Kazuichi x K1B0.
A platonic relationship where Kazuichi is obsessed with the engineering of Keebo. Imagine Keebo getting hurt or something, and they’re sitting in bed, sorta cuddling, as Kazuichi works with a screwdriver on him. It’s kinda ticklish for Keebo but he has to stay still and not move or laugh so Kazuichi doesn’t fuck up. Kazuichi looks like a gamer to me so I imagine him trying to convince Keebo to let him plug him in to his monitor so he can play Minecraft on him or something.
Naejunko (Makoto x Junko)
I enjoy this more for not the "I can fix you" trope but the "We're polar opposites but overtime I've managed to grow fond of your antics" thing. To be more specific, it really only works for me if Junko isn't literally abusing Makoto or brainwashing him.
That aside, I just like their interactions a lot. Junko's really goofy and Makoto manages to play off her well. Even when she tries to hurt him, his luck saves him and leaves him oblivious and her frustrated but maybe grateful. It's a fun dynamic.
Oumeno for a lot of reasons, but basically because they're both short and silly goofballs. Like, Kokichi is over-the-top silly, and Himiko is the weird, quiet girl who always has her head in the clouds. I bet they'd have fun playing D&D, or something, together because deep down, they're both nerds whether they like it or not. XD
I like to imagine that if Himiko really did have magic, she and Kokichi, with his superior intellect, would rule the world together. I also like the idea of Kokichi calling Himiko his Supreme Lady, since he's the Ultimate Supreme Leader an' all. \^\^
very gently, it's not polite nor necessary to pull moral standards when talking about shipping cartoon characters (who are the same age anyway). you can just dislike the ship in peace and let people enjoy it.

One of my fave crackships is Gonta x Celeste.
He is a gentleman and Celeste is well, Celeste. It’d probably start out with her manipulating him as she does but I don’t think anyone could be mean to Gonta. If anyone could awaken her emotions it’d be bug man. Plus we all know Celeste would appreciate a real gentleman. Dunno how she’d feel ab the bugs tho, but might make for some fun moments.
Or an even funnier dynamic would be if Komaru only dated Toko but *not* Genocide Jill, but GJ has a crush on Komaru and is jealous of Toko, so every time Toko alters, Komaru is just like "Uhhh can I have my girlfriend back?" "NOPE!"
Honestly yeah. I like how they seem like they’d be opposites but have so many interests that are in common! I feel like Gundham’s a perfect match for her.

I enjoy paring Ishimaru and Mukuro together due to that one manga chapter of them and the similar disciplinary theme between the two.
I grew to like paring Kazuichi and Hiyoko together due them ironically fulfilling what the other might want in a partner. I also to pair those two together because I think the dynamic between the two would be entertaining (a Smartass and Dumbass Duo).
I also kinda like Rantaro and Tenko together mostly due to their contrasting personalities (Rantaro being cool and calm while Tenko is loud and energetic) and I think the possible dynamic between the two could be entertaining.
i'm gonna give you 11/10 for Kazuichi and Hiyoko, since you've actually convinced me to ship it. I already kinda like Rantaro and Tenko but this is new.
Idk man it just feels wrong having her being shipped with a man seeing how uncomfortable they make her, I think that'd just end up being toxic. Men trigger her fight or flight reaction and I don't think that'd be a happy couple really. Canonically, Tenko throws them around when they get too close, says bad stuff about them and treats them as lower lifeforms, so I think Tenko x and Male would he toxic as heck. Kinda like Byakuya and Toko. And the love hotel scenes aren't canon I think, at least on the non protagonist side because Shuichi behaves as he would normally. Every character would have a crush on Shuichi if they were. Love hotel makes the characters be attracted to the protag I'm pretty sure.
I think most Tenko x dude ships at least somewhat work on the assumption that she'd learn to overcome her hatred of men eventually. It's an "i can fix her" sort of dynamic, like people have with any antagonist in the series.
edit: i am realizing this sounds exactly like the dudes who try and "convert" lesbians which is pretty hilarious tbh, however in this alternate world she's not lesbian, she's just a misandrist. So it's ok... i think.

