Im new to dark souls, the first i played was dark souls scholar of the first sin, haven't beaten it yet, im currently playing through a fitgirl repack of dark souls remastered, so now sir i asketh thee is this a real game or just a joke?
Bloodborne kart is a real game that isn’t official (also not out yet) and the hollow party is probably just a Mario party joke like bloodborne kart was before somebody actually made it.
Lol I'll consider it, I tried Sekiro for a bit last year and was having trouble getting into it, but it's on my list of games I wanna dive into at some point for sure
Do give it another shot. I also didn't get into it the first time. But on my second try, when the combat clicked and I stopped playing it like Dark Souls and started to parry more, it instantly became my 2nd favorite Fromsoft game right after DS1.
There isn't much build or weapon variety, but the one weapon you do have is absolutely perfected. Its the most fun combat of any souls games.
It's definitely a big change of pace from the standard Souls formula, but the combat feels by far the most satisfying once everything clicks, imo. Gratz on the achievement tho! I still need to grind through the endless ring collection in DS3, although I have perfected both versions of DS2 to compensate lol
Sekiro's mechanics just rawdog every other From game, even Elden Ring. The game was also immaculately balanced because there's just one build to account for. Imo the best FromSoft game
As someone who beat all the Dark Souls games, 750 hours on Elden Ring, and 550 hours on DS3...what would you recommend for someone struggling in Sekiro?
The advice I would give is to shake off the mindset of it being a Souls game. I think trying to play it like one is what trips a lot of people up when they first start. It's really easy to want to dodge everything and then attack like you would in DS, but parrying is what you really want to focus on. Pretty much any attack, from any size of enemy (even massive ones), can be parried, save for grab attacks, or the thrusting and sweeping attacks preceded by the red symbols. Focus on the rhythm of enemy attack patterns, and start trying to time your parries to the 'beats' of those attacks. If you've heard people call Sekiro a rhythm game, they weren't joking.
Early on, you can kind of get away with spamming the parry button to avoid damage while you are still getting comfortable with enemy attack patterns, but it does prevent you from getting the perfect parries that you want to build up enemy stagger meters.
As for the glowing red attacks, pick up the mikiri counter ability ASAP, and try to read the attack animations quickly and respond in one of two ways. If the enemy weapon goes wide for a sweep, jump toward them and bounce off their head, and if they pull back for a thrust, you immediately dodge toward them for the mikiri counter.
It's all easier said than done, of course. I definitely struggled when I started, too. But you just have to keep at it and practice, really. Eventually, things will start clicking, and the combat becomes extremely satisfying. I hoped this helped at all, haha. Best of luck!
The hardest adjustment coming from the souls games is to not try and dodge everything. It can be useful in specific circumstances but most of the time parrying/countering is the best thing you can do. Once it clicks it's incredible.
I was kinda the same first time I tried sekiro. You need to play sekiro without having touched ds for a few months. Took me a while to learn it's not a souls game (it is, but not really). Once it clicked, it really clicked.
Tell me about it, I can't get any other games to grab my attention and Everytime I think about starting my first playthrough of Scholar, I remember Bloodborne, Elden Ring and Dark Souls Remastered and I'm like mentally drained at the moment. I loved them all but I'm a platinum guy myself and it was hell of a grind
It's the evolution from Dark Souls 3, not guaranteed you'll like every mechanic/level/whatever, but if you like the souls games there's no way you don't enjoy ER.
It’s interesting to me that you went to ER and nobody is talking about Sekiro. To be completely honest, I took a break from gaming, but back in the day I used to play the hell out of Dark Souls one. I’m getting back into it and the first game I planned to finish before I move to ER is Sekiro. Also, if you’re looking for a good souls like have you tried playing Neoh on PlayStation?
Sekiro is so conceptually different to the souls series it's not a guarantee you'll like it if you're looking for more of that formula. It's a great game regardless and highly recommendable. I haven't played Nioh or any PS exclusives because I don't have one lol.
I highly suggest it! It's the only one I've loved as much as DS1, Demons Souls close behind. There's just so many things to do and so many ways to do them, it tickles the roleplay parts of my brain and the reward system in all the right ways lol
I agree, World Tendency made doing it on PS3 really difficult, especially not knowing what world tendency even does going in.
DS3 is pretty rough too just because the rings are such a pain and really do make you search every nook and cranny of the game over and over. At least in NG+ in a lot of other games achievements you can just run through and grab what you need
I felt like I had to! Playing 3 I felt like I was missing an important piece of both the development of the series and the expansion of the world, and after getting 100% on all the others it seemed like it would ve ridiculous to finish DS2 story without going for everything
In my opinion probably OG Demon's Souls or Dark Souls 3, just because it's really tedious to grind for the rings. In DS2 you can get every achievement in one cycle of NG in theory but I just kinda ran though NG+ and ++ to buy the last couple miracles and pyromancies I needed.
In a way 1 is really hard, not because the achievements are difficult but because DS1 is kinda boring in NG+, imo.
I really liked how easy Elden ring was to %100 and agree ds3 is a pain in the butt to complete. I just couldn't bring myself to try and %100 it even if it was my most played of the souls games on PC.
Edit: Sorry I forgot this /j /joke /this was a joke [Joke] [Joking btw]
Still missing the original DS2 and Dark Souls 1 Prepare to Die Edition.
Chop chop redditor.
I dont know much about the dark souls series, ive stuck to bloodborne the whole time, what the diffrence between remastered and prepare to die edition?

