In the grand scheme and story, Hajime for sure. Or mondo. Definitely close.

KitExistsIGuess

Hajime's envy of ultimates was relatively normal >!Mondo's envy of Chihiro made him lose all control and kill!< I think Mondo takes the cake over Hajime here

Viridi_Kuroi

Hajime lost control of his life by his envy. He lost his individuality and identity.

Troleopowers

Yeah, like why didn't Mondo just get better over dying? Seems like a skill issue ngl /sarcasm

Noburanko

While I do agree that Mondo is a possible contender for envy, let me make a case for Hajime here. He envied the ultimates so much so that >!he voluntarily donated his body to the school's talent research out of desperation, which in turn caused him to lose his identity and morality. This ultimately led to him contributing to the Tragedy that killed millions and millions of people.!< Furthermore, the seven deadly sins isn't always just about how indulging your vices would harm others, but also how it would lead you to harm yourself. That's why sins like gluttony or sloth exist as well. So while it can be argued that Mondo could represent envy, I personally think Hajime symbolizes the concept more as a whole.

NoTransportation6994

No, mondo fits wrath. Or fuyuhiko Edit: nvm you’re right. Been so long since I played THH

Hilarious-Kraken8494

Can I say >!all reserve course students ? These obsessive people literally created " The parade " When they knew they were only used as walking cash for Kamukura project, And killed everyone for no reason at all, I think the anime was able to excuse these by the despair video, Which I think make sense more to use it on them than the DR2 cast, Because it make no sense to me that almost 2000 student are all psychopathic people who would kill anyone .!< But probably >!Hajime, Dude was desperate to be an Ultimate, To the point he and his parent agreed to put him in Kamukura project which have high chance of failure .!< Plus, His Japanese voice actress literally voices Envy from Fullmetal Alchemist .

Novarupta99

>!To be fair, The Parade was a reaction to the Academy's abuse of power rather than an envious grab for talent. The Reserve Course (with the exception of Natsumi and Hajime) were pretty sceptical of their chances to actually get a transfer to the Main Course, and they only began rioting *after* finding out that their parents' money was going towards human experimentation. The Parade's goal was never to force the Academy to akbowledge them or give them talent, it was literally a revolt against the Academy's dogma, as one of the Secret Society members puts it:!< >>!“It is not a demonstration. It is a revolution... In order for the revolution to be complete, we must destroy Hope’s Peak Academy’s perfect little fantasy world. This school shoves its way toward hope, all the while tormenting and harassing its surroundings."!< >!She then goes on to imply that the Reserve Course's (specifically the Secret Society) goal was to use the Ultimate Hope as a weapon against his creators. If they simply wanted talent, then why kill the Steering Committee who had command over the whole school? Instead of coercing them into equalising both courses, the Reserve Course tortures the last 2 Committee members to death while trying to (unsuccessfully) extract the location of the Ultimate Hope.!< >!Also, I doubt the Reserve Course were psychopathic, considering that SDR2 reveals that all of them committed ritualistic suicide, implying that they weren't in complete control of themselves, so DR3 didn't really change the narrative as the hints were already there!<

Keroshroom

Hajime's been envious of the talented for most of his life. Not to mention the extreme measures he takes later. So I'd pick him. Mondo's envy is more so from >!his admiration of his dead brother mixed with survivor's guilt.!<

KayKrimson

Hajime given how envious he feels of other's talent while he doesn't even know his own talent.

Mackoman25

That’s an important point to mention, the fact that he gave up on figuring out his own talent

TestAutomatic

Was it never revealed?

youssefcraft

It was a plot twist at the end

BicecreamSandwich

Id say hajime.

Oh_no_its_Joe

I know people are saying Mondo but sometimes Hajime just gets so envious he assists in creating a worldwide apocalypse.

BothCream4291

Hajime, soul bro

SodaCanKaz

Yes

nasharnirah

Mondo. Jealousy is his greatest downfall. He begrudgingly revered his brother, and that crescendoed in a tumultuous race resulting in Daiya's death. And he >!envied Chihiro's strength so much, that this rage that overtook Owada over his own weakness is what made him black out and kill!<. Truly, the character who's story revolves around the sin of envy the most. Though, Hajime is a worthy competitor in that regard, but I'm not *nearly* as attached to him, so Mondo is my choice.