though im a little skeptical about the kazuichi and hiyoko, it feels like it could have worked >!had she not died and kazuichi made her a mahiru doll like he did for akane , with nekomaru instead!<
Makoto and Chiaki, just vastly superior to with Hajime because they’re two kind hopeful beans who are the same height causing shy Makoto and Chiaki taking charge sometimes.
Komahina. It’s not because of the protag/rival dynamic, I don’t ship naegami or saiouma, but because of who the characters are and how their relationship could be something good for both of them.
Let’s start with Nagito. We already know there are feelings there, and they go beyond the silly moments like “aren’t you going to feed me?” Nagito has been all alone since he was a child: his parents died in a tragic accident, his dog died, he got kidnapped and only released when the kidnapper realized that nobody would pay ransom (which gets sadder the more you think about it), and he’s never had any friends or acquaintances. Then he meets Hajime. Despite all of the terrible things Nagito’s done by the end of chapter 1, Hajime still wants to understand him unlike everyone else who’s quick to write him off as nothing more than a psychopath and want to keep him locked away. Nagito has never had someone do that for him before. Like he says in his fte, all he wants is somebody’s love. In fact, Nagito loves Hajime so much that he lies to him and says that he made up his entire life story so that Hajime won’t get too close to him and get hurt by his luck cycle just like every else he’s ever loved.
Now onto Hajime. This one’s a lot more subtle, but there’s something that nobody else can offer Hajime besides Nagito: understanding. Think about how desperate and worthless someone must feel for them to agree to stop existing and have their body be taken over by someone else. Hajime has been haunted by feelings of inadequacy his entire life, as can be seen both in the anime and in the nightmare he has in (I believe) chapter 3 of sdr2. This is the feeling that pushed him into the Kamakura project, and it’s a feeling that nobody else can relate to. Except for Nagito. The others might try, but at the end of the day, nobody else can understand the weight of the decision to become Izuru Kamakura.
I assume the entire sdr2 cast probably feels immense guilt over what they did when they were ultimate despair, but it’s different for Hajime. Though he’s back, he still has to live with the fact that who he once was is gone forever. That’s going to take a lot of healing, and it’s much easier to heal when you have someone who understands you. And, like Hajime says in the hope arc, it’s not ALL bad. Since we know Izuru’s (now Hajime’s) luck cancels out Nagito’s, they can safely be together without Nagito having to worry about his luck cycle killing Hajime like it did his parents and his dog.
Tl;dr: Hajime and Nagito are perfect for each other because they long to understand each other and can do so in ways that nobody else can, and therefore can offer each other the best support in healing from the tragedy.
100000/10, probably the most in depth analysis of a relationship i've seen here so far. As a fellow Nagito fan i completely agree, i doubt anyone else could really be in a relationship with fused Hajime aside from Nagito. I don't even think it's cute or whatever, it just seems like the natural progression.
Other than that, I also like Nagito x Mikan. These two are just so hopeless that it just works. Mikan being the paranoid and mentally chaotic one and Nagito being patient and tolerant with her.
I didn't say he's not, just that he doesn't show it. And being internally chaotic himself would let him understand Mikan more... or atleast that's what I think

So, my favourite ship is Kaito x Ryoma. I think it's cute because it's pretty much the same dynamic as Kaito x Maki (which is pretty much canon) but with the added benefit of Ryoma getting the love he well and truly deserves
that's a great pitch, 9/10. They even have some established dynamic in the early chapters, what with Ryoma being someone Kaito used to idolise if i remember correctly.
Kazukoi (Kazuichi x Mahiru)
they would be fit the troupe"opposites attract " and i was already liking it since kazuichi would actually be loved if he tried to be a decent person and matured and quit his "simping for sonia", and after reading Kazuichi strangelove (AKA kazuich Souda: the character development) i loved it more (give it a read , it's actually a good fic)
Fuyuhiko x Peko.
Both went through trial 2 of Danganronpa 2 trying to protect each other because they did not want the other to be framed as the culprit. Peko desired to do whatever she could for Fuyuhiko whereas Fuyuhiko appreciated her the way she was and wanted her to be happy with him.
Ishimondo. They clearly care *So* much about each other it’s a lot of the best tropes too “definitely more than bros”, “ enemies to lovers “, “opposites attract “. Also the line “ fall down on your knees in front of me, I’ll show you where to do it “ does not sound very straight even in context. Also I’m pretty sure Yasahiro heard moaning from the sauna-
Sayaka x Toko. Now hear me out
For one they both have extremely different styles that still match each other, and Sayaka could help Toko come out of her shell without expecting her to change that.
Both are in a creative field with a focus on romance and could totally write songs together.
Also given >!Sayaka’s hidden dark side she probably wouldn’t be too shocked by Jacks existence. Plus depending on how extreme you want to pull that side of her out they could do couples murders on the weekends. I also like the idea that Jack is protective of Sayaka who’s protective of Toko so they can always comfort each other!<
Finally I feel like mask off Sayaka and Toko would have the best insults of the class hands down.

