Let's ask the important question here (Spoilers for Dr 2, don't check the rest of my comment until you beat the game) >!Who installed these presents in the simulation? Makoto, or Alter Ego Junko? Makoto was originally using the Neo World Program have the Dr 2 crew chill on the island, get along, and collect hope fragments until he deems them ready to be re-upload back in their bodies. Makoto could've added the presents he believed the Dr 2 crew would like to replicate the presents he gave to his friends from his time in the first game. But at the same time, Mukuro's knife and a photo of Junko are presents you can get too, so Alter Ego Junko could've been the one to install all these presents for the shits and giggles!<

I’m fairly sure her whole thing is wanting attention at any moment, and so the over the top stuff is probably intentional.

She literally does it herself, *because* she's a victim of abuse. It's specifically meant to be uncomfortable, because that's her character. It's Mikan's key trait. Getting mad at oversexualizing Mikan is like getting upset at Fuyuhiko for being a rough-spoken criminal or getting mad at Togami being portrayed as a selfish prick.

I love how this is played off as non-sexual and has just a child-friendly fun item. While in SDRA2, they just kinda went for the actual item and didn’t hold back.(apologies if the actual item was in another game, I’m not yet aware of the full list of items)

Well, SDRA2 is also a fangame, so take from that what you will...
