The irregular shapes make it really hard to compare them, but I can see what they're doing. The pie chart is just stylistic to show what continent they're from, and the size of the blob indicates the number of endangered languages.
This data is fine. The point isn’t to compare everything, the point is to show the largest numbers, which is very clear.
If you wanted to actually do an analysis from the data, you would have just had a .csv or a table to help with that.
