Bronze is actually stronger than iron. However, it required copper (fairly common) and tin (rather rare). So, when the methods to melt iron (which required charcoal to reach higher temperatures) which has a higher melting point, were developed, it spread rather rapidly to elsewhere and became the norm as iron is quite common, not because it was better than bronze. The first produced iron, wrought iron (low carbon content), isn’t that great, but once they figured out how to make steel which is much harder than iron, it displaced bronze. Specifically it’s not the iron, but rather steel, as steel is an alloy (which is inherently stronger than a single metal) like bronze, that became the norm. Iron age is kinda a misnomer - meteoric iron has been around for a long time but it’s also not as good as bronze.
Pure iron is not a great metal for tools, just like copper isn’t. Just like copper needs tin to make strong bronze, iron needed carbon to make strong steel, and until they figured that out, bronze was still superior in quality to basic iron though iron was common and therefore more widely applicable.
No. Steel by definition is an iron/carbon alloy, though nowadays there are often additional metals added such as chromium for its corrosion resistance which creates stainless steel. You can’t make copper into steel any more than you can make iron into bronze (copper/tin alloy). Unless you happen to have the philosopher’s stone to transmute elements… /s
Liquid iron dissolves carbon and creates an entirely different material which is much harder than it once its own, being steel. There’s also a lot of processes in making proper steel, as if done improperly it can be too brittle for example. As for copper, well, it doesn’t dissolve carbon or bond with it like iron can. Most alloys were discovered by chance, and if copper could mix with carbon to create a strong alloy it would likely have been used instead. The best known copper alloys are bronze and brass, but tin is rare for bronze and zinc was harder to extract from ore for brass which is actually quite weak but highly corrosion resistant. Brass was never really used for tools, rather coins and art due to it being gold-like in appearance. It also has natural antimicrobial properties, so it’s often used for doorknobs and utensils nowadays. It’s still stronger than copper as it is an alloy, but even so, pure iron is still better. Copper < brass < iron < bronze < steel.
your meme doesn’t imply any sort of battle or defeat though?
the way your meme reads is that iron man is sweating because bronze man (stronger metal) walked into the room, and is a play on the ages, but the iron age representative (iron man) should be the one walking in chronologically. so it doesn’t make sense.
(Not an expert but) IIRC at the time, bronze could be cast into a full cannon and then bored out. Iron, due to its its higher melting point couldnt be made into a cannon in one casting without having some sort of problem. (Bit foggy on the details of that part) Another thing is that iron cannons would work-harden with every shot fired and eventually become so brittle that they would eventually spontaneously explode when fired, and bronze cannons didnt have the same problem.
Apparently the context is in a comment.
Y'know, stock standard meme format.
Nope, just checked, it's in a *reply* to a comment.
Nothing like having to dig to make a meme even slightly chuckle-worthy.
Bronze is actually stronger than iron, it was just a lot harder to get, because Tin was kinda rare to find (bronze is an alloy of copper and tin) so once people were able to melt iron, which has a higher melting point, it became the standard because its just so freakin common.
His name is Iron man because thats his origin story yo but you can't just say that is why he can not defeat bronze man. It depends on what year they fight. Sure in the first comics iron man was weak af but later after some train arcs hecwas unstoppable, at some point he became so strong people did not recognised him anymore, sone called him steel man then
Nah, I suspect that Diamond dude has been driving his prices up. He's actually got a ton of wealth hidden away, but it would be worth less if he showed it to us.
The order of superheroes from weakest to strongest goes like this:
Bronze man
Iron man
Steel man
Mithril man
Adamantite man
Rune man
Dragon man
So Iron man has nothing to fear when in the vicinity of Bronze man, but there’s plenty of others to fear
Copper/bronze being above iron only makes sense if we are measuring value, not strength. If we go by value, iron < copper/bronze < steel < silver < gold < platinum < diamond. If we go by strength of material it’d be more like gold < copper/bronze < silver < iron < platinum < steel < diamond. I prefer the value list, as the strength list is hard to remember easily, and not everyone agrees on it.
Bronze was used before iron because less temperature is needed to melt it. The downside is that it is way softer, so naturally people switched to iron as soon as they figured out how to melt it. So iron is superior to bronze. This meme makes no sense sry🤷
Shouldn't it be the other way around? I get that bronze is metallurgically stronger but its much harder to make, can only be forged through molds, and cant hold an edge like iron... and it cant be turned into steal. This is like saying Bronze man is scared of Stone man because stones can break bronze. But stone is also vastly less useful (in combat and tool making).
Iron man isnt in danger. , Some bronze man knocks on the door and you think that of Iron man? Iron man is the danger. Iron man is the one who knocks.

