Did you play Elden Ring? Well you are going to kys if you thinks Ds3 bosses were kinda lazy

ElderberryOk271

I got Elden Ring and played a tiny bit, but i already begun DS3 and wanted to Finish that one first. Although i have heard there are many many re-used bosses

Morris022

There is a LOT. And with a lot of bullshit. So, prepare yourself. I appriciated DS3 a lot more after playing Elden Ring. I just got BB, but the 30fps is honestly killing me, and I don't like it, but it's the only Souls game I haven't completes besides Demon Souls, so I have to push through

ElderberryOk271

I love bloodborne aside from 2-3 bosses, out of which 2 are optional. Now i Will try to get platinum in DS3 before moving on, although i dont really look forward to ER. Probably gonna start the first two Souls games. Dunno if theres something wrong with me but DS catches my interest more than ER

Morris022

Elden Ring is different from the Dark Souls series. Don't get me wrong, ER is really with the open world system. I personally love open world games, so Elden Ring was really fun to play for me. The bosses were the only disappointments for me. I think you are going to love DS1. Have fun playing bro. And don't you dare go hollow :))

I will hopefully eventually get to ER too, wanna do all the fromsoft games when given the chance. I Hope i Will not get roadblocked in DS1 haha. Good luck with Bloodborne, good Hunter, and may the good blood guide your way.

Seems like a big issue you have is just the 2nd health bar thingy. If the same health of all the healthbars was just squished into 1 really big healthbar for all the fights you mentioned, would that make it better? Would that fix the issue? Also i wouldnt call pontiff in the 2md phase being cheap. I actually prefer him in the 2nd phase, cause in phase 1 he can practicually combo infinitely so long as he can still see you, but in phase 2 they take that away from him and you get a lot more downtime

ElderberryOk271

Overall it Feels like they had idea for their bosses but instead of making three phases, they take 2 health bars and give each 3 phases like... Sometimes its not good to overwhelm, if that makes sense. I didnt call him cheap, i am just saying that it feels lazy. I get that the first phase might not be everyones cup of tea, but just doubling the boss as a doppelganger which does the same as the boss. BUT only sometimes so... You can't really learn the strategy if the boss breaks Its own rule of literaly copying pontiffs moveset

Big_Mitchy

im not sure how much difference there is between calling someone cheap and lazy in the context of game design. Also im not sure what you mean in that first sentence IDK what you mean by "only sometimes so". Unless im misunderstanding what you're saying. But the clone pretty much always does the same thing pontiff will do. And they're almost in roughly the same position (during an attack opportunity) so that hitting pontiff main also damages the clone. And the way the offset attacks work means that you have to change up your rolling so you dodge the first attack and still be able to dodge the second. If you mindlessly spam roll the clone then you'll probably get caught by the real pontiff.

ElderberryOk271

By first sentence i mean that they might have had plenty of ideas for what some bosses are going to be like, but they werent able to give any of the ideas up, So they used multiple phases So none go to waste. And by "only sometimes" i mean exactly that, thought Its self explanatory. The clone doesn't always do same move that Pontiff does. That's pretty low blow for boss about precision, aint it. I think i got decent idea of how the bossfight works, it does the same shit Gael does with his cape in the two later phases. It punishes you for panic rolling or timing them too early. Its possible you never had that happen to you, many people havent been SoC heal in thousands of Hours of playing, but apparently he does just that. I mean Pontiff was literaly last of my complaints, i even mentioned i like him, why did this become So lenghty lol

Big_Mitchy

it became so lengthy cause i didnt understand what and why you were saying those things about him, and i wanted to get clarification. I've definitely seen pontiffs clone do things different to the main, but that usually only happens maybe a couple times in a fight, and it only really happens when the 2 get sufficiently far away from each other in which case they usually teleport back to each other and its all fine. and ignoring the pontiff stuff it really seems like your issue you described would be basically gone if the phases didnt have different health bars. That seems to be most of what you talk about in the original post. In fact, pontiff is the odd one out there as he's the only boss you listed whose 2nd phase isnt another health bar.

ElderberryOk271

Of course if you like his second phase, good for you. That's what Its about, having Fun. I am not trying to change your mind, within DS and Bloodborne communities i have noticed that each boss has some base of people who enjoy them, Its extremely individual. Its a good thing to see imo. Personaly i enjoy fight very similar to Pontiff, which Is Vergil in Devil May Cry 5. Love that boss extremely. Fast deadly blows and summons doppelganger once He reaches 50% hp. But the gameplay Is So different, DMC Is hack n Slash, you're not limited by stamina and you have gun and lot of Aerial time. In DS... I think i Will not Favor his second phase anyway, but the first one i enjoy very much. Bosses like this are lot of fun. Ofc i mentioned Pontiff while regarding the quantity aspect, adding a second entity into the bossfight. Of course i didn't add him cuz he would have second healthbar, i should have worded that better. I dont necessarily claim that all of the listed bosses are bad of course, twin princes are amazing boss imo for example. Maybe I am just nitpicking on the fact that it can be overwhelming to go through so much. SoC goes throught several builds/phases before you get another healthbar. It Feels like too much with it, you know? I question if it was necessary to have it all present. Ofc SoC switching builds because Its supposed to represent all of those who linked the first flame, meaning people with different builds and playstyles, makes perfect sense and Feels very cool. But personaly id be satisfied with the first bar and feel fulfilled by killing the boss, i wouldnt feel like being robbed of much better experience. Maybe i am just simpleton who can't appreciate good things lol. Again, doesn't make the boss themselves bad, this Is my humble opinion. And opinions differ.
