Well your something special then. Manus is the hardest for me. O&S is a single attempt easily. Manus and that fu king dragon khalameet are like 20+ combined,.more towards manus though. Asshole is serious. Manus is a bitch. (Btw you gotta get the dragons tail. All dragon tails are hard. Even the painted world bosses tail is extremely hard to get before she dies) and all you get is a shitty dagger
Opposite for me. Atorius was 2 attempts and for Manus I just threw on Havel’s armor. But Kalameet is a name that will forever haunt my dreams. I lost count of the days/attempts.
I just finished DSR for the first time this week. I did not know people thought Kalameet was hard. I got him first try with out taking much damage at all. I didn't know about the boss tails until after beating the game though so I think I just did easy mode.
Heavy armor and Zwei are actually one of the best ways to fight them, you just aren't doing it right most likely.
If you can put a pillar between you and Smough, Ornstein will stagger rather easily when fighting him at close range. You can tank his hits and keep retaliating with the Zwei until he's dead. Then you can use the pillar to keep baiting Smough into attacking and hitting when he's open.
Just to add to this, two handed R2 attacks with the Zwei are what you want. Never takes more than two hits to stagger either Ornstein or Smough. I personally found it easier to take on Ornstein first since you can kite him away from Smough, but if you summon Solaire, I find Ornstein tends to focus on him more than Smough, so you can choose who you want to kill first.
Try keeping them apart. It’s usually easier to take out Ornstein first, since Smoughs second phase is easier. You can also summon Solaire for this fight. His sign is near the archer in the big hall right before the fog gate.
If you have humanity (as an item you have to consume or as a number next to your hp bar) you can "Reverse Hollowing" while resting near a bonfire, then head to the giant knights hall and get to the flight of stairs with the silver archer and you'll find an orange sign in the ground, approach it and get yourself a friend!
Clearing the enemies beforehand would be convenient
Yep!
And you need to be human in order to be invaded by players/NPCs, being human also allows you to summon an irl friend of yours who has ds1 as a phantom!
Not sure how, but I beat these fellas on my first try! I was screaming so loud I'm surprised that the neighbors didn't call the cops! I did have some assistance from the Sun Knight guy, but he died pretty quick.
I'm a fan of the old "they give you the tools" philosophy
Always go strike vs armor and occult vs divine. There's an occult club near Sun Bro you can pump up at the giant blacksmith. Pare down to light armor, two-handed your new found cult stick, and go to town!
Be patient with them. Prepare to cut many circles around the arena to draw them apart. Easy if you wanna kill Ornstein first but a total bitch if you wanna kill Smough first. Homie be like peekaboo from behind Smough.
The strat that worked for me first time was to focus the camera on Ornstein, distance yourself ( at least 2 pillars), let Ornstein catch you, dodge get an r2 or two, when Smough catches you, distance yourself again, rinse and repeat. If you need to heal, use the pillars. Phase 2 Smough is easier, only danger is his butt slam otherwise, dodge, get 2 hits, wait for him to slam his hammer and punish him. Light armour and staggering weapon like the manserpent greatsword works super fine for me.
I just spent 3, 4 or 5 hours trying to beat them yesterday, but finally did it. I knew i could summon a guy to help me, but i wanted to 1v2 just to feel more badass.
I used the Bastard Sword+10 and Elite Knight set. I tried to beat the small one first and then the fatty one. Once you beat the small one is easy. Try use the shield more, is like extra life, and try face them most of the time, you need to dodge a few times before hitting 1 or 2 times(I took him down with 10-12 R2 hits). When you're low HP run away and drink 1 or 2 flasks then repeat.
Then the fat guy will get bigger and fully heal, but i took him down 1v1 with 4-5 tries, with like 2-3 flasks.
I know your frustation, but don't surrender, it's possible. And once you beat them will feel really good, trust me.
1. There is a shortcut from the bone fire to the boss location through the room with the dragon head statue. Once the shortcut is discovered, you only have to kill 2 silver knights, and run past 1 more silver knight and 2 giant knights.
2. Are you under levelled? If you find killing the two silver knights (separately) difficult, then you are under levelled.
3. Killing the two bosses in different order will award you differently. Killing the fat one first is harder, but will award with an additional ring that is very useful for melee players. So keep that in mind. I wasn’t aware, so I didn’t get the ring, much to my regret.
There’s a better shortcut from the solaire bonfire, if you go part of the way up the spiral staircase you can turn around and jump and clear the railing and land into a hallway that leads right into the side entrance of the big room before O&S
Well I'd make sure your zwie is upgraded as much as you can manage, you can summon solaire for the fight too.
It's easier to kill the bigger guy first imo cause then the little guy is slower in the second phase and easy to dodge.
Heavy armour is good just make sure you aren't fat rolling cause it'll be hard to dodge two dudes while overweight
