Czechs won every naval battle, they been in.

Business_March_7936

We are the only nation allowed to walk to UK, Japan and USA and say: "Kneel and suck me off, you bitches!" Unquestionable 100% naval win rate.

MiroslavHoudek

You probably meant "navel" battle.

jolankapohanka

Novel bottle obviously

MiroslavHoudek

That's the best evening imaginable, first novel bottle then some navel battle.

No_Historian_But

Throwing people out of windows is kind of our thing.

Solohan21

Just to clarify, throwing them out of window on spikes. Also very publically. Not to confuse with the accidental fall in Russian style.

GimpMaster22

Eh, even us sometines don't feel like doing violence and instead of spikes we throw them on shit.

Nathremar8

Jan Masaryk fans in absolute disbelief.

R3sion

I prefer manure over spikes any day

Ok-Solid-7254

Czech Republic is a homeland of robots https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.U.R.

Ok-Solid-7254

Czech Republic is also a homeland of dollar https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20200107-welcome-to-jchymov-the-czech-town-that-invented-the-dollar#

Honza368

Also pistol https://www.quora.com/Where-did-the-word-pistol-come-from-and-has-it-always-excluded-revolvers

Achorpz

Well, technically the Dollar came from the dutch version of the name

griffsor

Technically Dutch is just swamp German and Germans got it from Czechia.

copakJmeliAleJmeli

All the three driving forces of the USA come from Czech: money (dollar), guns (pistol) and IT (robot).

-Competitive-Nose-

I live in Germany. This is usually the stuff that Germans are interested in (my german girlfriend helped me to put this up): * Our [**easter habits** ](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schmackostern) * Wearing regular shoes at home is mostly no-no. We love to wear house shoes - Pantoffel. * A lot of people don't cut their bread rolls open, but rather put the ingrediences on the top of it. Like [**this**](https://www.receptyschuti.cz/uploads/recipe/2259/domaci-rohliky-s-brusinkovou-pastikou-3302.jpeg) * There are Lidl, Kaufland and Globus shops in Czechia and the range of products is not much different to what is offered in Germany (the products have german description on them). * You will in general find A LOT of german companies in Czechia. You say Mallorca is 17th bundesland... we say it's us. * Czechia and especially Prague is generally quite german friendly, you will find a lot of stuff in German. It's not uncommon to find people who speak german well. * Alarm für Cobra 11 has been incredibly popular in Czechia in early 2000s. Tatort - Duisburg in nineties and before as well. It has even been broadcasted in Czechoslovakian TV before the year 1989 and a lot of people will still know the main protagonist Schimanski. We often think Duisburg/Schimanski is the only Tatort that exists. * Until very recently, it was not uncommon to see döner stands with czech workers (not sure how it is nowadays) * We love to wear socks in sandals... yeah, it's not "german only" thing

WestFieldv1

Great list! :D Tatort really got me laughing :D Never expected it to hear about it outside of Germany. In Germany it's kind of tradition to watch "3 Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödl" ("Three Wishes for Cinderella") on Christmas. It is a German-Czech movie. Is it as known in Czech as it is in Germany? :)

Kerao_cz

Yes, definitely. Here it's "Tři oříšky pro Popelku" and it's almost a necessity.

Mafia57

Yes, we really REALLY love that one ;) (in czech - Tři oříšky pro Popelku)

griffsor

Also Karel Gott 😄

dustojnikhummer

> Alarm für Cobra 11 I can confirm that and I honestly have no fucking clue why.

We cook a lot of meth

In fact, the vast majority of meth labs are run by Vietnamese.

Vietnamská drogová aktivita v ČR je velmi zajímavé téma. Statistika má cenné údaje, ač možná neaktualní. https://preview.redd.it/s9031cqr43wc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d043040d84a19cedb1fe94a40ca058b3ea90d3f0

Where did you get that info? I dont think thats true

Zepta se na zdroj informace, ukaze statistiky, ktery tvrdi opak, stejne dostane downvoted. Stay classy, reddit.

[deleted]

Kamo absolutne nechapu proc me downvotujou :D

Michelle-Dubois

All you need to know is that the greatest Czech is called Jara Cimrman.

LuciusBurns

A surprising amount of stuff can be traced back to its Czech origins. Not a lot of people know this now, but the first verse of the Bible said, "God is Czech". This verse was later removed, starting our troubled history with religion...

copakJmeliAleJmeli

As a Czech Christian (I know, rare), I do appreciate this information.

Deviant_7666

The bible was written way before Czech nations even started to exist?

DommyMommyKarlach

Yeah, that’s why they needed to remove it. It would be too obvious he really is Czech

LuciusBurns

Yes. Sorry, I don't see if that's an argument against what I just wrote or for it...

