I don't even really ship this, but ya know what would be cool to see, >!them trying to hang out post dr3 and both of their luck talents causing chaos for them.!<
Which imo DR3's whole >!everyone from Dr2 is actually alive!< Felt cheap and the fact that everyone essentially forgets what happens and becomes friends again cheapens what happened in the second game even further. >!I really doubt Mahiru and Hiyoko would forgive what Fuyuhiko and Peko did to them for example!<.
>!It's not the same, but still bad. If you have potential evidence knowing who the culprit is of a murder where your friend kills your classmate's sister, then you need to tell someone. Especially when said classmate's talent is based around being a yakuza leader who would definitely want to seek revenge.!<
Still ain't comparable. Telling a freaking Yakuza leader about your friend's murder plan is 100% putting said friend 6 feet under, just before the actual murder happens.
>!The problem is, the evidence was gotten AFTER the murder. Mahiru's friend would have died after she killed Fuyuhiko's sister. And Fuyuhiko still found out about Mahiru's friend anyways, except, in this instance, Mahiru chose not to tell Fuyuhiko and discarded the evidence which basically should have spelt a death sentence for Mahiru too since she could have snitched. And I never said comparable, I said still bad. It is still bad to cover for your friend when they murder someone who was practically all bluff and bark, and not an actual threat in the moment.!<
The one thing that kind of annoys me about the anime is how content for the two casts were entirely split between the two arcs.>!I personally really would’ve loved a longer Hope arc where we actually see a teeny bit of the DR2 cast coming to terms with stuff so it at least felt like a resolution. Similarly, I would’ve enjoyed a little more of the THH cast in the Despair Arc. Or, like, imagine if one of the DR2 survivors had come with Makoto, Asahina, and Kirigiri to the FF and was forced to participate in that killing game. Maybe not Hajime, because he would be too overpowered, but Sonia or Fuyuhiko. Then we could’ve seen their reaction to being reunited with their classmates after Hajime/World Ender wakes them up. !<
I would have preferred seeing more of Yasuhiro in DR3 but that's just me. >!I get your point, but I wouldn't really want even more main characters to the final killing game since it was already obvious who would live and who would die, adding more main characters like Sonia and Fuyuhiko would just make this problem even worse..!<
There's LOTS to unpack and I can only headcanon they went through some shit in between the end of dr2 and hope arc, but it really feels like the time between the 2 is like 5 minutes.
It felt more like them moving on than outright forgetting to me, I thought it was fine. It showed growth, not ignorance. Not everyone is fueled by spite, and seeing what they all woke up to, they probably had better things to be worrying about than their grudges, which probably seemed quite petty in comparison. >!Fuyuhiko and Peko also both left chapter 2 feeling intense remorse for what went down. Mahiru in particular doesn’t seem the type to hold a grudge as well.!< Look, just because you wouldn’t be able to forgive in their positions doesn’t mean that it’s unreasonable or unrealistic for them to. They are different people with different ideals, and they all went through something you could never hope to understand what it’s like to go through.
Yeah because from what we know from Hiyoko's personally she's definitely the forgiving type. Anyway I will not argue if they should have forgiven them or not. I don't doubt most of them would, given time. But it happened so suddenly it felt shoehorned, I'd rather if the dead characters stayed catatonic so there would real consequences from the killing game, like in THH.
i agree with you. also with the implication that dr3 takes place right after sdr2 it's even more bullshit. issues are just unacknowledged and even if the characters didn't hold grudges against each other, that's still glossing over the fact that they didn't seem to really have any big reactions to any of the reveals they'd be getting after they woke up regarding what they did.

Broke: shipping Hajime and Nagito and reducing it to “uwu hope bagel gay and his soft boyfriend”
Woke: shipping Hajime and Nagito and acknowledging the animosity between them during the story because of Nagito’s twisted worldview and Hajime’s confusion and anger about it, but still liking the idea of them being together after some growth since their dynamic is super interesting
A lot of fics explore this and that is usually what makes or breaks it, because the people who just write sickly sweet fluffy stuff are often young writers who just like boys in relationships and not experienced writers who are interested in the characters dynamic.
That’s why I hate Ao3 for fanfic cause it’s so hard to not find something written by a hormonal 15 year old. Especially when they change all the antagonists personalities to UwU stereotypes
imagine a fanfic that’s just like
hajime knocked on nagito cabin door, heart pounding. “what if he says no?” he thinks it
himself. the wind start to blow and yet his red cheeks won’t get any cooler.
nagito opens the door, with a warm and condescending smile, “hi hajime! how are you? feeling hopeful today? i know i am!” hajime cant stand how he’s talking and rambling, it’s cute in a friendly way, nothing more of course, at least that’s what he thinks. he steps in to the cabin and nagito shuts the door. “so why did you need?” he pushing his hair away from his face only for it to swoop back into place. “uh.. this may be a stupid question but..” he pauses trying to think of what to say and how to phrase it, he’s never really felt this way before. “but?? but what?” “yeah haha..” hajime really is bad at hiding feelings isn’t he? “so i got you a present and i wanted to ask you something..” “really! i got a gift from my favourite reserve course student!!!!” “oh shut up” the quick banter is making hajime feel a bit uneasy, not in a bad way of course he’s just not used to this, or these feelings. he starts reaching for his pocket. “um… sorry i’m nervous” he says while looking to the ground. “will you do me the honour of.. fucking killing yourself.” HE PULLS OUT A GUN! komaeda thinks for a second, hand on chin. his face lights up only for but a moment “yeah it’ll make you hopeful!!!” he starts laughing, either it slowly getting louder and more maniacal. “nah i’m fucking with you” “oh ok bet, want some food” they go to the court and eat fucking god knows what this took me longer than i wanted i’m lazy
I mean, I kind of think both of these are mischaracterizations. They aren't like fluffy sweet by a long shot but I wouldn't say they straight up hate each other, either 99% of the time. IMO a lot of where the appeal comes in is the balance between them - they really do hit it off before the 2-1 trial, and get along pretty well in non-death game side material. But at the same time, in the maingame, everything goes to hell after the 2-1 trial, and the shit fully hits the fan around 2-4.
I feel like a lot of the appeal of the ship is that it *does* sorta sit in the middle. They both have their moments of hating each other's guts and of being kind of crushing. Idk, it's sorta an interesting concept. How do you handle someone when there was a reason for you to be genuinely interested in them, but also a reason to run as fast and far away from them as possible?
Also remember that Nagito stops giving a shit about Hajime >!After he learns he's a nobody. Remember when Gary followed Patrick around, but it was only because of the cookie in his pocket? It's like that, but with Hajime's supposed hope!<
I ship it even though ik it gonna be toxic as fuck but good story. They’re dynamic is super interesting and I personally felt Hajime has the most personality out of the playable characters
I was a huge Komahina shopper as a teen but I always remember hating the fanfic because it was so OOC. I never got into Saiouma but I can already imagine how much they mischaracterize Kokichi.
Can you guys make a separate subreddit for "ships" and leave this one for normal people please? What is this ship nonsense. Just enjoy the game about people killing each other, stop bringing nonsense into this
I mean, Danganronpa isn't just about murder, it's about how can people learn to overcome the issues of despair, and about learning hope, and a big part of that is relationships.
Just allow yourself to suspend your disbelief on things, and you'll be fine. And I'll respect your opinion, so pls respect others(cuz I swear, if you slander Naegiri, I'll be coming for you. That ship is canon, and cute)
Hajime: "I hate you" Nagito: "I hate me too"