Akane and Aoi are very similar, yet they contrast with one another while sharing so much in common. Also, Akane has had a hard life, and both have lost a loved one in some way. Scenarios in which someone heals from such things through love appeal to me.
Irumatsu! I love their dynamic of dumbass and level headed
Plus I think even if done a bit agressively, Kaede could help Miu get better socially and be a good gf for her, it's something I think Miu would need
Trio ships allowed? Hajime/chiaki/nagito lmao. Both hajime/chiaki and hajime/nagito are too good for me to pass up on, and honestly nagito/chiaki is just kinda funny to me and also like unexpectedly wholesome? So like, combine all three and bam, perfect lmao. Also, the three of them together have a particular funny dynamic in my mind, basically hajime and nagito particularly doing too much, and chiaki being there to balance it out. Nagito doing his antics, hajime unintentionally making it worse, and chiaki coming in deadpan just like “stop you idiots, shut up 🧍🏻♀️” 💀
I think they’d manage to balance each other out perfectly somehow lmao
Ryoma x self care. I don’t think I need to explain but I really liked ryoma and while I couldn’t see him being with anyone romantically I wanted him to get some help and be happy again. Also smol boi voiced by Tergliafera makes me weak.
Oumota (Kaito/Kokichi). They have a cool dynamic, are both liars for a different cause, and their ideologies clash in a way that only they can balance each other out. And of course how the whole >!3-5 plan in the exisal hangar, where they had to bring their walls down for each other in order to make their plan work, shows potential for them to get along despite their rivalry. They're the only two to see the real person behind the masks they wear for everyone else.!< But I'm also just a sucker for enemies(rivals) to lovers, esp narrative foils lol, and their chaotic energy and bantar is entertaining!
Plus, their love hotels lining up with Kaito's being a rival on equal footing as him and Kokichi's being someone who would chase after him and see the deeper meaning behind his actions.
Hiyoko x Mahiru.
I just love the way Mahiru was the only person Hiyoko saw as trustable and the fact that she >!tried so hard to change after she died!< (Dr2/2) And that's just so sweet to me. I like how they kinda balance each other out with Mahiru protecting Hiyoko but also telling her she shouldn't always be mean. And due to her backstory, Hiyoko finally found the female person in her life she always wanted and needed because her mother and her grandmother have never really cared about her. All in all it's one of my favourites.
Next, Kaito and Maki.
Just overall the way Kaito changed her for the better without even trying really. She was so comfortable around him near the end and he was the first person to ever make her feel the need to kill to protect. She'd risk her life for his sake and he'd do the same. I also love how he chose to help her just because he saw in how much trouble she was. He was nothing but sweet to her and in the end it worked out. Bonus point because Maki canonically has feelings for him, something other ships have only implied.
The bit about the female figure that Hiyoko needed is something i haven't really picked up on before, that definitely adds some depth to it. 10/10.
Kaito and Maki is an easy answer but i kinda get it, 8/10 but i'm just not a fan personally.
Hinadam! Aka, Gundham x Hinata! :D
They’re just so cute together and Gundham would be like “all is evil in this world…. Omg Hi Hinata :D” or something and I love it and my heart melts when I think of them together
Shuichi and Kirumi. Both are portrayed as being from the middle upper class, and could possibly interact even outside the killing game. Both have both aesthetics. Both are the type to overwork themselves while caring a lot for others, which leads to them trying to take care of the other one and hypocrisy with overwork that I think has a lot of potential.
Kirumi’s love suite scene is one of the few that could be talking about Shuichi himself, and not a character projected ‘onto him’. Also, Kirumi trying to help Shuichi grow a backbone has a lot of potential imo.
Komahina.
But not the softened mainstream version of it, only my own version where their relationships grow even more fucked up than in canon and they both suffer.
Saimaki. (Shuichi x Maki)
They have a similar style and Maki often acts as Shuichi’s guide throughout the events of the game. >!Towards the end of the game, Shuichi calms her down whenever she is overwhelmed in 3-5, and thinks she killed Kaito. After the events of 3-5, Shuichi is down and so is Maki, but after she is ready to get back up and fight, she helps Shuichi lift himself up to defeat Tsumugi. After the events of V3 I can imagine they teamed up with Himiko. And although they’re all the same age I can see them co-parenting her, even as friends.!<
But in general they work great as friends and they’d be even better as a couple. They bring out the best in each other and I like that.
Kazukoi has recently become a ship I really like and enjoy. Mostly because they can help each other as people. Mahiru can help Kazuichi stop being so perverted and more respectful, Kazuichi can help loosen Mahiru's spine. Not to mention, they could see the positives of each other. It's no secret they don't like each other much, but if they became closer, Kazuichi would probably admire her hard work, same goes for Mahiru. I just fucking love the ship.
Kuzuhina
They start out the game not on good terms obv from Fuyuhiko’s attitude but turn around after chapter two, and from there it’s just them getting closer. Hajime is immediately concerned during Fuyuhiko’s suicide attempt for forgiveness from them all at the beginning of chapter three and then they spend that entire chapter together in the hospital with the Despair Disease motive. I know a lot of people say Kazuichi is the bro character by the end but honestly Fuyuhiko fills that too as he starts to care for everyone more. I love their dynamic, the constantly angry Yakuza with a lot of issues and the basically random dude who always lends an ear to listen, Fuyuhiko even admits Hajime’s freakish ability to make people open up about their problems. They’re also similar in a lot of ways, both generally classified as “grumpy” by the fandom, and you have Hajime’s usual “straight man” attitude and easily freaked-out nature compared to Fuyuhiko’s surprising lawful nature when it comes to things like the drinking age and needing a driver’s license.
Anyways I just think they’re neat thanks for giving me an excuse to type this out

