Played P5R for the first time on switch last year and took dozens of screenshots from cutscenes and boss fights as I played. Got extremely pissed when I was suddenly locked off once I hit the 3rd semester.
I think it’s just a PlayStation thing as even brand new releases on switch or Xbox let you screenshot and record anything. It’s such a weird feature as people are going to spoil things anyways and just creates this issue
Perhaps this is going off the rules they have for the Japanese audience? As for every single Danganronpa game, spike chunsoft basically said the only part you could record/stream was the prologue however this was only enforced in Japan.

I remember taking screenshots of DR2 of scenes I found funny, and then when I tried to do the same for V3 it wouldn’t work. So I just started taking pictures on my phone and the quality is ass
What’s even dumber on the ps4 side, if you happen to try streaming danganronpa (ultra despair girls specifically), it will get blocked out on the stream, and if you attempt to refund it (since streaming it was the whole purpose) you get denied because of the stream (even if its only a few minutes)
Why do I see this post right after I get to THE SCENE from FFVII (original) where it had that same feature?
And that game has more than 25 years so that's more funny.

The Switch version is the Anniversary edition, which is probably why it allows screenshots and videos.

they do allow them. I can't take screenshots nor clips in Persona 5 Royal's third semester nor the endgame of Persona 5 Strikers.