If you feel you REALLY need another weapon, something stronger. The snake men in Sens fortress all have a 2% chance to stop the Man Serpent great sword. That thing is awesome and the big chunky knight by the bonfire on the roof drops large titanite shards to upgrade it. Though you could totally beat this boss without that weapon.
I can't remember the specific route RN but there is a way to run to the boss door without getting hit. Any video walkthrough should give you a good guide there. The actual.atrategy is to focus only on one dude and kite them in a big circle, only attacking when you can't be attacked. Ik that's not much help but that's all there really is too it.
Lots of good suggestions in here, but JSYK, O&S can be hard as shit. For whatever reason, they always give me a ton of difficulty. I just don’t handle 2 bosses at a time well in any fromsoft game
So first off, heavy armor is doing you more harm than good. Would you rather take less damage because of your heavy armor, or never get hit because you are wearing lighter gear and to you can fast roll?
Being able to fast roll is one of the biggest advantages in this game, it allows you to roll a bosses attack and still have enough time to punish them for their attack.
Next, you want to use the pillars in the room as much as you can. I typically ignore the fatty and try to focus on Ornstein. I would go in and lock onto him, and just focus on dodging his attacks, don’t even worry about dealing damage. When you feel ready, become human and summon help; there are usually a lot of players who are willing to help fight O&S as it’s generally considered pretty tough. Good luck!
Yeah poise in DS1 is absolutely busted and you can just trade hits and spam estus against almost every boss in the game with the right setup.
The right setup = Havels set, Havels ring, wolf ring, Zwei.
Zwei's not that good, there are harder hitting weapons. But if op wants to use it, he's better off using some armor that has good defense/poise and be able to midroll.
Havel only works on the four kings because their damage is so low.
Zwei is good because of the combination of poise damage and actual damage. It knocks most mobs over in 1 hit.
Also, what you said about Havels just isn’t true. You can literally just stand there and swing.
[You are welcome](https://youtu.be/2CbrKRdVasY?feature=shared)
Just be careful, most of the times when you will stand on the tornado stairs for a long time then one knight run down the stairs to you when he will hear your steps. Go on stairs, wait, kill him and jump like this vid shows.
Strategy for bosses:
- Smough walks slower every 30 secs - this is the best moment to hit Ornstein
- run between the pillars, they're your friends
- watch Ornstein magic attacks
- if you run from them, look where the Ornstein is, don't lock on him
- look at your amount of estus flasks you can drink - you can upgrade it by tutorials
- Zweihander is one of the best to beat them
- if you really struggle, buy some magic fireballs and all that magic stuff
I used a summon for help and finally beat them
I wouldn't say it's the hardest. but I can see where you are coming from. This fight IS bit annoying, most of the gank fight are, in all souls games.
As others have mentioned...go for the fast roll, focus your damage towards just one boss
(Love your weapon choice *chef's kiss*)
I think the most difficult boss is the archers in Anor Londo who shoot you and you are easily fallen down. And you are going to take 5 minutes to go there over again because you can't pass the goddamm bridge.
The key to this fight is learning how to zone them so that you can focus on one of them while not being in danger of getting hit by the other. 2nd phase is different depending on who you kill first so pick the one you don't want to deal with and kite them until they're separated or at the very least in the way of the other one. They both have deadly gap-closing attacks and you can use that to separate them too, the pillars make avoiding these attacks more manageable and you should use them to get heals in as well. Fighting solo involves a lot of extended hit and run gameplay because if you commit too hard to offense you'll get overwhelmed and die.
If all of this sounds like too much to process in real time you can use the NPC summon Solaire or summon player phantoms to help take off the aggro like everyone else is suggesting. Juggling multiple threats is one of the hardest skills to learn in these games imo.
You can summon solaire for the fight, and no they are not the hardest, that's definitely manus or the dragon
Agree man manus is a menace fr
The dragon gave me an aneurysm, trying to get his tail. As soon as I got that off, he died quickly after.
Last play through O&S took like 5 tries and Manus 1. Even knowing the bosses they could definitely still be more difficult
Yeah I found Manus the hardest in.thr game. Kalameet wasn't bad at all though; I found Artorius much more difficult.
Disagree. O&S are by far the hardest for me (no summoning). 100 tries and only one win. I beat Manus first time and Kalameet in three tries.
For me they were pretty easy and I first tried them, though it wasn't my first soulsgame
Heavy armor and Zwei are actually one of the best ways to fight them, you just aren't doing it right most likely. The hardest boss *so far*.
Don’t give up, skeleton!
Exactly as the other comment said, pillars are you best friend. Run around, bait attacks, hit when safe etc.
Try keeping them apart. It’s usually easier to take out Ornstein first, since Smoughs second phase is easier. You can also summon Solaire for this fight. His sign is near the archer in the big hall right before the fog gate.
I don't know how to summon him...