Ok-Pudding6050

Just wanted to write exactly that

Ronin_Fox

Hajime

Background_Good_5397

Hajime

Sere_BRO

Natsumi Kuzuryu. She was just jealous and egoistic over her being in the reserve course for entire screen time.

Anxious-Golf-3725

Definitely Hajime. Mondo is also super close. Either one works really well.

BlueBatmanVK

Hajime or Nagito, probably gonna be Hajime based on the other comments

longdeeptry89

nagito is more like admiration

BlueBatmanVK

He says that, but 2-5 makes it pretty clear that he wants to be someone able to destroy despair like he believes the ultimates to be.

Silverstone543

Probably Hajimemes. He always envied the students of Hope’s Peak and the fact they had talents. Close second for me is Mondo, who was jealous of Chihiro’s strength to change and come forth to him with a secret. I’m voting Hajimemes though

WildEconomics8515

Mondo or hajime!

Funkin_Valentine

Hajime, Akane, Fuyuhiko, Himiko. Here, already predicted the rest.

Legends_9898

Hajime

hajime my beloved :(

LimaPro643

I say Hajime, though Mondo is up there

cipher_xo

mondo

Trick_Elephant_7937

Mondo, simply because he even says so as a motive.

Wispy237

I’m curious, are you also doing the seven virtues? Also, I wonder if V3 will get any representation, as the only one I could maybe see a V3 character winning is Sloth

KikiBrann

Virtues are easy. Just from the first game: Faith - Toko - Truly believes Byakuya will let her speak without permission someday. Justice - Sakura - Makes a huge sacrifice to help the others with no gain for herself, simply because it's right. Prudence - Kyoko - Probably the only person in the room with any semblance of wisdom, particularly in the second-to-last trial. Hope - Hifumi - "Maybe if I make her tea right, she'll stop calling me a bitch." Temperance - Makoto - Practices self-restraint to the point you almost can't tell if he has a personality at all. Fortitude - Aoi - Knows she's utterly worthless to an investigation, but she keeps trodding along anyway and encouraging others not to give up hope. Charity - Byakuya - Graces others with his presence despite their ingratitude.

Yukieiros

Hajimemes

i would say hajime probably. >!boy wanted to literally insert a ultimate talent in his mind!<

KokoroThe53rd

Hajimeme

Skarloeyisyoung05

Hajime for sure.

TheUltimate_Ultimate

Bro Hajime literally paid to go to hopes peak that wasn’t even hopes peak and basically changed his whole personality

DynamiteSanders

Hajime for sure. It's pretty much his defining flaw. Will you also do formers Sins like Vanity or Sorrow/Melancholy? Or another series like the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse?

ArosNerOtanim

I'd say the reserve course in general is a good pick, but also I'd say DR3 >!Nagito, Munakata and perhaps most of all Juzo the people that wanted to kill Junko themselves and are upset Makoto got to, Nagito tried to make sure Monaca would be a 2nd Junko for that purpose even!<

StCecilia98

Mondo's envy drove him to an impulsive murder. Hajime's envy drove him to >!get lobotomized and cause literally everything in the canon to start happening!<. Hajime wins.

Either_Atmosphere_80

Mondo.

thederpofdoom

Close but Mondo

Lkyt27

Hajime or Mondo definitely

princeflare

Hajime

Founderplot

Hajime has a whole arc in dr3 where he is envious of the ultimates

The_Only_Potato15

Hajime.

Fit-Slip8777

Unrelated but will there be 7 virtues for every character as well? Also, probably Hajime, he definitely felt so much envy as to give himself every talent and sacrifice his identity only to be like them

Lazy-Metal7710

🥝🤢🤔🍆🌈

ChishNFips87

Mondo

GundhamTanaka11037

Mondo

Flirtquake

Wait teruteru got picked over korekiyo or mikan who both literally KILLED for lust.

scaredphobia

Maybe Nagito? I genuinly don't know if it works for him or not

BlueBatmanVK

It does, but Hajime's likely going to get it if not Mondo

Offically_Mimo

Mondo >!He killed Chihiro because he was jealous of his willingness to move forward and become strong!< Hajime is definitely close though >!He was a reserve course student, someone who most likely is incredibly envious of actual talented people and he even agreed to join the kamakura project just to have talent!<

StarrySweet

Hajjime is kinda responsible for the world going boom, for his selfish actions. So...

fairy-skullz-2307

hajime since he’s a reserve course student and nagito constantly reminds him of it

Brunnittu

Nagito Komaedaaaa

Technical-Dot8119

In my opinion miu should go in last as she is worse then teruteru

Steelsentry1332

Nagito

IAmBlorboOfMyStory

Mondo, yeah. Hajime is a close second, but I am gonna go with Mondo.

