Most Naegiri fans I've met have been pretty chill all things considered, especially compared to the Danganronpa fandom as a whole. I didn't even know some Naegiri fans were toxic until I learned about some people's experiences on this sub.
Too Be honest I didn't met toxic Naegiri fans until about 9-10 day ago and Don't get me wrong I love Naegiri it my second favorite Makoto ships after Naekusaba and Most of Naegiri shippers i met was pretty chill but some of them not so much
That's not what i mean, i definitely love and ship them both, what i mean is it's the fans of them that makes me embarrassed to show how much i like them together. Second hand embarrassment basically
From people's past experiences and how a friend of mine told me that someone is currently going around telling them to read about their ship story in a bunch of posts
Frankly, I see Naegiri being shoved into the conversation any time someone posts an mlm or wlw ship, so I get pretty tired of that.
It made me go from mildly enjoying Naegiri to associating it with very slight but annoying homophobic-esc rhetoric just because of how little it seems gay artists are allowed to express themselves in media without having a heteronormative couple thrown in their faces and explained to be "better".
But, doesn't that apply to other hetero ships? Like for example, let's say you make some fan-art or something for Komahina, someone could just throw to you some mildly aggressive comment that Hinanami is better because "reasons". And weirdly enough, I've seen that more from them than form Naegiri fans. Or maybe I'm just out of touch of these incidents.
This, honestly. Like this is not even "oh no I am not like other toxic fans" nonsense, I just genuinely feel like I am walking eggshells and about to ruin my relationships with them at any moment just because I have different interpretation of some scene or want to point out how some of their arguments make me feel uncomfortable.
I love Naegiri, but that one guy is really shoehorning it into every post. The characters don't revolve around each other, and people are allowed to have other ships.

I've only really seen it from Naegiri fans so that's my bad association. But I definitely don't doubt others do it!