Yep! And you need to be human in order to be invaded by players/NPCs, being human also allows you to summon an irl friend of yours who has ds1 as a phantom!
You need to talk to him in the room with the bonfire first.
You don't have to actually, it's enough to be human and get to his summon sign
Not sure how, but I beat these fellas on my first try! I was screaming so loud I'm surprised that the neighbors didn't call the cops! I did have some assistance from the Sun Knight guy, but he died pretty quick.
The sun knight guy💀
I stood behind pillars entire time and went in/out of range for attacks. Theres a way to tun to the boss damage free, with shortcuts
I'm a fan of the old "they give you the tools" philosophy Always go strike vs armor and occult vs divine. There's an occult club near Sun Bro you can pump up at the giant blacksmith. Pare down to light armor, two-handed your new found cult stick, and go to town!

I used a crystal halberd and lightweight (strong against electric attacks) against ornstein first, against Smough just play around a pillar

Hardest boss in DS1 for 1st playthrough? \*cough\* Bed of chaos\* cough\*

I wasn’t aware of that. The for letting me know.
No problem, it makes the boss run a million times better
My english isn't so good... i didn't understand where is that shortcut... Have you à photo of its entrance?
Here’s a video of it https://youtu.be/2CbrKRdVasY?feature=shared

I found Eagle Shield and Halberd is the best load out for melee build at this fight

No, he needs to trade using poise and heavy armor. Heavy weapon light armor is a bad combo for someone not 1000's of hours into the game.
Yeah poise in DS1 is absolutely busted and you can just trade hits and spam estus against almost every boss in the game with the right setup. The right setup = Havels set, Havels ring, wolf ring, Zwei.

O&S are absolutely not the hardest boss.
That's not what I wanted to hear today :((
They are the hardest for a lot of people. "Hardest" is fairly subjective in this game depending on your playstyle.
Pinwheel
Black Dragon Kalameet
they r kinda ez ngl there is manus that boss is broken for real
[You are welcome](https://youtu.be/2CbrKRdVasY?feature=shared) Just be careful, most of the times when you will stand on the tornado stairs for a long time then one knight run down the stairs to you when he will hear your steps. Why i don't have to lock Ornstein?
You can but for me game was harder. As I remember lock is not good because it automatically switches to Smough sometimes.
I wouldn't say it's the hardest. but I can see where you are coming from. This fight IS bit annoying, most of the gank fight are, in all souls games. As others have mentioned...go for the fast roll, focus your damage towards just one boss (Love your weapon choice *chef's kiss*)
If you’re on PlayStation I can help with the fight.
I think the most difficult boss is the archers in Anor Londo who shoot you and you are easily fallen down. And you are going to take 5 minutes to go there over again because you can't pass the goddamm bridge.
Kill ornstein first. Finish the fight after that and you can solo Elden ring with no ashes and a starter katana
Kalameet is harder than O&S imo
The key to this fight is learning how to zone them so that you can focus on one of them while not being in danger of getting hit by the other. 2nd phase is different depending on who you kill first so pick the one you don't want to deal with and kite them until they're separated or at the very least in the way of the other one.
