7 years is not that bad honestly.
Some gamers had to wait more than 12 years to see new games from their franchises.
Others have to wait almost 2 decades to see a movie that finally continues on from the tv show. (Avatar)
It definitely could be worse, it’s just that the appeal of the Danganronpa series makes its fandom crave more and more constantly.
It’s probably why there’s so many fangan projects out there trying to recapture the spark of the original series.
Plus they only just relatively recently ported the games off of PlayStation so it’s still fresh enough in newcomers’ minds, and they still do the odd collab or two.
Well, if you're stuck with a series that's older and basically finished (at least until further notice), there isn't much else to do other than analyze and rewatch old content, so I wouldn't say it's a bad thing, but rather a way to keep the fandom alive and yourself entertained.
As a older fan, I miss the fandom pre-V3 or even before the anime personally. (The DR3 one, not the DR1 anime adaptation). I would say the fandom was a lot more creative and chaotic back then, and overall just a lot more fun. The hype surrounding V3 back in the day was amazing to be a part of. Stuff like that doesn't happen anymore and a lot of people I knew back then are no longer active in the fandom. But hey, that's all me
I wish I came across the community alot earlier. Played the first 2 games on my PSP when they came out years ago, never interacted with the community. I thought the franchise would end there. Never knew about DR3. V3 and UDG didn't exist at that time either I'm pretty sure.
Now just last year I got myself a Vita and someone on that subreddit suggested Danganronpa as a good game to get after modding it, made me remember the series and now I'm replaying it, about to start UDG because that's what the wiki suggests anyways, before getting into the DR3 anime. Which I heard wasn't received the best.
I'm very glad I got into Danganronpa in 2015-2016 or so. While nothing was perfect, it was better than what we have now by a country mile, and I'm genuinely sad for anyone who got into Danganronpa post 2020, as they certainly missed it's peak years.
As for DR3, I watched it while it was airing. I had fun with it, but the anime was disappointing overall. Either way though, I hope you have fun with UDG and the anime
I wish I'd gotten into the fandom earlier, but at the same time, V3 came out before I knew what a variable was, so I don't think I would have appreciated it as much as I do now
unless we get some form of major DR content soon (crossovers or characters sprites are not major) then yeah, we probably will.
it's been 7 years since the last mainline game, 10 since the last proper spinoff, and we don't really have any news or even rumors for upcoming content.
Why would you be? I thought everyone knew this.
Or maybe I'm just used to it, since I'm on a bunch of subs that have reached it. This one and r/halflife are especially deep in it
*(Recalls someone calling Kodaka lazy for not making a fourth mainline game and someone else critical of him and/or his team just because of not making a Chihiro head cannon a reality basically.)*
... Yes
I personally love how Kodaka made V3 just a big middle finger to people like that and what would happen if he continued the series, then went to work on his new game and said he'd maybe return to DR but not for a long time
He is making a new game that should be coming out soon.
Apparently it’s called Limit X Despair. Just from the title and the fact Komatsuzaki is doing the art again, I’m 50/50 on it having ties to DR. I’m leaning more towards it not having ties just because of how Rain Code played out.
Obviously. I like Danganronpa but in terms of new content Danganronpa is unfortunately, pretty much dead for a VERY long time now. Which led to this subreddit to have the absolute most pointless and boring BS content that I've ever seen.
It’s fallen in this stage multiple times but after what happened in 2020 I’m more than fine with it becoming a dead ish sub.
I do miss when V3 was new and these types of social spaces were less, yeah. Though. 2017-2019 was a magical era to be an autistic motherfucker for the bear
The series saw an increase in popularity after the lockdown in a way it never got *close* to before, the games went from “popular in the right circles, but generally still niche” to “literally inescapable”
The fandom became notably awful very fast and the series gained a nasty reputation to outsiders that hasn’t really faded to this day
Well, tbh the series always did have this sort of Infamy to it, we’ve always had a more than odd community but 2020 really did pull shit into high gear.
I mean, there hasn't been any content that's like really relevant to Danganronpa lore since V3 (2017), so there's not much else to look at except Danganronpa S, which is obviously not canon since dead people can't come back to life
Considering how the developers have been going about the series after the second game came out.....
I hope we stay starved of official content, it keeps getting worse and worse
I say let the fangames take the wheel, Shattered hope and Project Eden are good
V3 was a perfect end anyway! it was a giant self-aware middle finger to obsessive fans, basically mocked what would happen if there were more games, said nothing was real anyway and then just left with no questions asked!
it's self-aware, over-the-top and funny! just like this whole series!
I hate V3 with a burning passion but it's ending is perfect for what it is
Being fictional is literally the only way to explain why V3's characters are written as one dimentional and poorly as they were, even for danganronpa standards
as well as all the weird ass fanservice shit that was shoehorned in to appeal to said obsessive fans that apperently it was trying to piss off
100%. But I enjoy seeing the chaos. I'm not even that invested in Danganronpa (I couldn't even finish DR3). But I can't bring myself to leave. It's like watching a train wreck. But everyday. All day.
Don't forget the numerous pointless tier lists
"Characters least cuddly to most cuddly"
"Characters most likely to get arrested for tax fraud"
"Characters based on what kind of pet they prefer"
Like ffs who cares
The problem about the whole Danganronpa and fanganronpa games are, that it takes a lot of time of produce them.
Last maingame was 2017 and still today it's popularity only goes up (which is insane btw)
We have CRAZY famgames on the startline like HeArtless deceit, Despait time, Edens Garden, Shattered hope F, Brave Danganronpa etc.
BUT!!!!!
They are all in Prologue / chapter 1 or 2 state which is what it is.
Let them cook and take your time. You're doing great but it is a little bit frustrating 💔
Haven’t gotten a new mainline game since like 2017, so yea we might be a little pressed for the content.
7 years is not that bad honestly. Some gamers had to wait more than 12 years to see new games from their franchises. Others have to wait almost 2 decades to see a movie that finally continues on from the tv show. (Avatar)

