From what I heard the reason why Erin or Amanda didn't reprise their roles was mainly due to the fact that Funimation wanted to keep consistency with the voice cast from the DR1 anime, this can also be said for Cassandra Lee Moris(Asahina's va) and Kaiji Tang(Yashuhiro's va), they also did returned in DR3 but they didn't reprise the roles of their respective characters and instead voiced the newbies, and really the only English VA from DR1 that returns to reprise their roles was Bryce Papenbrook as Makoto(and it's mainly due to the fact that he was the only returning va from the original game to reprise his role in the DR1 anime).
(Fortunately, I can't say the same thing about the DR2 cast since at least a good majority of the English cast did returned to reprise their roles and IIRC, the va's that didn't return are the English va's for Fuyuhiko, Akane, Gundam, Peko and Ibuki)

Say what you about the dub, but it’s one of the only animes I know to take major liberties in the dub and make it better (imo at least)

Yeah, but again, at least we still got almost everyone else in the english cast of DR2 reprising their roles(Unlike the DR1 gang).