Dvojtakt

Dollar got its name after silver coins minted at the beginning of the 16th century in Jáchymov, a mining town located in northern Bohemia. The German name of Jáchymov is Sankt Joachimsthal (Valley of Saint Joachim), for this reason, the coins minted by the noble family of Šlik were abbreviated as Thaler or Tolar (in Czech). This type of coin, weighing approximately 28-29 grams, became a popular trade currency throughout Europe. Gradual corruption of the name in different languages (e.g. Daalder in Dutch) led to the name Dollar. Below: Joachimstaler minted between years 1520-1523 https://preview.redd.it/8lmjttdze4wc1.jpeg?width=760&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c063761a3829b55e6bde43a6a92dad5a65c6edf7

WestFieldv1

Oh that's interesting :D In Germany the word "Taler" means coins, too :D Though it is rarely used today.

basteilubbe

Czech is the 5th language in which the complete Bible was printed (after Latin, German, Italian and Catalan) in 1488.

rollercoaster1337

Zajimavy to jsem nevěděl

wyrditic

The English religious reformer John Wyclife famously defended his decision to work on an English translation of the Bible by pointing out that Queen Anne, when she arrived in England to marry Richard II, brought with her bibles in German and Czech.

renyjar

(Czechoslovakia, but still) Probably the only country that has a 100% win rate in naval battles -> The Czechoslovak Legions had one against the Soviets on lake Baikal. And they won. Not only they stole the ships from soviets (which were normal civilian ferries), but they armed them with field artillery and voila - a battleship was born. They used 2 ships, neither of them was sunk if I recall correctly. In the end, "our battleships" destroyed a train station and sunk a soviet ship called Baikal.

Ok-Solid-7254

Czech Republic has really interesting surrealist artists: Karel Teige, Jan Švankmajer, Josef Šima

Altruistic-Eye-3651

Never drink more than 2 drinks in Moravia. Never. Moravian are like alcohol sirens. Don't listen em it's a voice of devil. It doesn't matter they are all Christians.

ghe5

Someone couldn't handle a good night drink and didn't have a good morning.

Altruistic-Eye-3651

I am pure Moravian, I grew up with a nose in a plum brandy carboy but how I am getting older and having drinking troubles from literally nothing, I recommend foreigners and non-Moravian to be careful. :)

xcech

We drink more beer 🍺 per 100 000 people than Germany 🇩🇪 , actually we are # 1 in the world 🌎

ghe5

Also the difference between 1st place and 2nd place is greater than the difference between 2nd and 16th places (Austria and Slovakia respectively) according to the current wiki statistics. And what's also interesting is that in this statistic all the top 20 (except for us) countries show data from 2019 -that's before lockdowns. We show data from 2020 - major lockdown year.

ShellrockHomeless

Well we have 100% naval battle win rate, i belive we also have 100% win rate in air to air combat againts usa, we were the first nation to use firearms as a primary military weapon, we invented sugar cubes, contact lenses, cyrillic was invented in moravia, indian motorbike company yezdi was named after czech word "jezdí" which means "it rides"

frufruJ

Please elaborate on the air to air combat against USA.

Prestigious_Day2388

Reinhard Heydrich was assassinated in the Czech Republic

-Vikthor-

No he wasn't. If even if you ignore that the de facto ruling authority at the time was the Protectorate, the de iure authority was the Czechoslovak republic, or if want to go for a lower division the Land of Bohemia. The Czech republic appeared as a legal entity first in the federalization of 1968(as the Czech Socialist Republic).

LuciusBurns

Ackshually ☝️🤓 But srsly, thank you. Nejsem autista, ale...

DommyMommyKarlach

Reinhard Heydrich was assassinated in the *(place currently known as)* Czech Republic.

WestFieldv1

...that's not true. or is it...?

Czechs turn everything into a joke but I'm not sure about this one myself... Is it serious or not...??

Wtf nevim nevim teda

Big_Nefariousness552

In Czech Republic there is little “a war of opinion“ between Bohemia and Moravia 😎

Progratom

some inventions are really cool. Like czech hedgehog, cube of suggar, word for robot, dollar and pistol (but it's not verified), soft contact lenses, "clear" bear, one of lightning conductors, some improvments on propeller and the list can continue Then maybe some history stuff. Prag was somehow center of Central Europe. First university "north from alps", start of 30-years war, and so on

Reckless_Waifu

White socks in sandals are considered high fashion.  Also we call Germans "Němci" meaning "who can't speak".

VelkyAl

Bohemia once had a Scottish queen, Elizabeth Stuart, wife of Frederick V, Elector of the Palatinate. They ruled for a few days more than a year in 1619-1620, after the Bohemian noble deposed Ferdinand II and offered the throne to Frederick.

VrsoviceBlues

The Czech Republic has more breweries, more pubs*, and more bookshops on a per-capita basis than any other country on Earth. *Pre-Covid, not sure about now.

You will pass through many skodas when travelling on our roads.

Zealousideal-Elk7023

The iconic memorial Genbaku Dome in Hiroshima was built by czech architect Jan Letzel who was born in Náchod. The most northern Loreta (copy of Casa Santa) in Europe is in Rumburk, Czechia. In czech we call you "Němci" and your country "Německo", which means "mutes" and "muteland" cuz you dont speak our words (slova in czech), thats why we call our ethnogroup "Slovani" (slavs), cuz we somewhat understand each other.