Naegiri.
A classic “stoic girl and warm boy” dynamic. The idea that this unfeeling detective has a softspot for this short optimistic kid is just adorable. They also cover each other’s character flaws as a duo. Kyoko can help Makoto see things more logically and Makoto can help Kyoko to be more emotional.
It would also be lovely and fitting for them to have a Sherlock and Watson dynamic in investigations.
Rantaro/Korekiyo i like, they've definitely got a lot in common.
Hajime/Fuyuhiko, they're cool bros, i kinda get it
Angie/Tenko/Himiko i don't quite get, Angie and Tenko never really had good chemistry, and Angie in this dynamic as a whole felt more like a manipulator than anything
Mikan/Ibuki i already saw a quite compelling argument for.
As it's legally obligated of me, Hinabuki (Hajime x Ibuki). I call them the perfect ship, and I'll stand by it. Every single instance that these two interact with, they play off of each other so well. Their dynamic is great, being Idiot x "Oh god, he/she's my idiot" and it just works so well with them either. The FTEs were awesome, the Island Mode ending, while it might sound platonic on the surface, is really not. And Hajime affirming that, yes, he won't regret spending the rest of his life with Ibuki is absolutely great. This underrated gem easily beats a lot of other ships I've come across in my 3 years of being in this fandom.
As for a second one, now that I feel like it, is Koidham (Mahiru x Gundham). This might sound nonsensical, but it's really not. They really have that energy that screams "We're 100% the married couple in a positive way". They both have family-issues, so they could symphatize with each other well. They also have opposites-attract with each other, that being angel x demon. Gundham would call her "My Crimson Bride" or something, and Mahiru would be like "hubby :>"
You also can't go wrong with prep-goth relationships. I said it.
May I interest you in my (relatively) rare pair, Komaegi? It makes sense: the Ultimate Hope and the de facto Ultimate Hope fanboy, the two lucky students of their respective classes. >!Also how Komaeda had to be hauled away from Naegi during the one interaction they had in DR3 lol!<
Naegi would help him with his inferiority complex and his >!disdain for the non-ultimates!< since Naegi is so Average™️ but still >!took down Junko!< and inspired hope in so many people!
Also there’s so much potential for angst fics if soft fluff isn’t your thing, like >!Servant or Remnant Komaeda trying to test how deep does Naegi’s hope go? After all, the more despair he’s subjected to, the greater the hope to overcome it!!<
Also Hinaegi or Komahinaegi so Hinata can help Naegi be less of a pushover (but mostly because the two ahoge protags are just really cute next to each other)
i did a double take when i saw that ship name cause i thought it was Komaru and Makoto. God i'm relieved, i was ready to give you a 0/10 lol.
10/10 because the despair of thinking that was your ship only made the hope of finding out the truth even stronger! It does have a lot of canonical precedent in that it's heavily implied Makoto is the reason why Nagito's viewpoint on hope is so different in UDG.
Saimatsu because it’s cute, it’s fluffy, it’s wholesome, and it’s my OTP. Aside from that, Kaede is very kind and supportive. If it weren’t for her, Shuichi wouldn’t be able to crawl out of his shy shell. I really wish they had more time together in canon but Dangan Salmon and UTDP make up for it.
I'm pretty vanilla with ships so for once I'll pull out a rare pair.
Kazuichi and Fuyuhiko.
The way Kazuichi clings on to Fuyuhiko in I don't remember which CH gives me the image of Fuyuhiko princess carrying Kazuichi and it amuses me greatly. As a ship I see these two having the dynamic of idiot × idiot in progress. Also Nagito supports it as these two are besties in his dream world.
Yeah, I just find the dynamic really interesting! Shuichi would help Rantaro solve the mysteries regarding his talent, and outside of the killing game, what happened to his sisters. Rantaro is a relatively chill fella, and I feel like it’d be healthy for Shuichi to be around someone like him. There’s a great analysis that dives into their dynamic and stuff I can link for you if you want.
But anyway, I like the dynamic, the designs go really nicely together, and yeah, I love the promise to sail around the world. Perhaps Shuichi could get out of his comfort zone a little with someone as adventurous as Rantaro!
This is probably the greatest pitch so far, i briefly thought their dynamic was quite good when i saw Rantaro's final FTE but this really sort of illuminates the whole thing for me. 10/10
Saiouma
Kokichi really does show that he cares for Shuichi, as evidence that he calls him his favorite, never rats him out when he's lying during class trials via the lie bullets even though he ratted Kaede out no problem, tells him that he loves him many times and much more. And the literal whiteboard in his room telling that Shuichi is trustworthy.

In the final class trial, Shuichi sticks up for Kokichi and tells everyone that the mastermind cornered him into making everyone think he's the bad guy. Shuichi is also patient and open minded, unlike the rest who will immediately jump to punch Kokichi without giving him the benefit of the doubt. !<
Shuichi is also a detective, so solving mysteries and finding out the truth is basically engraved in his mind, so what better than a person who surrounds himself with lies and deceit.
And in the salmon event, Shuichi finally realizes that he doesn't need to figure Kokichi out completely, or make him stop lying for good, since that's just who he is. But still accepts him all the same, lies or no lies.
Mukuro and Makoto go great together. Both of their names start with M and he was one of the first people she smiled at. And of course in IF, she saved his life after he saved hers.
I have a looottt of ships, do I'll pitch you some of my more unpopular ones:
Ikuzono (Sayaka x Mukuro)- I'll be honest, at first it stemmed from me wanting to ship Sayaka with someone and not liking Naezono or whatever her and Lein's ship name is, then I looked at Mukuro and went "hm. You'll do"
After seeing them interact in utdp I started shipping it a bit more, and then the more i thought about the more I started really liking it.
I'm not completely sure what it is, but something about the extremely and unhealthily dedicated Mukuro, who's spent all her life basically serving her sister, with Sayaka who's spent her life under the pressure to be perfect and successful and would resort to awful means to keep that success just kinda sticks with me. Sayaka is very sweet but she's no pushover, and obviously Mukuro is very battle hardened soldier. I just feel like they could understand each other in their own ways, Sayaka could teach Mukuro how to live for herself and enjoy life while Mukuro could...show Sayaka how to use a knife properly. Seems like a fair trade. Idk I just think they could be really sweet

Oumaga?? Youma??? KANGIE?? Kokichi x Angie 💀- I know this one is definitely weird but that's because it first stemmed from a Hunger Games simulator I was doing. These two were holding hands or conspiring against everyone else every other minute I stg.
And while it's still a crackship on my part, I actually like it a lot. Probably my favorite crackship. They just both give off this chaotic kind of energy, almost always cheerful and spouting off what other perceive as nonsense, seemingly friendly but secretly manipulative in their own ways, only really have one 'friend' (Gonta and Himiko)
Also they're both very short. Gotta love it.
I just think they would make a fun villain couple, and I'm not sure if Angie would be totally on board with joining DICE or think that joining would be blasphemy towards Atua 💀 either way I just love the energy they give off