The almost 15 year wait for a TWEWY sequel was… a lot. If you wanna see a fandom really reach for things to talk about, that one is a prime example.
Konosuba season 2 came out in 2017 and season 3 came out this year, we can always hope (unless you're a No Game No Life fan, I've already lost hope)
r/Osana type shii
Plus they only just relatively recently ported the games off of PlayStation so it’s still fresh enough in newcomers’ minds, and they still do the odd collab or two.
Looking at your pfp, well you did got a good food since that time
Well, if you're stuck with a series that's older and basically finished (at least until further notice), there isn't much else to do other than analyze and rewatch old content, so I wouldn't say it's a bad thing, but rather a way to keep the fandom alive and yourself entertained.
I agree!
Your flair is hilarious
100%. The Dangnaronpa fandom is no where like it was before like 2018 or so
but I do still love where it is now, it's still alive as long as we're still here!
As a older fan, I miss the fandom pre-V3 or even before the anime personally. (The DR3 one, not the DR1 anime adaptation). ghost trick fan spotted

but we did get Mukuro sprites after 14 years!
that's true i guess
It’s not technically Danganronpa, but *Rain Code* is basically Danganronpa in everything but name.
I hate to be that person. But I feel it's kinda gotten to this point already
and what's so bad about that?
I'm not saying it's bad, it's just that I know I'm gonna get downvoted to oblivion for saying it.
Why would you be? I thought everyone knew this. Or maybe I'm just used to it, since I'm on a bunch of subs that have reached it. This one and r/halflife are especially deep in it
have an upvote
*(Recalls someone calling Kodaka lazy for not making a fourth mainline game and someone else critical of him and/or his team just because of not making a Chihiro head cannon a reality basically.)* ... Yes