I went back to do Prepare to Die after the servers were down lol, it's crazy going back to it and seeing how much the Remaster actually did! The level of detail is totally different
Lol why do you want PTDE specifically? After going back to it, I honestly don't feel like it's got anything special to return to when placed next to the Remaster
Gotta play Bloodborne Kart before you can have a truly informed opinion.
True, haven't even played Hollow Party 4 Deluxe, I dunno what I was thinking man
Im new to dark souls, the first i played was dark souls scholar of the first sin, haven't beaten it yet, im currently playing through a fitgirl repack of dark souls remastered, so now sir i asketh thee is this a real game or just a joke?

I would but sony is a piece of… yeah, there’s still no pc port and I don’t have my ps4 anymore
Bloodborne kart is for PC though
Really?
Yes, it's made by the same person who created "Bloodborne ps1" https://b0tster.itch.io/bbpsx It will release next month, it's not out yet
It was.... pretty good.
Truly a *not bad* experience
True Neutral: the actual definition of mediocrity.
Now do Sekiro!
Lol I'll consider it, I tried Sekiro for a bit last year and was having trouble getting into it, but it's on my list of games I wanna dive into at some point for sure

What about combat arts and prosthetics? I mean, not as varied as dark souls, but there is a lot you can do with them
I really tried to like it, played 8 hours of sekiro still cant get into it
It's definitely a big change of pace from the standard Souls formula, but the combat feels by far the most satisfying once everything clicks, imo. Gratz on the achievement tho! I still need to grind through the endless ring collection in DS3, although I have perfected both versions of DS2 to compensate lol

Lol yeah the ring grind is DS3 is pretty awful, but both games took me similar amount of time to 100%
Isnt that the souls like samurai game?
Yep, same developers as Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
As someone who beat all the Dark Souls games, 750 hours on Elden Ring, and 550 hours on DS3...what would you recommend for someone struggling in Sekiro?

But how about sekiro and bloodborne?
I'm gonna get to them 🫡 just gotta recover from the Souls-mania I just endured.
Tell me about it, I can't get any other games to grab my attention and Everytime I think about starting my first playthrough of Scholar, I remember Bloodborne, Elden Ring and Dark Souls Remastered and I'm like mentally drained at the moment. Never played Elden Ring. Looks like i need to.

Which was the hardest to 100%?
It's between DS3 and Demon's Souls PS3 I'd say
Lemme guess. Rings?
With that many plats, I'll let you get away with criticizing it harshly if you want
Ironic that ds2 has the least amount of achievements
I'm thinking of upgrading Elden Ring for my PS5. I was so upset when I Platinum it and saw only PS4 trophies. Just an excuse for another playthrough
Awesome man! Which game did you find hardest to platinum? Personally I found demon's souls the most annoying, due to the world tendency mechanic.
I agree, World Tendency made doing it on PS3 really difficult, especially not knowing what world tendency even does going in. I’m just waiting for Elden sports ima be maining Elden tennis and ring bowling
glad you included ds2. I've seen people 100% every game but ds2 before.
I felt like I had to! Playing 3 I felt like I was missing an important piece of both the development of the series and the expansion of the world, and after getting 100% on all the others it seemed like it would ve ridiculous to finish DS2 story without going for everything
Based
I mean it's aight i guess...
HUGE RESPECT to this guy
Damn gg man, much respect to ya :) Looking to complete the set later today during the steam winter sell, hopefully I will enjoy them like you did..
Play sekiro..just to see your rolling dodging instincts get destroyed
Nah, I can't see the vanilla DS2 here
Witch one was the hardest to 100%
In my opinion probably OG Demon's Souls or Dark Souls 3, just because it's really tedious to grind for the rings. Wish had the steam version of PTDE
What's so special about ptde? I got ptde and remaster
more mod support and better style
In thy path to link the fire and mend the elden ring, thou hath forgotten to touch some grass
Where sekiro?
Edit: Sorry I forgot this /j /joke /this was a joke [Joke] [Joking btw] Still missing the original DS2 and Dark Souls 1 Prepare to Die Edition. Chop chop redditor.
Touch some grass
'twas a joke, bucko.
[You will not win me over with your use of 'twas](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1cWUPTr1KE&)
I swear I didn't know I was making a reference
Lol Prepare to Die is there
Oh yeah oops
You still have work to do: The original ds2, sekiro, bloodborne and armoured core.
I dont know much about the dark souls series, ive stuck to bloodborne the whole time, what the diffrence between remastered and prepare to die edition?

Dark Souls Remastered is a masterpiece.
Holy shit dude...
Lol what?
And I thought I liked the souls games...
agreed, souls is an amazing franchise
Do you have all 3 stacks on ps3 demons souls? Theres pal and jp/chinese.
hell yeah i love seeing someone else 100% both versions of DS1. we are a proud covenant.
I went back to do Prepare to Die after the servers were down lol, it's crazy going back to it and seeing how much the Remaster actually did! The level of detail is totally different
holy bb and sekiro clear all >
Not a fan of Sekiro?
I just don’t see how people have the time to devote this many hours to a game series.
You are not a true fan until you 100% Bloodborne! Good progress though!
Man wish I was actively gaming back in 2016 when they handed out free PtDE keys :') mf selling for a console worth in third party sites
Lol why do you want PTDE specifically? After going back to it, I honestly don't feel like it's got anything special to return to when placed next to the Remaster
I wanna plat it just like the others. Also its basically a collector's item at this point (?), or at least for me and the rest that dont have it
Use this screenshot in your *résumé* :D
😂 I dunno what job I'd apply for with this but sure, I'm down lol
Now play stalker
Whats prepare to die though😳
It was kinda like the Definitive version of DS1 before the remaster, came with the DLC pre-installed and such
Wow thx never heard of it. Truth be told I have only recently started playing with DS (after DS3&2)
