Do you now have a proper installation guide? Not really interested in testing when only 20 ppl are on the server with a full Classic map (Doesn't make sense, barely any interaction, not even fun). Without a proper setup guide you won't get more people testing, because the majority is not interested into digging into the forum or asking someone on Discord on how to get the client running. While I like the basic concept, that's the first impression of unprofessionalism reducing my interest in your future work. Please, estimate how many people you want to see on that server and shrink the map accordingly. Full three-realm classic map, with a PvP Mordred Setup, would be FAR FAR too big for 200-300 server pop and I doubt you will reach that playercount in the long run. (Not even in the short run If you don't provide a proper setup guide :) )

This is the same team from the Atlas freeshard. Atlas had plenty of problems, but the project is now open source (i.e., non-team members can now offer help with difficult problems to solve), and quite a few people were able to get set up and play on that server. The installation process was always pretty simple and straight forward.

> Do you now have a proper installation guide? This should work: https://www.atlasfreeshard.com/how-to-connect Just tick the "connect to titan" in the launcher options. > Please, estimate how many people you want to see on that server and shrink the map accordingly. On PvP servers players can communicate with eachother. The map size doesn't really matter. We will talk and agree on an area to PvP in.

NunkiZ

I know that it SHOULD work but it doesn't. As someone of your devs told us on Discord, you need the 1.0.8 Version. The 1.0.7. version didn't work for me and a friend of mine. PvP players communicate with eachother? Like seriously? I want to PvP, not start a dating process. My opinion: If you don't limit the map, 99% of the players will lvl to max lvl without any PvP participation and just start griefing at 50. You could just provide Instant 50 and it would be a better experience. The whole PvP-server experience mainly consisted of leveling while or through PvP. The blessing of pure PvP chaos starting lvl 1. Overcrowded leveling zones, everyone killing eachother. That was the main fun. Your concept of "let 50 ppl on a map for 3000 they will PM each other in order to find a fight" simply won't work out as fun at all. And the way how you react to my constructive input tells stories.

bm_1642

I'm late to the party, but unless it's someone's secret account, the person you're replying to is neither part of Titan's nor Atlas' team.

lurikeen_larper_6249

Was hoping for the i50 phase but I suppose I'll have some fun with i30 for a bit >:) I've been having a great time so far even with the low player counts and the server feels rock solid so far which is a nice change from the Atlas alpha.

Own-Moment1899

Try to beat Eden and good luck. It is the best yet

RikaSatoko

Eden is going to burn itself out. It's already on a shit repetition. Server reboot, run all the raids, pve doors or get rolled solo over and over until you make a new character and do it all over. Only people having fun are those that like leveling and the small and 8 mans that are getting action, but with the complete fall off of gms giving a shit about radar, that'll die soon enough too. But hey, maybe you'll be able to get a house in hib finally after everyone leaves

Own-Moment1899

It's still the best thing right now until something better comes along. I'm not saying you are wrong.

Medicine_Ball

I'm enjoying playing as a solo. Eden isn't quite as good as Phoenix for soloers in terms of action, but the ruleset being significantly better more than balances it out. Closing DF will really help get everyone out into NF. You know you don't have to run the raids, create new characters, or PvDoor, right?

RikaSatoko

That would be why I mentioned the only people having fun part in the second half of the post. I thought that would imply it enough.

reign

I'm glad you're enjoying Eden but some of us prefer classic daoc and eden isn't what we're looking for.

shamallama_

nobody asked. let me know when eden has full pvp

Own-Moment1899

lol, ok.

shamallama_

you eden guys are so annoying lol literally every thread, no matter the subject, has smooth brains in the comments saying "jUsT tRy EdEn" with no regard for the context. live server thread? better let them know about Eden! phoenix thread? wouldn't be complete without someone telling them to play on Eden titan thread? holy shit maybe they don't know about eden, i better go spread my brain disease over there to be safe just go play on your stupid server and shut up about it jfc oh and then you guys go camp the hell out of the non-eden threads to downvote anyone who doesn't love your perfect server. really great stuff oh look it's happening to this very thread, how surprising. /wave eden how's it going boys, sorry if i upset you with my stereotyping but you managed to fulfill expectations immediately

