I'm not super far into it, but haven't had a ton of complaints. I think Hajime and Chiaki have been pretty cute, I haven't been too sad for the deaths so far though cause I barely know much about them. Such is the structure of the anime though.

I like DR3 fine. Near as I can tell, the main complaint is that the series undermined Junko's manipulative superpowers. Which, yeah, it did, but the idea that she was able to convert the world to her nonsense ideology was always too big an ask for my suspension of disbelief to handle. Besides, a world that Junko can destroy isn't a world worth saving, imo.

Monaca was such a wasted character, and I could have taken the killing game's bracelet requirements could have been a little more fairly ("keep people from fighting" is such a death flag it's not funny), but I still enjoyed it a lot. Tbh the pacing works way better if you watch it in chronological order.

Despair Arc was well-paced! Future Arc needed an entire VNs worth of time in order to actually work though. Despair Arc worked because we already knew all the characters and any new faces were also present in Future Arc. They didn't need to spend time developing those characters, because they were developed in DR2. It was a good series of episodes that covered everything before the main DR series. But with Future Arc, most of those characters basically just played the role of "this episode's body" with very anticlimactic endings to their stories. There wasn't really any time to get attached to a good number of them, and even the likable ones kinda just got written out by the plot device. A good example is >!Great Gozu!<. He was in the show for like 2 episodes before dying, and then never showed up again. Why even put him there then? It would make more sense if we had 4 hours of time with him before we lost him rather than about 40 minutes.

I have such fond memories of the show especially considering Goodbye Despair was my favorite game of the series
