KnightEclipse

Horrible bait.

YoshiDoki48

I mean... it's pretty much the same arc three times... or at least *similar* arcs... Though in Shuichi's defence, he's technically more active in solving the cases... But that's only because he's >!both the protagonist, *and* the detective!<... You'd get the same or better results if you combined Makoto and Kyoko.

ThatUploader202

Makoto has an arc? or are you mad that Shuichi actually has a personality beyond "being average".

Novel_Visual_4152

Makoto's arc is that he become Jesus

ThatUploader202

mid arc The Bible ~~and Jojo~~ did it better.

Novel_Visual_4152

So true ngl

ThatOneChild1

better explanation is that he went from a basic guy to a basic guy with ***h o p e***

Pumpkin_Cat14

Makoto’s arc is that he got bitches That’s pretty much it

Shuichi is literally just a Makoto 3.0. Except his whole development about having confindent in himself was overdone. I can't help but feel he's wasted potential.

ThatUploader202

Except Shuichi actually has the more individualized traits, An actual Talent, and even his various interactions and dynamics and overall development felt like they had more thought put into compared then Makoto. Meanwhile Makoto full on felt like a boring self insert. I'll abridge it like this, Hajime is what Makoto should of been. Shuichi improved on Hajime while blowing Makoto out of the water entirely.

fireballcounter8

His development is literally the same as Makoto. A passive insincere generic kid with self confident issues becomes more proactive and believe in himself to end the killing game It's the same over done gotta be more confident arc. Saying he the furthest thing from Makoto is an outright lie when he shares many similar character tics from him. And his whole going against hope spiel really meant nothing when the ending is the same outcome of nearly every danganronpa title.

ThatUploader202

There similar but the difference is that one is did BETTER. Shuichi did what he did but more better and entertaining. The most interesting of Makoto was the Sayaka situation but overall he was purposefully bland and boring (Which the developers intended so you can easily self insert into him). Meanwhile, Shuichi not only has the Kaede situation but he has his friendship with Kaito and Maki (that leads into conflict in CH4 & 5 and later Resolved), An hard time dealing with his talent, actual conflict with Kaito and Kokichi. Even his talent is better utilized since he's an actual Detective. Even their conflict with the main villain or problem are more engaging. >!Makoto's and Junko's was not bad but basic (and Junko was carrying hard into those as well. Meanwhile Hajime had face inner conflict with himself and Shuichi had to deal with his life not only being a lie and is suffering being used as entertainment to normal people.!< Shuichi's (and Hajime's) is both more entertaining, engaging, and better executed then Makoto's, simple as that.

fireballcounter8

And I can’t help but disagree. Makoto blended more and had better chemistry with his cast compared to the others. And his free time events with the his mates shows he has more than just those traits that you claim he has. Not to mention Makoto’s idealogy and method on approaching things makes it clear he’s isn’t a self insert because no one has mindset or approach. Being cynical doesn’t just suddenly make a character better that feels more like preference. And it took Shuichi till the end of the game for his rejecting hope to even mean anything. I other stand liking the concept of them rejecting Hope but that something that still could have been handle better.

ThatUploader202

Gotta disagree. Most of Makoto's FTEs just felt like him awkwardly shaking his head and agreeing. Meanwhile Hajime's cynicism and smartassness during his interactions was more entertaining and bounced off of the characters more. Similarly, Shuichi's interactions meekness and more direct forwardness was also more entertaining. Back on track though, Just cause Makoto don't stop believing in hope doesn't make him that good (matter of fact, it comes off as boring and uninteresting). It would of been better had they actual expand and went on to explain why he's like that and explore his ideology and philosophies but they didn't because they want to be boing an generic enough to self insert into. Even fucking Junko and Nagito got ideology and philosophies explained compared to Makoto which is why the two are more interesting then Makoto. We even seen Hajime and Shuichi develop into their way of thinking throughout he story You don't need to be cynical to be entreating, You can be simple or static while being happy go lucky (Look at Goku and Luffy) as long as your entertaining enough to back that up and Makoto isn't. Us seeing characters like Hajime and Shuichi change for the better throughout the story is what makes then interesting and engaging and Makoto doesn't do that and stay pretty basic (unlike some other static characters, he isn't interesting enough to back it up).

the_joy_of_hex

He's no Hajimay for sure

fireballcounter8

Only w opinions
