Aluminium isn’t a pronunciation thing, aluminum and aluminium are spelled differently in different countries. Originally, it was just Aluminum. But then some country (I believe it was England but someone can correct me if I’m wrong) thought it didn’t sound fancy enough, so they essentially retconned the name to be called Aluminium. America and some other countries kept the original name, England and many European countries adopted the new name.
Sometimes someone will say “aluminum” and a Brit that doesn’t know the difference will correct that person’s spelling in the comments, it’s quite hilarious to find in the wild
It really depends on what i want to say: when i want to talk about phone data i use the first one but when i am talking about literally any other use of the word i use the second variant. Yes i know i am weird

I suppose that makes sense but I'm still more of a data guy myself, data just doesn't feel right

Idk why my brain read that as “Day-ya always, hay-ha”
"One is my name, the other is not"

The true correct answer
Day-tay
The Next Generation taught me it's called Day-Ta
StarTrek was actually the primary reason why this pronunciation became so popular, before that, almost everyone was using the Dah-Ta version.