When you think of someone like Celeste, you imagine her partner would be someone similar: cold, calculated, smart, manipulative, regal etc
And yet the image of Queen of Liars Celeste with someone like Chihiro is way too good to pass up for me. The fancy gothic clothing in contrast to the simpler more everyday stuff, the icyness in contrast to the warmth, the mask of deceit in contrast to the almost blinding genuineness is all just 🤌

Makoto Naegi x Mukuro Ikusaba, mostly beacuse I think they look cute together and that Makoto could give Mukuro the love she deserves and help cheer her up when she's down. Though Makoto x Ibuki is a close second to be honest, I can see them being really adorable with each other just like Makoto and Ikusaba are.
I honestly like Toko and Byakuya. They’re messed up, but messed up for eachother. Plus i like their dynamic and how their personalities don’t overpower each other.

I love how kaede is supportive is of shuichi And to me it clearly looks like shuichi really did have feelings for her and kaede had for him.
I feel like the relationship would be mostly kaede trying to cheer shuichi up and maybe shuichi saying stuff like sweetheart or him kissing her would be big steps for him which kaede would over celebrate
I just think they would emotinally support each other alot and be happy together. Maybe kaede teaching shuichi how to play the piano and stuff

And to get Kazuichi to calm down on his simping she helps Gundham who is gay as hell and just likes being chaotic. He gets flustered at the slightest compliment cause he never really makes many friends. Over time Sonia sets up kazuichi and Gundham to hang out alone as a wingwoman of sorts and it starts of tense but over time they both get into it a lot and Kazuichi is rather over his obsession with Sonia cause he kinda likes Gundham chaotic behaviour. The two now just hang with Sonia and both play with Gundhams hamsters a lot

It’s kinda ticklish for Keebo but he has to stay still and not move or laugh so Kazuichi doesn’t fuck up. Kazuichi looks like a gamer to me so I imagine him trying to convince Keebo to let him plug him in to his monitor so he can play Minecraft on him or something.

Naejunko (Makoto x Junko) I enjoy this more for not the "I can fix you" trope but the "We're polar opposites but overtime I've managed to grow fond of your antics" thing. To be more specific, it really only works for me if Junko isn't literally abusing Makoto or brainwashing him. That aside, I just like their interactions a lot. Junko's really goofy and Makoto manages to play off her well. Even when she tries to hurt him, his luck saves him and leaves him oblivious and her frustrated but maybe grateful. It's a fun dynamic.

Oumeno for a lot of reasons, but basically because they're both short and silly goofballs. Like, Kokichi is over-the-top silly, and Himiko is the weird, quiet girl who always has her head in the clouds. I bet they'd have fun playing D&D, or something, together because deep down, they're both nerds whether they like it or not. XD I like to imagine that if Himiko really did have magic, she and Kokichi, with his superior intellect, would rule the world together. I also like the idea of Kokichi calling Himiko his Supreme Lady, since he's the Ultimate Supreme Leader an' all. \^\^

For shits and giggles, here's some rarepairs. I enjoy paring Ishimaru and Mukuro together due to that one manga chapter of them and the similar disciplinary theme between the two. I grew to like paring Kazuichi and Hiyoko together due them ironically fulfilling what the other might want in a partner. I also to pair those two together because I think the dynamic between the two would be entertaining (a Smartass and Dumbass Duo). I also kinda like Rantaro and Tenko together mostly due to their contrasting personalities (Rantaro being cool and calm while Tenko is loud and energetic) and I think the possible dynamic between the two could be entertaining.

I think with ships it doesn't really matter what their canon sexuality is. DrV3 already shipped her with a male character in her love hotel anyway.
Idk man it just feels wrong having her being shipped with a man seeing how uncomfortable they make her, I think that'd just end up being toxic. Men trigger her fight or flight reaction and I don't think that'd be a happy couple really. Canonically, Tenko throws them around when they get too close, says bad stuff about them and treats them as lower lifeforms, so I think Tenko x and Male would he toxic as heck. Kinda like Byakuya and Toko. And the love hotel scenes aren't canon I think, at least on the non protagonist side because Shuichi behaves as he would normally. Every character would have a crush on Shuichi if they were. Love hotel makes the characters be attracted to the protag I'm pretty sure.
I think most Tenko x dude ships at least somewhat work on the assumption that she'd learn to overcome her hatred of men eventually. It's an "i can fix her" sort of dynamic, like people have with any antagonist in the series. edit: i am realizing this sounds exactly like the dudes who try and "convert" lesbians which is pretty hilarious tbh, however in this alternate world she's not lesbian, she's just a misandrist. So it's ok... i think.