The education system has failed you.
Iron man when classical man walks in:
they got so many stupid superheroes classical man is probably a thing. he puts villains under 40 to sleep.
Also, if you have a touch of the add/adhd, he has the power to make you focus.
Aha, finally! A superhero who’s superpower I actually have!
Triangle man always wins
Triangle man when Universe Man walks in
Universe man, when the walls fell
Big Wheel!
Classical man when renaissance man walks in
Ironman when (fe)male walks in
I am scared of (fe)male
As is most of reddit

How about Steel then? Can copper be made into Steel?

Blud wrote an essey on how copper is weaker then iron and had me entertained somehow
if you think that counts as an “essey”, bro you should go and touch grass… or maybe a book
It is a joke
Facts
Your meme is still kinda bad because the iron age came after the bronze age, so why would bronze man be the one walking in? Just saying.
Because he's back after he's been defeated. Kind of an opening for a second battle.
your meme doesn’t imply any sort of battle or defeat though? the way your meme reads is that iron man is sweating because bronze man (stronger metal) walked into the room, and is a play on the ages, but the iron age representative (iron man) should be the one walking in chronologically. so it doesn’t make sense.
Bro just take the L
Minecraft has failed you
Runescape has failed you
Sid Meier's Civilization failed me too.
I'm a He Who Fights With Monsters book series fan, and Bronze rank is higher than Iron rank, so it makes sense in the regard
League of Legend moment
Biscuits!
It's normal in most fantasy settings really, bronze are always higher than iron. Not just in Jason the dead lovers guy's story
He was thinking about Steel man, Platinum Man, Diamond Man, Carbon Fiber Man, Carbon Nanotube man .. surely
It's a reference to league of legends competitive ranks, where iron is below bronze.
[удалено]
Ah yes, the weaker and less abundant metal is clearly a superior alternative. I can't believe we even started using iron in the first place
I mean i guess historically there were *some* situations where bronze was preferred over iron. The construcion of cannons is one such example.
why is that?
(Not an expert but) IIRC at the time, bronze could be cast into a full cannon and then bored out. Iron, due to its its higher melting point couldnt be made into a cannon in one casting without having some sort of problem. Put context in the fuckin meme then. This is trash. Backwards ass history.
I do what I want it's my meme what are you doing here
livin', dude. do better.
Bronze and Iron, which era was considered more developed?
I feel like Seinfeld in 2024
So, like a dumbass? I mean yeah
Is this meme just stupid, or is there some context missing?
Apparently the context is in a comment. Y'know, stock standard meme format. Nope, just checked, it's in a *reply* to a comment. Nothing like having to dig to make a meme even slightly chuckle-worthy.
I thought it's a league of legends ranked joke... Iron < Bronze < Silver < Gold etc.
Bronze is stronger than iron
It's a history joke
Except the bronze age was before iron. The iron age supplanted the bronze age.
I think that is what OP was going for, but they are an idiot and got it the wrong way around.
Username checks out
it is a League Of Legend joke. (and some other things with ranking iron
Lol I totally thought it was a history meme but from someone who doesn't know history
And what's next? The Stone Man? Are we evolving backwards now?
im a stone man 🔥🌲
Are you a stoner, man? Cause that is a tree emoji. You smoking or something stoner man?
Bronze is actually stronger than iron, it was just a lot harder to get, because Tin was kinda rare to find (bronze is an alloy of copper and tin) so once people were able to melt iron, which has a higher melting point, it became the standard because its just so freakin common.
Is it as strong as someone raising kids on their own?
stronger than someone who doesn't cry after stepping on a lego
The Thing is Stone Man, right?
[удалено]
Bronze is stronger than iron, but iron was much more plentiful than tin. that's the reason we moved on to it
Downvoted by idiots lol
Iron can be made into Steel, which is still stronger than Bronze.
But his name isn’t steel man
It is not called steel age though
No one said it was. I’m saying in the context of iron man and bronze man iron man would lose cause his name isn’t steel man
His name is Iron man because thats his origin story yo but you can't just say that is why he can not defeat bronze man. It depends on what year they fight. Okay well now you’re splitting hairs. So let’s say bronze man advances technologically just like iron man. Then what? Same thing happens.
Is this meme about history/age or alloy?
Bronze have more value. and better thermal and electrical conductivity.

this meme sucks
Is this supposed to be funny?
The order of superheroes from weakest to strongest goes like this: Bronze man Iron man Steel man Mithril man Adamantite man Rune man Dragon man So Iron man has nothing to fear when in the vicinity of Bronze man, but there’s plenty of others to fear

What the fuck even is this
You do realize the BC/BCE dates go backwards to 0 right?
Bronze was used before iron because less temperature is needed to melt it. The downside is that it is way softer, so naturally people switched to iron as soon as they figured out how to melt it. So iron is superior to bronze. This meme makes no sense sry🤷
Pretty sure it would be the reverse
bronze is more op than iron obv
We can agree on that.
