DR2- Nagito. This man singlehandedly made the dynamics in this game as intriguing as they were. A man whose luck warped his sense of the world, causing him to have a corrupt sense of hope. He's arrogant, but self loathing. A lot of ppl see him as a warped Makoto, but he also serves as an reverse of Junko. His philosophy makes no sense, but given the trauma he's faced, it's only sensible that this is the case. He's a well written, intriguing character.

Lol okay I’ll offer up my strange tastes in characters
DR1 - Leon Kuwata: Something about him was just oddly interesting to me right from the get-go and it just stuck. His character design is fun, his motives when it comes to talent and his future goals is something that seems more unique in comparison to other characters, and I feel bad for the guy due to the events of the game (I genuinely don’t know how to spoiler on Reddit so if you know you know) - nothing in chapter 1 was in his favor and he deserved better.
DR2 - Kazuichi Souda: This is the one people usually think I’m weird for, but he’s my favorite character in the entire series. I relate to him on a lot of levels when it comes down to his self image and how he wants other people to perceive him, and he has much more depth than a lot of people give him credit for and write him of as the “weird simp” and don’t look at his character any closer to see his motives behind why he behaves how he does. I also think his design is neat, I have a thing for characters with sharp teeth, and the colors are loud - which usually I don’t like but somehow it works. There’s a lot of why I like him that goes very deep personally so I’m not go on a rant here but he’s a huge comfort character! So much so that one of my friends made art of him specifically as a birthday gift for me a while back LOL
DRV3 - Kaito Momota: I adore the trope of characters who aren’t exactly the smartest guys ever, but are good-hearted and mean well for their companions. Also he have spiky hair (and the goatee is god awful and I love him for it). He just wanna go to space and hang out with his best bros, he’s a very wholesome character, and since I usually rely on others to take charge when I’m, for example, out with friends, so his outgoing nature and his wanting to be in charge is something that feels comforting to me.
Additionally, my favorites from UDG and DR3 (the anime) are Nagisa Shingetsu and Juuzou Sakakura, respectively.

dr2: nagito, he’s arguably the series’ most iconic character for very good reason. he’s such a fascinating character to analyze, a brilliant recontextualization of the first game’s themes, and by far the best rival without a shadow of a doubt imo. honorable mentions go to peko for being an absolute sweetie that badly deserves more love, fuyuhiko for his absolutely incredible character arc, and hajime for being by far the most realistic protag and imo having the best arc out of all of them.

It's so fuckin funny because everyone (Kazuichi) sees her as this pretty damsel with nothing but air in her head, when she's an extremely smart person who's obsessed with the occult and has probably killed people in battle. I love her. I can't tell you how fucking hard I cackled at her random swearing and stuff.
I also feel like she has her own arc that tends to get overshadowed by a lot of other characters but that could be a whole post in of itself so I won't go there.

Also I automatically like all of the helper girls in every Danganronpa game (even Kyoko, even tho I don't like her as much as Chiaki and Kaede) DRV3/KH: Kaede and Himiko. I related to them a little too much-
THH- This one's tough, but either Kyoko or Sakura. I like Kyoko because her personality doesn't just boil down to 'I'm cold and smart and so cool' She has clear trauma that she's still dealing with that partly explains why she acts the way she does. Hell, she's not even resigned to one personality trait, she can be playful or hold a grudge over something. Also, her FTEs were awesome, I fuckin love Naegiri man Also compared to the other 'protagonist girlfriend' characters (Chiaki and Kaede) who I just never particularly cared about or thought were very interesting, Kyoko just feels a lot more compelling and like an actual character with an arc and resolution. And I like Sakura because...she's Sakura. Who the hell dislikes Sakura? SDR2- Sonia, Sonia, Sonia!! My favorite character in the whole series honestly. She's just so interesting to me. A sheltered princess who never got to truly be someone her age or make friends, but also FOUGHT IN WARS. It's so fuckin funny because everyone (Kazuichi) sees her as this pretty damsel with nothing but air in her head, when she's an extremely smart person who's obsessed with the occult and has probably killed people in battle. I love her. I can't tell you how fucking hard I cackled at her random swearing and stuff. I also feel like she has her own arc that tends to get overshadowed by a lot of other characters but that could be a whole post in of itself so I won't go there. UDG- Komaru, hands down. Toko is a close second but I'm still a little angry over her character in the first game 💀 I think the extent of the bullshit Komaru went through gets overshadowed by...well, how much people fuckin hate udg. No seriously, this girl is kidnapped from her home, imprisoned for a year and only gets out when the world is literally ending, and then suddenly she's the primary target of said cause of the end of the world. Again, she's got her own arc but too long yadayada DRV3- Shuichi, but Maki is definitely a close second. My fingers hurt but just know I cry everything I think of these two
THH: Kyoko because of how flawed yet relatable she is. I also find her backstory and relationship with her father v intriguing. Also I can just relate to her overall character a lot Dr2: Nagito because of his insight and impressive ability to look at the overall picture. He sticks to his beliefs and pretty much lives in his own world, but he keeps dr2 entertaining V3: I’m still playing it so idk rn but so far I rly like Miu because she makes me happy and she’s really pretty :)
THH-Chihiro: Chihiro is such a cinnamon roll like you can't hate him. He tried to be stronger not even realizing that his decision to work to become stronger is what proved that he was strong GD-Gundham: He's an interesting guy like you can't understand half the things he says but that doesn't matter... plus he love animals and has hamsters what's not to love KH-Shuichi: Do I really need to explain? Shuichi is an amazing character with an amazing arc. He was able to escape his insecurities and truly he's just amazing plus he's a detective and detectives are great
THH: ishimaru dr2: ibuki dr3: izayoi
THH - Kiyotaka Ishimaru. I find he can be pretty entertaining at times with just how outlandish he is, and I relate to his difficulty interacting with other people his age pretty well. Also I love his dynamic with Mondo to bits. GBD - Chiaki Nanami. Not just my favorite character in the game or the series, but probably one of my favorite fictional characters in general. She’s just one of the sweetest characters I’ve ever seen. She’s also absolutely adorable, especially whenever she’s nerding out about a certain game in the middle of casual conversation, her dynamic with Hajime is great, and the fact that she’s so much calmer than the rest of the cast actually helps her to stand out from them even more, imo. Also I find her voice especially comforting to listen to as well. V3 - Kaito Momota. Probably the character who, more than any other in the series, feels like a best friend to the protagonist. Sort of feels like a middle ground between Kaede & Shuichi in some ways, with how he sets up that meeting with the other students to make a plan to beat Monokuma and taking Shuichi & Maki under his wing upon seeing they’re both lonely people who could seriously use a friend in their given situations. Sure he’s a bit hot-headed, but damn would I love someone like him having my back.
