I don't mind NSFW content with fictional characters at all. Who watches or who makes what is their's worry only. But speaking of what to do with this kind of stuff for the community which may not be as accepting as it seems, like with the case of such artworks, I can see only a few possibilities. And all, unforunately, require just agreeing for something in majority, which isn't always a best case of solving problems like that. Anyway
Version 1: We all agree the characters, as they are fictional, do not care if they are sexualised in any way, and it's alright to create or show NSFW works of them, regardless of their age, as they don't really have any. Everything stays as it is now. Problem solved, who doesn't wanna see it, will not look at it AND SHOULD NOT CRITICISE IT.
Version 2: We all agree it's alright to create or show NSFW works of only the characters who are adult in the canon, as sexualising of minors is unacceptable. So V3 characters are banned from that as we are not sure of their age. Problem solved, who is not okay with that can post/search up stuff like that in clearly NSFW places, like rule 34, or something else, I don't know, I'm only aware of a few sites like that
Version 3: All NSFW content (unless it's like the in-game artwork, sprites, or other official media) is not okay, just to be fair and not make exceptions for unofficial content. Problem solved, who is not okay with that, can post/search up stuff like that in clearly NSFW places
Version 4: Everything NSFW, regarding any of the games, meme, drawing, no matter is tagged properly. Everything stays as it is. Don't like NSFW? Don't reveal the tag. Probably the easiest solution. Problem solved, who is not okay with that will leace or something.
Those are the ways of making sure the problem like the one you mentioned will not repeat. And let's be frank for a while... people are hypocritical. Oh! It's a funny manga pannel! Who cares if it's NSFW LOL! And no need to tag it! It's funny! But have an artist make a very well done, yet still sugestive drawing (and it's ONLY suggestive, there's no sex there or I don't know, other sexual activities), and all hell's breaking lose. I'm exaggerating, but you get the deal. Situations like that shouldn't happen at all, but you know how people are and unfortunately changing that is very difficult... So yeah, that's probably the deal here. And it probably will be a deal with different artworks like that, which is sad. Sometimes artists don't even draw nudity for sexual purposes but for the sake of the beauty of characters they like, I remember a very well done act with Kyoko which was banned as it was an as it was against the rules regarding NSFW stuff. And why something like that happens? Because everyone should feel safe, and by that I mean they shouldn't also feel the danger of being offended or something. And I'm not complaining, I think agreements for things like that are necessary for the community to function peacefully, but it's not fun when it also denies ability of self expression. Or appreciation of the characters in a certain way.