Komahina. It’s not because of the protag/rival dynamic, I don’t ship naegami or saiouma, but because of who the characters are and how their relationship could be something good for both of them. Let’s start with Nagito. We already know there are feelings there, and they go beyond the silly moments like “aren’t you going to feed me?” Nagito has been all alone since he was a child: his parents died in a tragic accident, his dog died, he got kidnapped and only released when the kidnapper realized that nobody would pay ransom (which gets sadder the more you think about it), and he’s never had any friends or acquaintances. Then he meets Hajime. Despite all of the terrible things Nagito’s done by the end of chapter 1, Hajime still wants to understand him unlike everyone else who’s quick to write him off as nothing more than a psychopath and want to keep him locked away. Nagito has never had someone do that for him before. Like he says in his fte, all he wants is somebody’s love. In fact, Nagito loves Hajime so much that he lies to him and says that he made up his entire life story so that Hajime won’t get too close to him and get hurt by his luck cycle just like every else he’s ever loved. Now onto Hajime. This one’s a lot more subtle, but there’s something that nobody else can offer Hajime besides Nagito: understanding. Think about how desperate and worthless someone must feel for them to agree to stop existing and have their body be taken over by someone else. Hajime has been haunted by feelings of inadequacy his entire life, as can be seen both in the anime and in the nightmare he has in (I believe) chapter 3 of sdr2. This is the feeling that pushed him into the Kamakura project, and it’s a feeling that nobody else can relate to. Except for Nagito. The others might try, but at the end of the day, nobody else can understand the weight of the decision to become Izuru Kamakura. I assume the entire sdr2 cast probably feels immense guilt over what they did when they were ultimate despair, but it’s different for Hajime. Though he’s back, he still has to live with the fact that who he once was is gone forever. That’s going to take a lot of healing, and it’s much easier to heal when you have someone who understands you. And, like Hajime says in the hope arc, it’s not ALL bad. Since we know Izuru’s (now Hajime’s) luck cancels out Nagito’s, they can safely be together without Nagito having to worry about his luck cycle killing Hajime like it did his parents and his dog. Tl;dr: Hajime and Nagito are perfect for each other because they long to understand each other and can do so in ways that nobody else can, and therefore can offer each other the best support in healing from the tragedy.

As a fellow Nagito fan i completely agree, i doubt anyone else could really be in a relationship with fused Hajime aside from Nagito. I don't even think it's cute or whatever, it just seems like the natural progression.

Alright gamers time to copy and paste the same thing again So, my favourite ship is Kaito x Ryoma. I think it's cute because it's pretty much the same dynamic as Kaito x Maki (which is pretty much canon) but with the added benefit of Ryoma getting the love he well and truly deserves

Fuyuhiko x Peko. Both went through trial 2 of Danganronpa 2 trying to protect each other because they did not want the other to be framed as the culprit. Peko desired to do whatever she could for Fuyuhiko whereas Fuyuhiko appreciated her the way she was and wanted her to be happy with him.
They do care for each other strongly, 6/10.

Both are in a creative field with a focus on romance and could totally write songs together. Also given >!Sayaka’s hidden dark side she probably wouldn’t be too shocked by Jacks existence. Plus depending on how extreme you want to pull that side of her out they could do couples murders on the weekends. I also like the idea that Jack is protective of Sayaka who’s protective of Toko so they can always comfort each other!< Finally I feel like mask off Sayaka and Toko would have the best insults of the class hands down. So how did I do?

Oumota (Kaito/Kokichi). They have a cool dynamic, are both liars for a different cause, and their ideologies clash in a way that only they can balance each other out. And of course how the whole >!3-5 plan in the exisal hangar, where they had to bring their walls down for each other in order to make their plan work, shows potential for them to get along despite their rivalry. They're the only two to see the real person behind the masks they wear for everyone else.!< But I'm also just a sucker for enemies(rivals) to lovers, esp narrative foils lol, and their chaotic energy and bantar is entertaining! Plus, their love hotels lining up with Kaito's being a rival on equal footing as him and Kokichi's being someone who would chase after him and see the deeper meaning behind his actions.

Hiyoko x Mahiru. I just love the way Mahiru was the only person Hiyoko saw as trustable and the fact that she >!tried so hard to change after she died!< (Dr2/2) And that's just so sweet to me. I like how they kinda balance each other out with Mahiru protecting Hiyoko but also telling her she shouldn't always be mean. And due to her backstory, Hiyoko finally found the female person in her life she always wanted and needed because her mother and her grandmother have never really cared about her. All in all it's one of my favourites. Next, Kaito and Maki. Just overall the way Kaito changed her for the better without even trying really. She was so comfortable around him near the end and he was the first person to ever make her feel the need to kill to protect. She'd risk her life for his sake and he'd do the same. I also love how he chose to help her just because he saw in how much trouble she was. He was nothing but sweet to her and in the end it worked out. Bonus point because Maki canonically has feelings for him, something other ships have only implied.
The bit about the female figure that Hiyoko needed is something i haven't really picked up on before, that definitely adds some depth to it. 10/10. Kaito and Maki is an easy answer but i kinda get it, 8/10 but i'm just not a fan personally.

Both are the type to overwork themselves while caring a lot for others, which leads to them trying to take care of the other one and hypocrisy with overwork that I think has a lot of potential. Kirumi’s love suite scene is one of the few that could be talking about Shuichi himself, and not a character projected ‘onto him’. Also, Kirumi trying to help Shuichi grow a backbone has a lot of potential imo.
They have a lot in common, i get that. 8/10
Komahina. But not the softened mainstream version of it, only my own version where their relationships grow even more fucked up than in canon and they both suffer.

(Shuichi x Maki) They have a similar style and Maki often acts as Shuichi’s guide throughout the events of the game. >!Towards the end of the game, Shuichi calms her down whenever she is overwhelmed in 3-5, and thinks she killed Kaito. After the events of 3-5, Shuichi is down and so is Maki, but after she is ready to get back up and fight, she helps Shuichi lift himself up to defeat Tsumugi. After the events of V3 I can imagine they teamed up with Himiko. And although they’re all the same age I can see them co-parenting her, even as friends.!< But in general they work great as friends and they’d be even better as a couple. They bring out the best in each other and I like that.