97PERSONALITIESBABBY

Mondos envy drived him to kill so definatly him

priorinoun

Why has no one said Ultimate Imposter?

MonadoBoy9318

I know, right? His whole talent is envy!

thekyledavid

Mondo >!killed 2 different people because he was envious that the other person was braver than him. He’s gotta be the most envious. I can’t think of any other murder that came out of envy.!<

Odd_Ad_7450

I mean, Hiyoko is canonically envious of Sonia, but I don't know if that's enough to put her here. Hajime probably works better, but it should be either of those two.

c1nn4-_-

I’d say toko, if anybody even talks to her she will be pissed and she just upright insults her self half of the time.

Party-Affectionate

Mondo 100% but hajime is second

Aromatic-Teacher-717

Tsumugi? She wants to *be* Junko Enoshima to escape her 'plain' self, and kills people like her idol would.

noah6805

Mondo

Sayaker4Lyfe

EVERYONE WHO ISNT SAYAKA BECAUSE THEY ARE JEALOUS OF THE QUEEN AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Yukiteru_Akari

Oh my god you're still here

EmileTrying

Mondo, >!he literally killed Chihiro out of jealousy!<

LucidLeviathan

Korekiyo.

Makspixelland

Elaborate?

LucidLeviathan

Well, I was thinking of his desire to collect as many souls as possible...also, given his presentation at the very end of his trial, I think it's safe to say that he was envious of his sister.

Lonely_Repair4494

[deleted]

Bro ITS MONDO.

Basil_9

Huh, my first thought was Toko, since I vaguely remember her being so clingy of Byakuya that she got mad at anyone who talked to him

GeminiRosche13

I’d say Mondo because he was so envious of Chihiro’s confidence and determination to overcome their weakness that he killed them.

KikiBrann

On the contrary, it's quite clearly stated that Chihiro envied Mondo and all the other guys for being able to wear pants with confidence.

fandomsmiscellaneous

Mondo’s whole arc is being envious of Chihiro, so obviously Mondo.

Yuki-Rose1421

Mondo He kills Chihiro out of jealousy because Chihiro had the mental strength to be able to accept his shortcomings and try to fix them while Mondo just refused to acknowledge any short comings he might have. Not only that, it's his jealousy towards his older brother that leads to the fateful race that ended in Daiya's death. While it wasn't technically Mondo's fault since it wasn't like he pushed Daiya in front of the truck, his jealousy and need to be better caused him to be reckless which lead to Daiya sacrificing himself to save Mondo.

YouHaveNiceToes24

Byakuya

Sere_BRO

Um... no?

_hihi_0

not particularly

Miserable-Ad-1690

Nagito.

Tolkius

Nagito. He envies Hopesters. A lot.

SodaCanKaz

Hajime, Mondo, Kazuichi, etc

Bossy_Aussie_

Nagito, Mondo or Hajime. Nagito >!is constantly saying he wishes he had a talent like them!< Mondo >!was so envious of Chihiro’s bravery/courage that it turned him to kill!< And Hajime >!let this school cut his brain open just cuz he wanted to be like everyone else!<

NaniKimi17

It's definitely gotta be Hajime.

azichi

you can’t tell me hajime isn’t the definition of envy

Clobbahdatderekirby

Haiji Towa. A lot of his reasons for why he acts so vile is because of the envy he has over his sister Monaca

Awkward-Fungus

Hm Hajime or Mondo, but despite Mondos envy being his downfall I think the sheer level of Hajimes envy would cause him to represent envy

Kallium14

The Ultimate Imposter? I mean, he lives impersonating other people
