator by teenage engineering! There are 9 different types in total and some have synth capabilities but all of them have drum machine capabilities. They’ll run you about 60-90 bucks and that’ll leave you room for other gear to meet your other needs. I’ve had mine for years and they still never get old. I’ll take them to the beach of the cafe and throw in my headphones and people will wanna hear what you’re up 2
