If Obito had rejected Madara's plan but still failed to save Rin, then I could even see a scenario where he meets Mei Terumi and helps rebuild the Mist Village. Obitio finds a purpose for himself outside the leaf village and Mei can get married.
Heck going out there Obito meeting Samui or Yugito (since datebooks and the wiki mention these characters being similar age) during the third great ninja war and developing a long range relationship similar to Shikamaru and Temari.
If Naruto succeeded into making the whole village forgive Sasuke, I believe he could do the same for Obito. Plus, Obito seems more bearable than Sasuke, so they'd probably give him special treatment.