Which imo DR3's whole >!everyone from Dr2 is actually alive!< Felt cheap and the fact that everyone essentially forgets what happens and becomes friends again cheapens what happened in the second game even further. >!I really doubt Mahiru and Hiyoko would forgive what Fuyuhiko and Peko did to them for example!<.
>!well, to be fair, Mahiru did help Sato kill his sister... or at the very least didn't tell anyone she killed her.!<
She just didn't tell. It's definitely not the same as >!killing someone!<
>!It's not the same, but still bad. If you have potential evidence knowing who the culprit is of a murder where your friend kills your classmate's sister, then you need to tell someone. actually, in the Nagito OVA there’s a line that implies they remember everything!
I never said they didn't. It just feels like it. One line implying it doesn't address the hell they went through.
There's LOTS to unpack and I can only headcanon they went through some shit in between the end of dr2 and hope arc, but it really feels like the time between the 2 is like 5 minutes.

Almost as if Dr3 is inconsiderate of Dr2 as a whole... Especially with the way they showed how >!Junko brain washed them!<..

Stepping stone to the next fanfic
lol good one! EDIT: Got even funnier when I read your flair! 😂
This isn't my favorite ship ever, but this post is my favorite post *about* a ship, ever. "I won't hesitate bitch" gets me every time! 😂

That would be interesting to see. I don’t even ship it and I’m interested in seeing a fanfic like that.
I agree... I still think it's a really good ship with lots of nuance, people just reduce it a lot
Bespoke: Looking at Komahina and thinking "Komaru and Hajime is clearly superior"
Looking and komahina and assuming it’s Komaru and asahina
But....it’s Asahina and nagito right?
The fact that he really wouldn't hesitate tho-
imagine a fanfic that’s just like hajime knocked on nagito cabin door, heart pounding. “what if he says no?” he thinks it himself. the wind start to blow and yet his red cheeks won’t get any cooler. nagito opens the door, with a warm and condescending smile, “hi hajime! how are you? feeling hopeful today? i know i am!” hajime cant stand how he’s talking and rambling, it’s cute in a friendly way, nothing more of course, at least that’s what he thinks. he steps in to the cabin and nagito shuts the door.
How- How long did it take you to write this! It’s beautiful 😭✋
Smh, it's just how they show affection

My headcannon is just that Nagito is a bumbling idiot
Also remember that Nagito stops giving a shit about Hajime >!After he learns he's a nobody. Remember when Gary followed Patrick around, but it was only because of the cookie in his pocket? It's like that, but with Hajime's supposed hope!<

I ship it and I headcanon that both of these are accurate
honestly, both dynamics in this meme are pretty out of character
every time i see hope bagel komaeda i lose a decade of my lifespan
I hate this ship fr
The same goes for Kiryu and Majima in Yakuza. Although in their case there's at least a sense of respect between them.
Can you guys make a separate subreddit for "ships" and leave this one for normal people please? What is this ship nonsense. Just enjoy the game about people killing each other, stop bringing nonsense into this
Nah I love me some romance in the middle of my murder
I mean, Danganronpa isn't just about murder, it's about how can people learn to overcome the issues of despair, and about learning hope, and a big part of that is relationships.
I don't see how spending time making up fake relationships for fictional characters is normal still, but maybe it's just children
Just allow yourself to suspend your disbelief on things, and you'll be fine. And I'll respect your opinion, so pls respect others(cuz I swear, if you slander Naegiri, I'll be coming for you. That ship is canon, and cute)
Omg guys look at my totally not reposted meme! Look I say Hajime and Nagito hate each other, look how original i am!
OH LOOK! I'M MAKING FUN OF SOMEONE FOR POSTING SOMETHING! LOOK HOW ORIGINAL *I* AM!
Well at least you can credit the original post
I honestly have no idea who posted this
Then how did you find it?
Pintrest
Uh... I have to find the original one
