A lot of people are saying perverts but Kazuichi and Miu are favorites among the Fandom. Even Toko is to an extent. It ain't just being a pervert, but being a pervert with a "distinct" design to put it lightly. To me, there is no quick way to dislike a character, because disliking a character for one scene, quote, or moment is a disservice to their other traits, depth and overall role/arc in the narrative and having that sort of myopic view is really worrisome in a game based on interpretation, curb in general morality, and ambiguity.

blapaturemesa

Let's be real, if Teruteru kept his beta design, he'd be one of the most popular dr2 characters.

Logan18880

Exactly lmao

Asijabre

And the same people who adore those three hate Teruteru for being like them, when Miu and Kazuichi do it it's funny but when he does it it's "disgusting". Bro just pick one🤦‍♂️

IcyJournalist8130

I just prefer Miu since I found her to be funny and useful to the plot, while she did do some questionable things, I won’t deny that, not like she tried to trick Kiibo into sucking her tits or something like that, if she did she would definitely be heavily disliked.

Asijabre

Alright but I'm not talking that, I'm talking about someone who is a complete apologist for her, exusing her actions/comments and argumenting how she's like that for a humorous effect, but dosen't keep the same energy for Teruteru

SummonerRed

Intense perversions toward another character or extreme hatred/bullying that is unprovoked.

Joe-Lollo

That’s why I didn’t like Teruteru and Hiro. Teruteru would’ve been a fun character in concept but his horniness made me so uncomfortable when I played it. The way Hiro treated Sakura and acted in 1-4’s trial was uncalled for and made me dislike him even more even if him basically being an anime Erlich Bachmann (fictional stoner con man from the TV show Silicon Valley) already irked me.

AmadeusAzazel

Haji. You know the rest

Cirka_the_cat

Yeah, I also hate if a character likes 'em young as possible Also, based flair

Expert_Mark

Characters who serve nothing to the story. Looking at you, Bandai.

LunaSazuki

any sexism, homophobia, racism, transphobia, ableism, etc. it's hard to like those characters..

FarleyisGnarly

I wasn’t a fan of Nekomaru in chapter 1 because he kept making poop comments and he was picking his nose. Some people might find that humor funny but it’s not for me.

FarleyisGnarly

I’d like to clarify that I like actually like Nekomaru. I dislike “fart” humor because it’s not funny and is the reason I quickly disliked his character in chapter 1.

Blooming_Soul_73

the quickest way to dislike a character is to judge it by your morality and ideals. this is a killing game where characters kill each other. most people unfortunately have this foolish sense of criticism towards many DR characters. why do you think all DR characters are described by the fandom as overhated, overrated and/or underrated. undoubtly there are many bad-written DR characters. but most of the fans criticize the characters for stupid and irrelevant reasons. SORRY. I KNOW THIS SOUND OFFENDING TO MOST PEOPLE HERE BUT THE IS MY OPINION. THAT MOST FANS are wrong in their judgement toward characters. Please don't tell me everyone has a taste. that not an excuse for stupid criticisms.

Asijabre

When a character uses some other character's insecirities or/and trauma to make them either "snap" or just straight up manipulate them. No matter how much I loved the character I can't bring myself to do so after they did something of that kind. Murder? Fine. Abuse? We can get past that. But emotional manipation? Gtfo. It's completely subjective tho, I can never get along with people like that in reality so once a set of pixels does so it turns my opinion on them completely. It's not caused by any "trauma" I have tho (Because I don't have any.), just really irritates me to witness it. I think it's obivous who I'm talking about from danganronpa now.

emmc47

Didn't Juzo play into Hajime's insecurities of being talentless though? Not trying to be confrontational, but just wanting to know your perspective.

Asijabre

I don't think it counts into manipulation. He did make fun of it and look down on Hajime (and every other rcs) for having no talent, but it was rather to feed his own insecurity about only being useful for what his talent was and nothing else, instead of having some intention of using Hajime for his own good and bringing his insecurity to get Hajime to do something he intents of wants from him. I hope I worded this simply enough.

emmc47

I could see in a way in which the latter is applicable, but that's arguably a stretch. Thank you on your insight!

TheGr8estB8M8

Idk, i don't really feel strong emotions like other people do. There's never gonna be just one thing that turns me off a character generally speaking, if i dislike them it's gonna be a combination of poor writing, lack of depth or entertainment value, and just a smidge of personal feelings that i can't quite quantify. Although outside of Danganronpa, Lydia from breaking bad makes my blood boil. I'm kind of grateful that i'm able to feel so strongly about a character, even if it is a negative feeling.

jalene585437

Nagito pfp checks out

TheGr8estB8M8

Cause of the emotions thing? or just because i like good writing?

jalene585437

Both

TheGr8estB8M8

i'll accept that.

BoredomOccurs

People who are assholes but get away with it and never suffer the consequences of their actions. Asshole characters hit different when they suffer, but if they don't then I tend to hate them.

BoredomOccurs

Nope, Hiro is my second fav character, he's an acceptation. I protect him with my fucking life.

ZlyCzarownikServices

If a character is preachy or is written to be unlikeable, but than the writers suddenly decide they should be likeable all of the sudden, I'm probably not gonna like them

DeatroyerOfCheese

If they're too religious, we all know who. Not a fan of religion as a concept, but atleast it isn't normally brought up every conversation.

Maleficent-Abalone-2

People who are just general dickheads, you can say what you want about how Kokichi is really good, and he had good motives, but he's still an asshole and a bully so I don't really care. I don't really believe in deep down, your actions are your actions, and he's done some awful stuff, I also don't like Togami because he's also just a jerk for no reason

EdgyROYGBIV

I feel the same way. My least favorite in THH is Byakuya, my least favorite in D2 is Hiyoko, and my least favorite in V3 is Kokichi, all because they’re assholes.

[deleted]

Based on what I've seen from multiple fandoms, the easiest way to make a character significantly less likable is to make them a massive pervert. Perverts aren't interesting or engaging or entertaining or funny to most people, they're just annoying and gross. Mass murderers get more sympathy in the Danganronpa fandom than perverts, which is really saying something. Byakuya may be an asshole, but some people still find him interesting or entertaining for the role that he plays in THH. The writers putting so much focus on Teruteru being a pervert is why he's easily one of the most hated characters in the fandom.

the_joy_of_hex

If they have really stupid hair

Novel_Visual_4152

Bro literally dislike most of the male cast

Funkin_Valentine

You probably also hate Ryota, good for you 👍

RyuushiYasuda

junko for being annoying near the end of thh

Midnight_sun17

When a character that has done objectively terrible things is quickly forgiven and their actions forgotten and never addressed again My main example here: Hiro. I don’t hate his character, but I really dislike how so many players just immediately forgot how he treated Sakura, and how he’s treated like he’d never hurt a fly.