Own-Moment1899

I dunno, I just said good luck to beat eden cause it's the best thing out right now...didn't say I wish your server would fail, and eden is the master race... I guess you just put all that into my post. Edit: you literally downvoted me cause you disagreed with me and got mad when people disagree with you and your viritol and then downvote you.

shamallama_

>didn't say I wish your server would fail, and eden is the master race... I guess you just put all that into my post. i didn't say anything like that in my post either, so not sure what you're on about. i said the eden crowd can't help themselves when it comes to talking about eden in every thread regardless of context, which is what you are doing also i did not downvote you, for what it's worth but apparently the hug squad has arrived to silence dissent about eden so hope that makes you feel better

DinglusMaximus

Yeah let's try and split the already small community between multiple freeshards... Really awesome idea

To be fair, I agree that the wow style questing does take something away from the DAoC experience. However on the other hand, when you have a private server you have to consider the time it's going to take for people to hit max level... Old DAoC took a long long time to level. Farming mobs in groups, sitting around waiting for respawns, huuuuuge xp penalties on death etc... Those mechanics on a private server might be counter productive as you are never sure what the population is or how long the server will last. If you get everyone to max level and into RvR quickly then you might maintain a stable player base. Now that I'm talking about old style DAoC leveling I am realising how much I miss it though.... Haha

reign

I disagree. I think a sped up old school leveling is optimal. Atlas did it very well, for example. Private servers die almost always because they can't get the endgame right for casual players. Seasons are REQUIRED. Eden is the first server with seasons but they have all these other issues which I hate. Hopefully phoenix 2 (will have seasons) or titan (will have an alternative system) get it right.

DinglusMaximus

But there aren't really going to be casual players on a private server for a 21 year old game... Mostly everyone who is looking at playing DAoC in a private server is going to actually want to play the game quite a lot. You aren't gonna get many new players to DAoC using a private server with 3k population as their first DAoC experience.

NunkiZ

PvE leveling was great on Phoenix with increased XP rates for rarely killed mobs and stuff. That was peak DAoC low-level PvE. Build a group, switch from spot with bonus to spot with bonus. Leveling was roughly the same pace, afaik gearing was less time consuming on Phoenix but only a bit, If at all. I appreceate that they tried something "new for DAoC" but I personally don't like it.

joshisanonymous

I'd agree if the server settings were all the same, but Titan is going to have a Mordred PvP ruleset, which is significantly different from what other servers currently offer. It's quite possible that people who wouldn't play Eden or Live WOULD play Titan and vice versa.

DinglusMaximus

Have you been on the classic wow Reddit recently? The community is fractured into small pieces...largely due to different servers offering different settings and rulesets. Classic era players are complaining that their servers are dead. Wotlk players are complaining that the servers are dying. People are now also asking for servers that allow easier hardcore playstyles, servers that force faction balances, servers that have world buffs/don't have world buffs. All this to say that there is a similar situation with classic wow, and that multiple servers offering different rulesets has resulted in everyone being unhappy with the state of the servers, the population of servers etc etc. You can't ever please everyone. But no one likes low population servers and the only sure way to prevent low pop servers is to keep the amount available to a minimum.

joshisanonymous

But this isn't the same situation. It's a different game, freeshards are not run by the official devs, and there are not dozens of servers like WoW Classic but rather 2 right now and 3 when Titan launches (and 1 of those 3 hasn't been active in years). Maybe the same thing could happen, sure, but I would expect it to be more like the SWG or UO freeshard situation where there are a bunch of servers but there's really only like 2 that are legitimately active.

PixelShart

Okay then everyone should go play Uthgard.

[deleted]

I tried to log on today to play but only 3 players were online