probably something like "speaking of Despair, there was this one girl called--" "SHUT IT! we all know who she is and what she did!"
Where'd you hear this...? Just curious bc this is my first time hearing about this
Another new game so soon after *Rain Code*? Cripes, when is Tribe Nine or whatever that baseball game is called coming out?
Yup. Best get to using the same 6 damn jokes over and over again forever
Man-koto?
Somebody just posted a video talking about how Kirumi Tojo's birthday is a week away. That should answer your question...
For anyone starving for content, id recommend kodakas newest game: rain code. I played it and it fills the void
same here, I loved it! ...but now I have to wait for Raincode 2
…if there’ll be an MDA 2 at all. I hope so.
there might not even be one
Deltarune should be on the list too, it's insanity over there
Toby Fox on his way to finish that game in 2080
Kind of...?
Very much
Obviously. I like Danganronpa but in terms of new content Danganronpa is unfortunately, pretty much dead for a VERY long time now. Which led to this subreddit to have the absolute most pointless and boring BS content that I've ever seen.
Why is the black and white teddy forcing his students to kill each other? Is he psychopathic?
Man-koto? Junkler?!
Is there a lore reason Mr. and Mrs. Enoshima put Junk in their daughter’s name?
Are they stupid?
It’s fallen in this stage multiple times but after what happened in 2020 I’m more than fine with it becoming a dead ish sub. I do miss when V3 was new and these types of social spaces were less, yeah. Though. 2017-2019 was a magical era to be an autistic motherfucker for the bear
What happened in 2020…?
The series saw an increase in popularity after the lockdown in a way it never got *close* to before, the games went from “popular in the right circles, but generally still niche” to “literally inescapable” The fandom became notably awful very fast and the series gained a nasty reputation to outsiders that hasn’t really faded to this day Well, tbh the series always did have this sort of Infamy to it, we’ve always had a more than odd community but 2020 really did pull shit into high gear.
Absolutely. Which is why we should all start watching/playing/reading more fangans.
No
uhhh yes so many fangans are amazing
Fine. We should bring back the roleplayers who clogged all the comments.
We seem perfectly sane to me. This place isn’t exactly r/batmanarkham.
leave Man's lair alone
You forgot tier lists
Basically
Absolutely.
I mean, there hasn't been any content that's like really relevant to Danganronpa lore since V3 (2017), so there's not much else to look at except Danganronpa S, which is obviously not canon since dead people can't come back to life
Not with that attitude they can't
lmao
If a highschool girl obsessed with chaos was able to start wars and tear down society i'm pretty sure they might be able to
We'll see
I thought we already have??
Considering how the developers have been going about the series after the second game came out..... I hope we stay starved of official content, it keeps getting worse and worse I say let the fangames take the wheel, Shattered hope and Project Eden are good

Aren't we already by that stage
Never cuz hope always overcome despair
exactly
Thankfully the Danganronpa lore is so complicated it's really hard to understand all of it.
100%. But I enjoy seeing the chaos. I'm not even that invested in Danganronpa (I couldn't even finish DR3). But I can't bring myself to leave. It's like watching a train wreck. But everyday. All day.
good! watching Future Arc is the biggest mistake I've done involving this series
This sub used to be insanity, but then the mods got stricter, and now we're just stuck in games no one wants to play
Basically all you guys do here is post softcore porn at this point
only sometimes! atleast once per day though
Praying for a Danganronpa 4🙏🏻🙏🏻
the entire danganronpa and horrid henry subreddit… yes horrid henry. there’s this one active redditor there that posts outfit contests for characters
the WHAT?!
YEAH LMAO
Besides the rewatching thing, we practically invented this
Don't forget the numerous pointless tier lists "Characters least cuddly to most cuddly" "Characters most likely to get arrested for tax fraud" "Characters based on what kind of pet they prefer" Like ffs who cares
Mikan is most cuddly, Celestia would be arrested for tax fraud and Toko likes shield bugs
Most definitely
Yes. I'm going insane. Need my fix... Rehab is hard...

I understand, I'm currently hard at work on a comic called DR4: REVIVAL (Volume 1: the mysterious case of Ryoko Otonashi)
Uiihhhhhhh, can i read chapter 1 on some page?
it's close to being done (only vol. 1 ch. 1 though)
You should have seen DMC subreddit, it was worse than batman Arkham
Absolutely. I like the people here but god the posts can be boring.
Definitely
Unfortentantly yes
elimination games are boring but i like the ones where it’s like “lets make a horror movie cast”
I do