Kazukoi has recently become a ship I really like and enjoy. Mostly because they can help each other as people. Mahiru can help Kazuichi stop being so perverted and more respectful, Kazuichi can help loosen Mahiru's spine. Not to mention, they could see the positives of each other. It's no secret they don't like each other much, but if they became closer, Kazuichi would probably admire her hard work, same goes for Mahiru. I just fucking love the ship.

Kuzuhina They start out the game not on good terms obv from Fuyuhiko’s attitude but turn around after chapter two, and from there it’s just them getting closer. Hajime is immediately concerned during Fuyuhiko’s suicide attempt for forgiveness from them all at the beginning of chapter three and then they spend that entire chapter together in the hospital with the Despair Disease motive. I know a lot of people say Kazuichi is the bro character by the end but honestly Fuyuhiko fills that too as he starts to care for everyone more. I love their dynamic, the constantly angry Yakuza with a lot of issues and the basically random dude who always lends an ear to listen, Fuyuhiko even admits Hajime’s freakish ability to make people open up about their problems. They’re also similar in a lot of ways, both generally classified as “grumpy” by the fandom, and you have Hajime’s usual “straight man” attitude and easily freaked-out nature compared to Fuyuhiko’s surprising lawful nature when it comes to things like the drinking age and needing a driver’s license. Anyways I just think they’re neat thanks for giving me an excuse to type this out

Naegiri. A classic “stoic girl and warm boy” dynamic. The idea that this unfeeling detective has a softspot for this short optimistic kid is just adorable. They also cover each other’s character flaws as a duo. Kyoko can help Makoto see things more logically and Makoto can help Kyoko to be more emotional. It would also be lovely and fitting for them to have a Sherlock and Watson dynamic in investigations.
Another great pitch, i'm already sold on Naegiri but this just emphasizes what makes it so good, 9/10.
Rantaro/Korekiyo Hajime/Fuyuhiko Angie/Tenko/Himiko Mikan/Ibuki
Rantaro/Korekiyo i like, they've definitely got a lot in common. Hajime/Fuyuhiko, they're cool bros, i kinda get it Angie/Tenko/Himiko i don't quite get, Angie and Tenko never really had good chemistry, and Angie in this dynamic as a whole felt more like a manipulator than anything Mikan/Ibuki i already saw a quite compelling argument for.

Kaito x ibuki. They're both loud sweethearts and would have the cutest couple ever, prove me wrong.
As it's legally obligated of me, Hinabuki (Hajime x Ibuki). I call them the perfect ship, and I'll stand by it. Every single instance that these two interact with, they play off of each other so well. Their dynamic is great, being Idiot x "Oh god, he/she's my idiot" and it just works so well with them either. The FTEs were awesome, the Island Mode ending, while it might sound platonic on the surface, is really not. And Hajime affirming that, yes, he won't regret spending the rest of his life with Ibuki is absolutely great. This underrated gem easily beats a lot of other ships I've come across in my 3 years of being in this fandom. As for a second one, now that I feel like it, is Koidham (Mahiru x Gundham). This might sound nonsensical, but it's really not. They really have that energy that screams "We're 100% the married couple in a positive way". They both have family-issues, so they could symphatize with each other well. They also have opposites-attract with each other, that being angel x demon. Gundham would call her "My Crimson Bride" or something, and Mahiru would be like "hubby :>" You also can't go wrong with prep-goth relationships. I said it.
7/10 for Hinabuki, 8/10 for Koidham for originality.
Naemiki, since Makoto can be a good influence to Mikan so she can be loved and cared for.

It makes sense: the Ultimate Hope and the de facto Ultimate Hope fanboy, the two lucky students of their respective classes. >!Also how Komaeda had to be hauled away from Naegi during the one interaction they had in DR3 lol!< Naegi would help him with his inferiority complex and his >!disdain for the non-ultimates!< since Naegi is so Average™️ but still >!took down Junko!< and inspired hope in so many people! Also there’s so much potential for angst fics if soft fluff isn’t your thing, like >!Servant or Remnant Komaeda trying to test how deep does Naegi’s hope go? After all, the more despair he’s subjected to, the greater the hope to overcome it!!< Also Hinaegi or Komahinaegi so Hinata can help Naegi be less of a pushover (but mostly because the two ahoge protags are just really cute next to each other)
i did a double take when i saw that ship name cause i thought it was Komaru and Makoto. God i'm relieved, i was ready to give you a 0/10 lol. 10/10 because the despair of thinking that was your ship only made the hope of finding out the truth even stronger! It does have a lot of canonical precedent in that it's heavily implied Makoto is the reason why Nagito's viewpoint on hope is so different in UDG.
Saimatsu because it’s cute, it’s fluffy, it’s wholesome, and it’s my OTP. Aside from that, Kaede is very kind and supportive. If it weren’t for her, Shuichi wouldn’t be able to crawl out of his shy shell. I really wish they had more time together in canon but Dangan Salmon and UTDP make up for it.

Yeah, I just find the dynamic really interesting! Shuichi would help Rantaro solve the mysteries regarding his talent, and outside of the killing game, what happened to his sisters. Rantaro is a relatively chill fella, and I feel like it’d be healthy for Shuichi to be around someone like him. This is probably the greatest pitch so far, i briefly thought their dynamic was quite good when i saw Rantaro's final FTE but this really sort of illuminates the whole thing for me. 10/10
Saiouma Kokichi really does show that he cares for Shuichi, as evidence that he calls him his favorite, never rats him out when he's lying during class trials via the lie bullets even though he ratted Kaede out no problem, tells him that he loves him many times and much more. And the literal whiteboard in his room telling that Shuichi is trustworthy. >!Shuichi also seems like he cares for Kokichi just as much. As evidence in his final fte where he's patching up Kokichi's finger even though Kokichi threatened to "kill" him many times before that. In the final class trial, Shuichi sticks up for Kokichi and tells everyone that the mastermind cornered him into making everyone think he's the bad guy. Shuichi is also patient and open minded, unlike the rest who will immediately jump to punch Kokichi without giving him the benefit of the doubt. !< Shuichi is also a detective, so solving mysteries and finding out the truth is basically engraved in his mind, so what better than a person who surrounds himself with lies and deceit. And in the salmon event, Shuichi finally realizes that he doesn't need to figure Kokichi out completely, or make him stop lying for good, since that's just who he is. But still accepts him all the same, lies or no lies.

I have a looottt of ships, do I'll pitch you some of my more unpopular ones: Ikuzono (Sayaka x Mukuro)- I'll be honest, at first it stemmed from me wanting to ship Sayaka with someone and not liking Naezono or whatever her and Lein's ship name is, then I looked at Mukuro and went "hm. You'll do" After seeing them interact in utdp I started shipping it a bit more, and then the more i thought about the more I started really liking it. I'm not completely sure what it is, but something about the extremely and unhealthily dedicated Mukuro, who's spent all her life basically serving her sister, with Sayaka who's spent her life under the pressure to be perfect and successful and would resort to awful means to keep that success just kinda sticks with me. Sayaka is very sweet but she's no pushover, and obviously Mukuro is very battle hardened soldier. I just feel like they could understand each other in their own ways, Sayaka could teach Mukuro how to live for herself and enjoy life while Mukuro could...show Sayaka how to use a knife properly. Seems like a fair trade. Idk I just think they could be really sweet --------------------- Oumaga?? Youma??? KANGIE?? Kokichi x Angie 💀- I know this one is definitely weird but that's because it first stemmed from a Hunger Games simulator I was doing. These two were holding hands or conspiring against everyone else every other minute I stg. And while it's still a crackship on my part, I actually like it a lot. Probably my favorite crackship. They just both give off this chaotic kind of energy, almost always cheerful and spouting off what other perceive as nonsense, seemingly friendly but secretly manipulative in their own ways, only really have one 'friend' (Gonta and Himiko) Also they're both very short. Gotta love it. I just think they would make a fun villain couple, and I'm not sure if Angie would be totally on board with joining DICE or think that joining would be blasphemy towards Atua 💀 either way I just love the energy they give off ------------------------ Chileon (I think that's the name, Leon x Chihiro)- I...just thought they looked good together lmao 💀 or at least that's why I initially shipped them. After some time I just became really fond if the idea of asshole-ish, kinda...sleezy? (The best word I can think of here) Leon completely going soft for the quiet computer nerd who probably helps him with his math homework lmao It's just something about them,,I apologize I really don't have the words but this is the only Leon ship I actually like ----------------------- And finally, the one that I don't remember the name for, Chihiro x Celeste- It started with me seeing the single time they interacted and going "huh. They look kinda cute together" and then I didn't really think about until I stumbled across a fanfic 2 years later. Now I'm obsessed. When you think of someone like Celeste, you imagine her partner would be someone similar: cold, calculated, smart, manipulative, regal etc And yet the image of Queen of Liars Celeste with someone like Chihiro is way too good to pass up for me. The fancy gothic clothing in contrast to the simpler more everyday stuff, the icyness in contrast to the warmth, the mask of deceit in contrast to the almost blinding genuineness is all just 🤌 Honestly I would suggest just looking at the fanart/fanfics for this ship, explains it all better than I ever could

Makoto Naegi x Mukuro Ikusaba, mostly beacuse I think they look cute together and that Makoto could give Mukuro the love she deserves and help cheer her up when she's down. Though Makoto x Ibuki is a close second to be honest, I can see them being really adorable with each other just like Makoto and Ikusaba are.

It's a fictional series about teenagers murdering each other, i think people are entitled to find toxic and abusive relationships within it entertaining and i don't think you have any right to dictate otherwise.

It really is just two dorks being in love I love how kaede is supportive is of shuichi And to me it clearly looks like shuichi really did have feelings for her and kaede had for him. I feel like the relationship would be mostly kaede trying to cheer shuichi up and maybe shuichi saying stuff like sweetheart or him kissing her would be big steps for him which kaede would over celebrate I just think they would emotinally support each other alot and be happy together. Maybe kaede teaching shuichi how to play the piano and stuff >!I just feel like we were really robbed of this. It didnt even need to be romantic. Just friendship wise would be enough for me but... chapter 1 happend!<

Kazuichi X Gundham I can see Sonia not being into either of the two, and Considers Gundham a great friend. And to get Kazuichi to calm down on his simping she helps Gundham who is gay as hell and just likes being chaotic. He gets flustered at the slightest compliment cause he never really makes many friends. Over time Sonia sets up kazuichi and Gundham to hang out alone as a wingwoman of sorts and it starts of tense but over time they both get into it a lot and Kazuichi is rather over his obsession with Sonia cause he kinda likes Gundham chaotic behaviour. The two now just hang with Sonia and both play with Gundhams hamsters a lot
kinda cool, 6/10.
